The Three Theses in Yang-Ming Studies (양명심학의 3대 강령)

  • This essay is dealing with Yang-Ming Studies' fundamental ideas, which are the goal of learning, the cultivation theory, and the ultimate goal in Yang-Ming-Xin-Xue. The first, what is the goal of learning in Yang-Ming-Xin-Xue: It is generally accepted idea that the goal of learning in Yang-Ming-Xin-Xue is to be a sage. But there are different suggestions about the ideas above. The reason is like this: Zhu-Zi-Studies was eager to be a sage through its cultivation theory. Yang-Ming-Xin-Xue criticized the cultivation theory in Zhu-Zi-Studies. Therefore, some people don't agree with the idea that the goal of learning in Yang-Ming-Xin-Xue is to be a sage. In this essay, I try to demonstrate that the goal of learning in Yang-Ming-Xin-Xue is to be a sage. The second, What is the major cultivation theory in Yang-Ming-Xin-Xue: The core cultivation theory is the Zhi-Ling-Zhi(Fulfillment Innate Knowledge of Goodness). For this, there is no question, but it is difficult how to learn and practice Zhi-Ling-Zhi in the daily life. I try to explain the right meaning and practice over Zhi-Ling-Zhi. The third, what is the ultimate goal in Yang-Ming-Xin-Xue: It is general method in examine Yang-Ming-Xin-Xue that is comparing with Zhu-Zi-Studies. So there is a natural tendency focusing on the differences and similarity between Yang-Ming-Xin-Xue and Zhu-Zi-Studies. But If I say, what is the ultimate goal in Yang-Ming-Xin-Xue? That is the realization of Ren, Which is the harmony with all things in heaven and earth.

  • 왕양명 철학의 개념과 구조는 "대학"과 밀접한 관계를 맺고 있다. 왕양명은 "대학"에 대한 새로운 해석을 시도하여 마침내 주희의 "대학" 해석과는 다른 자신만의 학문 체계를 형성하기에 이른다. 이와 더불어 그는 "중용"에 대한 해석에 있어서도 희노애락 등 감정의 미발이발과 중화 등 "중용"의 개념 설명에서 주자와는 다른 견해를 제시하고 있다. 왕양명은 "대학"과 "중용"의 관계에 대해 "자사가 "대학" 전체의 뜻을 총괄하여 "중용"의 첫 번째 장을 지었다."고 평가할 만큼, 왕양명 사상에 있어 "대학"과 "중용"은 매우 긴밀한 관계를 맺고 있다 하겠다. "대학"과 "중용"은 공부 방법에 있어 같은 목적을 추구하고 있으니, "대학"은 성의 공부를 통하여 지선한 경지에 오르는 것을 추구하고 있으며, "중용"은 성신 공부를 통해 지성의 경지에 도달하는 것을 추구하고 있다. 이와 같이 "대학"과 "중용"은 성실하게 한다[성(誠)]는 하나의 공부를 통해 지극한 경지에 오르는 것을 공동의 목표로 삼고 있는 것이다. 이처럼 양명에게 있어 "대학"과 "중용"은 서로 분리하여 말할 수 있는 대상이 아니다. 양명의 "중용" 관련 언급 가운데 가장 많은 분량을 차지하고 있는 것은 "중용"1장에 관해서이다. "중용" 1장은 "대학"의 전체 의미를 포괄하고 있기 때문이다. "중용"에서는 성(誠)이라는 개념을 통해 본체와 공부를 설명하고 있다. 양명은 "중용" 1장을 풀이하면서 본체에 대한 깨달음보다는 수도 공부를 통해 본체를 파악하는 공부를 중시하는 입장을 취하고 있다. 그는 이러한 수도 공부로 '경계하여 삼가면 두려워한다'는 계신공구를 제시하고 있으니, 양명에게 있어 계신공구는 신독이고 치중화이며 치양지 공부에 다름아니다. 여기에서 양명은 "중용"의 공부 방법을 "대학"의 그것과 연관시키고 있음을 알 수 있다.

The same and diferent opinions about knowing and consciousness through Min-yisheng's idea in the latter period of korea (민이승(閔以升) 사상을 통해 본 조선후기 지(智)와 지각(知覺)의 동이논쟁(同異論爭))

