A study on the practical use of CAI (컴퓨터 보조수업의 활용실태에 대한 분석)

  • This study is aimed at checking on the extent of practical use of CAI in mathematical classes in secondary schools, thus seeking a way of activating the practical use of CAI, with computer networks being widely used for education. This research was conducted among some 120 mathematics teachers and 350 students in middle and high schools in the City of Kunsan, with questionnaires designed to survey the extent and effectiveness of the use of CAI, the teachers and students' awareness of CAI. In consequence, this research shows the following: The use of CAI was of considerable help in conducting mathematics classes, along with CAI used in a more effective way, but education materials concerning CAI were poorly managed and not a few teachers was negative toward the use of CAI in mathematics classes. In short, the practical use of CAI was unsatisfactory, probably due to the lack of application ability on the part of teachers caused by the perfunctory teachers' training. In conclusion, the practical use of CAI in classes can be activated as follows: CAI apparatuses and other teaching aids should be systematically managed by experts; high-quality CAI programs need to be developed to help teachers conduct effective classes; teachers should be positively encouraged to make practical use of CAI through teachers' training and a plan of obligating teachers to use CAI for one or two fixed class hours in a week may be strongly recommended.

The Effect of Computer-Assisted Instruction Using Molecular-Level Animation in Middle School Science Class (중학교 과학수업에서 입자수준의 애니메이션을 이용한 컴퓨터 보조수업의 효과)

  • The effects of computer-assisted instruction (CAl) using molecular-level animation upon students' conceptions, attitudes toward science instruction, and learning motivation were investigated. Treatment and control groups (2 classes) were selected from a girls middle school in Seoul, and taught about the motion of molecule for 5 class hours. Before instruction, the short-version Group Assessment of Logical Thinking (GALT) and the Patterns of Adaptive Survey were administered, and the grade for the previous science course was obtained. The GALT score was used as a blocking variable, and the others as covariates. After the instructions, the researcher-made conceptions test, the test of attitudes toward science instruction, and the motivation questionnaire were administered. The perception questionnaire of CAl was also administered to the treatment group. Although more students in the CAl group had sound understanding about the motion of molecule, the scores of the conceptions test for the two groups were not significantly different at .05 level of significance. The students in the CAl group, however, were found to have more positive attitudes toward science instruction and learning motivation. In the perception questionnaire of CAl, most students in the treatment group exhibited positive attitudes toward the CAl. However, some students mentioned that they were disturbed by noisy environments, and that they could not understand some content presented. Educational implications are discussed.

  • 현재 학교에서 이루어지고 있는 수업의 문제점 중의 하나는 교수자가 학습자의 이해 및 요구사항을 정확히 파악하지 못한 채 일반적인 강의형식으로 수업이 진행된다는 것이다. 학습자들은 면대면에서 오는 두려움으로 인하여 적극적으로 수업에 참여하지 못하고 이로 인하여 교수자는 학습자들의 이해와 생각을 파악하지 못한 채 단순 지식전달 형태의 수업이 진행되며, 이로 인하여 학습자는 학습목표 달성에 어려움을 겪는 악순환이 발생되고 있는 것이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 단순하면서도 효과적으로 학생들의 수업참여를 유도할 수 있도록 하고 교수자가 학습자의 생각과 의견을 한눈에 파악할 수 있는 기능을 기본으로 하는 수업 보조도구를 설계 및 구현하였다. 양질의 솔루션을 제공하고 추후 확장성 및 시스템의 활성화를 고려하여.Net Framework2.0 기반으로 개발 하였다.

The effects of CAI adapting to the level of students' conceptual understanding in concept learning (개념 학습에서 학생들의 개념 이해 수준에 적응적인 CAI의 효과)

  • This study investigated the effects of computer-assisted instruction adapting to the level of students' conceptual understanding upon students' conceptual understanding, retention of conceptions, learning motivation, and perception about computer-assisted instruction in concept learning. 94 seventh grade students from a coed middle school in Seoul were randomly assigned to control, CAI, adaptive CAI groups, and were taught about 'motion of molecules' for 7 class periods. Two-way ANCOVA results revealed that the scores of a conception test and a learning motivation test for the adaptive CAI group were significantly higher than those for the control group. The scores of a retention test of conceptions for the adaptive CAI group were significantly higher than those for other two groups. There were no significant interactions between the instruction and the level of previous achievement in the scores of the conception test, the learning motivation test, and the retention test of conceptions. The perception about computer-assisted instruction for the students of the adaptive CAI group were more positive than those for the students of the CAI group.

The Effects of Situational Context Feedbacks in Chemistry Learning with Computer-Assisted Instruction (상황맥락적인 피드백을 활용한 CAI가 화학 학습에 미치는 효과)

  • This study investigated the effects of situational context feedback in CAI upon students' conceptual understanding, science learning motivation, and the perception of CAI. Seventh graders (N = 114) from a coed middle school in Incheon were assigned to the situational context feedback CAI (SCF-CAI), the feedback CAI (F-CAI) and the CAI groups, and were taught about ‘three states of matter' and ‘motion of molecules' for 8 class hours. Prior science achievement test score used as a blocking variable. Two-way ANCOVA results revealed that the conceptual understanding test scores of the SCF-CAI group were significantly higher than those of the other groups. For the higher achievers, the scores of the F-CAI group in science learning motivation test were significantly higher than those of the CAI group. However, there was no significant difference among the lower achievers of three groups. The higher achievers in the SCFCAI and the F-CAI groups perceived the CAI more positively than those of the CAI group. The lower achievers in the FCAI group perceived the CAI more negatively than those of the other groups. Educational implications are discussed.

