Study on Variation of Depth Dose Curves by the Strong Magnetic Fields : Monte Carlo Calculation for 10 MV X-rays (강자기장에 의한 깊이선량율(PDD) 변화에 관한 연구 : 10 MV 광자선에 대한 몬테칼로 계산)

  • We examined the variation of percent depth dose (PDD) curves for 10 MV X-rays in the presence of magnetic fields. The EGS4 Monte Carlo code was applied and modified to take account of the effect of electron deflection under magnetic field was used. We defined and tested DI (dose improvement) and DR (dose reduction) to describe variation of PDD curves under various magnetic fields. For a magnetic field of 3 T applied at the depth region of 5-10 cm and field size of 10${\times}$10 $\textrm{cm}^2$, the DI is 1.56 (56% improvement) and DR is 0.68 (32% reduction). We explained the results from the Lorentz law and the concept of electron equilibrium. We suggested that the dose optimization in radiotherapy can be achieved from using the characteristics of dose distributions under magnetic fields.

Real-time Implementation of a Tone Sender/Receiver on a High Performance DSP (고성능 DSP를 이용한 톤 송수신기의 실시간 구현)

  • In this paper, we present real-time implementation of a R2MFC/DTMF (R2 Multi Frequency Combinations/Dual Tone Multiple Frequency) tone receiver/sender using a high performance DSP (Digital Signal Processor) and apply it to a carrier class VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) gateway system. The Receiver utilizes the Goertzel filter and the sender adopts the harmonic resonant filter. We describe, in detail, the techniques of multi-channel real-time implementation on a Texas Instruments TMS320C62x DSP such as effective PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) in/out by means of DMA (Direct Memory Access) and McBSP (Multi Channel Buffered Serial Port) and message communication via HPI (Host Port Interface), etc. From experimental results, we confirmed that the optimized code provided 780 channel capacity at 250㎒ C6202, and the our R2MFC/DTMF receiver/sender met ITU-T (International Telecommunication Union-Telecommunication) specifications.

A Study on TCP Performance Enhancements in Wireless Networks (무선망에서의 TCP 성능 향상 방안에 관한 연구)

  • The TCP protocol can provide some reliability using sliding window mechanism for data transmission, flow control, and congestion control. However, TCP has some limitations in that it has basically been designed solely for wired communication environments. If traditional TCP protocol is used also in wireless networks, the end-to-end data transmission performance degrades dramatically due to frequent packet losses caused by transmission errors and hand-offs. While there have been some research efforts on TCP enhancements considering the mobility of wireless communication devices, in this paper we propose a new method to improve the TCP performance by combining the Snoop and the Freeze-TCP methods. In the proposed scheme, the TCP end-to-end semantics is maintained and no changes of existing protocols in sending systems or in routers are required. It has the advantage of simple implementation because TCP code changes are limited to mobile devices for applying the Freeze-TCP and it requires only to add Snoop modules in base stations. Accordingly, the proposed scheme can operate well in the existing networks. Finally, in this study, we compared the performance of the proposed scheme with traditional TCP, other approaches through simulations using ns-2.

Implementation of Automation Program and Efficient Cable Drum Schedule using Dynamic Programming Algorithm (동적 계획 알고리즘을 이용한 효과적인 케이블 드럼 스케줄 및 자동화 프로그램 구현)

  • Cable drum schedule is the final step for the electrical equipment of the power plant, and is assigned cables to efficiently cable drum. In this paper, we have implemented an automated program which cables are scheduled in accordance with the capacity of the cable drum for each cable code. Proposed cable drum schedule was applied to the dynamic programming algorithm to effectively solve the optimization problem, and the implemented program is conducted so as to verify the proposed model. The experiment results show that implemented program eliminates the errors that can occur existing method, so we were able to reduce the design time of cable drum schedule. Cables for the electrical equipment of the power plant is designed to at least 2 million units or more. Thus the automation program to provide applies, it is considered that the design time of the cable drum schedule can be greatly reduced without serious error.

  • GPU computing is emerging in high performance application area since it can easily exploit massive parallelism in a way of cost-effective computing. The power method which finds the eigen vector of a given matrix is widely used in various applications such as PageRank for calculating importance of web pages. In this research we made the power method efficiently parallelized on GPU and also suggested how it can be improved to enhance its performance. The power method mainly consists of matrix-vector product and it can be easily parallelized. However, it should decide the convergence of the eigen vector and need scaling of the vector subsequently. Such operations incur several calls to GPU kernels and data movement between host and GPU memories. We improved the performance of the power method by means of reduced calls to GPU kernels, optimized thread allocation and enhanced decision operation for the convergence.

