A Data Placement Scheme for the Characteristics of Data Intensive Scientific Workflow Applications (데이터 집약 과학 워크플로우 응용의 특성을 고려한 데이터 배치 기법)

  • For data-intensive scientific workflow application experiments that leverage the cloud computing environment, large amounts of data can be distributed across multiple data centers in the cloud. The generated intermediate data can also be transmitted through access between different data centers. When the application is executed, the execution result is changed according to the location of the data since the intermediate data generated is used. However, existing data placement strategies do not consider the characteristics of scientific applications. In this paper, we define a data-intensive tasks and propose runtime data placement in that interval. Through the proposed data placement scheme, we analyze the scenarios considering the number of times in the data intensive tasks defined in this study and derive the results. In addition, performance was compared by analyzing runtime data placement times and runtime data placement overhead.

  • The semantic information provided through the semantic-based IoT system will produce new high value-added products that are completely different from what we have known and experienced. From this point of view, the key issue of current IoT technology and applications is the development of an intelligent IoT platform architecture. The proposed system collects the IoT data of the sensors from the cloud computer, converts them into RDF, and annotates them with semantics. The converted semantic data is shared and utilized through the ontology repository. We use KT's IoTMakers as a cloud computing environment, and the ontology repository uses Jena's Fuseki server to express SPARQL query results on the web using Daum Map API and Highcharts API. This gives people the opportunity to access the semantic IoT mash-up service easily and has various application possibilities.

  • This study examined ways to improve records management by using the new technology of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. To do this, we selected four technologies that have a huge impact on the production and management of records such as cloud, big data, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things. We tested these technologies and summarized their concepts, characteristics, and applications. The characteristics of the changed production records were analyzed by each technology. Because of new technology, the production of records has rapidly increased and the types of records have become diverse. With this, there is also a need for solutions to explain the quality of data and the context of production. To effectively introduce each technology into records management, a roadmap should be designed by classifying which technology should be applied immediately and which should be applied later depending on the maturity of the technology. To cope with changes in the characteristics of production records, a flexible data structure must be produced in a standardized format. Public authorities should also be able to procure Software as a Service (SaaS) products and use digital technology to improve the quality of public services.

A Malware Detection Method using Analysis of Malicious Script Patterns (악성 스크립트 패턴 분석을 통한 악성코드 탐지 기법)

  • Recently, with the development of the Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing technologies, security threats have increased as malicious codes infect IoT devices, and new malware spreads ransomware to cloud servers. In this study, we propose a threat-detection technique that checks obfuscated script patterns to compensate for the shortcomings of conventional signature-based and behavior-based detection methods. Proposed is a malicious code-detection technique that is based on malicious script-pattern analysis that can detect zero-day attacks while maintaining the existing detection rate by registering and checking derived distribution patterns after analyzing the types of malicious scripts distributed through websites. To verify the performance of the proposed technique, a prototype system was developed to collect a total of 390 malicious websites and experiment with 10 major malicious script-distribution patterns derived from analysis. The technique showed an average detection rate of about 86% of all items, while maintaining the existing detection speed based on the detection rule and also detecting zero-day attacks.

Data access control of KP-ABE scheme for secure communication in drone environment

  • Recently, as the amount of data collected by drones has rapidly increased, it is necessary to support cloud computing technology that can securely and efficiently store and process data. However, various security threats such as stealing, leaking, or tampering with data communicated by drones can occur due to attackers. Therefore, there is a need for security technology to provide secure communication of data collected from drones. Among various security technologies, the KP-ABE scheme, which is attribute-based encryption, is a security technology that satisfies two characteristics: data encryption and user access control. This paper researched the KP-ABE scheme and proposed a secure data access control scheme to the drone environment. This proposed scheme provides confidentiality and integrity of data communicated in a drone environment and secure access control and availability. In addition, it provides a fast ciphertext search and constant size ciphertext among the requirements to be provided in the KP-ABE scheme.

Identification of Microservices to Develop Cloud-Native Applications (클라우드네이티브 애플리케이션 구축을 위한 마이크로서비스 식별 방법)

  • Microservices are not only developed independently, but can also be run and deployed independently, ensuring more flexible scaling and efficient collaboration in a cloud computing environment. This impact has led to a surge in migrating to microservices-oriented application environments in recent years. In order to introduce microservices, the problem of identifying microservice units in a single application built with a single architecture must first be solved. In this paper, we propose an algorithm-based approach to identify microservices from legacy systems. A graph is generated using the meta-information of the legacy code, and a microservice candidate is extracted by applying a clustering algorithm. Modularization quality is evaluated using metrics for the extracted microservice candidates. In addition, in order to validate the proposed method, candidate services are derived using codes of open software that are widely used for benchmarking, and the level of modularity is evaluated using metrics. It can be identified as a smaller unit of microservice, and as a result, the module quality has improved.

