Although an uncoated CFT column with a high axial-force ratio can be used to secure fire resistance for two hours or less in low-rise buildings, it does not satisfy the three-hour-long fire resistance required in high-rise buildings. Accordingly, so that the uncoated CFT column could be used for high-rise buildings, additional measures for the improvement of its fire resistance should be proposed. In this regard, the use of a Double CFT column as a measure for improving the fire resistance of the uncoated CFT column was proposed in this paper. A fire resistance test was conducted on an uncoated CFT column and a Double CFT column in real scale, under a load. Through such test, the effect of the Double CFT column on fire resistance was evaluated and then compared with that of a variant shape of the cross-section of a steel column.
This paper summarizes full-scale test results on CFT column-to- flat plate connections has gained wide acceptance subjected to gravity loading. CFT construction has gained wide acceptance in a relatively short time in domestic building construction practice due to its various structural and construction advantages. However, efficient details for CFT column to flat plate connections have not been proposed yet. Based on the strategies that maximize economical field construction, several connecting schemes were proposed and tested. Test results showed strength and connection stiffness exceeding those of R/C flat p late counterparts. A semi-analytical procedure is presented to model the behavior of CFT column-to-flat plate connections. The five parameters to model elastic to post-punching catenary action range are calibrated based on the limited test data of t to progressive collapse prevention design is also illustrated.
The purpose of this study is to develop composite structural system which is to have versatility in plan design and to improve economical efficieney, to maximise structural capacity than existing structural system. In this viewpoint, it was investigated to the properties of structural behaviors for i oint consisting of concrete filled steel square tube column and P.C reinforced concrete beam through a series of hysteretic behavior experiment. In the previous report, researched to the properties of joints with key parameters. such as Axial Force ratio and section types. From the based on previous results, this study investigated the properties of this joints with key parameters, such as strength of concrete, size of panel zone and Axial Force ratio. The obtained results are summarised as follows. (1) Investigating for the failure mode of the beam-to-column joint, the specimens of S,LL and LH series(except for L5H) presented flexural failure mode. (2) The initial stiffness of joint was increasd as the decrease of axial force ratio and increase of the concrete strength. (3) The rotation resisting capacity was effective as the increment of the concrete strength and decrement of the axial force ratio. (4) The emprical formula to predict the ultimate capacity of joint model to introduce decrease coefficient according to the axial force ratio to superimpose shearing strength of steel web(H section) and bending strength of reinforced concrete beam was expected.

A combination of CFT column and RC flat plate without formworks is very effectively rapid constructions. This paper verified the lateral resisting capacity of CFT column-RC flat plate exterior connection in comparison with general RC column-flat plate connection and detected moment capacity and ductility capacity of connection according to moment-displacement ratio. We made and tested specimens which have different variables respectively and as a result derive a following conclusion. In CFT-E2 specimen a critical section was extended and maximum moment increased 20% respectively in comparison to general RC column specimen. In BME and CFT-E1 specimens generally shear governed behaviors and CFT-E2 specimen complemented with seismic band, flexure behavior region of slab was extended and also ductility ratio and energy absorptance increased.
Prefabrication technologies are making bridge construction safer and less disruptive to the environment and traveling public, making bridge designs more constructible and, improving the quality and durability by shifting site work to a more controllable environment. Modular bridge substructures with concrete-filled steel tube (CFT) piers and composite pier caps were suggested to realize accelerated bridge construction. The precast segmental pier cap consists of a composite pier table and precast prestressed segments on the table. The pier table has embedded steel section to mitigate stress concentration at the connection by small tubes. Each bridge pier has four or six CFT columns which connect to the pier cap. Shear strength of the pier cap was obtained by extending vertical reinforcing bars from the table to the precast segment. Transverse prestressing was introduced to control tensile stresses by service loadings. Structural performance of the proposed modular system was evaluated by static tests. Design requirements of the composite pier cap were satisfied by continuous reinforcing bars and prestressing tendons. Standardized modular substructures can be effectively utilized for the fast replacement or construction of bridges.
This paper presented the results of cyclic loading tests of 7 full-scale beams to column subassemblages with improved connection detail i.e., fillets of the stiffening plates at the column corners and ends of the stiffener-to-beam flange weld. Major findings from the test results were: (1) Fillets reduced the stress concentrations that may cause early brittle fractures and considerably improved the cyclic performance compared to the detail without fillets. (2) As the width of the stiffening plate increased, the stiffness and peak strength increased and energy dissipation capacity decreased. (3) While all specimens failed by a fracture, they could develop a total rotation of 0.04 radian required for special moment resisting frames.

CFST columns are structurally superior because the concrete inside the steel tubes prevents local buckling at the tubes and the tubes confine the concrete. And, the thickness of steel tube in CFST column has been thinner with development of high-strengh steel. The thinner the steel tube of a square CFST column is, the more local buckling is likely to occur. For this reason, we developed welded built-up square steel tube with stiffeners which are placed at the center of the tube width acts as an anchor. In this study, we conduct experimental test for three specimens of the 4m long span welded built-up square CFT column with parameters of L/D and D/t. And, the test results were compared with the analysis results by M-${\phi}$-P Program.
It has been reported by the existing papers that the ultimate load capacity and energy absorption capacity of the CFST column are considerably higher than those resulting from a simple addition of the capacities of the concrete and the steel tube. It is normally believed that the confined effect for the infilled concrete due to the hoop tension of steel at the parameter of cross sections can remarkably improve the ductility and energy absorption capacities of the CFST columns. This paper provides the results of a study on the load-carrying capacities and energy absorption capacities of the CFST columns, a numerical analysis method, i. e. N-M interaction curves and Moment curvature relationships. The numerical approaches are verified by comparing with the existing test results and the circular and square steel tube sections are selected to clarify the amount of confinement effects to improve the ultimate deformable capacity(a ultimate strain value) of the infilled concrete. Then, an adequate value of the ultimate strain of the infilled concrete and an equation of the ultimate capacity of the CFST column are suggested.

Recently, it increases in use of CFT(Concrete filled steel tube, below CFT) because material and method are required to be diversification and High-Performance according to increase the super-high structure. But, CFT column lose bearing capacity under fire because steel tube is exposed to outside. As a result, structure is collapsed and then it cause much damage. In case of the Europe, Japan and America, they have studied the fire-resistance performance of CFT under fire for a long time. However, it would have hardly studied it in domestic because it is much difficulty about experiment machine and cost. So it is needed base on fire-resist performance of CFT under fire. Therefore, this study dynamic specificity of stub column which made tester of stub column based on facts of strength and mixing fiber evaluated used heating and load testing machine. As a result, it is willing to propose fundamental data for quick and accurate diagnosis of deteriorated concrete structure by fire damage with experiment according to the design high strength concrete.

This paper represents the behavior of CFT column to H-beam full-scale connection with external T-stiffener. 6 specimens whose T-stiffeners which are compounded of vertical element and horizontal element were made under the parameter of the strength ratio of each elements(vertical element and horizontal element in T-stiffener) to the beam full plastic moment. The analysis-parameters demonstrated in the base of the data that we get in experiment are strength stiffness, and plastic rotational capacity. All of specimen showed stable hysteretic behavior, and the horizontal element is more critical than vertical element in strength and stiffness. The mean beam plastic rotation of all specimen except the TS-2 specimen is 2.97% rad.
