Development of a UAV-Based Urban Thermal Comfort Assessment Method (UAV 기반 도시 공간의 열 쾌적성 평가기법 개발)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a method for rapidly diagnosing urban thermal comfort using Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) based data. The research was conducted at Changwon National University's College of Engineering site and Yongji Park, both located in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do. Baseline data were collected using field measurements and UAVs. Specifically, the study calculated field measurement-based thermal comfort indices PET and UTCI, and used UAVs to create and analyze vegetation index (NDVI), sky view factor (SVF), and land surface temperature (LST) images. The results showed that UAV-predicted PET and UTCI had high correlations of 0.662 and 0.721, respectively, within a 1% significance level. The explanatory power of the prediction model was 43.8% for PET and 52.6% for UTCI, with RMSE values of 6.32℃ for PET and 3.16℃ for UTCI, indicating that UTCI is more suitable for UAV-based thermal comfort evaluation. The developed method offers significant time-saving advantages over traditional approaches and can be utilized for real-time urban thermal comfort assessment and mitigation planning

Structural Equation Model for Bus Service Evaluation (버스의 서비스평가 구조모형에 관한 연구)

  • 본 연구에서는 2개의 사례지구에 대한 설문조사를 통해 서비스평가 구조모형을 개발하였다. 모형의 가설로서 요인분석과 신뢰성 분석 등을 통해 구성된 '질적서비스에 대한 인식', '이동성에 대한 인식 '환승에 대한 인식', '경제성에 대한 인식'이란 인지서비스(Perceived service)를 나타내는 4개의 잠재변수는 '개인속성'과 '교통특성'이란 잠재변수의 영향을 받으며, 상호 구조적인 관계를 가지고 전반적인 만족도로 대표되는 '서비스평가'에 영향을 미친다고 가정한다. 모형추정결과, 기초적합지수(GFI)가 상인·월성 0.864, 지산·범물 0.807로 나타났고, 조정 적합지수 (AGFI)는 상인·월성 0.823. 지산·범물 0.759로 나타나 적합성은 대체로 양호하다고 할 수 있다. 또한 두 지역 모두에 있어서 잠재변수 간이나 잠재변수와 관측변수간의 인과계수의 유의성도 2, 3개의 인과계수를 제외하면 모두 5% 유의수준에서 유의한 것으로 나타나 전체적으로 모형이 타당하다고 판단된다. 상인·월성의 경우, 운전기사에 대한 인식치가 '서비스평가'에 미치는 영향력이 가장 크며, 요금수준과 더불어 직접적으로 '서비스평가'에 영향을 미치고 있다 기타 편리성, 쾌적성, 시설 및 운영성이 중요한 원인으로 작용하고 있다는 것을 시사하고 있다. 지산·범물의 경우, 쾌적성, 시설 및 운영성, 편리성이 '서비스평가'에 직접적으로 큰 영향력을 미치고 있다. 특히 이러한 '질적서비스에 대한 인식'은 버스의 현행 요금수준과 대기시간에, 그리고 유의성이 높다고 할 수 없지만 이용자의 연령과 버스이용빈도에 영향을 받고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

The Characteristics of Bioclimatic Types According to Annual Cumulative Temperature-Humidity Index in South Korea (남한의 연 누적 온습도 지수에 따른 생리기후유형의 특성)

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze thermal sensation which is measured by human physioclimatic reactions in South Korea. Relationships between Temperature-Humidity Index(THI) and human thermal sensation scale are derived from a questionnaire, which investigates degree of volunteer's thermal sensation with respect to each biometeorological condition. Analyses of these empirical relationships make it possible to calculate thermal sensational indices and to classify bioclimatic types for individual weather stations based on long-term(1971-2000) averages of monthly temperature and humidity data. A generalized annual physioclimatic maps for each Annual Cumulative Thermal Sensation Index for the 68 stations are constructed to show men tend to feel in various areas. The Monthly thermal sensations are affected by latitude, altitude, orographic effects and systems of airmasses. The Annual Cumulative Thermal sensations are increasing towards northern areas and inland, and that the major factors are largely derived from cold stress in winter. The Annual Physioclimatic Types are grouped 8 climatic types(M, ES, M-ES, M-S, W-ES, C-ES, C-M, C-M-ES) according to climatic stress. Results of this study can be applied for evaluation of thermal environment in our daily activities, and for searching relevant sports training-sites, climatherapy etc.

Comparison of Psychological and Physiological Differences of Human due to the EEG Type Scent (뇌파유형별 향기에 따른 인체의 심리적 및 생리적 차이 비교)

  • In this study, the three scents effects on subjects due to EEG type, and it researched to find optimal scent to increase their amenity and productivity. EEG and HRV were compared and analyzed in the environmental test room by classifying subjects into two type: A and B. The condition of the environmental test room was in temperature 31[$^{\circ}C$], relative humidity 50[RH%], air current speed 0.02[m/s] and illuminance 1000[lux] with setting up three different scents which are Rosemary, Jasmine and Hazelnut. The result of this study, at Jasmine scent for A and B type, relative ${\alpha}$ wave, SEF50, $\frac{SMR}{\theta}$ and SDNN were revitalized, and ${\alpha}$ wave asymmetry index, HRT, stress index and fatigue degree were decreased. It was found that favorite scent of A and B type is same as Jasmine scent, but A type was more sensitive than B type about scent. Therefore Jasmine scent is very effective to increase amenity, productivity and concentration, and to decrease stress and fatigue degree.