  • This thesis is based on two points in Min-yisheng's idea: 1, knowing, consciousness, and differentiation of mind, according to which 2, Zheng-jidou's dividually observe to the same and different points of liangzhi and consciousness. Min-yisheng and the scholar on Yangming Theory named Zheng-jidou are arguing about the rights and wrongs of the Yangming Theory, the key concept of which is the same and different points of liangzhi and consciousness. At the extension of this argument, Min-yisheng also argues with Jin-chagnxie about the same and different points of knowing and consciousness. When argue with Zheng-jidou about Yangming Theory, Min-yisheng disproves the saying of "mind is principle" and "syncretism of consciousness and behavior" as well as defines liangzhi, which is the key concept of Yangming Theory, as a consciousness different from the natural principle. While disputing with Zheng-jidou about the relation between liangzhi and consciousness, Min-yisheng begins to pay attention to the relation between knowing and consciousness focused in the academy at that time. And as a result of that he also has a dispute with Jin-chagnxie about the same and different points of knowing and consciousness. The dispute between Min-yisheng and Jin-chagnxie is actually about how to look at the relation of knowing and consciousness, from the point of "non-mixed" or the point of "inseparable". Jin-chagnxie emphasizes on the un-mixed of knowing and consciousness while Min-yisheng, from the point of "inseparable", sees the consistency of the two. This thesis focuses on the argumentation of "the same and different points of liangzhi and consciousness" and "the same and different points of knowing and consciousness", the difference of the two positions and the historical meaning of this argument in ideologies.

Outlier Diagnostics and Resolution to determine Obesity Status in the Korean National Health Insurance Research Database (국민건강보험공단 자료에서 비만실태 파악을 위한 이상치 진단 및 해결)

  • This study was analyzed obesity status by divided into six classification based on the body mass index(BMI) established by World Health Organization-Western Pacific Regional Office(WHO-WPRO) through National Health Insurance Service(NHIS). In the middle of process, problems of outlier solved by presenting the median repeated interpolation. Unlike linear and Lagrange interpolation, median repeated interpolation may be useful in multiple outlier contained dataset. As a result, we found that extreme low and obesity weight gradually increased and the frequency of normal body weight gradually decreased. Especially, the increase of obesity in men and women of lower age group is increasing. Overall, this study suggests that national measures need to be taken before health problems arising from obesity can spread to other social problems.

On the Newly-Discovered Gasa-Style (새로 발굴한 가사체 <춘향전>에 대하여)

  • This paper seeks to provide an overview on the newly-discovered manuscript in gasa style. It is significant in that the entire in gasa style has not been seen before, although occasionally scripts incorporate sijo or gasa as inserted songs. The author of this manuscript is believed to be Bae Hyung (裵珩: ?-?), who lived in Daegachon, Yongdu-Myun, Sunchon-Gun in Jeonra-Namdo Province. It is estimated that the manuscript was written in April of King Gojong 37 years (year 1900). This , so-called the Yang Jee-Uk Collection Script, applies Samdan Pyunun Daewoo Method (三段片言對偶法), using Jongbae style (縱排法) to over 27 pagesof the book. The author seems to have collected the main scenes of and changed them into gasa style. It is also possible to postulate that the author might have simply divided the lines to make it resemble the existing gasa style, as the original was already in the form of lyrics. There are a few mistakes found in the manuscript. They seem to have been made while the author was recording the sung P'ansori, rather than while copying from a different manuscript.

A Study on the Changes of Taste Components in brisket and shank Gom-Kuk by Cooking Conditions (조리조건에 따른 양지머리와 사골곰국의 맛성분 변화에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes of taste components in the boiled beef brisket soup stock and shank soup stock by varying pretreatment, boiling temperature and time. Free amino acids and nucleotides color and sensory evaluation in each samples were analyzed. The results were obtained as follows : 1. The amount of free amino acids in the brisket soup stock pretreated by soaking and blanching showed a tendency to increase in proportion to boiling time. The amount of glutamic acid in the brisket soup stock was much in order of soaking > blanching > roasting pretreatment. While the amount of glutamic acid in the boiled soup stock samples pretreated by soaking and blanching was much more at low temperature than at high temperature, the glutamic acid contents in the boiled soup stock pretreated by roasting were large at high temperature. The amount of glutamic acid in pretreated by soaked soup stock showed the highest and recorded 8.73 mg% at 6 hour-low temperature-boiling. 2. The amount of free amino acids in the shank soup stock did not show any regular tendency and had few changes in quantity by the methods of pretreatment. Each amount of glutamic acid in the shank soup stock pretreated by soaking and blanching was the highest, when boiled for 3 hours at high temperature. The samples pretreated by roasting showed the highest record 2.49 mg%, when boiled for 6 hours at high temperature, but could not recognize any regular tendency in the case of boiling at low temperature. 3. The amount of nucleotides in the brisket soup stock generally showed increase in proportion to boiling time. The amount of 5'-IMP extracted from the brisket soup stock was much in order of blanching > soaking > roaking pretreatment, but few differences between blanching and soaking soup stock samples. The amount of 5'-IMP extracted from soup stock samples pretreated by soaking and blanching was high at low-boiling and by roasting at high-boiling. Each amount of 5'-IMP extracted from soup stocks pretreated by soaking(BSL) and blanching(BBL) was the highest at 6 hour-low-boiling(37.06 mg%), and 5 hours(38.37 mg%) respectively. The amount of 5'in the soup stock pretreated by roasting(BRH) showed the highest records at 6 hour-high-boiling(10.85 mg%). 4. The amount of 5'-IMP extracted from the shank soup stock preteated by soaking and blanching showed a tendency to decrease after 3 hours boiling irrelative of boiling temperature. The amount of 5'in the shank soup stock was much in order of soaking > blanching > roasting pretreatment and showed high at the boiling of high temperature. In the sample pretreated by roasting it showed the highst records when boiled for 6 hours at high temperature(1.55 mg%). 5. The L Value of the brisket soup stock pretreared by roasting at high temperature(BRH) was the lowest and the b value of it was the highest of all the brisket samples boiled for 6 hours. No differences were found in the Value of L, a, and b in shank soup stock by the methods of pretreatment and boiling temperature. 6. The sensory scores in color and flavor of the brisket soup stock showd that BRH was higher than the other samples, and the preference in taste and overall was the highest in BSH while it was the lowest in BRH. The preference in the all sensory characteristics of SSH was higher than any other shank soup stock, but did not show any significant difference statistically.

