  • The movement of characters is one of the crucial elements to deliver their emotion flowing inside. Though it is the same movement, it may appear or be expressed differently according to the character's personality or emotion or the particular situation. The purpose of this study is to analyze not only the movement found superficially in an animation but also a character's internal emotion and attitude with Laban's movement analysis system, particularly effort, one of its analysis categories, and examine how effectively Laban's movement analysis often employed at the circles of dance can analyze movement in an animation. is about a monster that constantly makes efforts to realize its dream to be a scarer. Functional movement forms the most part, but expressive movement to show how a character thinks or feels also appears harmoniously. Characters' externally shown movement can express their internal emotion properly sometimes, but they also often move expressing their feelings in moderation. Therefore, this study analyzes the movement of characters found in the four scenes of with LMA's effort. According to the findings, at the scene where Michael enters the door leading to the human world following the scarer, the emotional state of Michael envious of the scarer is expressed with the Vision Drive giving the strong feel of dreaming. At the scene of the second game to choose the best scare team, it shows us the Spell Drive with its careful and light movement having clear intention to survive at the game. At the scene where there is a party held for the teams that have survived, it shows the Passion Drive of being eagerly expressing happy and delightful feelings without considering what is around. At the scene where Michael and Sullivan are pursued by people, the Action Drive was used to express movement that was heavy and strong and was getting faster gradually by focusing the feelings of the characters in haste into one place.

  • Background: Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) involves use of an initial priming volume which can cause side effects such as hemodilution, transfusion, inflammatory reaction and edema. Hence, there have been efforts made tore-duce the initial priming volume. We compared this traditional method to a CPB method that uses a minimized priming volume (MPV). Material and Method: For 97 patients who underwent congenital cardiac surgery between July 2007 to June 2008, we discussed each case and decided which method to use. We reviewed the medical records and cardiopulmonary bypass sheets of the patients. Result: We used a MPV method for 46 patients, and a traditional method for the other 51. There were no significant differences in preoperative and intraoperative characteristics between the two groups, such as body weight, age, cardiopulmonary bypass time, lowest body temperature, etc. However, the priming volume was much smaller in the MPV group than the traditional group (p<0.001). The volume of initially mixed packed RBC was also much smaller in the MPV group (p<0.001). There were no significant differences in postoperative mortality and neurologic complications. Conclusion: We could significantly reduce the initial priming volume and initially mixed pRBC volume with the revised CPB method. We suggest that this method be used more widely for congenital cardiac surgery.

  • Purpose : Percutaneous cannulation of the central vein in children and infants may be technically difficult and can cause serious complications. There are many techniques to improve the success rate and to decrease the complications in central vein cannulation. This study was undertaken to determine whether audible Doppler guidance can help operators improve the results of central vein cannultion in pediatric ICU. Methods : A total of 46 central vein cannulations were performed using audible Doppler guidance technique. Using an 8-MHz Doppler ultrasound device(Pocket-Dop II. iMex. USA), the artery and the vein were identified by their characteristic Doppler sounds. Results : There was a total of 46 patients with 20 boys and 26 girls, respectively. The mean age was $3years{\pm}45months$(range : 1-156 months). The number of infants was 18 and the mean age was $6.3{\pm}3.8$ months(range : 1-12 months). The most common site of central vein cannulation was the right internal jugular vein(63%). The cannulation was successful in 44 out of 46 procedures(96%). The success rate at the first attempt was 59% with 48% in the patients who had the history of previous cannulation and 70% in the patients who did not, respectively. The success rate in infants was 94%(17 out of 18). The average access time was $5.2{\pm}8.3$ minutes in children contrary to $7.5{\pm}10.3$ minutes in infants. There were no serious complications, but six patients had complications including four hematoma, one arterial puncture, and one pneumothorax. Conclusion : This central vein cannulation using Doppler guidance may improve the success rate of central vein cannulation and decrease the development of serious complications in infants and children.

