  • The purpose of the paper is to examine sidedness effects of comparative advertising and moderating roles of the emotions of customer and product type. To test the research hypotheses, this study conducted experimental designs. One hundred ninety-two undergraduate students were assigned to one of the four experimental groups. Comparative Advertising message type and product type were manipulated as between-subject factors. There was a surprising event situation(free gift event) when participants came to laboratory for experiment, which is for the emotion manipulation. If a participant in a positive emotion group, he or she gets a free gift. The data demonstrate that comparative message type have a significant effect on both attitude toward the advertising and acceptance intention. In addition, consumers' emotion and product type play a significant moderating role between the message types and the dependent variables. The results of this study contribute to the literature as a new attempt to examine the sidedness effect of the comparative advertising message. We suggested that message types and consumer's emotion is one of very important aspects for a comparative advertising and marketers should consider people's emotion when they release a comparative advertising, which can help when marketers make their strategy for a comparative advertising.

  • The collaboration that seeks to complement each other by judging and sharing the comparative advantages between companies is currently being actively progressed as a new and unusual collaboration that is not routine among not only the same industry but also different industries. This trend is increasing consumer interest based on enjoyment and fun. However, these collaborations cannot consistently lead to positive effects, and rather, if all companies collaborate, it could have an adverse effect. The current study explored the consumer's response to the attitude toward product and purchase intention of collaboration through consumption value and brand trust based on the consumer's understanding, assuming that the consumer's response cannot always be positive. As a result, brand trust played a mediating role in the intention to purchase and attitude toward product. This study examines the relationship between consumption value and collaboration products between brands, and from the perspective of a company, it can provide practical implications for establishing brand management and strategy through a unique collaboration strategy based on the understanding of consumers.

  • This study aims to analyze the effect of consumer characteristics such as consumer innovativeness on using popular social media in Korea. Social media usage is estimated by probit and multinomial probit model with user characteristics using Korea media panel data of 2019. According to the analysis, users with hedonoc innovativeness are likely to use social media, while users with cognitive innovativeness are not likely to use it. Regarding individual social media usage, functional innovativeness increases the probability of using Kakaostory, and hedonic innovativeness increases the likelihood of using Instagram. However, cognitive innovativeness decreases the probability of using Kakaosotry and Naver Band. This study gives insights into finding out specific social media for marketing certain products with innovativeness. In future research, it may be worthwhile to analyze under the assumption that a social media user is using several social media simultaneously.

The subscription economy is characterized by the fact that consumers can pay for and purchase products and services and use them limitedly for a limited time. Therefore, this study examined the effect of subjective perception of the time (duration) of consumers' subscription service use on subscription intention according to the time presentation method (duration/date) of subscription service use. In addition, the effect of differences in time presentation methods according to the type of subscription service (utility/hedonic) on subscription intention was examined. As a result of the study, the willingness to subscribe was higher when offering by date than when offering by date. In addition, for subscription services consumed for practical purposes, there was no difference in the effect on subscription intention according to the time presentation method. appeared to be Based on these results, the theoretical significance and practical implications of this study were presented.

  • The current study examines how product type and attitudes toward the webtoon - a digital comic that originated in Korea - affect consumer responses to webtoon product placement (PPL). Specifically, it examines the following responses: the perception of PPL intrusiveness, attitudes toward the PPL, attitudes toward the brand, word-of-mouth intention, and purchase intention. It further investigates how PPL type interacts with product type and attitudes toward the webtoon on consumer responses to the PPL. The findings from a 2 (product type: functional vs. hedonic) × 2 (attitudes toward the webtoon: negative vs. positive) × 2 (PPL type: creative placement vs. on-set placement) between-subject experimental study suggest the following: consumer responses to PPL in webtoon is more positive when the product is hedonic (vs. functional) and when attitudes toward the webtoon are positive (vs. negative). This study further suggests when subjects felt favorably toward the webtoon, the creative placement produced weaker perceptions of PPL intrusiveness and more favorable attitudes toward the PPL than the on-set placement. On the other hand, when subjects felt negatively toward the webtoon, the on-set placement evoked weaker perceptions of intrusiveness and more favorable attitudes toward the PPL than did the creative placement.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyse how consumption value affects the loyalty of green product through satisfaction and trust among elderly consumers. Data were collected from a cross-sectional survey of 314 older adults (age≥60) in the U. S., who bought and possessed a hybrid car, a representative green product. The statistical methodology is employed a structural equation model. The results demonstrated several important findings. First, perceived social value among elderly population had significant effects on green product satisfaction, while hedonic value did not. Second, both perceived functional value and environment friendly value had a significant positive effect on trust in green products. Third, satisfaction with green products also led to trust in green products. Finally, trust in green products showed their significant effects on loyalty in green product. These results provide practical implications to improve the trust and loyalty in green products among the elderly consumers. Furthermore, by deriving major components of consumption values in green products among the elderly, and analyzing the mechanism of satisfaction, trust, and loyalty, the study emphasizes relationship marketing in implementing "green" marketing strategies.

  • With the rapid development of mobile communication tools, customers are using SNS as a major information tool. SNS can provide information to a small number of customers as well as people around them, with information about a product or service that a small number of customers know through experience. With these characteristics, dessert cafes are being used as a major marketing tool for online websites and mobile phones using SNS. Therefore, in this study, theoretical considerations about e-WOM quality, perceived value, and visit intention were performed. The effect of e-WOM quality of dessert cafe on perceived value was analyzed and the effect of perceived value on visit intention was analyzed. Based on these results, I would like to suggest theoretical implications and practical implications for online marketing of dessert cafes. This study was conducted to survey the customers who have visited dessert cafe through oral communication within the last 6 months. The survey was conducted from September 4, 2018 to September 18, 2018, and was used for the analysis of 317 additional items. The research hypotheses between the e-WOM quality of the dessert cafe and the utilitarian value, hedonic value, and visiting intention were used the structural equation model(SEM). First, neutrality and interactivity have a significant effect on utilitarian value, but consensus and vividness have not significant effect. Second, It was found that the consensus, vividness, and neutrality had a significant effect on the hedonic value but interactivity was not found to have a significant effect. Third, hedonic value has a significant effect on visit intention, but utilitarian value has not significant effect. As a result, online e-WOM quality management is important.

  • Most of previous studies have proposed representative product categories which are likely to be sold on the on-line based only on the on-line benefits and risks. However, on-line shopping can be perceived another form of distribution channels from the perspectives of consumers. Therefore, in order to identify product categories which have a great potential to be sold on on-line stores, it is necessary to consider the perception and behavior at off-line shopping contexts as well as on on-line shopping circumstances. In this paper, we investigate the consumers' perception and behavior under both on-line and off-line shopping situations and classify them into several groups based on their perceptual and behavioral characteristics. Based on this classification, we empirically examine the product categories selling well on the on-line shopping. The empirical results show that there exist some patterns between distribution channels (on-line and off-line) and product categories. In addition, there are some differences among consumers regarding the perceptions and behaviors at on-line and off-line situations. Consumers who have high preference for on-line shopping tend to buy much wider product categories from on-line.
