  • This paper proposes a decision support system to recognizing retinal diseases. This paper uses a smartphone platform and cloud computing as the base of the system. A microscopic lens is attached int' the smartphone camera to capture the user retinal image for recognizing the user's retinal condition. An application is assembled in computer and then installed in to the smartphone. The application role is to connect between the system in smartphone and system in cloud, the application will send the retinal image to the cloud system to be classified. The paper uses OCFE (optimized classifier based on feature elimination) algorithm as the classifier. The retinal image is trained using combination of two ophthalmology databases DIARETDB1 v2.1 and STARE. Therefore, this system average accuracy is 88%, while the average error rate is 12%.

  • Modern vehicles are evolving from manual to automatic driving. As the ratio of electrical equipment and software increases inside the vehicle, vehicles that support autonomous driving are becoming another open computer system that can communicate with the outside. The safety of the vehicle means the safety of both the passenger and the non-passenger. It is not clear whether the safety problem of ultimate autonomous vehicles can be solved by the current solution of computer systems related to fault tolerance and security. Autonomous vehicles should not be dangerous to people after they are released to the market, so it is necessary to proactively diagnose all the risks that can be predicted with current technology. This paper examines the current developments of autonomous vehicles and analyzes their dangers that threaten driving safety, as well as their countermeasures.

  • Solar lamp systems may not operate normally in the event of some system or controller failure due to internal or external factors, in which case secondary problems occur, which may cost the system recovery. Thus, when these errors occur, a technology is needed to recover to the state it was in before the failure occurred and to enable re-execution. This paper designs and implements a system that can recover the state of the system to the state prior to the time of the error by using the Watchdog Timer within the controller if a software error has occurred inside the system, and it also proposes a technology to reset and re-execution the system through a separate reset circuit in the event of hardware failure. The proposed system provides stable operation, maintenance cost reduction and reliability of the solar lamp system by enabling the system to operate semi-permanently without external support by utilizing the automatic recovery and automatic reset function for errors that occur in the operation of the solar lamp system. In addition, it can be applied to maintain the system's constancy by utilizing the self-operation, diagnosis and recovery functions required in various high reliability applications.

  • This paper describes automatic methods for detection of kidney and kidney tumor on abdominal CT scans. The abdominal CT images were digitalized using a film digitizer and a gray-level threshold method was used to segment the kidney. Based on texture analysis results, which were perform on sample images of kidney tumors, SEED region of kidney tumor was selected as result of homogeneity test. The average and standard deviation, which are representative statistical moments, were used to as an acceptance criteria for homogeneous test. Region growing method was used to segment the kidney tumor from the center pixel of selected SEED region using a gray-level value as an acceptance criteria for homogeneity test. These method were applied to 113 images of 9 cases, which were scanned by GE Hispeed Advantage CT scanner and digitalized by Lumisvs LS-40 film digitizer. The sensitivity was 85% and there was no false-positive results.

  • Many of learners in cyber universities have experienced the difficulties of learning and participation because they have never participated courses of cyber universities before. One of main reasons why they have experienced the difficulties was that they might have not received systematic guidances of university system as well as learning supports, depending on their readiness of e-learning. Otherwise, they may have lack of supports frequently and finally, fail to graduate. However, few studies were conducted to investigate the e-learning readiness of freshmen and enrollees in cyber universities. The purpose of the study was to analyze the e-learning readiness and learning activities of freshmen and enrollees of A cyber university and to support them more systematically and get them to succeed in studying. In the results, there were no differences between the freshmen and enrollees in basic competencies of cyber learning as well as interaction, task performance, and learning methods.

  • In this paper, we propose to develop a diagnosis tool for measuring digital competence for university student. To this end, 223 students participated for the survey research. Based on the survey by 6 domain and 40 questions, 6 factors and 18 questions for digital competence measurement were drawn throughout the factors analysis. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis showed the fact that 6 factors and 18 questions that satisfied the model-fit indexes statistically were finally confirmed. And the developed tool demonstrated good results in reliability and validity verification, which were suitable for measuring digital competence for university students. The developed measurement tool of digital competence for university students consisted of 6 sub-components such digital device operation, communication and collaboration, information searching, processing, and management, problem solving and learning, security, digital ethics. The digital competence measuring tool developed in this study is expected to be used to identify the current level of competences for university student, and to enhance their own digital competences through educational supports.

  • KTX control systems mutually control OBCS, ATC, MBU, TECA, MDT, ABU, HVAC, TRAE, PID and FDTR, KTX OBCS as master, and controls other sub-control devices as slave, using various serial lines. In order to analyze physical structure of various serial link lines and mutual data transmission structure, serial line analyzer is used in many ways. To use serial line analyzer, prior and professional technics about High Speed Train and experience of using device are necessary. In spite of difficult situation of space and environment where we work for maintenance of High Speed Train, in presenting basic structure about physical connection method aquired by sub-device serial line data collection and about communication data analysis, I hope that this research will be helpful for the person who work for similar area. Also, I hope that this research will help diagnostic work of High Speed Train, which is necessary for test run of independently developed High Speed Train.

  • It is very important to collect all production-related status values during the manufacturing process of semiconductor. The analysis results of the collected data can be used for the operation rate, fault diagnosis, process control and removal of predicted obstacles of equipments, eventually contributing to the improvement of production efficiency. For this propose. many IC makers have adopted EES(Equipment Engineering System). As the use of web has become a daily lift activity lately, it has been suggested to expand the scope of monitoring equipments using HTTP or SOAP protocols. To fulfill the web-based EES, EDA(Equipment Data Aquisition) should be facilitated first by integrating and standardizing various forms of messages generated from many different semiconductor equipments. In this paper, a method for integration between different types of information is suggested based on the analysis of various protocols used for the communication between semiconductor equipments. In addition, a software architecture to support the method is desisted.

  • It is necessary for an instructor to understand the student's team building behavior for an effective guidance of team activities. In this study, we developed an agent-based computational model for simulating the student's self-controlled behavior. We validated the model by comparing the actual behavior. Through the simulation, we found that the time to stabilization of team formation and the ratio of the students having no team are decreasing as the population of the student increases. However, we also found that over a certain amount of population, the time and the ratio do not show much progress in the difference. The simulation also shows that the more heterogeneity between the students the higher chance of delaying the team formation and increasing the ratio. We expect to use the model as a tool for guiding and supporting students' team activities.

  • In this paper, we propose a tool called ARCAV (Atomatic Recovery of CUDA Atomicity violation) to automatically repair atomicity violations in GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) program. ARCAV monitors information of every barrier and memory to make actual memory writes occur at the end of the barrier region or to make the program execute barrier region again. Existing methods do not repair atomicity violations but only detect the atomicity violations in GPU programs because GPU programs generally do not support lock and sleep instructions which are necessary for repairing the atomicity violations. Proposed ARCAV is designed for GPU execution model. ARCAV detects and repairs four patterns of atomicity violations which represent real-world cases. Moreover, ARCAV is independent of memory hierarchy and thread configuration. Our experiments show that the performance of ARCAV is stable regardless of the number of threads or blocks. The overhead of ARCAV is evaluated using four real-world kernels, and its slowdown is 2.1x, in average, of native execution time.
