A bushing is a device used in automotive suspension systems to reduce the load transmitted from the wheel to the frame of the vehicle. A bushing is a hollow cylinder, which is bonded to a solid steel shaft at its inner surface and a steel sleeve at its outer surface. The relation between the force and moment applied to the shaft and the relative deformation and rotational angle of a bushing exhibits features of viscoelasticity. Since a moment-rotational angle relation for a bushing is important for multibody dynamics numerical simulations, the simple relation between the moment and rotational angle has been derived from experiment. It is shown that the predictions by the proposed moment-rotational angle relation are in very good agreement with the experimental results.
In this study, as part of the development of an autonomous flying personal aircraft, an equivalent model of the main wing assembly of an Optionally Piloted Personal Air Vehicle (OPPAV) was developed. Reliability of the developed equivalent model was verified by eigenvalue analysis. The main wing assembly consisted of a main wing, an inboard pod, and an outboard pod. First, for developing an equivalent model of each component, components to produce the equivalent model were divided into several sections. Nodes were then created on the axis of the equivalent model at both ends of each section. In addition, static analysis with unit force and unit moment was performed to calculate the deformation or the amount of rotation at the node to be used in the equivalent model. Equivalent axial, bending, and torsional stiffness of each section were calculated by applying the beam theory. Once the equivalent stiffness of each section was calculated, information of a mass and moment of inertia for each section was entered by creating a lumped mass in the center of each section. An equivalent model was developed using beam element. Finally, the reliability of the developed equivalent model was verified by comparison with results of mode analysis of the fine model.

In this study, the causes of damage to the concrete sleepers in a ballast track with under sleeper pads attached to the base of the sleepers installed in the sharp curved track(R=180m) of the urban railway bridge were analyzed. The damage types of concrete sleepers were investigated, and the correlation with track irregularity was reviewed. Also, stress generated in the concrete sleeper was reviewed through structural analysis. As a result, most of the cracks of the sleepers occurred in the section with severe track irregularity. In addition, as a result of the analysis, the stress generated in the track components and the sleepers was found to be reduce in the fastening system using the 4-anchor.
Recently, regulations on automobile exhaust gas emission are being strengthened. Accordingly, automobile exhaust gas emissions are expected to decrease and continue to decrease. On the other hand, many countries do not yet consider the emission of non-exhaust air pollutants from automobiles as important. Automobile non-exhaust substances are classified into three categories: tire dust emissions, brake wear emissions, and road scattering dust. In particular, in the case of tire dust, research results exist that pollutant emissions increase as the weight of a vehicle increases. Since the weight of trucks varies according to the load and the load along the axles is also different, it can be expected that the emission of PM10 from the tire dust will be different depending on the loading method. Therefore, this study was conducted on the amount of PM10 generated in tire dust considering the axle load of the truck according to the loading method. However, it was confirmed that the total amount of PM10 was less than that all loads are loaded in the front or rear when the load was evenly distributed in the front and rear of the cargo compartment. In particular, if the load is distributed evenly in the front and back of the cargo compartment and the load in the front part is divided into 2 to 6 and loaded, as the number of divided loading increases the amount of PM10 generated decreases. And when the load is divided into 6 pieces, the total amount of PM10 generated is 0.3952g, the minimum value. If the load is divided into 6 or more and loaded evenly, the total PM10 generated continuously increases and converges to about 0.3964g.

The stress-strain behavior of soils can usually be regarded as non-linear, while it is also known that the soil exhibits the linear-elastic behavior at pre-failure state (very small strain range, $<10^{-3}%$). This study aims to analyze the variation of anisotropic elastic shear moduli of granular soils in various stress conditions. The stress probe experiments with the triaxial testing device equipped with local strain gages and multi-directional bender elements were conducted. When the stress ratio exceeds the range between -0.5 and 1.5, the elastic shear stiffness in the axial direction deviates from the empirical correlation with current stresses, which indicates that the yielding of soils alters the internal pathway through which the elastic shear wave propagates. The experimental results show that the variation of elastic shear moduli in the horizontal direction closely relates to the volume change of soils.

