  • Sought a set of component performance lines from experiment data or some data supplied in the engine manufacturer to improve the traditional scaling method and suggested a map scaling method that construct component performance lines newly using polynomial equations of MATLAB program. In this study, applied technique that is proposed newly to PT6A-62 that verified technique that is proposed newly using experiment data of small. size turboshaft engine, and is actuality aircraft engine. In identification of the component maps of the turboprop engine, the simulated performance using the proposed scaling method was compared with the real engine performance data and the performance using the traditional scaling method.

  • A new scaling method for the prediction of gas turbine components characteristics using experimental data of gas turbine test unit has been proposed. In order to minimize the analyzed performance error in the this study, firstly component maps were constructed by real experimental performance data at some operating conditions and a polynomial obtained from scaling factors at given conditions, and then the simulated performance using the identified maps was compared with the performance result using the currently used traditional scaling method. In comparison, the performance analysis result by the currently used traditional scaling method was met well agreed with the real engine performance at most off-design points except for the design point. However the performance analysis result using the newly proposed scaling method had good agreement with the experimental results within maximum 5% error.

  • This paper discusses on the update problem of multi-scale databases when the multi-scale databases, which is several spatial databases covering the same geographic area with different scales, are derived from an original one. Although the integrity between original and derived multi-scale databases should be maintained, most of update mechanisms do not 6respect it since the update mechanisms have assumed that the update of source objects propagates to objects directly derived from the source. In order to maintain the integrity of multi-scale databases during updates, we must propagate updates of sources to objects derived from both the updated source objects and other related objects. It is an important functional requirement of multi-scale database systems, which has not been supported by existing spatial database systems. In this paper, we propose a set of rules and algorithms for the update propagation and show a prototype developed on ArcGIS of ESRI. Our update mechanism provides with not only the consistency between multi-scale databases but also incremental updates.

  • When we derive multi-scale databases from a source spatial database, thegeometries and topological relations in the source database are transformed according to a predefined set of constraints. This means that the derived databases should be checked to see if the constraints are respected during the construction or updates of databases and to maintain the consistency of multi-scale databases. In this paper, we focus on the topological consistency between the source and derived databases, which is one of the important constraints to respect. In particular, we deal with the method of assessment of topological consistency, when 2-dimensional objects are collapsed to 1-dimensional ones. We introduce eight types of topological relations between 2-dimensional objects and 19 topological ones between 1-dimensional objects and propose four different strategies to convert 2-dimensional topological relations in the source database to 1-dimensional ones objects in the target database. With these strategies, we guarantee the topological consistency between multi-scale databases.

  • A new scaling method for the prediction of gas turbine components characteristics using experimental data or partially given data from engine manufacturers has been proposed. In order to minimize the analyzed performance error in the this study, firstly component maps were constructed by identifying performance data given by engine manufacturers at some operating conditions, then the simulated performance using the identified maps was compared with the performance result using the currently used traditional scaling method. In comparison, the performance result by the currently used traditional scaling method was well agreed with the real engine performance at on-design point but it had maximum 12% error at off-design points within the flight envelope of a study turboprop engine. However because the analysed performance by the newly proposed scaling method had maximum 6% reasonable error even within all flight envelope.

  • A multi-scale database is a set of spatial database, covering same geographic area with different scales and it can be derived from pre-existing databases. In the derivation processes of a new multi-scale spatial database, the geometries and topological relations on the source database can be transformed and the transformation can be the cause of the lack of integrity Therefore, it is necessary to assess the transformation whether it is consistent or not after the derivation process of a new multi-scale database. Thus, we propose assessment methods for the topological consistency between a source database and a derived multi-scale database in this paper. In particular, we focus on the case that 2-dimensional objects are collapsed to 1-dimensional ones in the derivation process of a multi-scale database. We also describe implementation of the assessment methods and show the results of the implementation with experimental data.

  • To use surveying data obtained from different sensors and different techniques, it is a pre-requite step that register them in a common coordinate system. For this purpose, we developed methodologies to register airborne photos, ALS (Airborne Laser Scanning) data and digital maps. To achieve this, conjugate features from these data should be extracted in advance. In this study, linear features are chosen as conjugate features. Based on such a selection strategy, a simple and robust algorithm is proposed for extracting such features from ALS data. Then, to register them, observation equations are established from similarity measurements of the extracted features and the results was evaluated statistically. The results clearly demonstrate that the proposed algorithms are appropriate to register these data.

  • To test the current collection characteristics between overhead contact lines and pantograph in a real speed scale costs too much, therefore, it is very difficult to be realized especially in a high speed region. As a alternative, the speed scale-downed tests is proposed. In this paper, the experimental methodology and effectiveness of the speed scale-downed tests are discussed through the dynamic simulation evaluations. To get a more precise test results to the real speed scale test in the 1/2 and 1/4 speed scale-downed tests, various experimental conditions are discussed. Throughout the simulation in a various conditions the effectiveness are evaluated.
