A Study on the Network Throughput of Bluetooth Packet Communication System for Short Distance Wireless Connectivity (근거리 무선 연결을 위한 블루투스 패킷 통신 시스템의 네트워크 처리율에 관한 연구)

  • The Bluetooth technology represents an attractive approach to enable short distance wireless connectivity. The Bluetooth standard operates at the 2.4 GHz ISM band and offers the advantage of establishing ad hoc networks, called piconet and scatternet. The spread of Bluetooth implementation in consumer products opens up a new short range wireless networking applications. Bluetooth MAC avoids packet collision within a piconet by simple time multiplexing. But lack of synchronization among independent neighboring piconets introduces packet overlapping within a time slot. In this paper, the wireless network throughput of Bluetooth packet transmission system applying the pure-ALOHA and slotted-ALOHA MAC is investigated according to the impact of channel environment. From the obtained results, the throughput of the Bluetooth MAC protocol shown to offer good performance in wireless channel, and the results are useful for the implementation of Bluetooth networks.

Thickening of Activated Sludge Using Low Pressure Flotation Pilot System (파일롯 규모의 저압형 부상장치를 이용한 하수슬러지 농축에 관한 연구)

  • Low pressure air flotation (LAF) pilot plant for sludge thickening was installed in Chung Nam N.S. municipal waste water treatment plant to verify its application possibility. Effects of operating conditions such as coagulant dosages and microbubble water ratio on thickening of the mixed sludge were examined. Microbubbles which were generated in the chamber of $1.5kgf/cm^2$ by high speed collision method with foaming agent were used to float sludge. Solid loading of $30kg/m^2/hr$, solid contents in thickened sludge of 60,300 mg/L and SS removal efficiency of 99% were obtained through long period operating LAF in conditions of mixed sludge concentration of 14,400 mg/L, coagulant dosage of 27.6 mg/L, foaming agent addition of 4.0 mg/L and microbubble water injection ratio of 9.7%.

  • 복합분자펌프는 기존의 터보분자펌프 turbine blade에 spiral grooved를 추가하여 초고진공(10-8Pa)에서 저진공(330Pa)까지 넓은 압력범위에서 사용할 수 있고 이 펌프를 사용함으로서 완전 oil free한 진공시스템을 만들 수 있는 특징을 가지고 있다. 특히, 회전체를 비접촉으로 지지하는 자기베어링 방식을 적용함으로써, 진동은 극히 작고 베어링수명은 길면서 중저진공에 대한 배기속도가 크고 임의의 방향으로 접속이 가능하여 반도체 및 디스플레이 제조 공정과 같은 첨단산업의 다양한 분야에 쉽게 적용되고 있으며, 그 적용 분야와 시장은 계속 성장하고 있다. 고 진공과 배기 속도의 달성을 위해서, 고속으로 이동하는 격면과 기체분자를 충돌시켜, 기체 분자를 원하는 방향으로 유도하는 작동원리를 가지고 있다. 특히 공기분자의 밀도가 매우 낮은 희박가스 상태에서 고속 회전하는 blade로 공기분자를 쳐내면서 작동됨으로써 날개의 상하 압력차에 의한 공기력보다도 날개의 고속회전이 매우 중요시되고 압력으로는 10-1 Pa 이하의 분자영역에서 그 성능을 최고로 발휘할 수 있다. 이러한 복합 펌프의 주요 장점은 다음과 같다. 1. 10-8 Pa (10-10 torr) ~ 10 Pa (1 torr) 까지 넓은 영역에서 배기가 가능하다. 2. 탄화수계의 대하여 높은 압축특성을 가지고 있고, 윤활유를 사용하지 않으므로 얻을 수 있는 진공상태가 고청정하다(oil free). 3. 정밀 5축제어 자기베어링으로 완전히 부상하여 회전함으로서 마모가 없고 진동이 최소화하였을 뿐 만 아니라, 또한 운전음도 거의 없다. 4. 설치조건에 제한이 없고 고장이 거의 없다. 특히 복합분자펌프는 탄화수소화합물이 없는 진공을 생성시키면서 구성요소가 간단한 반면 폭넓은 진공대역을 충족하기 때문에 산업계와 연구계의 주요 첨단 분야에서 광범위하게 사용되고 있으며, 최근 반도체 및 디스플레이, 바이오엔지니어링 등의 발전으로 적용분야가 넓어지고 있다.