  • Catheters were placed into the external jugular veins of immature female rats. On the following day (day 28 of age), the animals were injected subcutaneously with pregnant mare serm gonadotropin(PMSG): 4IU(control) or 20IU(superovulation). Each animal was sequentially bled at Ohr and 12hr and subsequently at 6hr intervals until sacrifice at 72hr after PMSG. The superovulatory dose of PMSG significantly(P<0.05) increased the ovulatory response by 4.0 fold above controls. On the other hand, superovulated oocytes displayed considerably different stages of meiotic maturation: prophase I (14.7%), anaphase I (36.2%), telophase I (10.3%), metaphase I/II (32.4%), while in control rats a majority of the oocytes examined(94.0%) consistently showed a metaphase II configuration. Serum luteinizing hormone(LH) levels were determined by RIA. Both groups exhibited a similar time relationship with two distinct peaks: an initial slight rise at 0-18hr and a second sharp rise at 54-60hr. However, there was a marked change in the magnitude of LH levels between the two groups. In superovulated animals, prior to the second peak, overall LH levels were significantly(P<0.001) higher than controls. In contrast, at the peak occurring at 60hr, LH concentrations were significantly(P<0.001) reduced by 54% below that of control. Additionally, a maximum increase of mean ${\Delta}LH$ between two peaks was much less in superovulated as compared to control rats. The initial prolonged elevation of serum LH before 54hr in superovulated rats was found to result from actual cross-reaction of the injected PMSG with LH antibody in the assay, while a precipitous second elevation between 54hr and 60hr resulted primarily from an endogenous LH surge. This study clearly defines time-course features of serum LH in PMSG-treated rats. The overall results indicate that, following superovulatory treatment with PMSG, the increased ovulatory response is primarily associated with PMSG-derived intrinsic gonadotropin, and that the recovery of immature or asynchronously mature oocytes at ovulation may reult from the circulatory alteration of LH activity characterized by an initial prolonged elevation of serum LH and its subsequent attenuation.

  • Category management has been implemented to enhance competitiveness in the food distribution industry since 2000 in Korea. This study helps to understand why suppliers achieve better or worse performance than competitors in a category. The major objective of this article is to explore which category tactics are effective to have influence on category performance when suppliers as a category captain implement category management with variety enhancer categories like shampoo, toothpaste, and detergent. The Nielsen data were analyzed using regression and Chow test. The empirical results that were varied upon the store type and market position found out which specific actions on product assortments, pricing, shelving, and product replenishment can increase category sales. Specifically, in the case of market leader in large supermarket, the significant indicators of category sales with respect to category tactics are the out-of-stock rate, the variance across brand shares, the forward inventory, and the days supply of a product. However, in the case of follower in large supermarket, the significant indicators of category sales are the variance across brand shares, the forward inventory, and the days supply of a product. On the other hand, in the case of small supermarket, the significant factors on category sales for both market leader and follower are the retail distribution rate, the variance across brand shares, the forward inventory, and the days supply of a product category. In sum, regardless of the store type and market position, dominant brands in a category, the forward inventory, and short days supply of a product improved performance in all categories. Critical difference is that the out-of-stock rate acted as a key ingredient for the market leader between large and small supermarket and the retail distribution rate for the follower between large and small supermarket. This article presents some theoretical and managerial implications of the empirical results and finalizes the paper by addressing limitations and future research directions.

  • The effect of hemorrhage on the electroencephalogram(EEG) was investigated in fifteen mixed-breed dogs anesthetized with ketamine, propofol and isoflurane. Animals were randomly allocated to three groups (n = 5) by anesthetic agents; group 1 (ketamine 5 mg/kg, IV), group 2 (propofol $156\;{\mu}g$/kg/min, IV) and group 3 (isoflurane 2.0% end-tidal concentration). Medetomidine ($40\;{\mu}g$/kg, IM) was used in all dogs as a preanesthetic agent. Recording electrode for EEG was positioned at CZ. EEG, heart rate, systolic/diastolic blood pressure, $pCO_2$, $pO_2$ and blood pH were measured before anesthesia, after anesthesia and after every bleedings. Three bleedings were accomplished by drawing blood through the femoral artery catheter at a rate of 7 ml/kg (10% of total blood volume) for 10 minutes. In the course of hemorrhage, a systolic/diastolic pressure continuously decreased in all groups. The $pCO_2$ values and heart rates were increased in all groups. The $pO_2$ values were most significantly increased in group 1 compared with those in other groups. The pH values were not significantly changed. On statistical analysis of EEG, there was no significant changes in group 1 and 3. But in group 2, band 3, 4 and 7 were significantly altered after 2nd and 3rd bleeding. Power alterations of band 3, 4 and 7 were thought to be related with hemorrhage over 20% of total blood volume in group 2. In conclusion, the regulation of infusion rate would be considered when a dog, anesthetized with propofol, bleed over 20% of total blood volume.

