  • Over the past decade, there have been significant advancement in the field of electrospinning area. This study has focused on preparing yarn using polycarbonate (PC) nanofibers including modified multi-walled carbon nanotube (mMWNT) by solution electrospinning process using the mixture of solvents consisting of tretrahydronfuran (THF) and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF). In order to enhance the dispersion, MWNT was chemically modified. TEM analysis for the prepared PC/mMWNT nanofibers reveals that mMWNT was well-dispersed into the PC nanofiber matrix. Also with increasing contents of mMWNT, thermal stability of PC/mMWNT nanofibers was improved than that of PC nanofibers. Moreover when 3 to 5 wt% of mMWNT was added, the nanofibers showed good electrical properties expecting antistatic effect, ranging 109.1~109.5 ${\Omega}$. It was confirmed that the multi-filament fibers using PC/mMWNT had $60{\sim}100{\mu}m$ in diameter and 4~5 cm in length.

  • In this paper, we manufactured silsesquiaznae (SSQZ)-coated carbon nanotube (CNT) surface heating elements, which allowed stable heating at high temperatures. The prepared composite sheet was confirmed by FE-SEM that the SSQZ fully coated the surface of CNT sheet. Furthermore, it was also confirmed that the silicon carbonitride (SiCN) ceramic formed by heat treatment of 800℃ have no defects found and maintain intact structure. The CNT/SiCN composite sheet was able to achieve higher thermal stability than raw CNT sheets in both nitrogen and air atmosphere. Finally, the CNT/SiCN composite sheet was possible to heat up at a temperature of over 700℃ in the atmosphere, and the re-heating was successfully operated after cooling.

  • Effects of multiwall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) type and flow type (shear and elongational flow) on the electrical conductivity of polycarbonate (PC)/ MWCNT nanocomposites were investigated. Two different MWCNTs produced a huge difference in electrical conductivity in an injection molded PC/MWCNT nanocomposite. It was observed that MWCNTs having a higher aspect ratio provide much lower electrical conductivity in injection molded PC/MWCNT nanocomposites while the conductivities of compression molded samples from two different MWCNTs were the same. We found that this is due to a difference in the deformability of the two MWCNTs. As the aspect ratio of the MWCNT increases, the orientation of MWCNT by the external force becomes easier and the conductive path diminishes. Consequently the conductivity of the nanocomposites decreases. Nanocomposite samples prepared at a higher extensional rate and shear rate showed lower electrical conductivity. This is also attributed to the flow induced orientation and reduced conductive path of the MWCNTs. The experimental results were discussed in relation to variation in the tube-tube contact due to the change of the MWCNT orientation.

  • Recently, electronic devices with bendable electronic devices based on flexible substrates are being sold, and therefore, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the possibility of flexible substrates of conductive transparent tapes. As a transparent electrode, carbon nanotube (CNT) was formed by the coating method developed by the research team, and samples coated up to 5 times were fabricated. The surface resistance and transmittance of the substrate were measured, and both resistance and transmittance decreased as the number of CNT coatings increased. After the tape was detached from the glass, the surface resistance slightly increased in all samples, and the transmittance increased by about 10% in all measured wavelength ranges because the glass was removed. Next, the tape coated with CNT twice was used to a bending test 20,000 times under the condition of a radius of curvature of 2 mm. The electrical and optical properties before and after bending did not change, which means that there was no change in CNT properties due to bending.
