  • 청정석탄이용기술개발의(CCT : Clean Coal Technology) 일환으로 차세대 발전방식으로 유력시되고 있는 기술인 석탄가스화발전기술(IGCC), 석탄가스화 연료전지(IGFC)등에서 고온건식탈황은 필수요소기술이다. 고온건식탈황기술의 핵심기술은 탈황제개발고 공정기술개발로 나누어 볼 수 있다. 탈황제개발은 국내고유 탈황제개발 연구가 진행 중에 있고 유동층과 고속유동층에 적합한 탈황제를 kg단위로 성형하여 공정개발에서 반응특성 실험을 하였다.(중략)

  • 석탄가스화복합발전(IGCC) 시스템에서 합성가스 중에 포함된 황화수소($H_2S$)는 후단의 가스 터빈과 같은 장치의 부식을 방지하고, 합성가스를 이용하는 연료전지 등의 연계 공정에서 요구하는 수준에 맞추어 정제되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 $H_2S$ 정제공정 추가에 따른 IGCC 시스템의 효율저하를 최소화하기 위하여 고온고압에서 사용가능한 탈황제를 분무건조법을 이용하여 제조하고 제조된 탈황제에 대해 물성 및 황 흡수능 시험을 실시하였다. 형상, 내마모도, 평균입자크기, 충진밀도와 함께 제조된 탈황제가 적용되는 유동층 공정에 적합한 강도를 보유하는지 여부를 미국표준시험방법에 의하여 측정하였다. 황 흡수능은 열중량분석기를 반응기로 사용하여 모사 합성 가스 분위기에서 측정하였다. 분무건조 성형된 탈황제의 일부가 구형이 아닌 타원형 또는 도넛 형태를 나타내고 있어 형상 개선을 위한 제조방법 개선이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 제조된 탈황제는 기공도가 65% 이상으로 macropore가 기공부피의 대부분을, mesopore가 비표면적의 대부분을 제공하고 있었다. 소성온도를 650 $^{\circ}C$에서 750 $^{\circ}C$로 증가시킴에 따라 대체로 강도가 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 열중량분석기로 측정된 황 흡수능은 약 10 wt%로 나타났다. 제조된 탈황제 중 일부는 유동층 공정에 적합한 물성을 보유하고 있었으며 반응성 또한 기존에 개발된 탈황제에 버금가는 성능을 나타내어 향후 공정 적용이 가능할 것으로 분석되었다.

  • Zinc titanate sorbents for $H_2S$ removal were prepared and their reactivities were studied for high temperature desulfurization of coal gas. Sulfidation of zinc titanates by $H_2S$ sorption was conducted in a packed-bed tubular flow reactor at the temperature range of $550{\sim}750^{\circ}C$, and the results reveal that $650^{\circ}C$ was the optimal sulfidation temperature with respect to desulfurization efficiency and zinc loss. The structural change of sorbent particle was investigated by SEM analysis for the forbents sulfided at $650^{\circ}C$ and subsequently regenerated at $750^{\circ}C$. The stability of desulfurization capability as well as the mechanical stability of the zinc titanates was studied by means of the successive cycles of sulfidation-regeneration of sorbents, and the sorbent samples taken after the 10th cycle were characterized using BET, XRD, and SEM/EDX analyses. Zinc titanate sorbents exhibited nearly constant desulfurization capability in the successive cycle operation.

  • 탄화수소 연료(LNG, LPG)를 개질하여 수소를 제조하는 연료 처리 공정 중, 탈황 기술은 촉매의 활성저하 및 전극의 피독을 방지하기 위한 필수 기술이다. 본 연구에서는 도시가스 및 액화석유 가스용 부취제로 사용되는 유기 황화합물(,DMS, THT, TBM)을 제거하기 위한 탈황제로서 Cu/ZnO계 흡착제를 개발하였다. 공침법을 이용하여 흡착제를 제조하여 각 부취제별로 상온 및 고온에서의 흡착탈황 성능을 조사하였으며 또한, 이의 특성분석을 행하였다. $Cu/ZnO/Al_2O_3$ 탈황제는 메탄으로부터 고온에서 TH, DMS, TBM+THT 등의 황화합물들을 매우 효과적으로 제거할 수 있었다. 특히, TBM+THT의 혼합가스에서 TBM에 대해 선택적인 흡착을 보였다. THT 흡착에서 흡착온도가 $300^{\circ}C$ 이상에서는, 흡착과정 동안 황의 상호작용으로 인해 금속황화물이 생성되었다.

Physical Properties and Sulfidation Kinetics of Mn-Based Sorbent for Hydrogen Sulfide Removal (황화수소 제거를 위한 망간계 탈황제의 물리적 특성과 황화반응 속도)

  • The experiments have been made to develop manganese-based sorbent(MT, MFT) for the removal of hydrogen sulfide from simulated hot coal gases. Manganese-based sorbents were tested in an ambient-pressure fixed-bed reactor to calculate H2S removal efficiency. and a three hole jet attrition tester to characterize the sorbent physical properties. According to the experimental results of attrition test. the attrition resistance of 5% bentonite containing sorbent was higher than that of 2% bentonite. The attrition resistances of both sorbents increased with induration temperature. Effects of sulfidation temperature. space velocity. and $H_2S$ concentrations on the $H_2S$ removal efficiency were investigated. Experimental results showed that $H_2S$ could be removed from 5,100ppmv to 20ppmv at $450^{\circ}C$, and to 30~65ppmv at $550{\sim}650^{\circ}C$ for both MT/MFT sorbents. As for the change of space velocity, the breakthrough time was decreased with space velocity.

