A Study on Predictive Modeling of Public Data: Survival of Fried Chicken Restaurants in Seoul (서울 치킨집 폐업 예측 모형 개발 연구)

  • It seems unrealistic to say that fried chicken, often known as the American soul food, has one of the biggest markets in South Korea. Yet, South Korea owns more numbers of fried chicken restaurants than those of McDonald's franchise globally[4]. Needless to say not all these fast-food commerce survive in such small country. In this study, we propose a predictive model that could potentially help one's decision whilst deciding to open a store. We've extracted all fried chicken restaurants registered at the Korean Ministry of the Interior and Safety, then collected a number of features that seem relevant to a store's closure. After comparing the results of different algorithms, we conclude that in order to best predict a store's survival is FDA(Flexible Discriminant Analysis). While Neural Network showed the highest prediction rate, FDA showed better balanced performance considering sensitivity and specificity.

  • 맛있는 닭고기 요리는 닭고기 요리집에만 있는 게 아니다. 많은 맛 집을 제치고 술집, 호프집에만 있는 닭고기 메뉴도 정말 많다. 시원한 맥주와 맛있는 닭고기는 정말 환성의 궁합이다. 스트레스를 많이 받은 어느 날 저녁, 회사 동료들과 함께 치킨을 먹기 위해 호프집을 찾았다.

  • 우리 양계농가들에게 뼈를 깎는 고통을 주면서 두 달 가까이 전국을 들썩이게 한 AI가 이제 완전히 사라졌다. 그나마 다행이라고 가슴을 쓸어내렸다. 정부에서는 시중에 유통되는 닭고기는 안전하며 끓여 먹기만 하면 아무 무제없고, 특히 우리나라에서는 지금까지 사람에게 전염된 사례가 전혀 없다는 것을 홍보해 닭고기 소비를 늘리는 방안을 찾아주기 바란다. 그리고 정부에서는 닭고기 수매량을 더 늘려주고, 도시의 치킨집, 삼계탕집, 닭볶음탕집 등 모든 음식점들이 닭을 더욱 많이 팔도록 독려 해주어야 할 것이다. 국민들이 안심하는 가운데 정부에서 닭고기를 적극 홍보한다면 그동안 판매되지 못했던 부진을 벗어나 우리나라의 닭고기 판매는 예전의 상태로 돌아갈 것을 확신한다.

  • 긴 한가위 연휴를 마치고 명절 내내 먹던 차례음식에 질려 이태원으로 발걸음을 뗀다. 집 근처이면서 가장 다양한 메뉴를 만날 수 있는 음식의 천구, 이태원, 골목골목 아주 고급스러운 레스토랑에서부터 길가 선술집, 포장마차까지 직접 들어가지 않더라도 그 앞의 메뉴판 구경만으로도 눈이 즐겁다. 그러던 중 길게 늘어선 줄이 신기하여 보니 케밥집이다. 세계적인 패스트푸드이자 건강식이 된 케밥. 닭고기와 야채를 빵에 싸 칠리소스를 뿌려먹는 터키의 전통음식으로 젊은층, 외국인들이 저녁식사를 대신하고자 주문하고 있었다. 이달의 닭고기 맛집으로 어떨까 하여 메뉴판을 확인하고 닭고기 케밥과 치킨 필라프를 주문하고 식당안으로 들어갔다.

Awareness and Use of Fast Food on Elementary School 4th, 5th and 6th Grade Students in Pyeongtaek City (평택시 초등학생의 패스트푸드에 대한 인식과 이용)