A High-speed IP Address Lookup Architecture using Adaptive Multiple Hashing and Prefix Grouping (적응적인 복수 해슁과 프리픽스그룹화를 이용한 고속 IP 주소 검색 구조)

  • IP address lookup has become a major bottleneck of packet forwarding and a critical issue for high-speed networking techniques in routers. In this paper, we propose an efficient high-speed IP address lookup scheme using adaptive multiple hashing and prefix grouping. According to our analysis results based on routing data distributions, we grouped prefix lengths and selected the number of hash functions in each group adaptively. As a result, we can reduce collisions caused by hashing. Accordingly, a forwarding table of our scheme has good memory efficiency, and thus is organized with the proper number of memory modules. Also, the proposed scheme has the fast building and searching mechanisms to develop the forwarding table only during a single memory access.

  • In this study, a new airbag sensor packaging technique of directly attachment by adhesive to the automobile frame is introduced. To assess the feasibility for the packaging, a test instrument was manufactured to examine the impact sensibility by drop tests. The conventional sensor module attached mechanically by bolts with plastic housing and the new sensor packaging were installed to aluminum channel, and the results were compared with each other. Numerical analysis was also performed to investigate the signal characteristics created by the sensors. The preliminary results showed that the pattern of the MEMS sensor signal was strongly dependent on the structural behavior of the frame where the sensors were installed, which indicated the complexity of the packaging design for proper airbag deployments.

  • The main game architectures for multiplayer online games are the traditional client-server architectures, multi-server architectures and P2P(peer-to-peer) architectures. P2P architectures, due to their distributed and collaborative nature, have low infrastructure costs and can achieve high scalability as well as fast response time by creating direct connections between players. However, P2P architectures face many challenges. Distributing a game among peers makes maintaining control over the game more complex. These architectures also tend to be vulnerable to churn and cheating. Providing consistency control in P2P systems is also more difficult since conflicting updates might be executed at different sites resulting in inconsistency. In order to avoid or correct inconsistencies, most multiplayer games use a primary-copy replication approach where any update to the object has to be first performed on the primary copy. This paper presents the primary-copy model with the update dissemination mechanism that provides consistency control over an object in P2P architectures for multiplayer online games. The performance for this model is evaluated through simulation experiments and analysis.

  • In this paper, we propose an asynchronous and adaptive message passing scheme based on S-MAC for handling with the problem on energy efficiency in wireless sensor networks. The proposed scheme consists of a policy that differentiate transmission errors caused by packet collision or radio interference from congestion errors caused by buffer overflow and a method that adaptively controls the size of a fragment according to the variance of traffic loads. Especially, it presents a method that highly reduce the energy consumption by keeping the size of fragment not being excessively smaller than the one that may result in rapid increment of the total transfer time. Finally, with the simulation results we show that network throughput and delay are improved by using the proposed message passing scheme.

  • The drone delivery service as a new important business is emerging worldwide. American DHL parcel service is already running the delivery business using drones, and the Google, Amazon, and china's Alibaba, Baidu are also preparing for the same business. However, there are some problems in security and safety since the heavy parcels flies over the people walking down streets, so many things must be considered. The problems can be solved by communicating among drones to avoid collision. Therefore, the efficient network performance is essential, and to resolve the problem, in this paper, an efficient routing protocol is suggested by the Opnet simulator. The drone intercommunication network of MANET is designed and simulated for the efficient routing protocol.

  • The Sequence Of Event (SOE) system used in nuclear power plants is a part of the Plant Data Acquisition System (PDAS). The SOE system of the existing nuclear power plant shares the computer H/W and S/W with PDAS, and requires more complicated structure using three processors to provide the events or trip signals. Moreover, there are high potential of collision between synchronization signals and data transmitted to the Plant Computer System (PCS) when the synchronization signals are sent from PCS to the three SOE processors. When this collision happens the SOE system will break down, thus it is not possible to analyze the trend of events or trips. This paper issues the limitations item of the existing SOE system and proposes the novel SOE system using single processor. And the test system for proposed SOE system is designed, implemented and tested.

Performance Analysis of Multiple Access for Secondary Users in The Spectrum Sensing Cognitive Radio (스펙트럼 감지 무선 인지 네트워크에서 이차 사용자들의 다중 접속 성능 분석)

  • Cognitive radio network technology is that secondary (unlicensed) users use the spectrum of primary (licensed) users without interfering primary communication. In this paper, we propose multiple access scheme for a cognitive radio network, where multiple secondary users access spectrum of one primary user. We consider two types of multiple access scheme, one is p-persistent and one is non-persistent, and apply these two schemes in the secondary network. For each multiple access scheme, total throughput of secondary network is derived and verified by Monte Carlo simulation. Simulation results show that maximum total throughput of the secondary network is achieved when channel access probability or the number of maximum waiting frames is chosen appropriately.