The Study on Attrition Resistance of ZnO/natural-zeolite/Fe$_2$O$_3$ Desulfurization Sorbents with CaO for Hot Gas Clean-up (산화칼슘이 첨가된 ZnO/Natural-zeolite/Balho Kim/Fe$_2$O$_3$ 탈황제의 내마모성특성 연구)

  • ZZFCa sorbents for hot gas desulfurization in IGCC were prepared by adding calcium oxide to ZZF sorbent in order to improve its attrition resistance in this study. ASTM attrition test for the sorbent was performed at several different weight percentages of CaO to investigate the attrition characteristics of ZBFCa sorbents as a function of CaO content. Attrition index of ZZF without CaO was 28.3% and its collected attrition index was 10.8%. ZZFCa-3 containing 3 wt% CaO showed the lowest attrition index (AI=17.3%, CAI=8.8%) in the test. From the results of SEM morphologies and particle size distribution measurements, ZZFCa-3 maintained a fine shape and a desirable average particle size even after attrition test. In the experiments of sulfidation/regeneration for ZZFCa-3 sorbent concentration of hydrogen sulfide in coal gas was lowered from 10000 ppm to below 1 ppm. Sulfur removing capacity was about 28.8 g S/100 g sorbent. Neither formation of CaSO$_4$ was observed in XRD measurement nor SO$_2$ slippage was observed during sulfidation process.

Development of Fluorite-free Desulfurizing Agent for Molten Iron using Al-dross and Ladle Slag (알루미늄 드로스와 래들 슬래그를 활용한 무형석 용선 탈황제 개발)

  • In developing an optimum steelmaking process, the purity of the product, environmental impact, capability and cost of the process should be considered. Desulfurization of molten iron is conducted during preliminary treatment stage before converter operation. Although fluorite is added as a desulfurizing agent in CaO and $CaCO_3$ based agents, the concentration of fluorine in slag is strictly regulated. In order to develop desulfurizing agent without fluorine, CaO was mixed with Al dross and ladle slag containing alumina. The characteristics and desulfurizing capacity of the CaO based desulfurizing agent thus prepared were tested by varying temperature of Kanvara Reactor. Our results showed that the desulfurizing capacity of the samples prepared in this work was found to be similar to that of the traditional desulfurizing agents with fluorine.

  • Theoretical reviews of integrated gasification combined cycle one of the clean coal technologies and trends in the study and technology development for high temperature desulfurization sorbents were investigated. Reactivity, durability and abrasion resistance is an important key for development of high temperature desulfurization sorbents, the kind of things include calcium, zinc, manganese, iron and copper-based sorbents. Current status of high temperature desulfurization sorbents, manufacturing techniques of zinc-based sorbent in advanced countries has commercialized. In case of Korea, various research studies are underway to commercialize the Zn and non Zn-based high temperature desulfurization sorbents to cheaper and superior capability using various supports.

  • 고온건식탈황기술은 고온고압에서 석탄가스에 함유된 황화합물을 제거하는 기술로 석탄가스화에 의해 생성된 고온의 석탄가스의 열손실을 최소화하여 열효율이 높은 기술이다. 본 연구에서는 석탄으로부터 합성원유를 생산하는 0.3 배럴/일 규모 석탄액화(CTL)공정의 연계운전을 통하여 건식탈황공정의 성능을 평가하였다. 0.3 배럴/일 규모 석탄액화공정은 석탄가스화기, 건식탈황공정, 액화공정으로 구성되어 있으며 30 atm의 고압에서 운전된다. 건식탈황공정은 석탄가스화기와 액화공정 사이에 위치하여 석탄가스화로부터 생성된 석탄가스에 함유된 황화합물을 아연계 건식탈황제에 의해 제거한 후 액화반응기로 공급하여 황화합물에 의한 촉매의 피독을 막아주는 역할을 수행한다. 본 연구에서는 기존에 개발된 두 개의 기포유동층 반응기로 구성된 탈황장치를 30 atm에서 운전이 가능하도록 수정/보완하여 실제 운전압력인 30 atm의 고압에서 연속운전을 수행하였다. 실험 결과 탈황효율은 99% 이상이며 탈황반응기 출구 황화합물의 농도는 1 ppmv 이하로 유지하였다.

  • The aim of this study is to research applicable possibility or Dry Sorbent Injection Technique(DSI) in sox removal process using Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) software package. It will be applied for 500MW in capacity coal-fired thermal power plant operated by South Korea N. Power Co., Ltd. The DSI process is adapted between a preheater and an EP process in the technological assembly. The numerical analysis performs in predicting and optimizing of DSI process's characteristics, which consists of structure of duct, position of injection nozzles, injection speed, and dispersion of sorbent. Computing results are shown that degree of sorbent dispersion depends on structure of duct and position of injection nozzles strongly. The highest dispersion efficiency was obtained when we set a Lobed-plate inside the duct and 6 injection nozzles on the duct(4 injection nozzles at the corners and 2 injection nozzles on upper and under walls as a rectangle duct shape). We also know that change of injection speed of sorbent doesn't have an large effect on the sorbent dispersion but it can effect to drop pressure.
