The geology of the Jeju island is characterized by the occurrence of thick voluminous basaltic lava flows and minor trachytic lavas. The land form can be divided topographically into the lava plateau, the shield-shaped Halla volcanic edifice and the parasitic cones whose number is more than 360, which is closely related to the cyclic volcanism of the island. Especially, the trachytic lavas seem to be the latest differentiation products of the cyclic activities and largely classified into two groups (Backlokdam group and Sanbangsan group) on the basis of the occurrence and the petrography. The paleomagnetism and the radiometric age on the two groups of trachyte suggest a lower and an upper time limits of the volcanic stratigraphy of the island. An average age of the trachyte of the Sanbangsan group is $0.733{\pm}0.056m.y.$, and is correlated to a horizon a little lower than the boundary (0.69m.y.) between the Brunches normal epoch and Matuyama reversed epoch. An average age of $0.025{\pm}0.008m.y.$ determined from the Backlokdam trachyte may be corrected to anyone horizon of the Laschamp, or the Lake Biwa, or the Lake Mono excursion. The two groups of trachytes are distributed with the latitude difference of 9'($0.15^{\circ}$), and with age difference of about 0.71 m.y. Assuming that the two trachyte groups were erupted from the same stationary hot spot, the lithosphere comprising the Jeju island is considered to have moved southward with a rate of about 2.3 cm/year.

Samples of porphyries, andesites, decites and sandstones were collected from 14 sites in order to study paleomagnetism and to determine K-Ar age in Guryongpo area. K-Ar age dating indicates that porphyries and volcanic rocks formed 41.7 and 22.7~19.4Ma, respectively. The mean direction of remanent magnetization for each site was generally well grouped after alternating field demagnetization. Both normal and reversed directions are present. The mean magnetic direction of the porphyries of Late Eocene and that of the volcanic rocks of Late Oligocene to Early Miocene have similar, easterly declinations. Overall magnetic direction is $Dm=43.8^{\circ}$, $Im=53.5^{\circ}$, ${\alpha}95=12.2^{\circ}$. the reliability of the observed paleomagnetic directions is ascertained by the presence of normal and reversed polarities. This is also conformed by the similarity of the declinations of the normal and reversed polarities. Observed easterly declinations in this area are attributed to local clockwise rotation of the land mass by approximately 40~50 degrees since early Miocene.
Ultra-wide-angle wireless endoscopes are demonstrated in this paper. The endoscope is composed of an ultra-wide-angle camera module and wireless transmission module. A lens unit with the ultra-wide FOV of 162 degrees is designed and manufactured. The lens, image sensor, and camera processor unit are packaged together in a $3{\times}3{\times}9-cm3$ case. The wireless transmission modules are implemented based on UWB- and WiFi-based platform, respectively. The UWB-based module can transmit HD video to a computer in resolution of $2048{\times}1536$ (QXGA) and the frame rate of 15 fps in MJPEG compression mode. The maximum data transfer rate reaches 41.2 Mbps. The FOV and the resolution of the endoscope is comparable to a medical-grade endoscope. The FOV and resolution is ~3X and 16X higher than that of a commercial high-performance WiFi endoscope, respectively. The WiFi-based module streams out video to a smart device with th maximum date transfer rate of 1.5 Mbps at the resolution of $640{\times}480$ (VGA) and the frame rate of 30 fps in MJPEG compression mode. The implemented components show the feasibility of cheap medical-grade wireless electronic endoscopes, which can be effectively used in u-healthcare, emergency treatment, home-healthcare, remote diagnosis, etc.

