  • Solid rocket motor that includes AL powder in propellant gets slag during static firing test. Slag is piled up to weak area in motor case and causes dangerous phenomena like explosion of motor. In this paper, It is shown that boots gap liner casting process was developed and static firing test was performed with better results.

A Comparative Study between the Dielectric and Mechanical Characteristics due to Variation of Filler in Epoxy Resins (에폭시 수지의 충진제 변화에 따른 유전특성과 기계적 특성의 비교 연구)

  • In this study, after changing the curing condition of hardner(DDM) and filler($SiO_2$) contents dielectric and dynamic mechanical properties were studied according to the variation of temperature. As the result we obtained a correlative $\alpha$-peak at 125-150[$^{\circ}C$] from dielectric and mechanical properties. With increasing curing condition and filler contents both dielectric and internal friction loss were, decreased, peak temperature shifted to high temperature, but there was no variation on peak temperature with filler contents. As the above result we knew the correspondence between dielectric and mechanical characteristics.

  • This paper presents experimental results for durability performance of GFRP composite exposed to the $80^{\circ}C$ alkali solution. A total of 280 specimens for 4 types of additive and 7 cases of immersion time were prepared and tested. Additives used in this study were PVA, kaolin clay, and alumina powder. Specimens were immerged up to 30 days and tested for tensile strength for each immersion time. The results indicate that it is important to fill the inner space of GFRP composite densely to avoid the decrease of tensile strength. In this study, PVA additive showed better performance than other additives.

  • 고전압 전기기기의 열화는 여러 가지 요인에 의해 발생한다. 따라서 여러 환경 요인에 영향을 비교적 적게 맡는 절연재료 개발에 의한 절연성능 항상은 그동안 많은 연구자들의 관심의 대상이 되어왔다. 최근 고분자 수지 내에 나노 크기의 충진제를 혼합하여 절연성능 및 기계적, 열적 특성을 향상시키는 연구가 점차 활성화되고 있다. 그러나 나노 크기 입자의 활용은 분자단위 크기의 입자가 가지는 Van der Waals력의 문제로 인하여 전기기기의 절연재료로 활용하기에는 어려운 점이 나타나고 있다. 본 논문에서는 에폭시/$SiO_2$ 나노복합재료를 제조하여 분산시간에 따른 입자의 문산 상태를 살펴보았다.

The Effect of Glyceride Modified by Fatty Acid on Mechanical Properties of Silica filled Rubber Compounds (지방산으로 개질된 글리세라이드가 실리카 충진 배합고무의 가황과 기계적 물성에 미치는 영향)

  • To study the effects of structural difference and fatty acid chain length of glyceride, new dispersion agents having various glyceride structures such as mono-, di-, and tri-, were prepared using glycerol extracted from palm oil and fatty acid having various chain length ranges from 12 to 18. These dispersion agents were mixed with the rubber compounds and compared with conventional metal salt dispersion agents. Glyceride dispersion agent provided remarkable improvement in silica dispersion, compared to metal salt fatty acidic one, even though the viscosity of mixtures was relatively high due to low lubricating effect, and this was approved by mechanical properties, wear properties, and Payne effect. Also, the longer in chain length of fatty acid and the smaller in numbers of fatty acid, the dispersity of silica was improved.

  • In this study, the development of the room temperature curable silica-based coating compositions for anticorrosive and antifouling performance in marine environments was carried out. The marine (plant) structures with many exposed parts are operated in harsh marine environments such as strong ultraviolet rays, extreme temperature differences and salt water corrosion. Organic paints that are easily degraded under these environments and easily eroded by physical stimuli such as waves can not play a role properly. Dense ceramic coatings on marine structures provide careful protections even in saltwater environments due to their high hardness and rust resistance. Therefore, in the case of ceramic coatings, their use and application range in marine structures can be greatly improved due to their functional advantages. In the present study, silica-based coating compositions based on colloidal silica with silane coupling agents, curing salts, and ceramic fillers were developed, and their applications as protective coatings for corrosion protection and fouling prevention in seawater were also studied.

