  • 정보화 사회에 이어 고도정보화 사회가 되면서 학교에서도 컴퓨터를 활용한 교육의 중요성이 날로 높아지고 있으며 학습자 서로의 도움을 중시하는 협동학습 또한 점점 더 강조되고 있다. 이에 초등학교 국어과의 연극단원을 가르치는데 학생의 발달 단계에 맞는 연극 유형을 알아보고 협동학습의 여러 모형 중 집단탐구모형에 기초하여 모둠 구성원들이 주도적으로 연극 유형을 골라 스스로 탐색, 토의 한 후 실제로 연극을 할 수 있는 시스템을 설계했다. 연극 학습의 특성상 초등학교의 교과서에 나오는 극본을 조사하고 이를 실제 학습에 활용 가능한 10가지 연극 유형으로 분류하여 학생들이 적합한 유형을 선택하거나 활용할 수 있도록 제시하였으며 가능한 동영상 자료를 중심으로 시스템의 컨텐트를 구성하였다.

The Effect of Inquiry Instruction Strategy Enhancing the Activity of Making Variables to Improve on Students' Creative Problem Solving Skills (변인 탐색 활동을 강화한 탐구 수업 전략이 창의적 문제 해결력 신장에 미치는 효과)

  • The purposes of this study were to develop teaching strategy enhancing the activity to explore variables and to examine the instructional influences on students' creative thinking skills and critical thinking skills. In this study, a model using listing-excluding-controlling variables (DPAS model) was designed and applied to the existing 'Teaching model for the enhancement of the creative problem solving skills'. And it was implemented to preservice science teachers for the one semester. Results indicated that the experimental group presented statistically meaningful improvement in creative thinking skills, especially in recognizing problems, making hypothesis, controlling of variables and interpreting & transforming of data (p<.05). In addition, the strategy contributed to improve critical thinking skills, especially in making hypothesis and making conclusion & generalization (p<.05).

Development of a Mentorship Education Model for the Gifted of the Science Education Institute (과학영재교육원 사사교육을 위한 모형 개발)

  • This study was performed to develop a model for mentorship education in the science education institute for the gifted. Existing mentorship education models were focused on R&E, which involved science high school students as research participants. For this purpose, a new model was proposed with comparatively definite stages and terms, and based on the theoretical background concerning science inquiry abilities and scientific creativities or the mentorship education in the science education institute for the gifted. Existing mentorship models for science-gifted students were analyzed and compared with the scientific inquiry process and science paper form. A science paper form consisting of four stages was selected. A new model was constructed consisting of six stages, and this model was modified to be made fit for application to students in the physics mentorship course at the science education institute for the gifted in K National University. Good points and improvable points of the model through the application were identified, and the model was modified accordingly. In conclusion, a new model was proposed as a mentorship model for science-gifted students. This model was constructed using the PREPARATION-INTRODUCTION-METHOD-RESULT-CONCLUSION-FINISH format.

  • This study was conducted to develop pre-engineering educational program model based on STEM integration approach. To accomplish this purpose literature review and content validity ratio survey were carried out. The main results of this study were as follows: First, the conceptual model of STEM integration approach was constituted. Second, the conceptual model of pre-engineering educational program model based on STEM integration approach was proposed. Third, the formation steps of inquiry project activity, problem solving activity, and creative engineering design activity were developed to structure the educational program.

Middle School Students' Construction of Physics Inquiry Problems and Variables Isolation and Clarification during Small Group Open-inquiry Activities (중학생의 소집단 자유탐구활동 중 물리 영역 탐구문제의 구성과 변인 추출 및 명료화 과정)

  • The study aimed to analyze middle school students construction of physics inquiry problems for open inquiry from the viewpoint of variable isolation and clarification, and investigate students' difficulties during the processes of variable isolation and clarification to get implications for teaching and learning strategies for small group open inquiry activities which have been included in the 2007 national curriculum. The participants were 4 students who had attended an outreach program for the science gifted run by a university institution located in Seoul area. They performed an open inquiry on egg drop for 13 lessons for 30 hours. Level descriptions for variable isolation and clarification have been developed and applied to analyze students' inquiry problems and variables included by the problems. Students iterated inquiry processed 5 times and the inquiry problem showed progress gradually. Dependent variables have been isolated ahead and the levels of variable isolation and clarification showed higher than the independent variables. Many kinds of independent variables isolated extensively and the independent variables and control variables have been mingled. One of the reasons why students had some difficulties in isolation of independent variables could be the absence of theoretical models. The realities of school lab could restrict the variable isolation and clarification as well as topic selections. Some sensory or extensive variables such as broken eggs and drop height seem to be salient to be focused on as core variables. Lack of background knowledges could be one of the reasons for students' difficulties in variable clarification, such as theoretical definitions and operational definitions. As a result of lacking background knowledges, students could not construct theoretical models even though they could isolate and clarify variables as scientific lexical definitions. Some perceptions of inquiry as trial and error or reckless establishment of causal relations between variables could be accounted as one reason.

  • In learning activities. research learning is mostly carried out in a laboratory. Learners can approach a learning process with ease and are given the chance to do the self-directed study one research experiments in advance by designing a process of research learning in the laboratory by a web-based simulation courseware. And this can offer a learner-centered model with which learners can share. exchange and interact information each other. Using a web in instructing and learning can be an appropriate implement of research and also gives learner-centered learning environment. This thesis is a study on design and implementation of a web-based simulation courseware for learning Kinetic energy through the research learning which is one of the self leading learning methods.

Pre-Service Chemistry Teachers' Awareness of Visually Impaired Students' Learning Situation through Scientific Inquiry about Molecular Structure of Ice in Darkroom (얼음의 분자구조에 대한 암실 속 과학탐구 활동에서 시각장애학생의 학습상황에 대한 예비 화학교사들의 인식)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the perspective of pre-service chemistry teachers on the learning situations of visually impaired students through scientific inquiry in a darkroom and to propose a teaching and learning method for students with visual impairments. Twenty-one pre-service chemistry teachers from college of education in Gyeongbuk were encouraged to explore individually hands-on model for the molecular structure of ice freely, and had a discussion with a one of the researchers during the activity. All the conversation and discussion were audio-taped and transcribed for analysis. As a result, pre-service chemistry teachers realized that learning situation of the visually impaired students was quite different with their perception while exploring and figuring out hands-on model of the molecular structure of ice in the darkroom. They already learned and could see this model by themselves but also recognized that visually impaired students had inconvenience and difficulty in learning science concepts. Based on these reflections, some pre-service chemistry teachers suggested directions for modification to fit visually impaired students' needs more.
