Relationships between Soil Carbon Storage and Soil Properties of Urban Parks in Jinju-si, Gyeongsangnam-do (진주시 도시공원의 토양 탄소저장량과 토양성질의 관계)

  • This study was performed to determine carbon (C) storage of urban parks [Hadae park (established year: 1977), Songlim park (established year: 1990), Pyeonggeo park (1992), Chojeon park (2005)] in Jinju-si, Gyeongsangnam-do. The soil at 0-30 cm depth was collected to measure soil C concentration. Bulk density in all soil depths was not significantly different among the four parks, whereas coarse fragments (>2 mm) were significantly higher in the Chojeon park than in the Pyeonggeo park. Soil pH and electrical conductivity were highest in Chojeon park among four parks. Soil C concentrations in all soil depths were significantly higher in the Hadae park established in 19 77 compared with the other parks established since 1990. Mean soil C concentration at 0-30 cm was the highest in the Hadae park (1.04%), followed by the Chojeon park (0.87%), the Songlim park (0.75%), and the Pyeonggeo park (0.57%). Soil C storage at 0-10 cm was not significantly different among the four urban parks, whereas soil C storage at 10-20 cm and 20-30 cm was higher in the Hadae parks than in the other parks. Total soil C storage was significantly higher in the Hadae park (28,425 kg C ha-1) than in the Pyeonggeo park (15,622 kg C ha-1). Mean soil C concentration and C storage were positively correlated with silt content and negatively correlated with sand content. The results suggest that soil C storage of urban parks in Jinju-si might be related to the established period of parks and silt contents.

  • 열 화학기상증착법은 여러 가지 그래핀의 제작방법 중 대면적으로 양질의 그래핀을 효과적으로 합성할 수 있는 방법으로 널리 이용되고 있다. 이 방법으로 그래핀을 합성할 경우, 주요 변수로 성장 온도와 촉매 금속이 있으며 이를 적절히 조절함으로써 합성되는 그래핀의 결정성과 층수를 조절할 수 있다[1-3]. 본 연구에서는 탄소 용해도가 작은 두꺼운 촉매 금속 기판 위에 선택적인 위치에 탄소 용해도가 큰 얇은 촉매 금속을 증착하여 그래핀의 층수를 적절하게 제어하고자 한다. 그래핀을 합성하기 위해 온도를 증가시키는 과정에서 두 층의 촉매 금속은 표면 에너지를 낮추기 위해 합금을 형성하게 되며, 이 때 탄소 용해도가 변화할 것으로 예상된다. 이 변화하는 탄소 용해도에 맞추어 탄소 공급원인 메탄 가스를 주입하는 시기를 적절히 조절하게 되면, 합성되는 그래핀의 층수 조절이 가능할 것이라 예상한다. 탄소 용해도가 큰 금속으로 니켈을, 탄소 용해도가 작은 금속으로 구리를 선택하였다. 우선 니켈의 확산 거리를 계산하여 메탄 가스를 주입하는 적절한 온도를 결정하였으며, 이 온도를 기준으로 표면에서의 니켈의 함량을 분석하였다. 니켈의 함량과 표면에서의 탄소의 구성비의 관계를 조사한 결과, 본 실험에서 이용한 방법으로 그래핀의 층수를 조절하는 것이 가능하다는 것을 확인하였다.

The Preparation and Property of Carbon Foams from Carbon Black Embedded Pitch Using PU Template (카본블랙이 내첨된 핏치로부터 폴리우레탄 조공제를 이용한 탄소 폼의 제조 및 특성)

  • To improve mechanical strength of carbon foams, the carbon black (CB) added carbon foams were fabricated by impregnating different contents of carbon black (CB) and mesophase pitch using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) solution into polyurethane foam and being followed by heat treatment. The cell wall-thicknesses of carbon foams were controlled by adding amounts of CB, and it was confirmed that the compressive strength of carbon foams was increased as increasing cell wall-thickness. The compressive strength had the highest value of $0.22{\pm}0.05MPa$ with the highest bulk density of $0.44g/cm^3$ when adding 5 wt% CB in carbon foam. However, the thermal conductivity was decreased by adding CB in carbon foam. The results indicated that the thermal conductivities of carbon foams were reduced by increased interlayer spacing ($d_{002}$) with the addition of CB in carbon foams.

고질소 첨가 316L 스테인리스강의 품질특성 연구

  • STS 316L 강은 합금성분 중 탄소 함량을 0.03wt.% 이하로 규제하여 내식성이 향상되었고 용접 후 열처리가 불필요하여 널리 사용되어 왔으나, 탄소의 함량이 낮아 강도가 낮으므로 N을 첨가하여 강도를 높인 강으로 대체되는 추세이다. STS 316L 강에 첨가되는 N함량을 0.041∼0.15wt.% 범위로 변화시켜 N 첨가량에 따라 열간 압연 중 변형저항이 변화되는 정도를 측정하였으며, 동시에 최종제품의 기계적 성질, 입계예민화 정도, 충격특성 및 내 SCC성 변화를 조사하였다. N 첨가량이 증가할수록 열간 압연은 힘들어지나, 품질특성은 향상됨을 알 수 있었다.