Water Absorption of Wood Flour-Polypropylene Composites: Effects of Wood Species, Filler Particle Size and Coupling Agent (목분-폴리프로필렌 복합재의 수분흡수율 : 목재수종, 충진제 입자크기 및 상용화제의 영향)

  • The effects of wood species, chemical components, filler loading level, filler particle size, and coupling agent on the water absorption property of the wood flour filled polypropylene (PP) composites were investigated in this study. After 500, 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, 2,500 and 3,000 hr water immersion, Quercus (Quercus accutisima Carr.) and Maackia (Maackia amuresis Rupr. et Maxim) showed significantly lower water absorption properties compared to Larix (Larix kaempferi Lamb.). As wood flour loading increases from 10 to 50 wt%, most wood species showed increased water absorption after a given immersion period. Particle size of wood flour proved to have very significant effects on water absorption of the composites. The effect of coupling agent was positive in terms of lowering water absorption of the composites. As the treatment level of coupling agent increases, the water absorption of the composites decreases. The lowest water absorption was obtained at the lower wood flour loading (Maackia), smaller particle size and by the addition of coupling agent. Thickness swelling of the composites shows close dependency on water absorption.

Recycle of Unburned Carbon and Microceramics as Alternatives to Rubber Weight-Adding Materials and Polypropylene Filling Agents (고무증량재 및 플라스틱 충진재의 대체재로 UC와 CM의 재활용)

  • Unburned carbon (UC) was successfully separated from fly ash by up to 85.8% in weight via froth flotation using soybean oil as a collector. An 18 wt% yield of microceramics (CM) could be achieved by employing a hydro cyclone separator located immediately after the flotation equipment. UC and CM were tested as alternatives to weight-adding material and polymer (especially polypropylene in this study) filler, respectively. Large particles of UC were broken down into smaller ones via ball milling to have an average particle diameter of 10.2 ㎛. When crushed UC was used as an alternative to clay as a rubber weight-adding material, a somewhat lower tensile strength and elongation rate than the allowed values were unfortunately obtained. In order to satisfy the standard limits, further treatment of UC is required to enhance surface energy for more intimate bonding with rubber. CM was observed in spherical forms with an average diameter of 5 ㎛. The surface of the CM particles was modified with phenol, polyol, stearic acid, and oleic acid so that the surface modified CM could be used as a polypropylene-filling agent. The flowability was good, but due to the lack of coupling forces with polypropylene, successful impact strength and flexural strength could not be obtained. However, when mixing the surface-modified CM with 1% silane by weight, a drastic increase in both the impact strength and flexural strength were obtained.

The Effect of Nitrogen Supply on Tomato Plants by NH4-Beaker-Deposits (토마토에 대한 NH4-Beaker Deposit 비료의 질소공급 효과)

  • Long term cultivation crops like tomato, capsicum, melon etc. demand much amount of continuous supplying of nutrition during the whole growing periods. It is not easy to cover satisfactorily the nutritional demands for them by splitted top dressings, slow release fertilizer applications and fertigation systems. To overcome these problems, the "CULTAN" (Controlled Uptake Long Term Ammonium Nutrition) Beaker Deposit techniques have been developed and it was put into PVC beaker with the combined nitrogen fertilizer type mixed with the ratio of one-third of ammonium sulfate-N and two-thirds of urea-N, in which nitrogen was loaded on the demanding amount of a tomato plant during the growing period. Gypsum was mixed as a binder, and loamy soil and compost were used as a diffusion regulator. It was placed upside down into root zone of tomato at the transplanting. Tomato roots were spreaded into the Deposit beaker by ammonium ions which attract root growth. The tomato fruit yield and nitrogen uptake by plant were increased by application of $NH_4$-Beaker deposit fertilizer rather than those of common fertilizer treatment. In conclusion, it was able to improve economic and ecological benefits through CULTAN system compared with common fertilization systems. CULTAN system was estimated as a prospective alternative to enhance productivity and minimize nutrient lose. In addition, it shows further developing possibility of CULTAN system by the supplement of micro-nutrients and pesticides in the macro-nutrient beaker deposits.

  • 층상실리케이트 나노입자가 충진된 에폭시수지를 분산정도 향상을 위해 즉, 층상실리케이트 층간간경의 삽입과 박를 향상시키기 위해 분산제를 첨가하였고, 초음파 적용으로 분산시켰다. 그 결과 분산제 종류에따라 분산정도인 X-RD 특성이 서로다른 결과를 얻었다. 절연성능을 평가하기위해 단시간 절연파괴강도와 장시간 절연파괴특성인 트리시스템을 이용하여 절연파괴시간 및 측정하였다. 이와같은 결과에대한 통계적인 분석으로 Weibull plots를 이용하였고 그 결과 분산제가 첨가된 나노콤포지트의 기울기 파라미터인 $\beta$값의 결과로부터 나노콤포지트 우수성을 확인 할수있었다.
