A Study on the Influence Factors on Flexural and Thickness Modes in the Impact-echo Test (충격반향기법에서의 휨 모드 및 두께 모드의 영향인자에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, various influence factors on the impact-echo test which is an effective method in characterizing defects such as such as the delamination in the concrete structures were studied. The side to thickness ratio(a/h), the relative position of impacting and sensing points over the delamination that have great effects on the flexural and impact-echo(thickness) modes were investigated and examined by the parametric finite element analysis. As a result, the flexural modes dominate in the case of a/h > 2 and the thickness mode was more evident when a/h < 2. With regard to the relative position of impact source and sensing point to the defect, the flexural modes dominate even when either the loading or sensing point was over the delamination defect. However, the thickness mode prevails when both the impacting and sensing points are over the solid region beyond the delamination area.

  • In the present study, sloshing problem is analyzed by the application of Finite Difference Method. SOLA-SURF scheme is applied to the analysis of fluid motion considering free surface. Especially, the concept of impact buffer zone is introduced for the prediction of more realistic impact pressure on tank. Numerical computation is carried out for the typical three models, and the computed results show good agreement with experimental data. The computation is also performed for 300,000 tons VLCC as a real-ship application. From the present study, it is proved that this numerical technique is quite practical to the prediction of sloshing impact pressure.

  • As infrastructures are being deteriorated, nondestructive evaluation of existing structures and construction quality control are increasingly demanded. The importance of predicting compressive strength of concrete structure is also gradually increasing in construction industry. The estimation of concrete compressive strength is a critical factor of the construction management and quality control. This study has been conducted using Schmidt hammer test and Impact echo method, which are nondestructive test methods for the comparison of the concrete compressive strength. It is focusing to examine the relationship between compressive strength of concrete and rebound number by Schmidt hammer test result by Impact echo method. It was found that concrete compressive strength and rebound number have a close correlation.

  • This paper presents a new method for indentifying the location of impact source in a buried duct. In a gas pipeline, the problem of leakage occurs due to the mechanical load exerted by construction equipment. Such leakage can cause catastrophic disasters in gas supply industries. Generally, the cross-correlation method has been used for indentifying the location of impact source in a pipeline. Since this method involves the use of the dispersive acoustic wave, it derives an amount of error in process of estimating the time delay between acoustic sensors. The object of this paper is to estimate the time delay in the arrival of the direct wave by using the wavelet transform instead of the dispersive wave. The wavelet transform based method gives more accurate estimates of the impact location than the cross-correlation method does. This method is successfully used to identify the location of impact force in an actual buried gas duct.

  • 본 연구에서는 먼저 낙하 충격을 받는 전자 제품을 수학적인 모델링을 행하 므로서 낙하 충격시 제품이 받게되는 충격력을 정량화하였고, 전자 제품내 많은 부품들의 낙하충격에 대한 동특성해석의 일환으로 핵심 부품인 PCB(printed circuit board)를 해석하였다. PCB 해석을 위하여 유한요소법을 사용하였고, PCB에 작용하는 half-sine pulse의 속도 변화에 다른 가속도 응 답 및 최대 충격가속도, 주기의 변화에 다른 PCB의 가속도 응답을 해석하였 다. 제시된 해석 기법은 낙하충격에 대비한 적절한 electric component의 layout및 최적의 PCB 취부조건등의 결정을 가능케 함으로써, 설계단계에서 낙하 충격을 고려한 PCB설계가 될 수 있도록 그 활용 방안을 제시하였고 반복된 낙하충격 실험을 줄일 수 있으므로 경비 절감 및 개발 소요기간도 절감할 수 있다.

Development of damage assesment of concrete compression member subjected to impact load using Bayesian probabilistic method (Bayesian 통계방법을 이용한 충격하중을 받는 콘크리트 압축부재의 손상평가의 개발)

  • In this study, the impact load on concrete compression member was considered to assess the quantitative damage index. The case study was carried out using the LS-DYNA, on explicit finite element analysis program. The parameters for the case study were impact load angle, slenderness ratio, etc. Using the analysis results, the performance based design method for impact load was developed using Bayesian probabilistic method, which can be applied to reinforced concrete column design for impact loads.

  • LPMS(Loose Part Monitoring System)는 원자로 및 냉각재계통내에서 발생하는 금속파편의 검출 및 분석을 위하여 사용되는 진단 장비이다. 본 논문에서는 RPV(Reactor Pressure Vessel)의 상부헤드(closure head)와 하부헤드(lower head)에서의 금속파편의 충격위치를 평가하는 LPMS를 위한 새로운 기법을 제안하고, Mock-up에서의 실험을 통하여 그 효용성을 검증하였다. 즉, 수정된 원교차법을 제안하고, 이를 반구로 모델링된 RPV의 상ㆍ하부헤드에 존재하는 금속파편의 위치평가에 적용하므로써 정확한 충격위치를 찾을 수 있음을 보였다. 이들 결과는 충격물질의 질량이나 에너지를 계산하는데 정확한 정보를 제공해 줄 수가 있다.

충격 및 폭발하중에 의한 동적파괴 해석기법

  • 본 논문에서는 균열이 존재하는 구조부재에 충격이나 폭발하중이 가해진 경우 동적응력확대계수를 구하는 방법들은 논의하고 특히 코오스틱 실험법 및 수치적으로 코오스틱 곡선을 구하여 동적응력확대계수를 구하는 과정을 자세히 설명하였다. 폭발 및 충격에 의한 구조물의 파괴해석은 이와 같은 하중을 받는 압력용기, 빌딩, 초고속선, 해군 함정 등의 파괴강도설계 및 안전성 평가에 핵심기술로 대두되고 있으며 또한 우주항공산업, 고속전철, 암반역학 등의 여러 분야에서 중요한 의미를 갖는다. 따라서 앞으로도 균열진전 및 정지조건, 탄소성 동적파괴해석 및 재료의 충격거동 등에 대한 연구들이 계속되어져야 할 것으로 사료된다.

  • Numerical stability is studied based on numerics and mathematics. It is frequently observed in the region where velocity is zero. In that region, the Euler equation have numerous solutions and, thus, it is impossible to determine a unique solution with only governing equations. However, a unique solution can be determined by additional outer flow conditions or outer numerical discontinuity calculation since the information or a unique solution under undisturbed conditions is lost by disturbances. In this reason, the numerical scheme comsistent with Euler equations cannot remove shock instability completely.

  • Electronic speckle pattern interferometry (ESPI) for quantitative evaluation of delaminations inside of a composite material plate is described. Delaminations caused by the impact on composite materials are difficult to detect visual inspection and ultrasonic testing due to non-homeogenous structure. This paper proposes the quantitative evaluation technique of the defects made in the composite plates by impact load. Artificial defects are introduced inside of the composite plate for the development of a reliable ESPI inspection technique. Real defects produced by impact tester are inspected and compared with the results of visual inspection which shows a good agreement within 5% error.
