Optimized design for operating system model of automated container terminal in Korea (우리나라에 적합한 자동화 터미널의 운영시스템 모델 설계)

  • Construction of automated terminal is urgently demanded to gain the foundation of hub-port in north east Asia. Therefore I suggest an adequate operating system model of automated terminal in Korea. In this paper the aim of automated terminal operating system is satisfied, four basic models are divided according to moving course of export and import cargo of each automated equipments, several input data are changed and analyzed dynamically by Trial and Error method, and then an optimized operating system model is designed. It is a Premise that all the yard equipments described in this paper must be automatic except quay crane.

  • This paper presented a approach to the measurement of efficiency in container terminals in Korea. To perform this objective, it used Data envelopment analysis(DEA) which has particular applicability in the service sector. DEA as mathematical programming techniques enables relative efficiency ratings to be derived within a set of analysed units. So this paper investigated the efficiency employing DEA-CCR and DEA-BCC Model on data for 15 container terminals from 1998 through 2005. Results of this paper, suggested to some plan for operation strategy in Container terminals.

  • The automation of container terminals is an important factor that determines port competitiveness, and global advanced ports tend to strengthen their competitiveness through container terminal automation. The operational efficiency of the AGV, which is an essential transport equipment of the automated terminal, can improve the productivity of the automated terminal. The operation of AGVs in automated container terminals differs from that of conventional container terminals, as it is based on an automated system in which AGVs travel along designated paths and operate according to assigned tasks, requiring consideration of factors such as workload, congestion, and collisions. To prevent such problems and improve the efficiency of AGV operations, a more sophisticated model is necessary. Thus, this paper proposes an AGV scheduling model that takes into account the AGV travel path and task assignment within the terminal The model prevent the problem of deadlock and. various cases are generated by changing AGV algebra and number of tasks to create AGV driving situations and evaluate the proposed algorithm through algorithm and optimization analysis.

  • With slow sea trade volumes growth and increasing competition of ports, port industry is witnessing an increasing number of factors that have driven up the costs. Using financial data collected from Korea's container terminal operators, this study analyzed cost structural characteristics. The differences by terminal size, region and operating status of the terminal operators were examined and the suggestion were presented based on the result of the analysis.

  • The paper attempts to identify the Logistics Service Duality of Container Terminals and to test the model by using of the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP). Also, the research assess the practical competitiveness of Container Terminals in Kwangyang by Fuzzy technique. To conclude, we can make the following observations: (1) we classifies the Logistic Service Quality into five attributes such as Tangibility, Reliability, Responsiveness, Assurance, Empathy, (2) Assurance is drawn to the most important attribute, (3) There is a significant disparity between the operators and the users in the relative importance of the Logistics Service Quality Attributes of Container Terminal, (4) In the result of analysis of the terminals' competitiveness, C Terminal is extracted as the most superior operator. In Addition, we hope to provide useful contribution to increase Gwangyang container terminal's competitiveness and offer some insight in further research.

  • In the era of the 4th industrial revolution, automated technology innovation is emerging, and container terminals are being developed to introduce automation equipment and systems. With the advent of ultra-large vessels, terminals around the world are seeking to build port infrastructure by combining automated technology in order to attract more cargo and to enhance competitiveness to provide prompt service. To introduce automated technology that is emerging as a high-tech industry, this study proposes a structural equation model for the decision to introduce automated container terminal and conducts a questionnaire survey on workers engaged in terminal operators for empirical analysis. This paper presents the role and direction of guidelines for introduction of automated container terminal through decision model.

  • There have been cases where the number of port workers has temporarily decreased due to COVID-19. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, a number of workers were quarantined, resulting in bottlenecks and waiting throughout the port operation process, increasing the congestion of terminals. As a result, problems such as a decrease in terminal operation efficiency occurred. However, it is understood that congestion centered on unloading equipment inside the terminal is not clearly calculated. Terminal congestion is thought to be a key factor directly related to the operational efficiency of the terminal. The congestion calculation method generally used in various fields measures congestion based on image-based data. Due to the nature of the loading and unloading equipment that moves according to the quantitative loading plan, it is unreasonable to apply the existing congestion calculation method. Therefore, this study presented a method of calculating terminal congestion using equipment waiting time and turnaround time, and verified the statistical significance of the congestion calculated using data from Terminal A of Busan Port.