Total sugar contents in all persimmon leaves more higher than that of green tea leaves, and the highest free sugar contained in persimmon and green tea leaves was sucrose. Free sugars present in persimmon and green tea leaves were composed of sucrose, glucose, fructose, maltose and xylose. Sucrose and fructose took more than 70% of total sugar contents. 31∼32 kinds of amino acid were detected in persimmon leaves and 35 kinds in green tea leaves. And total amino acids contained in persimmon leaves were Dungsi, Gabjubaekmok, Weulhasi and Cheongdobansi, respectively 60.40 nmol/${\mu}$L, 53.21 nmol/${\mu}$L, 52.29 nmol/${\mu}$L and 47.58 nmol/${\mu}$L. Total amino acid contents in green tea leaves was the most abundant of all as 114.72 nmol/${\mu}$L. The contents of vitamin C in persimmon and green tea leaves were in the range of 0.015∼0.089% and 0.01%, respectively. Vitamin C was significant higher content in the persimmon leaves than in green tea leaves. Caffeine was not detected in all persimmon leaves, but the caffeine content of green tea leaves was 6.63 mg/l00 g. The content of catechin was showed in the orders of Cheongdobansi, Gabjubaekmok, Weulhasi, Dungsi and green tea leaves; 0.35%, 0.34%, 0.24%, 0.18% and 0.07%, respectively. The contents of gallic acid in Dungsi and Gabjubaekmok were 0.32% and 0.20%. That of green tea was 1.41%, it was the highest content in all samples. The content of calcium in Chengdobansi was most abundant in all samples as 3516.14 ppm, it was 4∼5 times as that of green tea leaves. Flavor component pattern among persimmon leaves was similar, but that of green tea leaves was different. The IC50(${\mu}$g) value of Dungsi, Weulhasi, Gabjubaekmok, Cheongdobansi and green tea were 64.5, 42.0, 47.0, 64.0 and 19.0 respectively.

  • Previous studies could not offer available guideline to decide size of balloon and grade of injury before induction of spinal cord injury (SCI) because grade of SCI was assessed after inserting a catheter and each experimental animal were different in body size and weight as well as in species. This study was performed to provide guideline for standardized SCI model. Eight healthy adult beagle dogs that had 8 mm of spinal canal height were assigned to four groups according to the diameter of balloon and compression time: 4 mm/3hrs, 4 mm/6hrs, 4 mm/12hrs and 6 mm/3hrs group. Radiography was performed to standardize between experimental animal and balloon before selecting balloon diameter to induce SCI. Behaviors outcomes, somatosensory evoked potentials (SEPs), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and histopathological examination were evaluated. Behaviors outcomes and SEPs were not available to assess grade of SCI and those only indicate SCI. The damaged area was revealed clear hyperintensity on STIR image and T2WI after induction of SCI. The hyperintense area on MRI was cranially and caudally expanded with increasing of the diameter of balloon or the compression time. Well corresponded to expanding of hyperintense area on MRI, the damaged region and the numbers of caspase-3 and PARP immunoreactive cells were increased on histopathological findings. Therefore, these results will be considered fundamental data to induce standardized SCI model in experimental animal that has various weight and size.

  • Background: Patients with centrally recurred bronchogenic carcinoma make a complaint of many symptoms like hemoptysis, cough & dyspnea. At these conditions, the goal of treatment is only to relieve their symptoms. High dose rate brachytherapy(HDR-BT) is the palliative treatment modality of centrally located endobronchial tumor regardless of previous external irradiation(XRT) on the same site in symptomatic patients. Methods: We studied the effects of HDR-BT in 26 patients with symptomatic recurrent lung cancer. Patients(male: 24, mean age: 54yrs)were treated with HDR-BT underwent bronchoscopic placement of $^{192}Ir$ HDR after loading unit(Gammamed$^{(T)}$, Germany) to deliver 500cGY intraluminal irradiation at a depth of 1cm every lwk on 3 occasions. Evaluation at base line and 4wks after HDR brachytherapy included chest X-ray, bronchscopy, symptoms (Standadized Scale for dyspnea, cough, hemoptysis), and Karnofsky performance scale. Results: Endobronchial obstruction was improved in 11/26 patients(37%). Atelectasis in chest X-ray was improved in 5/15 patients(33%). Hemoptysis, dyspnea & cough were improved in 5/10 patients (50%), 5/8 patients (62%) & 10/18 patients (56%) respectively. Karnofsky performance status was changed from 76.4 scores in pretreatment to 77.6 scores after treatment. During HDR-BT, massive hemoptysis (2 patients) and pneumothorax(1 patient) were occurred as complications. Conclusion: We concluded that HDR-BT gave additional benefits for the control of symptoms and general performance and endobronchial obstruction & atelectasis. And HDR-BT will be an additional treatment for the recurrent and endobronchial obstructive lung cancer.