  • 본 연구는 가정용 가스 보일러의 배기가스 유동특성을 전산유체역학을 이용하여 정밀 분석하고 CO 검지 장치의 최적화 설계를 결정하는 것을 목적으로, CFD 상용코드 FLUENT 6.2를 이용하였다. 배기가스 포집위치에서 가스 유속의 균일성과 CO농도 검출기에서의 속도가 주요 성능 인자이며 포집기의 위치, 포집구멍의 크기 및 배기가스의 유량을 주요 변수로 선택하였다. 포집기의 위치는 배기부의 상부와 하부인 두가지의 경우이고 두 경우의 배관 높이 차이는 10 mm이다. 포집구멍의 직경 변화는 3 mm, 4 mm 및 5 mm인 세가지 경우이다. 마지막 변수인 배기가스의 유입속도는 20,000 kcal/hr용량의 k사 가스 보일러가 공기비 1.1일 경우에 정상 연소시 0.5 m/s임을 알았고 저부하와 고부하일 경우를 고려해서 0.3 m/s, 0.5 m/s 및 0.7 m/s의 세가지 경우를 변수로 결정하여 총 18가지 형태의 대상을 전산유체 역학을 통해서 분석하였다. 궁극적인 목표였던 배기가스의 균일성은 한가지 경우를 제외 하고는 만족할만한 결과를 얻었기 때문에 CO검지 장치가 위치할 곳에서의 속도 및 포집구멍의 크기가 CO농도 검출기 유속의 주요 인자라 할 수 있다. 결론적으로 포집구멍의 크기가 5 mm인 6가지 경우 중에서 두가지 경우는 검지장치의 유효속도를 초과하였고 포집구멍의 크기가 3 mm인 경우는 검지장치의 유입 속도가 상대적으로 작으므로 포집구멍의 크기는 4 mm가 적합한 것으로 판단하였다.

  • To provide high-quality services, national public institutions and companies have provided information and materials over the internet network. However, a risk of malware infection between transmission and reception of data leads to exposure to various security threats. For this reason, national institutions have proceeded with projects for network separation since 2008, and data linkage has been made using network connection storage through network separation technologies, along with physical network separation. However, the network connection storage has caused waste of resources and problems with data management due to the presence of the same data in internal network storage and external network storage. In this regard, this study proposes a method to connect internal and external network data using NAS storage as a way to overcome the limitations of physical network separation, and attempts to verify the priority of items for the optimization of network separation by means of AHP techniques.

  • Developing a network game that is serviced on the internet requires a lot of work, time and manpower. Therefore, it is important to design a game in such a way so that existing design codes could be used. The database for the multi-player network game is accessed from many clients. To manage the resource effectively, it is required to design the APIs to be minimized the database access and to be dealt with the related data efficiently. For this, it is needed to apply the object-oriented design for the related software modules. In the paper, we propose the design patterns of GoF to implement the APIs thatis needed to deal with the database resource. The database design through the analysis of some game's GUI has the advantage to create the optimized schema set more quickly, because it minimize the review step and the modification step of the database design generally. In addition, we apply to the design patterns of GoF for the APIs design of the server-side database. These reduce the times of the program call between the game server and the database server. These also make easily the maintenance for the already developed APIs, and it makes easily the addition of new APIs.

  • The minimal pairs mean the pairs that have same phonotactics except just one sound in the sequences cause different lexical items. This paper proposes the searching tool of minimal pairs for efficiency of phonological researches with minimal pairs. We suggest a guide to develop Korean minimal pair searching programs by comparing to other programs. Proposing tool has user-friendly interface, minimizing key inputs, for linguistics who are not fluent in computer programs. And it serves the function which classifies the words in dictionary for the detailed researches. And for efficiency, it increases speed of dictionary loading by separating syllables through Unicode analysis, and optimizes dictionary structure for searching efficiency. The searching algorithm gains in speed by hashing algorithm using syllable counts. In our tool, the speed is improved more than earlier version about 5 times at converting dictionary and about 3 times at searching.

  • A decision-theretic concept is introduced to investigate whether targets of interest in array sensor systems are present at some steering direction or not. The solutions to this problem are described as a set of discrete numbers 0 or 1 corresponding to the direction under consideration. This coded number representation is transplanted in the optimisation technique based on the Hopfield neural network, which may provide an easy understanding of determining the direction of arrival (DOA) of sources. Difficulties encountered in using the conventional state schemes of Hopfield neural network models are addressed and their related issues are raised. To deal with them, an idea that a neuron that decreases more energy difference for its state change of 0 to 1can have higher priority in the order of state transition than others is introduced. This does not only lead to an new state update scheme but also opens a different story in comparison to previous work. To cast the perspectives of the proposed approach and illustrate its effectiveness in source direction finding in array sensor system. simulation results and related discussions are presented in this paper.
