Effects of Maqui Berry Extract on Blood Lipids and Liver Function in Normal Rodents (마키베리 추출물이 정상 설치류의 혈중지질과 간기능에 미치는 영향)

  • Maqui berry are known as one of the "superfoods" and can purportedly improve health. The effects of orally administered maqui berry extract on biological parameters such as serum lipids and blood cells in healthy subjects were investigated in rats in vivo for 2 weeks. Possible causes of harmful effects on liver and kidney function were also examined. After oral administration of maqui berry extract, levels of serum triglyceride (TG) were decreased to almost 30% less from the control, and high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) was increased to 18% more; thus, serum lipids profile seemed to be improved. The administration of maqui berry extract increased red blood cell concentration by 10% from the control, while both the hemoglobin and the mean corpuscular volume (MCV) were increased by 12%. Maqui berry extract also increased the concentration of serum total proteins by 30% of the control and that suggests protein metabolism might be improved. Moreover, maqui berry decreased serum levels of glutamin oxaloacetate transaminase (GOT) and glutamin pyruvate transaminase (GPT) by 12% from the control group so maqui berry improved liver function. This study suggests that oral administration of maqui berry extract may be helpful to improve those heath parameters like serum lipids profile, red blood cell level, liver protection. It would also be very useful for the development of high value products such as functional foods and pharmaceutics in the future.

Development of the Duplex PCR Method of Identifying Trachurus japonicus and Trachurus novaezelandiae (다중 PCR 분석법을 이용한 전갱이속 어종의 신속한 종판별 분석법 개발)

  • Reliable labeling of fish products can reassure consumers regarding the identity and quality of seafoods. Therefore, techniques that can identify adulteration or mislabeling are valuable. To rapidly identify two Trachurus species, Trachurus japonicus and Trachurus novaezelandiae, a highly efficient, rapid, duplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) having two species-specific primers simultaneously was identified. This species-specific primer focused on a single nucleotide mismatch in the 3'-terminal base of a primer designed in the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase (COI) subunit I DNA. To optimize the duplex PCR condition, gradient PCR reactions were conducted to determine the primer annealing temperature and the primer concentration. The PCR's product was observed on the gel, suggesting that DNA molecules may be useful in differentiating the two species. The length of the amplification fragments were 103 bp for Trachurus japonicus and 214 bp for Trachurus novaezelandiae, which, along with the species-specific primer visualized by agarose gel electrophoresis, enabled accurate distinction of the species of the Trachurus genus. These results indicate that the duplex PCR, which has a species-specific primer based on single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), can be useful for rapidly differentiating the two species of Trachurus. This duplex PCR analysis is simple, rapid, and reliable, and could be beneficial to protecting consumers' rights.

The Effect of Recovery Justice according to the Types of Service Failure on the Quality of a Customer-Brand Relationship (서비스 실패 유형에 따른 회복 공정성이 고객-브랜드 관계의 질에 미치는 영향)

  • In order to find how the recovery justice from the service procedure and result failure affects the quality of customer-brand relationship, we conducted this study following pre research, its correction and supplement of the customers who experienced some service failures in food restaurant. We selected the best five brands in Korean food franchise in the rank of the sales on basis of data of Korean Food Restaurant Information in year 2009. The participants of this research were the people who live in Seoul metropolitan area and ever experienced any service failure within recent 6 months. Of the 500 copies of survey questionnaires distributed, 391 were used for the analysis. The method used for this analysis was the SPSS for WIN 12.0 program and the analysis such as technical statistics analysis, reliability analysis, research element analysis and regression analysis were applied. As a result, the service shortage factor which is one of the service process failures was confirmed to affect procedural justice and distributive justice. It has been confirmed that procedural justice and distributive justice are influenced by the hygiene deficiency which is one of the result failures. It was also found that the product factor affects distribution justice. As for the effect of the quality of recovery justice and a customer-brand relationship, procedural justice and distributive justice were found to affect the mutual dependency while procedural justice affects a familiarity.