The Dialogue of Gi-Hak and Sim-Hak (기학(氣學)과 심학(心學)의 횡단적 소통구조에 관한 연구 - 장횡거(張橫渠)와 왕양명(王陽明)의 이론을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this paper is to explore how Zhang Zai(張載)''s Gi-Hak(氣學) and Wang Shou-Ren(王守仁)''s Sim-Hak(心學) are interrelated, which differs from prior positions viewing the two as separate, unrelated philosophies or ones standing in contrast to each other. By direct comparing the notions Tae-Heo(太虛) and Yang-Ji(良知), I tried to explain that ontological structures of Gi-Hak and Sim-Hak are interrelated ; and by comparing Dae-Sim(大心) and Chi-Yang-Ji(致良知), I made an argument that Gong-Bu-Ron(工夫論) of Gi-Hak and Sim-Hak corresponds to each other. Zhang Zai''s the doctrine of Tae-Heo can be seen as a respond to Jeok-Myeol-Ron(寂滅論) in Buddhism ; therefore, understanding Sim-Hak in terms of Gi-Hak, that is, interpreting the fundamental meaning of Yang-Ji as Tae-Heo, can free Yang-Myeong-Sim-Hak(陽明心學) from the unceasing criticism by Ju-Ja-Hak(朱子學) that it is a 'Buddhistic heresy'. This study could be highly significant in that it enables us to read the tradition of Zhang Zai not only from the viewpoint of u-Ja-Hak, but even from ang-Myeong-Sim-Hak tradition. I interpreted Yangming School of Mind as a developmental succession of Neo-Confucianism, and understood Zhang Zai''s Gi-Hak as a theoretical pioneer of Wang Shou-Ren''s Sim-Hak.

A study on the calculation model for emissivities of combustion gases (燃燒氣體의 放射率 計算模型에 관한 硏究)

  • The main mode of heat transfer of combustion gases at high temperature is thermal radiation of nonluminous gases, CO$_{2}$ and H$_{2}$O. Therefore the information of the emissivities of CO$_{2}$ and H$_{2}$O would be very important in the thermal performance analysis of furnace. In this study, an exponential model for the emissivities of CO$_{2}$ and H$_{2}$O was derived as function of P$_{g}$L and polynomial of reciprocal of temperature. Error analysis between the calculated values from present model and the valued of Hottel Chart was performed over temperature range of 1000-5000 R and a partial-pressure-length product range of 0.003 to 20 ft-atm. For CO$_{2}$ gray gas, the error percent between the calculated values and the values from Hottel Chart was distributed within 2.5% in case of using a polynomial in 1/T of degree 4. For H$_{2}$O gray gas, the model has an error range of 0 to 2.5% in case of using a polynomial in 1/T of degree 3.

A study on the perception and needs about dental infection control of the dental patients (치과내원환자의 치과감염관리에 대한 인식 및 요구도에 관한 연구)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to provide a satisfactory and reliable dental care service for the patients and to establish a plan to raise the perception about dental infection control. Methods: The perception of infection control in the dental clinic of the patients was examined who visited to dental clinics, over 20 years old and living in Seoul and Gyeonggi province since December 2016. The questionnaire was used as the survey tool, and 274 questions in the questionnaire were analyzed. Results: Results of examined factors affecting the perception of dental infection control in dental clinics show that the perception of infection control in dental clinics is affected by the degree of university graduates (p<0.05), full-time workers (p<0.01), housewives (p<0.001), and oral health concerns (p<0.05), the perception of infection control of dental medical personnel (p<0.001) in order. Conclusions: Dental medical personnels must thoroughly wash their hands, wear uniforms, wear personal protective equipment, and thoroughly clean and disinfect the interior of a dental clinic.
