Deep Learning Image Processing Technology for Vehicle Occupancy Detection (차량탑승인원 탐지를 위한 딥러닝 영상처리 기술 연구)

  • With the development of global automotive technology and the expansion of market size, demand for vehicles is increasing, which is leading to a decrease in the number of passengers on the road and an increase in the number of vehicles on the road. This causes traffic jams, and in order to solve these problems, the number of illegal vehicles continues to increase. Various technologies are being studied to crack down on these illegal activities. Previously developed systems use trigger equipment to recognize vehicles and photograph vehicles using infrared cameras to detect the number of passengers on board. In this paper, we propose a vehicle occupant detection system with deep learning model techniques without exploiting existing system-applied trigger equipment. The proposed technique proposes a system to detect vehicles by establishing triggers within images and to apply deep learning object recognition models to detect real-time boarding personnel.

Efficient Tracking System for Passengers with the Detection Algorithm of a Stopping Vehicle (차량정차감지 알고리즘을 이용한 탑승자의 효율적 위치추적시스템)

  • The location-based service is emerging again to the public attention. The location recognition environment up-to-now has been studied with its focus only on a person, an object or a moving object. However, this study proposes a location recognition model that serves to recognize and track, in real time, multiple passengers in a moving vehicle. Identifying the locations of passengers can be classified into two classes: one is to use the high price terminal with GPS function, and the other is to use the economic price compact terminal without GPS function. Our model enables the simple compact terminal to provide effective location recognition under the on-boarding situation by transmitting messages through an interface device and sensor networks for a vehicle equipped with GPS. This technology reduces transmission traffic after detecting the condition of a vehicle (being parked or running), because it does not require transmission/receiving of information on the locations of passengers who are confined in a vehicle when the vehicle is running. Also it extends battery life by saving power consumption of the compact terminal. Hence, we carried out experiments to verify its serviceability by materializing the efficient tracking system for passengers with the detection algorithm of a stopping vehicle proposed in this study. Moreover, about 200 experiments using the system designed with this technology proved successful recognition on on-boarding and alighting of passengers with the maximum transmission distance of 12 km. In addition to this, the running recognition tests showed the test with the detection algorithm of a stopping vehicle has reduced transmission traffic by 41.6% compared to the algorithm without our model.

  • 며칠 전 졸업반 4학년 학생들을 인솔하고 산업체 현장 견학을 다녀왔다. 지난해말 한국을 강습한 IMF 한파 이후 처음 있는 현장 방문이라 여러 가지 면에서 감회가 새로웠다. 일차적으로 김포공항에서 탑승한 부산행 항공기의 현격한 승객 감소가 피부로 와 다았다. 예년 같으면 아침 시간에 좌석배정 카운터가 매우 혼잡할 텐데 별로 힘들지 않게 좌석 배정을 받고 탑승할 수 있었다. 위축된 기업환경과 가계로 인하여 비싼 항공출장과 관광 승객이 대폭 줄은 탓 같았다.

  • In level 5 (mind-off) of autonomous driving, the autonomous vehicle passengers are expected to have various activities such as face-to-face meetings, working, relaxing, and watching movies. In particular, various changes in the interior space of the vehicle are expected. Moreover, according to the survey conducted by the American Automobile Association, 73% of the respondents reported that they were afraid to board autonomous vehicles. In level 5 of autonomous driving, the subject of safety was expected to be transferred to autonomous vehicles; thus, research should be conducted from the user's perspective. Recently, various studies have been conducted to secure the safety of fully autonomous vehicles. However, there are limited studies addressing the psychological safety of actual passengers. Therefore, this study conducted a questionnaire based on the AHP technique. Consequently, the automobile safety system's priority for securing passengers' psychological safety according to each type of indoor behavior was derived, and the interior space for securing the psychological stability of passengers was suggested based on the obtained results. This study offers a new direction for interior space design, satisfying the psychological safety of passengers. This study is important because it advocates that the interior environment of fully autonomous driving cars is expected to be designed to secure the user's psychological safety.