Distributed systems are collection of physically distributed computers linked by a network. General use of wired/wireless Internet enables users to make use of distributed service anytime and anywhere. The explosive growth of distributed services strongly requires functional verification of services as well as verification of non-functional elements such as service quality. In order to verify distributed services it is necessary to build a test environment for distributed systems. Because, however, distributed systems are composed of physically distributed nodes, efforts to construct a test environment are required more than those in a test environment for a monolithic system. In this paper we propose a test framework to verify functional and non-functional features of distributed systems. The suggested framework automatically generates test cases through the message sequence charts, and includes a test driver composed of the virtual nodes which can simulate the physically distributed nodes. The test result can be checked easily through the various graphs and the graphical user interface (GUI). The test framework can reduce testing efforts for a distributed system and can enhance the reliability of the system.
The aim of this study was to preserve the corticospinal tract during surgery and assess more accurately the motor performance in brain tumor patients around the motor cortex. TceMEP is not entirely reliable, even though there has been no change in waveforms due to a mixture of false positive and false negative signals. For a more detailed examination, DCS was employed to selectively stimulate the motor cortex. In both cases, the indications could find the region to which the cortex was responsible, and constantly check and examine the changes in amplitude, thereby preserving the motor pathway and performing surgery. On the other hand, patients who did not implement the DCS but did implement the TceMEP experienced a decrease in their postoperative motor performance. DCS is a very useful examination and it is a method that can reduce the post-surgery disorder that may occur in patients with the TceMEP in brain tumor surgery.
Renal failure syndrome in wild mammals is infrequently reported. Muskrat (Ondatra zibethicus) is a medium-sized rodent known to carry many diseases but rarely exhibiting renal failure. A six-month old female muskrat was submitted to our laboratory for pathological diagnosis, and necropsy revealed severe renal damage with sand-like lithiasis in the ureter, renal calculi, and hydronephrosis. All major organs, including the cerebrum, also showed systemic hemorrhage and calcification which may have been due to uremia induced by renal failure. Histopathologically, necrosis and microcalcification were detected in the renal cortex and the medulla, especially in the proximal convoluted tubules and collecting ducts of the kidney. Significant hyalinization of the glomeruli was also observed, and this suggested chronic nephritis. These findings would support mycotoxic effects, particularly on the kidney. Moreover, infiltration of neutrophils and mononuclear cells was observed in the lung and of plasma cells in the spleen. The definitive cause of the toxic effects in this case of muskrat renal failure could be attributed to contaminated food.
Purpose: Nurse educators can use film effectively to promote nursing students' motivation and indirect experiences. The purpose of this study was to develop a teaching-learning design using films based on Kolb's experiential learning model for understanding of child growth and development, and to evaluate students' satisfaction with cinenurducation according to learning type and content. Methods: Participants were seventy-four first year nursing students in the spring semester of 2013 at a private university located in Busan. In each class, participants watched film, participated in peer-to-group discussion and an educator's lecture, and wrote a composition based on Kolb's four learning stages. After class, participants filled out a questionnaire developed by the researchers. Results: Results showed a high satisfaction with cinenurducation regardless of learning type and content concerning child growth and development. Advantages of cinenurducation included it being "fun and interesting," "helpful to understand the characteristics of children," and "develop critical thinking through discussions." Disadvantages included "length of time needed," and "burdensome." Conclusion: Films are advantageous in that they provide indirect experience for nursing students. Selection of appropriate films and evaluation of learning goal achievements are important to maximize the effectiveness of cinenurducation.
Many studies on the electrochemical performance of Li secondary batteries have been obtained using coin-type cells due to the ease of assembly, low cost and ensuring reproducibility. The coin-type cell consists of a case, a gasket, a spacer disk, and a wave spring. These structural features require a greater amount of liquid electrolyte to assemble than other types of cells such as laminated cells and cylindrical cells. Nevertheless, little research has been conducted on the effect of excess liquid electrolytes on the electrochemical performances of Li secondary batteries. In this study, we investigate the effect of different amounts of electrolyte on the coin-type cells. The amount of electrolytes is adjusted to 30 and $100mg\;mAh^{-1}$. Cycle performances at room temperature ($25^{\circ}C$) and high temperature ($60^{\circ}C$) and high voltage are performed to investigate the electrochemical properties of the different amount of electrolytes. In the case of the unit cell including the electrolyte of $30mg\;mAh^{-1}$, the discharging capacity retention characteristic is excellent in comparison with the case of $100mg\;mAh^{-1}$ under the high temperature and high voltage condition. The former shows a larger increase in internal resistance than the latter, confirming that the amount of electrolyte significantly influences the discharge capacity retention characteristics of the battery.
In this study, the humidity control effect of a counter-flow ventilator was analyzed in a greenhouse with high relative humidity at night in the winter season. A case of the counter-flow ventilator was 0.96 × 0.65× 0.82(W × D × H, m) and there were heat transfer element and two fans for air supply and exhaust in the counter-flow ventilator. Two counter-flow ventilators were used in this study and the setting humidity of the ventilators was 80%. The temperature and relative humidity at night(18:00-8:00) in the greenhouse were measured. In a greenhouse without a counter-flow ventilator, the average temperature and humidity was 14.9℃, 82.8%, respectively. When the counter-flow ventilator was operated, the corresponding averages were 15.1℃, 79.9%. The independent sample t test of monthly temperature and relative humidity showed no difference in temperature, and a significant difference in relative humidity with 1% of the significance level. Therefore, using the counter-flow ventilator helps to control relative humidity in greenhouse and increase yield.. And further research considering the pros and cons of using the counter-flow ventilator is needed.

Flight compatibility certification is performed to substantiate the compatibility between ALQ-X ECM pod and KF-16D/RF-4C aircraft. A certification plan for the ALQ-X flight compatibility is established. Similarity analysis, mass/inertia analysis, structural analysis/test, and ground vibration test/flutter analysis are made to support the safety of MIL-HDBK-1763 Test 250 (Captive compatibility flight profile). Aircraft flew along flight envelope boundary with representative ALQ-X configurations. Handling qualities are evaluated by comparing flight characteristics of the aircraft with and without ALQ-X. Structural integrity and endurance is evaluated using measured flight test data. Results of these flight tests showed that ALQ-X is compatible with KF-16D/RF-4C without altering the flight envelope which has originally been certified for ALQ-88 and ALQ-119 ECM pods. ALQ-X certification program made following technical achievements: Type III certification for foreign designed fighter, flutter analysis program development using GVT results, and utilization of MIL-STD-1553B data bus in flight test.