Improving Efficiency of Encrypted Data Deduplication with SGX (SGX를 활용한 암호화된 데이터 중복제거의 효율성 개선)

  • With prosperous usage of cloud services to improve management efficiency due to the explosive increase in data volume, various cryptographic techniques are being applied in order to preserve data privacy. In spite of the vast computing resources of cloud systems, decrease in storage efficiency caused by redundancy of data outsourced from multiple users acts as a factor that significantly reduces service efficiency. Among several approaches on privacy-preserving data deduplication over encrypted data, in this paper, the research results for improving efficiency of encrypted data deduplication using trusted execution environment (TEE) published in the recent USENIX ATC are analysed in terms of security and efficiency of the participating entities. We present a way to improve the stability of a key-managing server by integrating it with individual clients, resulting in secure deduplication without independent key servers. The experimental results show that the communication efficiency of the proposed approach can be improved by about 30% with the effect of a distributed key server while providing robust security guarantees as the same level of the previous research.

  • 상수관망의 수질사고와 이상상황 발생시 대응을 위해서는 급수구역에 설치되어 있는 자동수질측정기, 정밀여과장치, 재염소주입설비, 자동드레인 등의 계측·제어설비들 간의 유기적인 정보공유를 통한 제어를 필요로 한다. 스마트 상수관망 운영플랫폼은 이러한 인프라 시설의 운영방안을 고려하여 분산되어 있는 계측데이터를 통합감시 및 제어하는 시스템으로 개발되었다. 상수관망 운영플랫폼은 능동형 분석 제어기술을 도입하여, 스마트 상수관망 인프라 설비를 최적제어할 수 있도록 구현하였다. 통합운영 플랫폼은 PostgreSQL, PostGIS, GeoServer, OpenLayers 등의 기술을 활용하여 개발하였다. 플랫폼은 계측감시, 시설관리, 운영제어 등의 기능으로 구성되며, 상수도 업무지원을 위한 관망해석 및 네트워크 분석 기능을 지원한다. 본 시스템은 스마트 상수도 구축사업을 통해 구축한 유량·수질모니터링 장비와 수질관리를 위해 도입된 재염소, 자동드레인 설비의 운영상태를 실시간 조회하는 모니터링 프로그램과, 관망해석 프로그램 그리고 대상설비의 최적제어를 위한 운영관리 프로그램으로 구성되어 있다. 모니터링 프로그램은 현장에서 측정되고 있는 유량, 수압, 수질, 펌프운전 등의 상태를 실시간으로 감시하고 클라우드 데이터베이스에 저장·관리하는 기능을 수행한다. 관망해석 프로그램은 EPA_Net모형과 연계되어 관망수리·수질해석을 수행하는 부분으로 재염소설비의 염소 추가주입이나 자동드레인을 통한 배제시 나타나게되는 관의 수리·수질변화를 클라우드 컴퓨팅 환경에서 분석하고 결과를 가시화 하는 기능을 갖고 있다. 운영관리 프로그램은 재염소 주입이 필요할 경우 주입량의 산정하는 부분과 관망 파손이나 수질사고 발생시 최적 단수예상지역을 도출하는 기능을 보유하고 있다. 향후 스마트 상수관망의 능동형 수질관리를 추진하는 지자체에 도입하여 인프라운영관리 기술 확보 및 수질관리 능력 개선과 실시간 감시 및 위기 대응능력 향상에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

A Study on the Current Status and Perception of Library Automation Systems for System Improvement (도서관자동화시스템 개선을 위한 현황 및 인식 연구)

  • This study aims to analyze the current status of library automation systems and explore future directions for improvement. The study was conducted by surveying librarians at institutions participating in the KESLI and KCUE consortia to investigate the current status and satisfaction with library automation systems, and the current status and awareness of open source-based library automation systems. The study found that most automation systems currently in use in libraries were developed through outsourcing in the 2000s or 2010s, and that more than 50% of respondents were satisfied with the overall library automation system. Overall satisfaction was found to be influenced by satisfaction with the functionality, customer support services and construction and operational management of the system. Most current library automation systems are not based on open source software or cloud services, but the intention to use them in the future is high, with more than 40% of respondents saying they would use them within three years. This study is expected to serve as an important foundation for building an open source-based library automation system in the future.

Generalized On-Device AI Framework for Semantic Segmentation (의미론적 분할을 위한 범용 온디바이스 AI 프레임워크)

  • Complex semantic segmentation tasks are primarily performed in server environments equipped with high-performance graphics hardware such as GPUs and TPUs. This cloud-based AI inference method operates by transmitting processed results to the client. However, this approach is dependent on network communication and raises concerns about privacy infringement during the process of transmitting user data to servers. Therefore, this paper proposes a Generalized On-Device Framework for Semantic Segmentation that can operate in mobile environments with high accessibility to people. This framework supports various semantic segmentation models and enables direct inference in mobile environments through model conversion and efficient memory management techniques. It is expected that this research approach will enable effective execution of semantic segmentation algorithms even in resource-constrained situations such as IoT devices, autonomous vehicles, and industrial robots, which are not cloud computing environments. This is expected to contribute to the advancement of real-time image processing, privacy protection, and network-independent AI application fields.
