  • Faultline theery, introduced by Lau and Murnighan in 1998, adds valuable explanations in addition to what previous demographic studies have explored. However, previous research has not been able to fully integrate the characteristics embedded in the workplace environments, and the influence of faultlines in IT industries has yet to be explored. In this study, IT related influence is given considerable weight into traditional faultline theory and the impact of IT-based faultlines is revealed. Our study indicates that IT-based faultlines have a negative impact on task conflict and process conflict, and these two effectively also effectively mediate the influence of IT-based faultlines to group performance. Two potential moderators are studied and the Tesults indicate that commitment has no moderating effect between IT-based faultlines and group performance while open communication has strong moderating effect. Our empirical study reconfirmed that faultlines are important indicators in group work and also that faultlines are intimately related to various conflicts and group outcomes. We hope our research findings will be beneficial to organizations concerned with effective and efficient group work.

  • In this study, we explored the philosophical perspective of Ian Hacking on experimentation and discussed its potential impact on science education in schools. Traditionally, many philosophers have advocated a theory-driven view of experimentation, emphasizing its importance primarily in validating theories. Similarly, in the context of education, the prevailing perspective has been to focus on experimentation primarily as a means of confirming and proving theories. However, in contrast to this theory-driven perspective, philosophers like Hacking have proposed that experimentation itself possesses autonomy and vitality. Through their discussions, they have brought to light the significance of previously overlooked elements in experiments, such as tool usage, materials, and the involvement of scientists. They have prompted a reevaluation of the role and importance of experiments in scientific activities. Therefore, in this study, we consider the application of this philosophical standpoint to school experimental education. We anticipate that the phenomenon-centered perspective we propose in this research will be beneficial for teaching scientific practices, including tool usage, the involvement of experimenters, and modeling activities.

  • As digital mobile technology has advanced, vertical videos have emerged as a prominent format in the contemporary media field, presenting a new visual language that challenges traditional horizontal-centric aesthetic norms. This study delves into the visual and structural parallels and distinctions between traditional East Asian Hanging scrolls and contemporary vertical videos by applying traditional spatial composition techniques such as the 'Three Distances', 'One River, Two Banks', 'Intended Blank', and 'Unity of Poetry, Calligraphy, and Painting' to the creation of modern vertical videos. Through this comparative analysis, the research examines how vertical layouts enhance depth and layering of the screen, deepen emotional expression, and offer creators new avenues for expression. By juxtaposing the spatial compositions of traditional East Asian Hanging scrolls with those prevalent in today's digital vertical videos, this study seeks to uncover new visual languages and aesthetic values within the evolving media field.

  • Many students have experienced difficulties due to the discontinuity in instruction between arithmetic and algebra, and in the field of elementary education, algebra is often treated somewhat implicitly. However, algebra must be learned as algebraic thinking in accordance with the developmental stage at the elementary level through the expansion of numerical systems, principles, and thinking. In this study, algebraic thinking-based classes were developed and conducted for 6th graders in elementary school, and the effect on the ability to solve word-problems in fraction division was analyzed. During the 11 instructional sessions, the students generalized the solution by exploring the relationship between the dividend and the divisor, and further explored generalized representations applicable to all cases. The results of the study confirmed that algebraic thinking-based classes have positive effects on their ability to solve fractional division word-problems. In the problem-solving process, algebraic thinking elements such as symbolization, generalization, reasoning, and justification appeared, with students discovering various mathematical ideas and structures, and using them to solve problems Based on the research results, we induced some implications for early algebraic guidance in elementary school mathematics.