  • This study aims to suggest theoretical models to examine the composition factors of recognition, image, attitude toward Korean food and its globalization and investigate their relationships, which was analyzed based on the results of a survey. To achieve this research purpose, frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis and the analysis of Cronbach a values were performed using the SPSS 13.0 program, and multiple regression analysis and simple regression analysis were also performed to analyze their relationships. The results of this study are as follows. First, the recognition of Korean food influenced its image and attitude toward it. Second, image of Korean food had an effect on attitude toward it. Third, both image and attitude regarding Korean food influenced globalization of Korean food. Accordingly, what this study can contribute to in the development of Korean food culture are as follows. First, this study will contribute to making a good image of Korean food and its globalization by changing people's recognition, image, and attitude toward Korean food and making them interested in Korean food suitable for globalization. Second, this study will help to make detailed marketing strategies to globalize Korean products and culture through Korean food. Third, this study will be helpful for improving the image of Korean food and creating economic benefits by attracting Korean food tourism. Moreover, it will help to give Korean people hope and pride of their lives. Fourth, this study will help to promote activation of Korean food tourist resources by connecting Korean food recognized to be LOHAS and well-being foods with Korean cultural tourist resorts. Fifth, this study will make people have right recognition and attitude by developing nature-friendly and healthy Korean food culture. Sixth, this study will be a detonator for more active studies by encouraging researchers to be concerned about and participate in globalization and commercialization of Korean food continually.

  • Product design is being recognized as an important source of sustainable competitive advantage. This research explores the effects of design evaluative elements on brand loyalty through design values. The results of this study are as follows. Firstly, most design evaluative elements have positive effects on design values. Aesthetic, unique, feminine, noble, and utilitarian elements of design evaluation influence three types of design values: rational, kinesthetic, and emotional. While unique design evaluative element does not have significant effects on rational and kinesthetic design values, it has significant affect on the emotional design value positively. Secondly, three types of design values have positive effects on attitudinal brand loyalty. In addition, emotional and kinesthetic design values have positive influences on behavioral brand loyalty. However, the emotional design value has an indirect effect on behavioral brand loyalty through attitudinal brand loyalty. Lastly, attitudinal brand loyalty has a significant influence on behavioral brand loyalty positively.

Probe Study on the Failure Factors of Venture Companies (벤처기업의 부실요인에 대한 탐색적 연구)

  • The objective of this study is to find the failure factors of venture companies. We analyze 210 troubled venture companies, all of which have been under guarantee from the Korea Technology Finance Corporation over the last three years. Methods of analysis for failure factors are as follows. First, we categorize the failure factors into the four different types based on growth and profitability indicators in the financial statements of targeted venture companies. Then we analyzed the failure factors of the subject companies based on the troubled guarantee reports made by the Korea Technology Finance Corporation. If a venture company under its guarantee program falls into insolvency, the Korea Technology Finance Corporation make the troubled guarantee report to find out the failure factors and evaluate the recovery potentials. We identify 374 failure factors of venture companies through the analysis. The most prominent among them are deteriorating of business environments (79 factors) and decreasing or withdrawing orders from major suppliers (54 factors) due to bankruptcies or change in business plans. They are followed by slowing collection of accounts receivable (31 factors), dropping or frozen product price (24 factors) due to intensifying competition and escalating pressures from major suppliers, rising raw material costs both at home and abroad (21 factors). In addition, the nuclear power plant disaster in Japan, shut-down of the Kaesong Industrial Complex and subsequent lawsuits, delay in technology development projects, high cost-low efficiency management structure, etc., are also revealed as new factors causing trouble for venture companies.