  • 과거의 터미널은 사회 간접자본으로서 수출입 화물을 처리하는 항만의 기능을 중요시하여 왔다. 하지만 21세기를 맞이하는 지금에 와서는 고부가가치를 창출하여 내는 전략산업으로서 보다 많은 이익을 위해 터미널의 효율적인 운영을 필요로 한다. 그러므로 터미널 종합 관제 시스템은 보다 지능화 되어 터미널에서 발생하는 문제들에 시스템 스스로 이에 대한 해결책을 만들어 내고 이를 실제의 운영에 반영할 수 있도록 하여야 한다. 하지만 현재의 터미널에 도입되어 있는 시스템은 단순히 현재의 터미널 상황을 모니터링 하는 수준에 그치고 있다. 시스템에서 자동적으로 문제를 검출하고 해결하기보다는 어떤 문제가 발생하였을 시 문제가 생긴 상황을 파악하는 용도로서만 이용되고 있는 실정이다. 본 논문에서 기술하고자 하는 지능형 종합 관제 시스템은 이러한 용도를 넘어서 시스템 스스로 문제 상황을 파악하고 이에 대한 해결책을 시스템이 스스로 찾아내고 이를 직접 지시하여 터미널에 발생한 문제들을 해결하여 주는 시스템이다.

목포항 연안여객터미널 이용자 만족도 분석

  • 목포항은 과거부터 서남권 도서를 연결하는 여객선 교통의 충추적인 역할을 담당해왔다. 최근 국민의 삶의 질 향상과 여가시간 증가로 섬을 찾는 관광객이 증가하고 있다. 이에 목포항 연안여객터미널의 이용객 만족도를 조사하여 어떤 시설, 서비스를 중요하게 여기고 있는지 조사, 분석하였다. 그 결과 다양한 연령층이 목포항 연안여객터미널을 이용하고 있었으며, 그 가운데 20대와 50대의 이용객이 많았다. 연안여객터미널 접근성은 좋다고 했으나 타 교통수단에 비해 다소 비싸게 느끼고 있었다. 연안여객터미널 시설의 중요도와 만족도에 있어서 매표소 시설, 대기실 공간, 화장실 여건은 중요하다고 인식하고 있었고 목포항 연안여객터미널의 만족도도 대체로 높았다. 그러나 상업시설과 주차장은 중요하게 인식하고 있었으나 만족도는 낮게 나타나 이에 대한 보완이 필요할 것으로 판단된다. 연안여객선의 운영서비스에 있어서는 운항간격, 출항시간 준수, 운항 소요시간 준수, 편의시설 관리, 안전관리 수준, 이용서비스 대비 운임, 차도선 이용 편의성에 있어서 만족도가 높게 나타났다. 이 연구는 향후 목포항 연안여객터미널 운영에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

A Study on the Analysis of Relative Efficiency of Logistics Facilities in Korea (DEA기법을 이용한 한국 물류시설의 효율성 분석)

  • This paper aims to analyse the relative efficiency of logistics facilities and suggest the policy alternatives for exploring and activating them. This study also divides the logistics facilities into airport terminals, logistics complexes, container terminals, and trucking freight terminals. For this purpose, the CCR-DEA as well as the BCC-DEA techniques are employed to show which part explains the primary cause of inefficiencies of each DMU(Decision Making Unit). The empirical results indicate that the efficiency of logistics complex is the lowest of all, while freight trucking terminal has the highest efficiency. This study also reveals that operation inefficiency is greater than scale inefficiency in most of DMUs, showing that much more effort be done for alleviating the cost resulting from irrational management.