  • 최근 아동들 사이에서 칼로리가 높고 간단하게 먹을 수 있는 인스턴트식품이나 패스트푸드 등의 섭취가 증가하는 경향과 함께 비만 등 영양적인 문제점이 크게 부각되고 있다. 특히 아동기는 식습관 형성에 중요한 시기이므로 올바른 식품선택은 무엇보다 중요하다고 볼 수 있다. 본 연구는 초등학교 학생들의 올바른 식생활문화를 형성하기 위한 자료로 활용하고자 평택 초등학교 2개교의 4, 5, 6학년 300명을 대상으로 패스트푸드 섭취실태를 조사하였다. 평균연령은 11.7세, 키는 141.5cm, 몸무게는 36.7kg이였다. 아침 식습관태도 조사에서는 일주일에 5번 이상 아침식사를 한다(여학생 78.1%, 남학생 74.3%)는 답이 가장 많았다. 아침결식 이유는 밥맛이 없기 때문(여 58.2%, 남 54.4%)이 가장 높은 비율이었고, 편식은 여학생의 54.2%, 남학생의 48.9%가 하지 않는다고 하였으나, 편식하는 식품은 나물이나 샐러드 등의 채소류(여 51.1%, 남 61.4%)가 많았다. 간식섭취는 가끔 섭취한다는 답이 여학생 59.8%, 남학생 60.0%로 높은 비율을 나타냈다. 간식은 부모님이 사주신다(여 32.6%, 남 39.1%)고 하였으며, 여학생은 50.5%가 가족과 함께 먹고 남학생의 경우에는 44.8%가 혼자 먹는다는 결과를 보였다. 간식으로 과일섭취가 이루어지고 있는지 조사한 결과는 여학생의 33.0%가 2-3일에 2회 이상 섭취한다고 했지만, 남학생은 29.5%가 매일 먹는다고 답을 하여 과일섭취는 모두 딸이 하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 패스트푸드의 이용동기는 맛이 좋아서(남 60.8% 여 55.2%), 다음은 이용이 편리하기 때문이며(남 32.4% 여 40.6%), 주로 이용하는 곳은 분식 및 편의점이었다. 패스트푸드 이용횟수는 월1-2회(남 52.4%, 여 51.6%)가 가장 많았으며, 다음이 주1회 정도(남 21.9%, 여 32.0%) 이용한다고 하였다. 이용시간은 방과 후 저녁시간을 가장 많이 이용하며(남 47.6%, 여 50.5%), 남 녀 모두 사서 집에서 먹거나(남 44.7%, 여 41.2%), 배달시켜 집에서 먹는다(남 39.8%, 여 37.1%)고 하였다. 가장 좋아하는 패스트푸드는 라면 등의 분식으로 여학생의 40.2%, 남학생의 26.2%가 해당되었고, 그 다음 순서로 남학생은 피자(22.3%)와 치킨(22.3%) 및 햄버거(18.5%), 여학생은 치킨(25.8%)과 도너츠(12.4%)를 더 선호하였다. 패스트푸드 만족도를 3점 척도로 조사한 결과, 맛이 가장 높은 점수(2.42)였으며, 가격(1.98), 위생(1.92) 서비스(2.15)는 보통으로 평가했다. 본 연구 결과, 조사 대상자들의 패스트푸드 섭취는 가끔 먹는 간식과 같은 형태로 당장 우려할 정도는 아니지만, 선행연구에서 보고된 바와 같이 10대와 20대에 특히 섭취율이 증가함을 감안할 때, 중학생이 되기 전 단계에서 우리음식의 우수성과 패스트푸드 섭취지양에 대한 교육이 필요하다고 본다.

Extreme Job, How Will We Survive Since "Candlelight Protest"? -A Revival of Comic Mode and a Comedy Film in the Age of Self-Management (<극한직업>, '촛불혁명' 이후 어떻게 버티며 살아남을 것인가? -코믹 모드의 부활과 자기경영 시대의 코미디영화)

  • This paper finds a solution in the social context which cannot be explained thoroughly by well-timed release date, revival of comedy films, and the attraction of Lee Byeong-heon's comedy etc. while it throws question of how the film, Extreme Job captivated 16 million audience. The incredible hits of Extreme Job cannot be explained by analyzing the text alone. After this essay investigates a function and a role of comedy as a public sphere, it examines people's desires and wishes in the comedy and other genres since 2008 when the conservative government has seized power. Since 2008 a series of dark tone's action thriller, social problem film, and disaster film have emerged, these genres showed absence of public security, crisis of democracy and criticism against rulling class. On the other hand, hit comedy films have showed escapism such as weepie, nostalgia, and fantasy at the same time, generally. Although Veteran (2015) is not full-blown comedy, after this film's big success, "comic mode" has gradually revived. A light tone's films which are truer to genre rules has started representing the wishes of people toward social reforms and changes. Meanwhile, "Candlelight Protest" served as a momentum to recover the democracy which has been in crisis, but it could not lead changes in economic and daily lives. Exreme Job can be read as a question how we will survive since "Candlight Protest." The lives of detectives as self-employed workers who has taken over a fried chicken restaurant for going undercover are appearances of ordinary persons who must survive in the edless conpetition. Furthermore, this film shows a dream of a "great success myth" which becomes well-known as a famous restaurant and a self-management such as brand-naming and an exapansion of franchise business. We can read ganster's chicken franchises as a huge distribution industry which disturbs market system by delivering drugs secretly. While applauses that we give to the police having identities of self-employed workers which sweeps the ganster are giving support to oridinary neighborhood like us, they are also wishes of people who long for the restoration of publicness of police in the market which is becoming increasingly privatized today. A significance of this essay is to examine Extreme Job in terms of the geography of film genres and the revival of comic mode sicne 2008 at the macro level, and is to read the film in the perspective of the problems of economic and daily lives which has been still unsolved since "Candlelight Protest" at the micro level.