  • 생명공학의 혁신적 발명성을 매우 잘 보여주는 성공사례의 하나가 사람락토페린을 함유한 형질전환 젖소의 개발이다. 우유의 모유화를 내걸고 있는 본 연구는 국내·외에 막대한 잠재시장 규모가 예상되고 있다. 그러나 생명공학 제품은 ‘생물 재해(Bio Hazard)’에 대한 우려와 윤리문제를 제기할 수 있기 때문에 대중인식(Public Acceptance)에 대한 연구가 매우 중요한 의미를 가지는 것이다. 이러한 상황인식하에 사람락토페린을 함유한 유제품에 대한 소비자행태분석(Consumer Behavior Analysis)을 수행하게 되었다. 본 연구에 사용된 연구방법은 비시장가치평가법 중 임의가치평가법(CVM)을 사용하고 있다. 임의가치평가법은 선진국 특히 본 이론의 발상지인 미국에서 환경재기 가치를 측정하는 방법으로 사용되어 오고 있는데 이를 신상품 및 과학기술의 가치평가법으로 확대하여 연구하여온 필자의 일련의 연구중의 한 시도이다. 좋은 CVM 연구를 수행하기 위해서는 CVM이 요구하는 가치평가방법에 맞추어 설문서가 구성되고 분석되는 일이 무엇보다도 중요한 일이다. 본 연구에서는 CVM의 연구방법에 맞추어 사람락토페린 강화우유에 대한 소비자지불의향(Consumer Willingness to Pay) 조사와 더불어 사람락토페린 강화우유에다가 DHA, 칼슘 등 새로운 기능성 물질을 추가하여 더욱 좋은 기능을 첨가한 경우의 구입할 용의와 지불의향에 대한 조사를 수행하였다. 본 연구에서는 과학기술에 의해 탄생된 신상품에 대한 임의가치평가법의 적용이라는 새로운 시도의 연구라는점을 감안하여 본 연구를 바탕으로 더욱 새로운 문제제기와 추가적인 연구가 필요하다고 생각된다.적인 자세를 견지한다. 한편, 적응의 원리에 입각한 교육은 문화와 전통에 대한 피동적 전승을 넘어서 사회의 변화에 따라 교육체제와 내용을 바꾸는 등 적극적으로 변화에 대응하고, 이러한 변화를 주도할 인간육성에 힘을 기울이는 교육방식을 취한다. 시대적 변화의 소용돌이 속에서 교육은 이제 기왕의 많은 교육적 신화들을 타파하고 뉴 밀레니엄을 준비해야할 기로에 서 있다. 현재의 변화를 슬기롭게 대처하고 미래의 변화에 능동적으로 적응하는 인간을 육성하기 위한 오늘날 교육의 사명은 우선 미래사회를 위한 교육정책의 방향을 수립하는 일이다. 교육정책은 국가의 교육방침으로서 현실 교육문제의 해결도 중요하지만 미래의 발전을 기약할 수 있는 장기적인 비젼과 목표 속에서 정립될 필요가 있다. 이러한 의도하에 본 연구는 21세기를 대비한 교육정책의 방향을 탐색하고 그에 따른 정책적 과제를 제시하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적하에 본고는 \circled1 과거 우리 나라의 교육정책을 반성적으로 회고하고, \circled2 미래사회에 대한 전망과 교육적 시사점을 분석하며, \circled3 마지막으로 21세기의 변화에 적응하기 위한 교육정책의 방향과 과제를 내용으로 제시하고자 한다.탄산염으로의 전환이 진행되고 있다. 이러한 배경으로부터 Uchida그룹에서 개발한 FeiCr/AVTi재료와 현재 분리판 재료로 사용증인 SUS 310, S SUS 316재료에 대해. 산화성 분위기의 5기압까지의 가압하에서, Li-K, Li-Na탄산염에 대하여 부 식거동을 검토한 결과, 가압하에서 내식성이 향상되는 것이 발견되었다. 이유로서는 가압하에서 용융탄산엽의 증가된 산화력으로 보다 치밀한 내식성 산화물 피막

  • The inhibitory effect of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), one of the antioxidants in green tea (Camellia sinensis), against Salmonella Enteritidis was evaluated in commercial braised quail eggs at two temperatures (4 and $25^{\circ}C$). Although S. Enteritidis was dose-dependently suppressed by EGCG in pure culture at $25^{\circ}C$, it was not inhibited in the sauce or eggs at this temperature. At low temperature ($4^{\circ}C$), S. Enteritidis was inhibited in both the sauce and eggs by $400{\mu}g/mL$ EGCG. Thus, EGCG at an appropriate concentration could be a useful food additive for inhibiting S. Enteritidis in braised quail eggs at low temperatures.

