An Effect of Semantic Relatedness on Entity Disambiguation: Using Korean Wikipedia (개체중의성해소에서 의미관련도 활용 효과 분석: 한국어 위키피디아를 사용하여)

  • Entity linking is to link entity's name mentions occurring in text to corresponding entities within knowledge bases. Since the same entity mention may refer to different entities according to their context, entity linking needs to deal with entity disambiguation. Most recent works on entity disambiguation focus on semantic relatedness between entities and attempt to integrate semantic relatedness with entity prior probabilities and term co-occurrence. To the best of my knowledge, however, it is hard to find studies that analyze and present the pure effects of semantic relatedness on entity disambiguation. From the experimentation on Korean Wikipedia data set, this article empirically evaluates entity disambiguation approaches using semantic relatedness in terms of the following aspects: (1) the difference among semantic relatedness measures such as NGD, PMI, Jaccard, Dice, Simpson, (2) the influence of ambiguities in co-occurring entity mentions' set, and (3) the difference between individual and collective disambiguation approaches.

  • Game is the latest type of Gesamtkunstwerk encompassing humanistic and engineering creativity. Nevertheless, Korea's game industry faces a crisis. The purpose of this study is to consider positive emotion-inducing effects as a way to deal with it. Among others, storytelling of , one of the most representative MMORPG games in the world, was selected for the study on various positive emotion-inducing effects. In the story of , the view of the world, characters and incidents are vital to the game and the study is focused on their emotion-inducing effects among the users based on actual examples. As a result, it was confirmed that the positive emotion-inducing storytelling would provide a possibility to reduce negative sentiment towards games, address crisis Korea's game industry faces, and interact with gamers in a positive direction.

  • Web-based MMORTS has features that distinguish it from traditional client-based games. First, Web-based MMORTS is represented by the combination of graphics and texts. Second, there is parallax agent which has a player and a base town character. This paper written for the purpose of analyzing the storytelling of web-based MMORTS, and from Innogames selected as the subjects of the study. In view of the results so far achieved, the fact, when the player logs in web-based MMORTS, the player takes the experience after some time which had taken by the AI character instead of the player logged out and User Generated Storytelling created from this process, become known. This paper has a meaning for Web-based virtual world which can juxtaposition with routine tasks and can be linked with other platforms.

  • Recently, although there are strong requirements to manage multimedia data, there are a few researches on efficient storage and retrieval of multimedia data. In this paper, we design an object storage engine which can store and retrieve various multimedia objects efficiently. For this, we design an object manager for storing a variety of multimedia data and an inverted file manager for indexing unformatted text objects. In addition, we implement the objects storage engine which can support concurrency control and recovery schemes of DBMS by integrating the object manager and the inverted file manager with the SHORE low-level storage system. Finally, we develope a TIROS(Thesis Information Retrieval using Object Storage engine) system in order to verify the usefulness of our object storage engine.

  • The Chinese Geography Standards for Senior Secondary Schools(trial) was released in 2003. The Standards put forward some changes for senior geography education, the changes in geographical education are reflected explicitly and implicitly by the textbooks. The purpose of this descriptive study was to review of the improvement of Chinese senior geography education by analyzing contents organization and coherence of the new standards-based geography experimental textbooks. The results of study are as follows. The textbooks adopts a student-centered approach through the way of 'more chapter topics with slimmed contents' and by introducing four type activities, geographical inquiries. These student activities are implicity encourages students' active acquisition of geographical knowledge what they have learned in their real lives. The organic coherence of the textbooks' contents rests on the compulsory and the elective subject relating to diversification of the learning areas. The organic coherence between the compulsory and the elective subject rests on diversification of the learning areas. More, looking at the arrangement of the four basic concepts(population, resource, environment, sustainable development) among the textbooks, it was imbalanced by subject.

  • There exists a many-to-many mapping relationship between persons and their names. A person may have multiple names, and different persons may share the same name. These synonymous and homonymous names may severely deteriorate the recall and precision of the person search, respectively. This study addresses the characteristics of features for resolving homonymous author names appearing in citation data. As disambiguation features, previous works have employed citation-internal features such as co-authorship, titles of articles, titles of publications as well as citation-external features such as emails, affiliations, Web evidences. To the best of our knowledge, however, there has been no literature to deal with the influences of features on author disambiguation. This study analyzes the effect of individual features on author resolution using a large-scale test set for Korean.