  • 최근 중소 테마파크들은 방문객의 감소로 인한 운영의 어려움을 겪고 있다. 새로운 어트랙션의 도입 및 테마파크의 리뉴얼을 통해 방문객 증가를 유도하기에는 천문학적인 비용이 소요된다. 이런 비용 소모는 운영 업체의 입장에서 부담하기 쉽지 않은 구조로 새로운 방법으로 방문객의 재방문률을 높일 수 있는 방안이 필요하다. 대표적인 방안으로 최근 높은 관심으로 인해 관련 기술 및 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있는 VR 시스템의 어트랙션 적용이 있다. 많은 움직임이 없고 안정적인 속도로 운영되는 어트랙션에 VR의 콘텐츠를 적용하여 사용자의 탑승률을 높이고 이로 인해 재방문률 또한 증가 시킬 수 있을 것으로 사료되어 많은 접근이 시도되고 있다. 이 논문에서는 어트랙션의 탑승자에게 몰입감 높은 VR 콘텐츠 제공을 위해 탑승한 어트랙션의 움직임과 VR영상을 동기화 하는 매칭 모듈에 대해 제안한다. 제안하는 모듈은 가속도 센서의 움직임에 따라 1차 적분하여 속도를 산출하고 이를 2차 적분하여 거리를 산출한다. 기존의 가속도 센서를 통한 이동거리 판단에는 칼만 필터를 적용한 오차 보정, 다분화 사다리꼴 적분 등의 연산이 필요하지만 본 논문의 고정 어트랙션에서는 탑승체의 방향이 결정되어 있어 최소화된 연산으로 정확한 이동거리를 판단할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

  • 주행 중인 자율주행차의 탑승자는 차량의 거동을 예측할 수 없기 때문에 불안함을 느낄 수 있으므로 차량의 거동 정보를 사전에 탑승자에게 전달하여 심리적 안정을 제공하는 것은 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 완전 자율주행 상황을 가정하여 자율주행 시스템이 발생시키는 주행 의도를 탑승자에게 전달하는 하드웨어 시스템을 제안한다. 제안하는 시스템은 자율주행차량이 사전에 생성된 경로를 따라 주행하면서 출발, 정지, 방향 전환 등과 같은 총 5 가지 상황에 대한 시각, 청각 및 촉각 알림을 통한 자율주행 의도 전달하는 것을 고려한다. 차량용 시트에 모터를 부착하여 촉각 알림을 통해 자율주행 의도를 전달 하였으며, 모니터를 통해 시각 및 청각 알림을 통해 자율주행 의도를 전달하였다. PC 에서 개발에 필요한 시뮬레이션 데이터를 처리하였으며, 시뮬레이션 환경에서 개발, 실험 및 평가가 진행되었다.

A Safety Assessment on Light Weight Wheelchair Occupant in Frontal Crash (경량 휠체어 탑승자의 차량 전방충돌시 안전성 평가)

  • In this study, for a safetv assessment of light weight wheelchair occupant in frontal crash, we tested a dynamic sled impact test. we carried out total 6 times test and impact speed was 20g/48 km/h. By using Hybrid III 50%ile male dummy, head injury criteria(HIC), neck flexion moment, neck axial tension force, neck shear force. chest acceleration, head, wheelchair and knee excursion were measured, we evaluated light weight wheelchair occupant safety by motion criteria(MC) which proposed in SAE J2249 and combined injury criteria(CIC) which is a voluntary standard(GM-IARV) of General Motors Co.. when we assumed that the maximum injury value in frontal crash was 100%, the result of motion criteria(MC) of wheelchair occupant was 52%, occupant upper body injury index(CIC) was 60.1%.

  • In order to make autonomous vehicles more trustworthy, it is necessary to focus on the users of autonomous vehicles. By evaluating the preferences for driving behaviors of autonomous vehicles, we aim to identify driving behaviors that increase the acceptance of users in autonomous vehicles. We implemented two driving behaviors, aggressive and cautious, in a driving simulator and allowed users to experience them. Biometric data was collected during the ride, and pre- and post-riding surveys were conducted. Subjects were categorized into two groups based on their driving habits and analyzed against the collected biometric data. Both aggressive and cautious driving subjects preferred the cautious driving behavior of autonomous vehicles.

  • Recently, various safety technologies have been extensively developed to protect occupants from accidents. This paper surveys various automotive occupant protection technologies such as antilock braking system, traction control system, electronic brake distribution, electronic stability control, autonomous emergency braking, airbag, seatbelt pretensioner, and active headrest. Their operation principles and implementations are also explained.

  • 누구나 놀이공원을 한번쯤 가보면 인기 있는 놀이기구를 몇 시간에 걸쳐 기다렸던 경험이 있을 것이다. 그에 따라 많은 시간이 낭비되고 피곤함도 크게 증가한다. 따라서 이용객의 불편함을 해소하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 NFC 태그를 활용한 어플리케이션을 개발하여 불필요하게 줄 서서 기다리는 시간을 줄이려 한다. 본 어플리케이션에는 놀이기구 탑승을 위한 알림메시지가 있기 때문에 줄 서서 기다리지 않고 각 놀이기구 마다 설치된 NFC 태그에 터치하는 것으로 기다리지 않고 탑승하여 알림메시지에 따라서 예약 탑승객들이 우선 탑승할 수 있다. 이러한 효과로 이용객에게 편리함을 제공하며 공원 입장에서는 고객의 충성도가 증가하므로 재방문율이 증가하는 효과, 놀이기구 이용 회전율이 증가하는 효과를 기대할 수 있다.
