  • As we have entered into the 21st century knowledge and information society, the necessity of computer education has emerged and even its expectation is getting bigger. In spite of that, the present computer education neglects computer programming education which may be the basis of information, as understanding it only as the ability to utilize computer that deals with the usage of application program. Through the programming experience, students are likely tn understand abstract concepts on computer hardware, and to acquire knowledge needed tn solve problems given to them through computer. In this paper, on the basis of the significance and necessity in programming education, using a questionnaire, analyzed the necessity in programming education based upon responses of elementary school teachers to investigate the recognition analysis of elementary school teachers about programming education in elementary schools.

  • The purposes of this study were to develop Korean version of the Kolb learning Style Inventory (version 3.1) by systematic translation process and to test learning style of 596 K University-students. First, Korean version of LSI was successfully developed and tested for ensuring internal consistency reliability and internal validity. Second, K University students' average scores of learning modes were as follows: 27.75 of Concrete Experience(CE), 27.93 of Reflective Observation(RO), Abstract 31,95 of Conceptualization (AC), and 32.37 of Active Experimentation(AE). In addition, the study reported KUT students learning style distribution: 32% of accommodating style, 27.2% of Diverging one, 26.5% of Assimilating one, and 14.3% of Converging one.

  • Citizens of 21st century which is called to be the era of 'Culture' express their cultural desires in their public environments. Governments found that these needs can be satisfied through the culture-centered public designs which are based on the local resources and identities. This research suggests the strategy programming model to support these projects. It aims at not suggesting the conceptual process model, but developing the practical supporting model with options to choose. Thus the indices which are related to each prototype phases of programming process are analyzed through the case analyses with qualitative approach. This paper focused on analyzing the indices for Place Strategy which includes the phases for Resource, Mission, and Targeting. Altogether, 81 indices are analyzed.

  • The problem of common difficulties for the implemented business that imposing the Value Engineering(VE) is crucial. Because of the difference in effect of VE by how an abstract concept as function digitize. Furthermore, to improve achievement of VE,, the advancement of VE is demanded. The most of business conducting the VE is pushing this method with the purpose of cost reduction. As explaining this product, the cost occupies the desktop of F1 and the component of product 54% with the result of analyzing the coefficient of functional requirement. Then the functional cost can be confirmed. Through the result of this study, the fact that the desktop, the bluetooth, the probe occupy the most of products with satisfying the function is able to confirm. An effort for cost reduction in purchasing through adjusting a stable quality demanded for the cost reduction is needed. Also, another effort of proper price reduction by diversification of buyer business is needed also.

  • Though the interest for the construction of ubiquitous city (u-City) has been increased in many researches, many of those efforts are still done somewhat separated ways such as from the perspective of architectural design of urban city or from the perspective of underlying ICT (Information and Communication Technology) implementation. Since there are various services and technical components involved in u-City implementation, those separated approaches can cause much troubles while implementing u-City. In addition to this, because u-City components are continually changing and expanding, to cope with this evolution, many researches about the infrastructure of u-City should be done in a systematic way while integrally considering various perspectives of u-City. In this research, by combining WBEM/CIM standards to GMA (Grid Monitoring Architecture), we could provide WBEM/CIM design that is usable for u-City implementation. In contrast to the conventional research that is still abstract, our study presents concrete and implementable u-City infrastructure model. We hope our result will be a valuable reference for the other u-City infrastructure-related researches.

  • Operating Systems is a discipline which handles complex and abstract concepts related to its components and the principles of how an operating system works. However, most of the OS courses have been textbook-oriented theoretical classes. For students who are familiar with various kinds of media, theoretical classes lead to a decline in the understanding of a lecture and difficulty concentrating. They have tried to make use of educational tools to help students understand a lecture and arouse their interests consistently. This paper describes the design and implementation of a disk scheduling simulator which shows the service processes of disk I/O requests visually. The disk scheduling simulator can be used for demonstrations of the disk scheduling algorithms. The results of the academic achievement evaluation and survey showed that a disk scheduling simulator is useful as an educational tool which causes the interests about operating systems and enhances the understanding of a lecture.

  • The past combats depended often on a number of firepower and manpower. However, integrated decision support viewpoint from communications, surveillance, reconnaissance, intelligence and so forth in combats witnessed in the Gulf, the Middle East, and Afghanistan have changed the trends of combat. That is, the force multipliers which many support systems enhance the combat potential of the fighting forces significantly become big issues to win or not in that combat. According to changing recent combat trend, Lanchester's combat model is being challenged to develop keeping pace with the new trend. We approach this paper as mathematical modeling about how the effect of terrain affects in the combat. Terrain information is invisible, but it is necessary to consider for analysis of warfare. Additionally, tangible or intangible elements affecting to attrition coefficients are continuely reflected to the combat model from decision-makers, then it will be a model closer to the reality and very suggestive to the actual world.

  • The success of Newton's Gravitational Theory has influenced the theory of capillarity, beginning in the early nineteenth century, by providing a major model of molecular attraction. He used the equation of the attraction of spheroids, which is expressed by second order partial differential equations, to utilize this analogy as the same kind of a particle's force, between gravitational, refractive force of light, and capillarity. The solution of the differential equation corresponds to the geometrical figure of the vessel and the contact angle which is made by the fluid. Unknown abstract functions $\varphi(f)$ represent interaction forces between molecules, giving their potential functions. By conducting several kinds of experimental conditions, it was found that the height of the ascending fluid in the tube is inversely proportional to the rayon of the tube or the distance of the plate. This model is an essential element in the theory of capillarity. Laplace has brought Newtonian mechanics to completion, which relates to the standard model of gravitational theory. Laplace-Young's equation of capillarity is applicable to minimal surfaces in mathematics, to surface tensional phenomena in physics, and to soap bubble experiments.

  • This study attempts interpretation of the elements of transcendental fantasy appeared in animation. It is about the characteristics of the different spaces from the reality appeared in animation created out of imagination. In regard to the reason why such aspects of fantasy elements appeared in the whole work appear, it presents the three structures including divisional, fantasy and comprehensive structures and characteristics of spatial images of imagination presented in Gilbert Durand's "Les Strutures anthropologiques de l'Imaginaire", through visual nature, depth, and maldistribution. Thus, this study examines the elements in animation . Transcendental fantasy elements give abstract concepts to certain images as it specifically describes them in reality. The fantasy elements operate when it is viewed through the sensibility of the characters. This study attempts to closely approach the issues on how fantasy elements operate in animation.
