Fire Simulation for Vent Flow and Temperature in Engine Room of Small Ship: Effects of Ceiling Duct Location and Side Vent Size (소형선박 기관실의 개구부 유동 및 온도에 대한 화재시뮬레이션: 천장 통풍통 위치 및 측면 개구부 크기 영향)

  • Fire simulations were performed using the Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) software to examine the vent flow and temperature in the engine room of a small ship. A diesel fire with a heat release rate of 10 kW was targeted, and the effects of the ceiling duct location, side vent existence and nonexistence, and side vent size were investigated. The existence or nonexistence of the side vent and its size considerably affected the smoke behavior, mass flow rate through the vent, and temperature. When the side vent was not installed or was small, the smoke layer reached the floor in the engine room. In addition, as the side vent size increased, the mass flow rate through the vent increased with decreasing temperature value. However, the effects of the ceiling duct location on the smoke behavior, mass flow rate through the vent, and temperature seemed to be relatively minor compared to those of the side vent size. Therefore, to improve the fire safety of the engine room in a small ship, the side vent size is considered to be a more important design factor than the ceiling duct location.

  • 본 논문에서는 전기적으로 소형인 공동의 내부에 급전 및 무급전 포스트를 개구면과 평행으로 배치하고 무급전 포스트에 접속시킨 외부 리액턴스를 이용하여 공동을 강제적으로 공진시킬 수 있으며, 또한 개구면과 대향하고 있는 공동벽을 제거함으로써 안테나의 열 특성이 양호할 뿐만 아니라 안테나의 무게도 줄일 수 있는 소형의 공동 안테나를 제안하고 있다. 본 안테나는 마이크로파 회로부를 공동에 접한 측면부분에 장착시킬 수 있는 구조적 특징을 가지고 있다. 이론해석의 곁과. 개구면의 폭이 좁을수록 공동의 깊이를 얕게 할 수 있으므로 공동의 제적을 줄일 수 있다는 것을 확인하고 있다.

An Experimental Evaluation on Flexural Performance of Light-Weight Void Composite Floor using GFRP (GFRP를 이용한 경량합성바닥의 휨성능에 대한 실험적 평가)

  • To obtain a lower story height with a long span and better fire resistance, a new composite floor system using GFRP (glass-fiber-reinforced plastics) was proposed. This floor system consists of asymmetric steel with a web opening, a hollow core ball, concrete, and GFRP. To evaluate the flexural performance of the new composite floor system, an experiment was conducted. The test parameters were the presence of GFRP, the void ratio in relation to the hollow core balls, and the web opening. The test results showed that the resistance and stiffness of the specimen with GFRP were 10% higher than those of the reference specimen, and that fully composite action was accomplished up to the yielding point. After the attainment of the yield strength, the ductility of the specimen was reduced due to the stress concentration around the web openings. The slip between the concrete and steel beam, however, was small. Thus, in the design of the proposed new floor systems, it is desirable that the calculated resistance be reduced by 15%, for safety.

  • Web openings of large beams provide space for wiring, piping, and duct work to provide for proper drainage, pipes and duct must be slightly sloped with the attendant result that all web openings can not be centered on the centroidal axes of the beams. Test specimens are made for opening-depth to beam-depth ratio of 0.5 and for eccentricities of the opening center line of 10% from middepth of the beam because of the proximity of the opening edge to the flange. In this paper, available test results and theories relating to the strength of composite beams having eccentric rectangular openings are surveyed and experiments were carried out to examine the structural behaviors. In all the tests in this paper good agreement is demonstrated with maximum loads measured in tests, and observed failure modes Furthermore, compared with analytical values and experimental values of interaction diagram between moment and shear capacity were safed as it is scattered with outer part of the analytical values.

  • A study on the vented gas explosion characteristics were carried out with the liquified petroleum gas(LPG) which is used in domestics and industries fuel. To evaluate a damage by gas explosion and to predict a explosion hazards, a series of experiment have been performed in the regular hexahedron vessel of 270${\iota}$. A side of the vessel was made to setting a polyester diaphragm which was ruptured by explosion to simulate an accidental explosion which ruptured the window by explosion. Experimental parameters were LPG concentration, ignition position, venting area, a strength of diaphragm which was ruptured and distances from venting, Experimental results showed that vented gas explosion pressure was more affected by the diaphragm strength than the gas concentration, and the vented gas explosion pressure and blast wave pressure was increased with decreasing the venting area and increasing the strength of diaphragm. In this research we can find that a damage by vented explosion at the outside can be larger than the inside by blast wave pressure near the venting.

  • The quality of service on urban roadways have been evaluated mainly based on such quantitative measures as travel speed and delay. However, in addition to the quantitative aspects, drivers traveling on urban roadways are subject to be influenced by qualitative measures such as aesthetic aspects of the roadway and other drivers' violation of traffic laws. Based on this notion, this study attempts to identify roadway service quality indices, considering both qualitative and quantitative aspects and evaluate the quality of service using the modified Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA), a technique often applied in the field of marketing. The modified IPA is proposed in this study as a way to evaluate the service quality, reflecting the relative performance between study areas and performance indices. A case study is implemented over the Gangnam and Gangbuk areas in Seoul, resulting in identifying the items needed to be improved for each study area.

  • This paper examines electromagnetic leakage path of small shield cans employed in mobile devices such as smart-phones by using numerical simulation and analyzes near-field coupling due to each of the leakage electric and magnetic fields by using IC-stripline method. From the results, it is confirmed that the leakage from the apertures or slots on the top of shield can is dominated by magnetic field, whereas the leakage from the seam on the side of shield can is mostly caused by electric field.

  • 광학시 비접촉 미소 변위 계측 장치의 응용예는 앞서 소개한 응용 외에도 여러 분야에서 많이 활용되고 있다. 즉, 주행 중인 차량 바퀴의 얼라이먼트(alignment) 계측에 이용되기도 하며, 파괴 역학 분야에서 크랙 개구단부(COD)의 변위량 측정에도 이용되며, 충격 역학 분야에서는 변위의 출력 응답 특성이 경시적으로 대단히 복잡하게 변하는 동적 파괴 현상의 원인 규명의 목적으 로도 많이 활용되고 있다. 더욱이 눈부신 발전을 거듭하고 있는 재료 요소 기술 및 센서 기술의 도움으로 앞으로는 이러한 비접촉식 미소 변위 측정 시스템이 보다 더욱 다양하게 사용되어질 것으로 기대되며, 또한 점차 성능 및 가격적 측면에서도 고성능의 계측 시스템을 손쉽게 큰 부 담이 없이 구입 가능할 수 있으리라 믿는다. 그러나 한편으로는 고정도의 물리량의 계측은 꼭 최신의 고가의 장비로만 되는 것이 아니라는 점과, 이러한 계측 시스템의 활용 시에는 기본 검출 원리 및 특성의 이해와 더불어 각 시험 경우에 따른 측정치에 대한 검증 작업을 게을리 하지 말아야 된다는 점도 아울러 당부하고자 한다.

  • Civil defense evacuation facilities currently installed in our country are necessary to survey the operating status. The purpose of this study is to survey on the current facility for civil defense evacuation facilities equipment, management, and problem analysis, research and to build a facility model of the standard formulation through the analysis on the actual condition of the civil defense evacuation facility. The conclusions of this study are as follows. First, the civil defense evacuation facilities are most in Seoul. Second, civil defense evacuation facilities proved to be checked periodically without a systematic management. Many facilities do not have communication facilities appear to be evacuated in an emergency situation is expected to have difficulty in contact with the outside world. Fourth, the old civil defense evacuation facilities are in the center of the metropolitan area.
