Design and Implementation of Real Time Locating System for Efficient Vehicle Pooling in Port Terminal (항만 터미널 내 차량의 효율적 풀링을 위한 실시간 위치 측정 시스템 설계 및 구현)

  • In a port terminal, containers are stored and transshipped by yard tractors and crane vehicles. For operation efficiency of the terminal, location information of these vehicles is an essential factor. However, most of port terminals try to estimate location of these assets using indirect methods such as event tracking of shipping or unshipping containers. Because these kinds of events are rarely occurred, location of the event includes seriously locating error compared to a real location of vehicle. In this paper, we propose a real-time asset tracking system to obtain accurate and reliable location of terminal assets. The proposed system overcomes a location estimation error caused by container stacks which interrupt wireless communication. In order to mitigate uncertainty and increase accuracy of location estimation, we designed hardwares and multi-step locating system to resolve additional preblems. We implemented system components, and installed these at a port environment for evaluation. The result shows superiority of the system that the accuracy is approximately 5.87 meters (CEP).

  • High-Rise Building Construction Project which has high uncertainty and complexity, causes lots of problems under construction. In particular, the integration between design phase and construction phase highly affects a construction project in terms of cost and time. To possibly make the flexible response and preliminary verification against the construction planning problems in high rise building project, this paper proposes the Engineering-Construction Management System based on 4D CAD that put the time factor together with 3D CAD. The usefulness of this system has been verified through the actual project. It could helps the reducing trials and errors during construction phase by catching the factors on problems of project. Ultimately it will allow users to save project cost and duration by field application.

  • The container crane is one of the most important equipment in container terminal. If its working time in cycle could be reduced then container terminal efficiency and service level can be increased. So there are many efforts to reduce working time of container crane. It means how to design the controller with good performance which has small overshoot and swing motion of container crane. We, in this paper, present a state feedback controller not based on LQ theory but RCGA which means real-coded genetic algorithms. RCGA can search state feedback gains in given objective function. several cases of simulations are carried out in order to prove the control effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Design and Estimation of Cordless Transmitter & Receiver for Measurement of Crane Moving Range (크레인의 이동거리 측정을 위한 무선 송수신기 설계 및 평가)

  • In this paper, the measurement system of crane moving range is concerned with range recognition technology using phase and magnitude of radio wave. By the proposed technology, we design the radio transmitter and receiver and realize the measurement system, and save the data in disk that is earned from 900Mhz RF signal, middle frequency 450khz of analog signal. As a result of RF measurement, we got 9.3 dBm of RF output and 96 dBc@10khz of phase noise. Range information is earned the data through digital signal processing of IF signal. For the estimation of range measured, we analyze the difference between real range and measurement range, and also suggest the method to remove the measurement error using average processing and amplitude properties. A result is 0.12 and 0.00422 deviation in l0mn-30m and within 5m respectively, and then 2.4E-04 deviation in 4m by using compensation of level characteristics lately.

  • Visualization of construction process simulation and physical modeling were considered to overcome the limitations of current graphical simulation. The output of discrete-event simulation programs which are the most common mathematical statistical simulation tool for construction processes were analyzed for the visualization of earthmoving process that dealing with objects without fixed. Object-oriented models for equipment, material and work environments were devised to effectively visualize the numerical simulation results of the working time, the queuing time as well as the amount resources etc. The oscillation of the crane's cable and the lifted material that should be considered to rationally modeled and simulated by construction graphical simulation. The derived equation of motion was solved by numerical analysis procedure. Then obtained results was used for physical modeling.

A Piston Type Free-fall Corer(KORDI-FFC) (피스톤식 자유낙하 주상시료 채취기)

  • A new piston-type Free-fall corer (FFC) was developed for the sampling of core sediments in aquatic environments. The corer, named "KORDI-FFC", is the modified sampler of the existing FFX with an open barrel gravity corer. It was rested successfully on the muddy bottom in the Chinhae Bay and on the sandy bottom (Mz=3$\phi$) in nearshore areas around the Cheju Island. Several merits found in the unstrument are; $\circled1$ operation on a small vessel without winch and cable, $\circled2$ low cost of construction, $\circled3$ little disturbance of surface sediments during the sampling, $\circled4$ short round-trip time of sampling, and $\circled5$ simultaneous performance of other research works during the lowering of FFC.

  • This paper presents signal processing algorithms of a frequency-modulated continuous-wave(FMCW) radar altimeter and provides a practical assessment technique. The radar altimeter is initially operated in search mode, when the radar altimeter detects a valid altitude, search mode is switched to track mode and a altitude being tracked is displayed. The sweep bandwidth in each mode is a function of altitude to narrow the beat frequency bandwidth. In addition, transmit power and receiver gain in each mode are controlled to compensate for the dynamic range of wide altitude range. To assess more realistic operation, the radar altimeter was tested using the crane setup. The crane test demonstrated that signal processing algorithms described in this paper resulted in a reduced measurement error rate.

  • The wedge type rail clamp compresses with small clamping force at first, and with large clamping force when the wind speed increases because of the wedge working. At this time in order to display the wedge working, the rail clamp slips along a rail. If the supporter is not installed in the rail clamp when the wind speed increases more and more, the structure will occur overload which leads the structure to fracture. So the supporter has to be installed in the rail clamp. The proper position of this supporter is determined by the initial clamping force and the wege angle. Therefore in this study we adopted 5-kinds of wedge angle as the design parameters, and carried out the finite element analysis, in order to analyze the relationship between the initial clamping force and the proper position of supporter in the wedge type rail clamp.

  • This study analyzed the fluid state around a container crone according to a wind direction when a wind load was applied to a container crone. The container crane for this research is a model of a 50-ton class used broadly in the current ports. The dimension of an external fluid field set up diameter, 300m, height, 200m. This study considered the change of a wind velocity according to an altitude in a criterion of a wind velocity, 50m/s, applying a power series law. An incident angle applied to an interval of 30 degrees in $0^{\circ}{\sim}180^{\circ}$ and this study carried out a computation fluid dynamics using a CFX-10. In this study, we indicate the wind pressure according to the height and section figure of each member. In addition, we suggest the wind pressure accordint to a wind direction. And we will analyze the structure stability of a container crone from the fluid-ductile analysis in the next study.