  • This paper proposes a design and realization for the semantic search system. The proposed model includes three Architecture Layers of a Semantic Search System ; (they are conceptually named as) the Knowledge Acquisition, the Knowledge Representation and the Knowledge Utilization. Each of these three Layers are designed to interactively work together, so as to maximize the users' information needs. The Knowledge Acquisition Layer includes index and storage of Semantic Metadata from various source of web contents(eg : text, image, multimedia and so on). The Knowledge Representation Layer includes the ontology schema and instance, through the process of semantic search by ontology based query expansion. Finally, the Knowledge Utilization Layer includes the users to search query intuitively, and get its results without the users'knowledge of semantic web language or ontology. So far as the design and the realization of the semantic search site is concerned, the proposedsemantic search system will offer useful implications to the researchers and practitioners so as to improve the research level to the commercial use.

Developing Digital Archives from the Records of Westerners who visited Korea during the Enlightenment Period of Chosun (개화기 방한 서양인 기록물의 디지털 아카이브 구축에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to create a digital archive for local cultural contents compiled from the records of westerners who visited Korea during the Enlightenment Period of Chosun. The compiled information were gathered from 11 records, and 10 main subjects and 120 sub-subjects were derived through the subject classification scheme. Item analysis was conducted through 37 metadata, and input data types were classified and databased in Excel. Finally, a model of the digital archive system was simulated, and a webpage consisting of five menus was presented. Suggestions for future research were extensive aggregation of new data for archive expansion, active connections between archive systems, standardization of systems, and improved system design for compatibility and user-friendliness.

  • 사회적 약자인 청각장애인들의 수화통역 서비스가 대체로 만족스럽게 제공되고 있지 않다. 또한 청각 장애인수 대비 수화통역가의 부족과 일반인과의 즉각적인 소통이 어려워 일상생활에 불편함을 느끼는 청각장애인들이 많다. 이의 문제점을 착안하여 본 연구에서는 청각장애인들이 휴대할 수 있는 수화 통역기를 개발하고자 한다. 청각장애인들의 손동작을 인식할 수 있는 3D센서 립모션(Leap-Motion)을 통해 수화를 인식한다. 립모션 센서와 안드로이드 스마트폰 및 태블릿과 연결하여 손 데이터 값을 분석했다. 분석한 손 데이터 값과 특정 지화(자음, 모음)와 간단한 인사말의 수화동작을 취할 때, 트래킹되는 데이터 값을 비교하여 수화를 인식하고 수화와 인식된 지화의 자음과 모음을 글자로 완성시켜, 텍스트와 음성으로 출력한다. 또한 립모션이 부착된 하드케이스 안에 스마트기기 탈착이 가능한 실용성 있는 수화통역기 제품 개발에 대한 연구를 목표로 하고 있다.

  • 인천 영종도는 물부족 위험평가 분석을 위해 Smart Water Grid연구단에서 선정한 데모플랜트로섬으로 고립된 지역이다. 영종도는 공촌정수장으로부터 상수도를 공급받고 있으며 관로 파손 등의 사고가 발생할 경우 외부 수자원으로부터 수도를 공급 받기 어려운 실정이다. 따라서 상수도 공급의 어려움이 발생할 경우 대체 수자원을 활용한 가용수량 산정과 이를 적용하기 위한 물수급평가 프로그램이 영종도에 적용 될 예정이다. 본 연구에서는 물수급평가를 위해 수문분석의 기초자료인 장래 예측 강수량을 제공하는 프로그램을 개발하였다. 장래 강수예측자료는 기상청 기상예보와 기후변화시나리오를 활용하였으며 Visual Studio2013을 통해 강수제공 프로그램을 개발하였고, 데이터의 저장과 DB서버 연동을 위해 Oracle 프로그램이 이용되었다. 기상청에서는 3일, 10일, 1달, 3달로 기간을 구분하여 강수확률 예보를 제공하고 있기 때문에 3개월 이내의 중 단기 예측은 기상청에서 제공되는 기상확률예보를 사용하였고, 3개월 이후의 장기 예측은 RCP 8.5시나리오에 의한 일단위 강수량이 활용될 수 있도록 하였다. 기상청 확률예보의 경우 퍼센트 확률을 정량적 수치로 환산하여 일단위 강수량으로 변환하여 제공하였다. 연구를 통해 개발된 강수제공 프로그램에서는 영종도 지역 내 행정구역 별 면적평균강수량이 제공되며, 기후변화시나리오에 의한 강수데이터 취득 시 고해상도(1km 격자단위)로 추출이 가능하도록 하였다. 사용자는 위 경도 좌표에 따라 일 및 월 단위의 강수데이터를 텍스트 파일 형태로 취득할 수 있고, 프로그램 화면 내 표출되는 그래프를 통해 현재대비 장래 강수량 변화를 확인할 수 있도록 하였다. 향후 Smart Water Grid 연구성과로 개발된 물부족위험평가프로그램과 연동하여 물수급평가, 가용수량 산정 등에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
