Recently, the component model based on the Exogenous Connector has been proposed in which controls are separated from computation by managing the beginning and result of method calls in the connector. Although it could be loosely coupled between components, it has a problem that is a potential preponderance of element objects of the system by increasing the number of connectors and connection levels. In this paper we propose the Tree Component Model with the Hybrid Message Passing that combines direct and indirect message passing. In our model, components are wrapped by interfaces and controls are separated from computation by only using their interface references. There is a unique feature that the composition structure of components becomes the tree always. As a result of demonstration and comparison, it is found that the Tree Component Model is applicable practically and decreases objects to mediate message passing and build the system.
Service-oriented computing systems have been issued by their properties of reducing software development time and effort by reusing functional service units. The reusability of services can effectively promote through loose coupling between services. But strong associations of object-oriented systems such as inheritance and aggregation create a rather tight coupling between objects. The component-based systems without inheritance and aggregation create a loose coupling between components. Thus components provide service realization at runtime using the functionality provided by their interfaces. Therefore legacy component-based systems need to have service-oriented computing concept in order to support functional service units efficiently. Also, conventional methods for service-oriented computing system have not suggested the clear classification of service layers, the clear service identification guideline introducing service layers and a service mapping method between serviceces of each layer. Therefore we suggest the service classification and the identification guideline of business view and implementation view introducing layers and propose a mapping between two views. That is, we research service layers, service identification, diversified service sizes and a service mapping method between services of each layer. This can be applied to legacy component-based system to extend to the service-oriented computing system.

As the degree of dependency and application of component increases, the need to strengthen security of component is also increased as well. The component gives an advantage to improve development productivity through its reusable software. Even with this advantage, vulnerability of component security limits its reuse. When the security level of a component is raised in order to improve this problem, the most problematic issue will be that it may extend its limitation on reusability. Therefore, a component model concerning its reusability and security at the same time should be supplied. We suggest a Separation of Concerns Security Model for Extension of Component Reuse which is integrated with a wrapper model and an aspect model and combined with a reuse model in order to extend its security and reusability by supplying information hiding and easy modification, and an appropriate application system to verify the model's compatibility is even constructed. This application model gives the extension of component function and easy modification through the separation of conceits, and it raise its security as doll as extends its reusability.

Component Based Development(CBD) Methodology is widely used in software development lifecycle to improve software quality. The Component Based Development(CBD) results to improve software reusability and reduce development term and cost. For this reason, lots of Enterprises are trying to make their processes to components. But, there has been few quality assurance or reusability testing action to those components. Most software component users can not know how their components are reusable and what extent their components satisfy to th eir quality requirements. For this reason, this paper suggests that software components can be measured their reusability by metrics proposed by this paper. We propose that in measuring software component reusability, there are direct metrics and indirect metrics. The results made by direct metrics are suggested to measure indirect metrics, so results to obtain reusability metrics.
Software product-lines is the software development paradigm to attain the rapid development of quality applications by customizing the reconfigurable components and composing them based on predefined software architectures. Recently various methodologies for the component-based product lines are proposed, but these don't provide the specific implementation techniques of the components in terms of variability resolution mechanism. In other hand, the several approaches to implement the component supporting the variabilities resolution are developed, but these don't define the systematic analysis and design method considering the variabilities from the initial phase. This paper proposes the integration of PLUS, the one of product line methodologies extending UML modeling, and component code generation technique in order to increase the efficiency of producing the specific product in the software product lines. In this paper, the component has the hierarchical architecture consisting of the implementation elements, and each implementation elements are implemented as XSLT scripts. The codes of the components are generated from the feature selection. Using the microwave oven product lines as case study, the development process for the reconfigurable components supporting the automatic variability resolution is described.
EJB(Enterprise JavaBeans) is the server-side component model and its purpose is to reduce the complexity of software development and to increase software reusability. Many concerns for development of EJB components have recently been raised. However, it is difficult to compose EJB components provided by third parties through the plug-and-play method. Therefore, the composition method by lego block styles is needed for EJB components. In this paper, we propose an approach to composition of EJB components using the C2 architectural style. In order to support EJB composition, we modified the general C2 architecture framework. We propose how to create EJB wrappers that can compose EJB components according to the C2 framework. Our approach also enables developers to create a new composite EJB that uses a C2 architecture which is composed of EJB components. To do this, we propose how to create a new composite EJB.

In modern distributed enterprise applications that have multilayered architecture, business entities are a kind of crosscutting concerns running through service components that implements business logic in each layer. When business entities are modified, service components related to them should also be modified so that they can deal with those business entities with new types, even though their functionality remains the same. Our previous paper proposed what we call the DTT (Data Type-Tolerant) component model to efficiently process the variability of business entities, which are data externalized from service components. While the DTT component model, by removing direct coupling between service components and business entities, exempts the need to rewrite service components when business entities are modified, it incurs the burden of implementing data type converters that mediate between them. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a method to use ontology as the metadata of both SCDTs (Self-Contained Data Types) in service components and business entities, and a method to generate data type converter code using the ontology. This ontology-based DTT component model greatly enhances the reusability of service components and the efficiency in processing data variability by allowing the computer to automatically generate data type converters without error.