  • The purpose of this study is to show distribution pattern of comfortable Indoor-Temperature in South Korea based on 10-days normal data(June 3rd, July 2nd, August 1st). Comfortable Indoor-Temperature values and Heat flow equation values for the 68 stations are constructed to show how man tend to feel in various areas. In the early summer, comfortable Indoor-Temperature is very low in Taegwallong regions and the Southern interior regions due to the influence of the orographic effects or the altitude. In the hot summer, All regions except Taegwallong and Central interior regions have been the high value. These are largely derived from the low Clo-values due to the stable weather with the highest insolation, humidity and strong radiation heat by the North Pacific Anticyclone appears in Eastern Asia.

Feasibility of Alternative Physical Parameters by Subjective Evaluation for Urban Environmental Sounds (도시 환경음의 쾌적성 평가를 통한 새로운 지수 적용가능성 분석)

  • For the comfortable housing life, comfortable and pleasant urban environment should be created for the people living in house and in city. There are lots of environmental conditions in city affecting house and life. Also most of all the noise pollution have been become major factor that makes people's life uncomfortable. Recently soundscape researches have been performed to create comfortable urban environment and various studies on the evaluation of urban environmental sounds are now undergoing. This study aimed to analyse the subjective characteristics through the subjective evaluation to the sounds measured with physical parameters and eventually to find out alternative evaluation method for urban environmental sounds. Adjectives applied to previous studies were used for the subjective evaluation and sound sources recorded in specific places were presented with picture at the same time. As a result, new physical parameters such as Lmax, Unbiased Annoyance, G, N and EmT have a feasibility to evaluation of urban environment sounds in terms of acoustic comfort.

  • Humans have been searching for more comfortable places for centuries. The comfort concept which is related with vitality in Pungsu is closest to science. The comfort concept was introduced as being based upon measurable human physiological and psychological reactions. Two classification nomograms, the comfort index and the wind effect index were identified. The Pungsu concept can be applied in America, and one of them is North Cemetery located in the town of Hampton in northeastern Connecticut not far from Storrs campus, the University of Connecticut. The human reaction to comfort not only physiologically but also individually is various in various climate region. It is important to search for more comfortable places or to make up for less comfortable places with Pungsu as the adaptive strategy for the comfort.

  • The heavy thermal load to battle tanks can cause electronic components' malfunction and crew to be put out of action. The thermal load is generated from Internal heat sources such as electronic devices installed in the room as well as extremely hot weather. In this study, heat and flow analysis for the cabin room of a battle tank was performed to deal with this thermal problem. This study presented the validation of simulation results in comparison with those of test, the investigation of optimal flow design for effective cooling in cabin room and finally the evaluation of thermal comforts to crew.

A Study on the Multi-sensory Stimulation of Aroma and Color Temperature effects on Neuro-energy (아로마 및 색온도의 다감각자극이 뉴로에너지에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, EEG, HRV, and Vibra image were compared and analyzed in the environmental test room due to stimulation of aroma and color temperature. The condition of the environmental test room was in temperature $25[^{\circ}C]$, relative humidity 50[RH%], air current speed 0.02[m/s] and illuminance 1000[lux] with setting up different sensory stimulation condition which are before exposure, single-sensory stimulation of Jasmine scent, single-sensory stimulation of RED color lighting, and multi-sensory stimulation of Jasmine scent and RED color lighting. The result of this study, at multi-sensory stimulation of Jasmine scent and RED color lighting, relative $S{\alpha}$ wave, SEF50, $SMR/{\theta}$ and SDNN were revitalized, and both sides ${\alpha}$ wave asymmetry index, stress index, fatigue degree, and HRT were decreased. Also, Viba image of tension/anxiety and stress were declined. Therefore multi-sensory stimulation of Jasmine scent and RED color lighting effects to increase the Neuro-energy like amenity, productivity of work efficiency, and concentration.

Analysis of Ventilating Seat Comfort Temperature for Improving the Thermal Comfort inside Vehicles (자동차 실내 열쾌적성 개선을 위한 통풍시트의 쾌적온도 분석)

  • As the number of automobile registrations increases and luxury expectations grow, consumers are increasingly interested in indoor environment of vehicles. Therefore, manufacturers have an increasing interest in improving the indoor comfort as well as automobile performance. Research on indoor automobile comfort can help manufacturers increase driver satisfaction and reduce driver stress and discomfort, thereby reducing the risk of traffic accidents. Using electroencephalogram (EEG) measurements, we investigated the change in comfort and comfortable temperature according to the ventilating seat temperature change for both men and women. Results showed that the sensation of comfort was statistically significantly higher at 25℃ than at 28℃. Secondly, there was no statistically significant difference in temperature-based comfort feeling between male and female subjects. In the future, if the correlation between the driver's comfort feeling and the change in ventilating seat temperature is analyzed, it is possible to reduce traffic accidents caused by human error and reduce the electric energy consumption of the automobile.