Effect of novel luminol-based blood detection reagents on DNA stability (새로운 루미놀 기반 혈흔 탐지 시약이 디엔에이에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구)

  • Detection of bloodstains is a very important process in scientific investigations, and luminol is often used for the detection of bloodstains that are not visible. Recently, new preparation methods of blood detection reagents based on luminol (BloodFlareA, B) were developed and reported to have higher active persistence and to be more economical than conventional blood detection reagent, BlueStar forensic. In this paper, we tested the specificity and effect of the BloodFlares (A and B) on DNA and compared them with those of BlueStar forensic. False positive results for the BloodFlares were not observed in semen, saliva, vaginal fluids, urine, sweat, and nasal discharge, but were observed in $CuSO_4$, $FeSO_4$, and bleach solutions, and the observed patterns were similar to those of BlueStar forensic. The effect on DNA was determined by analyzing the DNA yield, degradation index, and DNA profiling. Based on these results, we concluded that the BloodFlares based on luminol do not affect DNA stability and are applicable in forensics.

신문지 재활용 공정의 일차 점착성 이물질 실시간 정략을 위한 새로운 방법

  • 본 연구는 신문지 고지의 점착성 이물질 중 Primary Stickies의 정 량에 관한 것으로 서, 실제 신문지료를 화상분석하여 실시간으로 매크로크기의 점착성 이물질올 측정할 때 효율적인 측정조건을 탐색하여 제지공정의 l 현장에서 일차 점착성 이물질을 정량 하는 새로운 측정기의 측정 기준을 제시하고자 하였다. 이물질이란 제지공정에 의도적으로 첨가되지 않은 불질의 총칭으로 dirt 및 각종 점착 성 이물질 즉, stickies를 들 수 있다. 이 가운데 스틱키{stickies}란 부드럽고, 점착성을 나타내는 이물질의 총청으로 주로 점착제와 확스에 의해 형성된다. 스틱키는 고지 재활 용의 효율성을 가장 크게 저해하는 이물질로 와이어, 펠트 및 기타 공정요소에 부착되 어 초지 시 지절을 발생시킴으로써 생산성을 저하시킬 뿐 아니라, 외관상 상품가치와 인쇄적성올 저하시키며, 최종 제품의 강도적 물성 및 가공적성에도 영향을 미친다. 특 히 국내에서는 원가절감을 위해 고지의 재활용율올 증대시키고자 전력을 다하고 있으 며 환경보호 및 용수 절감올 위해 공정수를 절감하고 궁극적으로는 무방류화를 목표로 하고 있어 토지 계 내의 점착성 이물질의 투입과 농축 현상이 심각하게 진행되고 있는 실정이다. 초지공정에서 발생하는 스틱키 즉 점착성 이물질은 미세한 스크린의 슬롯 폭인 0.15 - -0.3mm 이상의 크기를 가져 스크린에 의해 분리될 수 있는 매크로 스틱키{macro s stickies}와 이보다 작은 마이크로 스틱키(micro stickies)로 크게 분류된다. 즉 매크로 스틱키는 스크린에 의해 분리될 수 있으나 마이크로 스틱키는 스크린을 통하여 기계적 으로 분리할 수 없다는 문제점을 지니고 있다. 스틱키는 또 거동 특성에 따라 primary s stickies와 secondary stickies로 구분할 수 있다. primary stickies는 펄핑과정에서 점착 성 이물질이 파괴됨에 따라 나타나지만, secondary stickies는 지류 제지공정의 백수에 용해 되거나 분산된 상태인 1때1 이하의 콜로이 드로 폰재 한다. 이 러 한 secondary stickies 는 pH, 온도의 변화나 각종의 첨가제에 의해 웅집이나 홉착 등을 발생할 수 있는 잠재 적 문제점 등을 가지고 있다. 예를 들어 양성 고분자의 첨가는 펄프 섬유를 웅집시킬 뿐 아니라 지료에 함유된 secondary dtickies의 안정성을 저하시켜 응집, 침적시키는 작용을 한다. 따라서 분리가 어렵고, 제지공정에서 문제를 일으키기 쉬운 2차 스퇴키를 적절히 제어하기 위한 기술 개발은 용수절감 뿐 아니라, 초지공정의 침적물 절감을 통 한 공정개선에도 매우 중요한 요소기술이라 할 수 있다.
