Fabrication and Characteristics of Anode-Supported Tube for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (습식법에 의한 고체산화물 연료전지용 연료극 지지체관의 제조 및 특성 연구)

  • To develop anode-supported tubular cell with proper porosity, we have investigated the anode substrate and t the electrolyte-coated anode tube. The anode substrate was manufactured as a function of carbon content in the range of 20 to 50 vol.%. As the carbon COntent increased, the porosity of the anode substrate increased slightly and the carbon c content with proper porosity is found to be 30 vol.%. The anode-supported tube was fabricated by extrusion process a and the electrolyte layer was coated on the anode tube by slurry coating process. The anode-supported tube was cofired successfully at $^1400{\circ}C$ in air. The porosity of the anode tube was 35%. From the gas permeation test, the anode t tube was found to be porous enough for gas supply. On the other hand, the anode-supported tube with electrolyte layer indicated a very low gas permeation rate. This means that the coated electrolyte was dense.

  • We present a numerical investigation on gaseous (ethylene-air mixture) detonation in the elastoplastical metal tubes to understand the wall effects associated with the developing detonation instability. The acoustic disturbances originating from the rapidly expanding tube walls reach the detonating flame surface, thereby causing flame distortions and total energy losses. The compressible Navier-Stokes equations with equation of state for gas and elasto-plastic deformation field equations for inert tubes are solved simultaneously to understand the complex multi-material interaction in the rapidly expanding gas pipe. In order to track governing variables across the material interface, we use the hybrid particle level-set and ghost fluid methods to precisely estimate the interfacial quantities. Features observed from the deforming (thin) tube show substantially different behavior when a detonation propagates in the rigid (thick) tube with no acoustically responding wall conditions.

  • 1월 13일, 건축사회관 2층 김순하홀에서 목조건축 활성화를 주제로 월간 건축사 좌담회가 진행됐다. 참석자들은 탄소저감, 친환경 등 글로벌 이슈로 떠오르기 시작한 목조건축 활성화 과제가 이제 더는 미룰 수 없는 주제라는 데 공감하고, 경제적·환경적 가치를 창출할 수 있는 목조건축의 방향성에 관해 논의했다. 현재 목재는 과거의 한계를 넘어 원하는 대로 구현할 수 있는 기술력을 갖추고 있다. 이날 좌담회에서는 목조건축 활성화를 위해 전통적인 목재 또는 목조 건축을 떠올리는 과거 시선에서 벗어나, 사양 중심이 아닌 성능을 중심으로 한 섬세한 기준의 제도개선과 그러한 제도가 뒷받침되는 정부 차원에서의 프로젝트가 필요하고, 또 건축사들의 적극적인 도전이 필요하다는 의견이 제시됐다.

  • The pipes using in water-based fire protection systems are used steel pipes for ordinary piping, carbon steel pipes for pressure service, copper and copper alloy seamless pipes and tubes, etc. By last buildings of high-rising, complexity, in fire protection systems, the corrosion resistance, easy construction, lightweight and cost-effective use of the pipes is being considered. Among the pipes, the possibility of used for fire protection system being used in the existing copper pipe of material properties, strength, corrosion resistance, heat resistance through and compare the performance was evaluated. As a result of that assessment light gauge stainless steel pipes for ordinary piping (KS D 3595) at a water pressure of less than 1.2 MPa can be used in sufficient physical properties, strength, corrosion resistance, heat resistance and have been observed.

  • Carbon-14 is one of the major radionuclides released by CANDU Nuclear Power Plants(NPPs). It is almost always emitted as gas through the stack. From CANDU NPPs about 95% of all carbon-14 is released as carbon dioxide. Carbon-14 is a low energy beta emitter which, therefore, gives only a small skin dose from external radiation. As carbon dioxide Is physiologically rather inert gases for man's metabolism, the inhalation dose is probably less than 1 % of the ingestion dose. But this source of carbon-14, formed in a closed, nor-oxidative environment, was subsequently released into the workplace as an insoluble particulate when these systems were opened lip for re-tubing at CANDU NPPs. As a part of the improvement of dosimetry program at Wolsong Nuclear Power Plants, the carbon-14 metabolism based on references was investigated and studied to setup the internal dosimetry program due to inhalation of carbon-14.