  • 본 논문은 '컴퓨터를 이용한 교육방안의 홍수 속에서, 그 효과성은 어느 정도 인지되고 있는가?' '컴퓨터에 대한 일반적 기대치만큼이나 그 효율성은 신뢰도가 있는가?'라는 멀티미디어 교육자재들의 효과성에 대한 근본적인 의문점을 제기하고 학습자들이 쉽게 접할 수 있는 게임형 도형 맞추기를 수업에 접목함으로써 CAI의 효과성을 검증하였다. 실험 후 CAI로 수업을 실시한 집단에게 학습효과가 높고, 멀티미디어 CAI를 도입하여 진행된 수업은 학습자의 학습효과를 높여준다는 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 멀티미디어의 효과성검증은 컴퓨터가 기존의 학습방법을 완전히 배제하는 혁신적 기제임을 주장하지는 않는다. 컴퓨터의 교육적 활용은 전통학습방법을 보완하여 학습자의 능동적, 창의적 능력을 개발, 육성하고 변화의 흐름을 주도하는 바람직한 인간형 실현에 목표를 두고 있다. 급격한 정보 변혁의 시대에 학교교육의 효율성을 최대화하기 위한 다양한 컴퓨터 보조 수업물이 연구, 제작되고 있는 실정에서, 그 기제들의 효과성을 검증하는 것은 멀티미디어의 잠재적 가능성을 지속적으로 개발, 발전시키는데 우선적인 조건이라 할 수 있을 것이다.

A Study on the Effect of Cooperative Computer-Assisted Instruction by Previous Achievement Level (사전 성취 수준에 따른 협동적 컴퓨터 보조 수업의 효과)

  • In this study, the effect of cooperative computer-assisted instruction upon students' conceptual under-standing,application ability, and learning motivation were investigated by a previous achievement level. The treatment and the control groups (2 classes) were selected from a middle school in Seoul, and taught about the motion of molecule for 5 class periods. Prior to the instructions, a learning motivation test was administered and used as covariate. The scores of a previous achievement test were also used as covariate. The scores of the mid-term science examination were used as blocking variable. After the instructions, the conceptions test, the application test, and the learning motivation test were administered. Two-way ANCOVA results revealed that there were no significant differences in the scores of the con-ceptions test and the application test. However, the scores of the treatment group were found to be significantly higher than those of the control group in the learning motivation test.

  • 교육정보화 사업의 일환으로 각 교실마다 교단선진화 기기라 불리는 장비들이 널리 보급되었다. 그 중에서도 대형 프로젝션 TV의 도입과 초고속 통신망의 발달은 웹과 멀티미디어 시디롬 자료를 교실 안으로 불러들이는 데 큰 역할을 했으며 거의 모든 교과에서 활용되고 있다. 특히 컴퓨터 수업의 경우 일대일 개인지도가 불가능한 다인수 학급에서는 프로젝션 TV로 프리젠테이션하면서 수업을 진행하는 경우가 대부분이다. 그러나 이러한 경우에도 모든 학생들에게 프리젠테이션 화면이 잘 보이지는 않으며 말로만 설명하기에 부족한 부분도 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결할 수 있는 여러 가지 프로젠테이션 보조 프로그램들의 기능을 분석해보고 컴퓨터 수업을 진행하는 교사들이 효과적으로 프리젠테이션 할 수 있는 프로그램을 설계 개발하고자 한다.

Software Education Class Model using Generative AI - Focusing on ChatGPT (생성형 AI를 활용한 소프트웨어교육 수업모델 연구 - ChatGPT를 중심으로)

  • This study studied a teaching model for software education using generative AI. The purpose of the study is to use ChatGPT as an instructor's assistant in programming classes for non-major students by using ChatGPT in software education. In addition, we designed ChatGPT to enable individual learning for learners and provide immediate feedback when students need it. The research method was conducted using ChatGPT as an assistant for non-computer majors taking a liberal arts Python class. In addition, we confirmed whether ChatGPT has the potential as an assistant in programming education for non-major students. Students actively used ChatGPT for writing assignments, correcting errors, writing coding, and acquiring knowledge, and confirmed various advantages, such as being able to focus on understanding the program rather than spending a lot of time resolving errors. We were able to see the potential for ChatGPT to increase students' learning efficiency, and we were able to see that more research is needed on its use in education. In the future, research will be conducted on the development, supplementation, and evaluation methods of educational models using ChatGPT.

  • 지금까지 컴퓨터의 교육적 활용은 보조적인 교수자료나 학습도구로서 인식되어 왔지만 디지털교과서(Digital Textbook)의 출현으로 컴퓨터와 학교 교육과정 및 수업이 하나로 통합되면서 컴퓨터의 교육적 역할이 학습보조수단에서 교수.학습활동의 주된 교재로써의 역할로 바뀌게 되었다. 국내에서는 2007년 3월, 교육과학기술부(MEST)에서 본격적인 디지털교과서 개발과 보급을 위한 준비 단계의 계획으로 '디지털교과서 상용화(常用化) 방안'을 발표하였다. 이에 따라 교육 분야에서는 급변하는 국가 사회적 요구를 교과서에 신속히 반영하고 체계적인 교수 학습 국가 DB를 구축하기 위한 "디지털교과서 개발" 사업을 추진하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 디지털교과서 정의와 기능을 제시하며, 국내외의 디지털교과서 개발사례를 살펴본다. 또한 마지막으로 디지털교과서 개발전략 및 발전방향을 제안하였다.