Night Eating Habits of Middle School Students in Gyeonggi (경기 일부지역 중학생의 야식 섭취실태)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the night eating habits of middle schoolers. A total of 705 middle school students residing in Gyeonggi were surveyed about their dietary habits related to night eating. Among the total subjects, 59.9% (n=422) had night eating more than once a week and were classified into a night eating group (NEG). The main reason for night eating was hunger (79.1% of NEG) and the highest proportion of night eating was related to food purchased by family (39.3% of NEG). Most of the NEG had night eating in their home with family members, and the time with highest frequency of night eating was between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m.. About 33% of the NEG went to bed within an hour after night eating and 69.2% of the NEG did not report any change after night eating. The most common factors considered when choosing a night eating menu, in order of frequency, were taste, hygiene, and amount. The favorite items on the night eating menu were frozen desserts, fresh fruits, chicken, fruit juice, Ramen, pizza, and Jajangmyeon. The most frequent menu choices were fresh fruits, frozen desserts, Ramen, chicken, yogurt, and fruit juice. The NEG had higher scores for picky eating (P<0.01), overeating (P<0.01), salty eating (P<0.01), and irregular meal times (P<0.001) compared to the non-NEG. Consequently, the NEG had more dietary problems than the non-NEG and their night eating behaviors were related to family habits. Night eating was mainly dominated by a diet of carbohydrates and fats, and the intake frequency and preference for foods with low nutritional value were high; thus, a practical and systematical nutrition education is required. Seasonal and comparative studies on night eating status according to various times and amounts of night eating are also required.

Analysis of Na and Cl Contents in Children’s Favorite Foods (어린이 선호 간식의 Na와 Cl 함량 분석)

  • The Na, component of salt, can increase the risk of high blood pressure and hypertension. Especially, children are exposed to an increased risk of high sodium intake, because they often consume Na-rich processed foods and commercially prepared foods in the street. However, the database for the sodium and chloride content for these children's favorite foods is insufficient. In this study, the Na and Cl contents in 89 children's favorite foods were analyzed by using Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis (INAA) method. The analyzed food items were presented after being classified into 33 kinds of food groups. The Na contents in 100 g children's favorite foods ranged from 0.3 mg to 35.1mg in fruits, 28.9mg to 82.5mg in milks, 127.2 mg to 602.2 mg in breads, cakes, sandwiches, and rice cakes, 2.5 mg to 1169.9 mg in candies, cookies and ice creams, 226.9 mg to 693.7 mg in commercially prepared street foods, and 103.4 mg to 875.8 mg in fast foods of westernized restaurant. Among children's favorite food groups, 100 g fried chicken, hotdog, burgers, and donuts contained an average Na of 536 mg, 553 mg, 794 mg, and 562.2 mg, respectively, so they are classified as 'high Na foods'. In contrast, 100 g fruits and dairy products contained Na an average 4.9 mg and 43.4 mg, respectively, being classified as 'low Na foods'. One serving of ramen, mandu noodle, and burger pizza can supply over 667mg Na, which is one third of the KDRI targeted intake. Likewise, the Cl contents in children's favorite foods were diverse according to food groups. The Cl contents in the analyzed foods differed from the 1.5 times of Na content, which is assumed in general. This study showed that the Na and Cl contents in children's favorite foods are very diverse. Conclusively, a strategy to reduce Na contents in the fast foods such as noodles and westernized restaurant foods is necessary for children health.
