  • Patterns and changes of marriage have drawn much attention as they have been pointed out a key factor of low fertility. Nonetheless, systematic studies on marriage have been quite limited. This study, using recent nationwide survey on marriage and fertility, attempts to explain whether and how intention of marriage would differ between never married men and never married women. The logit regression analysis reveals that the likelihood of planning marriage between both sexes are still different even after controlling demographic characteristics, economic status, household and family background, and attitudes toward sex and premarital cohabitation. Furthermore, important factors affecting the likelihood of planning marriage turns out to be different between men and women. For instance, men with a job is more likely than men without a job to plan marriage. However, for women, the effect of having a job is not found. Such result, with other sex differential effects of living arrangement and attitudinal variable, suggests that the mechanism through which men and women transit from singlehood to marriage would differ. More attention on gender differential should be paid in developing conceptual arguments and conducting empirical analysis regarding marriage and its related topics.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop New-IT internship and to search for the way to reduce quality mismatch and unemployment ratio and to ultimately enhance its effectiveness of university-industry collaboration(UIC) in the field of information technology in Korea. To achieve the goal of this study, we tried to come up with more job creation than educational UIC. The survey(based on CIPP model) based on the reaction of companies and interns participating in IT internship program promoted by MKE(Ministry of Knowledge and Economy) shows that intern experience helped them to get jobs and longer intern period gave them to find job more easily. This program is designed to focus on intern matching between students' major and their intern jobs, and requires new employees' level of job quality. They(56%) preferred to hire local college students majoring in special technology area related to regional innovation industry cluster. It also found that intern companies(87%) wanted to participate in this program again and hired intern students(61%) as showing the possible connection of internship and employment. IT Internship program affected students(68.3%) good images about small and medium enterprises(SME) after finishing internship.

  • This study conducted a questionnaire survey with 362 students at department of radiology of college of public health located at G city, who had participated in mentoring program from Mar. 5 to Jun. 21, 2013. Out of 362 questionnaire copies, 315 copies were collected. The students' satisfaction with campus life was significantly affected by whether or not they joined a club, the number of participation into mentoring program per semester, reliability of mentors and mentoring functions. According to the study result, More specifically in terms of the mentoring functions(p<0.001), career development function(p=0.002) and tailored human-resource raising function(p<0.001) gave statistically significant effects on the satisfaction. It is considered that the study results will be used as a fundamental material to research mentoring for college and university students, and will be implemental in using and developing mentoring program as a direct way of preventing the student's dropout. Also it is expected that mentoring program helps college and university students in the transitional period to adulthood experience mentoring before they work at society, therefore playing a positive role for their successful work life as they get employed.

  • International marriage migrants from developing to developed countries are to seek a better economic condition. There are only a few empirical research on comparing and analyzing economic condition of marriage migrants before and after marriage. This study attempted to analyze the relationship between the cognition on the change of economic condition before and after marriage and the socio-economic characteristics of Vietnamese international marriage female migrants. About 80% of interviewees of this study were motivated to marry Korean men for economic reasons; however, their household economic level was relatively low. Reflecting the household economic level, about half the Vietnamese women considered that there was very little difference in the economic condition before and after marriage; while, the percent of women considering the current economic condition as getting better were more than 4 times of that of women considering as becoming worse. The cognition on the economic condition change before and after marriage was positively correlated with the level of education attainment of husbands and themselves, the Korean language ability, state of occupation in Korea, the level of husband's income, involvement of management of living expenses and length of residence in Korea. The occupation in Vietnam and the state of remittance were not significantly related to the cognition on the economic condition change before and after marriage. Vietnamese marriage female migrants were highly motivated to have a job out of home to improve the economic condition of their own family and natal family. Concreted alternative programs should be made to help those women to work out of home.

  • As increasing numbers of married women enter the labor force, scholars pay attentions to work-to-family and family-to-work spillover. So accumulating empirical research has been done to examine negative and positive spillover between two life areas. But existing research focuses only on this negative or positive spillover and do not combine these two interdependent aspects of spillover. But individuals experience the negative and positive spillover everyday. Therefore scholars point out the need of research to represent this reality of married men and women. Using data from a sample of 721 male and 359 female married workers, this study try to examine the 'global' measures of spillover between work and family. In particular, this study focuses on gender differences in this global measures and some potential factors influencing levels of global spillover. I find that while women and men do not differ in global work-to-family spillover, they do differ in global family-to-work spillover. It is found that four out of ten wives belong to 'high' in negative family-to-work spillover and 'low' in positive family-to-work spillover and only one out of ten wives belong to 'low' in negative family-to-work spillover and 'high' in positive family-to-work spillover. It is well documented that women do the bulk of family responsibilities such as housework and childrearing and consider home as their second workplace. The findings in this paper may represent unequal gender realities.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to examine selectivity and rasons for move of internal migrants in Korea. There have only been a few studies available on the issues of selectivity and reasons for move of internal migration in Korea, mainly due to the lack of appropriate data. The main source of data for this analysis come from the raw data set of the 1997 Special Migration Survey conducted by the National Statistical Office. Analysis of selectivity of those who moved across the provincial boundary revealed that females, young adults, singles in their marital status and more educated are more likely to move. Among various reasons for move, employment related reason is the most important for all migration streams. But with different migration streams, diverse patterns are emerged. For those who moved into the Capital Region, employment related reason is outstanding. But those who moved out from the Capital Region, moved for employment as well as family related reasons. For movement within the Capital Region, housing related reason is equally important together with employment and family reason. The analysis also found that among individual attributes, age and marital status affect most significantly to the reasons for move. Education level and housing ownership are also important for explaining for variations in reasons for move.

  • The dual security system that manages user's account information and uses NFC and OTP has been proposed. It also enhances the security of the user authentication phase by using the features that recognize within the range of less than 1m of NFC and the high security of NFC itself. During the graduation work design process which was carried out for one year and six months in a group of two in the electronics engineering major of the four-year undergraduate system was conducted. In the interim results, we participated in the conferences and thesis contest at the Institute of related to major for three times. Finally passed the examination process for three times judged by 6 professors in the major. The results were published in a graduation thesis together with other people who passed and composed in thesis form. Through the experience gained through these stages of design and production, it has gained the confidence to gain employment opportunities and actively pursue the growth stage, and presented a methodology to practice engineering education through employment.