Electrical Properties and Electromagnetic Shielding Effectiveness of Milled Carbon Fiber/Nylon Composites (분쇄형 탄소 섬유/나일론 복합재료의 전기적 성질과 전자파 차폐 효율)

  • DC and AC electrical conductivity and electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness of milled carbon fiber/nylon composites were investigated with the kind of nylon matrix. Percolation transition at which the conductivity is sharply increased was observed at about 7 vol% of milled carbon fiber. Nylon 46 as a matrix was more effective to obtain high electrical conductivity than nylon 6, and the difference in conductivity was occurred by the treatment of coupling agent. Frequency dependence of AC conductivity could be explained by relaxation phenomenon at just below percolation and resonance phenomenon at 40 vol% of carbon fiber, respectively. Negative temperature coefficient phenomenon was found in all composites. Electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness was increased with the concentration of carbon fiber. At a high conductivity region the return loss was more dominant to the total shielding effectiveness than the absorption loss.

Effect of Cassia tora Ethanol Extracts on Carbon Tetrachloride-Induced Liver Injury in Rats (흰쥐에 있어서 사염화탄소 유발 간손상에 미치는 결명자 에탄올 추출물의 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of Cassia tora ethanol extracts on carbon tetrachloride($CCl_4$)-induced hepatotoxicity in rats. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into the following 4 groups: normal group, $CCl_4$, treated group, $CCl_4-0.25%$ Cassia tora ethanol extracts group and $CCl_4-0.5%$ Cassia tora ethanol extracts group. Rats were fed with each experimental diet and water for 5 weeks. Liver weights of rats treated only with $CCl_4$, were significantly increased compared to normal group, but not in rats fed diet containing Cassia tora ethanol extracts. Cholesterol and triglyceride contents in serum and liver were also not influenced by either $CCl_4$, treatment or the supplementation of Cassia tora ethanol extracts. $CCl_4$, treatment significantly increased ALP activities, however the supplementation of Cassia tora ethanol extracts significantly decreased the activities of serum ALT, AST, ${\gamma}-GTP$ in dose-dependent manner. Cassia tora ethanol extracts significantly reduced $CCl_4-induced$ elevation of liver TBARS contents. Activities of superoxide dismutase and catalase were decreased by $CCl_4$, treatment, however by the supplement of Cassia tora ethanol extracts slightly increased activities of SOD and catalase. The activity of glutathione peroxidase in groups fed diets containing Cassia tora ethanol extracts was significantly decreased compared to that of the control group. These results suggest that Cassia tora ethanol extracts may exert protective effect against $CCl_4-induced$ liver injury through the prevention of lipid peroxidation.

Capacitance Characteristics of Fly Ash for Monitoring the Unburned Carbon Contained in Fly Ash (석탄회 미연탄소함량 동시측정을 위한 석탄회 정전용량 분석에 관한 연구)

  • The carbon-in-ash system for simultaneously monitoring the unburned carbon in fly ash produced in a coal-fired power plan is designed and evaluated using the domestic fly ash produced in the coal-fired power plant. Real time monitoring is very important to control the combustion of the boiler in the coal-fired power plant and the purification system for fly ash recycling. The carbon-in-ash system based on the capacitance measurement consists of a LCR meter, a duct collector and an electrode cell. The capacitance of fly ash increases linearly with increasing fly ash carbon contents. The water content in fly ash plays an important role on the ash capacitance. The empirical equation for predicting the content of unburned carbon in fly ash produced in the domestic Boryung, Hadong and Samchenpo coal-fired power plants can be derived in the range of carbon content 0-20%.

Measurement of hydrogen content in a-C:H films prepared by ECR-PECVD (ECR-PECVD 방법으로 증착된 a-C:H 박막의 수소함량 측정)

  • Hydrogenated amorphous carbon (a-C:H) films were deposited by ECR-PECVD (electron cyclotron resonance-plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition) method with deposition conditions such as ECR plasma source power, gas composition of methane and hydrogen, deposition time and substrate bias voltage. The hydrogen content in the films has been measured by ERDA (elastic recoil detection analysis) using 2.5 MeV $He^{++}$ ion beam. From the results of AES (Auger electron spectroscopy), RBS (Rutherford backscattering spectrometry) and ERDA, the composition elements of deposited film were confirmed the carbon atom and the hydrogen atom. It was observed by FTIR (Fourier transform infrared) that the hydrogen contents in the film varied according to the deposition conditions. In deposition condition of substrate bias voltage, the hydrogen contents were decreased remarkably because the amount of dehydrogenation in films was increased as the substrate bias voltage increased. In the rest deposition conditions, the hydrogen contents in the film were measured in the range 45~55%.