A Basic Study on Composting of Organic Household Waste using Small Vessels (소형 퇴비화 용기를 이용한 유기성 주방폐기물의 퇴비화에 관한 기초연구)

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the possibility of composting for organic solid waste from restaurants and domestics. Small three vessels were prepared which were conditioned to semianaerobic, convectional and air-blowed type. During the experiment period for 4 months, the values of volatile solid(VS) %, moisture % and carbon/nitrogen (C/N) ratio of the wastes in the vessels were stabilized, 80 % to 40-50 %, 80 % to 48-55 % and 18 to 8-10, respectively. On the basis of VS % and C/N ratio, the reactions were more adaptable to 2nd order formula than to 1st order one, Reaction rate constant of the 3 vessels were estimated, $4.96{\times}10^{-5}(day^{-1})$ in the semianaerobic type, $5.82{\times}10^{-5}(day^{-1})$ in the convectional type and $8.42{\times}10^{-5}(day^{-1})$ in the air-blowed type on VS. Compared reaction rate constants(k), it can be said that composting period shorten if air is supplied artificially and that vessels simular to those of this study are useful for household organic waste at the backyards.

  • It is the objective of this study to estimate J-integral by numerical analysis, in which J-integral as aparameters in fracture mechanics can be used to evaluate unstable ductile fracture which is a important problem with respect to structural stability when the scope is beyond small scale yielding criteria. For this, 8-node isoparametric singular element as crack tip element of a cracked material was used to solve plastic blunting phenomenon at crack tip, and crack opening was forced to start when J-value was exceeding fracture toughness $J_{IC}$ of the material. And crack propagation behaviour was treated by using crack opening angle. From this study, it was shown that crack opening, stable propagation and unstable opening point of the cracked material found by using J-value obtained from this study were accord with the other study, so think, J-value obtained from this study can be directly used as a parameter in fracture mechanics to deal with the problem of stable propagation of crack and unstable ductile fracture.

  • The measurement of residual chlorine as a disinfectant is very important to ensure the safety against the pathogenic microbes and to suppress injection. The portable free chlorine sensor was fabricated with a disposable strip format by a screen printing method. The strip sensors prepared with a carbon-Ag/AgCl(cathode-anode) combination exhibited less interfering responses towards combined chlorine species(especially $NHCl_2$) and oxygen than the sensors prepared with other metals(i.e., gold and platinum). Free chlorine was determined chronoamperometrically with carbon-based electrodes at an applied potential of -0.3 V(vs. Ag/AgCl). A channel was built on the strip-type electrode for easy sampling, and the resulting strip sensors were employed to determine the concentrations of residual free chlorine.

  • The absorption and the interference shielding of electromagnetic wave have been very important issues for commercial and military purposes. The stealth technique is one of the most typical applications of electromagnetic wave absorption technology. This study has started for the development of composite fillers containing dielectric and magnetic lossy materials. To improve the electromagnetic characteristics of conductive nano fillers, carbon nanofibers (CNFs) with nickel-phosphorous (Ni-P) or nickel-iron (Ni-Fe) have been fabricated by the electroless plating process. Observations by the electron microscopy (SEM/TEM) and element analyzer (EDS/ELLS) showed the uniform Ni-P and Ni-Fe coated CNFs. The compositions of the plating layers were about Ni-6wt%P and Ni-70wt%Fe, respectively. The average thicknesses of the plating layers were about $50\;{\sim}\;100\;nm$.

  • Thus paper summarizes the procedures to develop the downscaled payload kick motor for KSR-III by KARI. Filament winding-a well-known method of manufacturing composite motor case - is adopted to reduce structural weight. Netting and lamination theories are used to determine adequate winding thickness under required internal pressure. Dome shapes are designed considering feasible winding patterns and easiness of mandrel manufacturing. T-800 carbon fiber and Novolac type resin are selected for weight-reduction. The separate mandrels are disassembled and removed after filament winding. The manufacturing process of real payload kick motor is developed from the design experience of downscaled ones.