In this study, the tensile behavior of concrete specimens reinforced with GFRP (Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer), BFRP (Basalt Fiber Reinforced Polymer), and CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer) bars was experimentally analyzed. The tensile strength of the FRP bars is appeared to be similar to the design strength, but the elastic modulus was somewhat lower. Additionally, the specimens for tension stiffening effect were manufacured using OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) and SFRC (Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete), with dimensions of 150(W)×150(B)×1000(H) mm. The crack spacing of specimens was most significant for GFRP reinforcement bars, which have a lower elastic modulus and a smoother surface, while BFRP and CFRP bars, with somewhat rougher surfaces and higher elastic moduli, showed similar crack spacings. In the load-strain relationship, GFRP bars exhibited a relatively abrupt behavior after cracking, whereas BFRP and CFRP bars showed a more stable behavior after the cracking phase, maintaining a certain level of tension stiffening effect. The tension stiffening index was somewhat smaller as the diameter increased, and GFRP, compared to BFRP, showed a higher tension stiffening index.
Aircraft engines are exposed to high temperatures, high pressures, and stress caused by the rotation of the turbine shaft during flight. These loads can result in microcracks both on the inside and outside surfaces of the structure. Consequently, this can lead to structural defects and negatively impact the lifespan of the parts. To proactively prevent these defects, a finite element analysis is carried out to identify cracks. However, this process is time-consuming and requires significant effort due to the repetitive nature of crack modeling. This study aims to develop a crack modeling method based on the finite element model. To achieve this, the Constrained Delaunay Triangulation (CDT) technique is employed to triangulate the space while considering limitations on point connections. The effectiveness of this method is validated by comparing stress intensity factors for semi-elliptical cracks in plates and cylindrical vessels. This approach proves to be a valuable tool for crack analysis studies.
The structural framework design uses high-strength bolts and welding in column splices. However, for the column under high compression, the number of the required high-strength bolts can be excessive and the increase of welding results in difficulty of quality inspection, the transformation of the structural steels, and the increase of erection time. According to the AISC criteria, when columns have bearing plates, or they are finished to bear at splices, there shall be sufficient connections to hold all parts securely in place. The Korean standard sets the maximum 25% of the load as criteria. Using direct contact makes it possible to transfer all compressive force through it. The objective of this study is to examine the generally applied stress path mechanism of welded or bolted columns and to verify the bending moment and compression transfer mechanism of the column splice according to metal touch precision. For this study,22 specimens of various geometric shapes were constructed according to the change in the variables for each column splice type, which includes the splice method, gap width, gap axis, presence or absence of splice material, and connector type. The results show that the application of each splice can be improved through the examination of the stress path mechanism upon metal contact. Moreover, the revision of the relative local code on direct contact needs to be reviewed properly for the economics and efficiency of the splices.
In a high-level waste repository, the gap fill of the engineered barrier is an important component that influences the performance of the buffer and backfill. This paper reviewed the overseas status of R&D on the gap fill used engineered barriers, through which the concept of the gap fill, manufacturing techniques, pellet-molding characteristics, and emplacement techniques were summarized. The concept of a gap fill differs for each country depending on its disposal type and concept. Bentonite has been considered a major material of a gap fill, and clay as an inert filler. Gap fill was used in the form of pellets, granules, or a pellet-granule blend. Pellets are manufactured through one of the following techniques: static compaction, roller compression, or extrusion-cutting. Among these techniques, countries have focused on developing advanced technologies of roller compression and extrusion-cutting techniques for industrial pellet production. The dry density and integrity of the pellet are sensitive to water content, constituent material, manufacturing technique, and pellet size, and are less sensitive to the pressure applied during the manufacturing. For the emplacement of the gap fill, pouring, pouring and tamping, and pouring with vibration techniques were used in the buffer gap of the vertical deposition hole; blowing through the use of shotcrete technology and auger placement and compaction techniques have been used in the gap of horizontal deposition hole and tunnel. However, these emplacement techniques are still technically at the beginning stage, and thus additional research and development are expected to be needed.

In this paper, we present the analytical study results pertaining to the buckling of the orthotropic plates and local buckling of structural compression members composed of orthotropic plate components. Fiber reinforced polymeric plastic (FRP) materials, have many advantages over conventional structural materials such as steel and concrete. The advantages of the FRP materials are high specific strength and stiffness, high corrosion resistance, right weight, etc. Among the various manufacturing methods, pultrusion process is one of the best choices for the mass production of structural plastic members. Since the major reinforcing fibers are placed along the axial direction of the member, this material is usually considered as an orthotropic (tranversely isotropic, more specifically) material. However, pultruded fiber reinforced plastic structural members have low modulus of elasticity and are composed of orthotropic thin plate components the members are prone to buckle. Therefore, stability is an important issue in the design of the pultruded FRP structural members. In this paper, the buckling of orthotropic plates and the local buckling of pultruded FRP structural members are investigated by following the previous research results and the local buckling strength of the member produced in the domestic manufacturer is found.
