Reaction force compensation (RFC) mechanism can relieve the vibration of base system caused by acceleration and deceleration of mover. In this paper, we propose a new passive RFC mechanism with a movable additional mass to reduce vibration of the system base as well as displacement of the magnet track. First, equation of motion for the new passive RFC mechanism is derived and simulated to tune design parameters such as masses and spring coefficients. Simulation results show that the vibration of the system base of the stage with the new RFC mechanism.

In this paper, in-air and in-water vibration characteristics of Rotary Specimen Rack (RSR) are estimated through 3D finite element modeling by using ANSYS software. Added mass is calculated by using Blevins' equation. To confirm the reasonability of the results presented in this study, obtained results are compared to those of using a theoretical equation. It is confirmed that in-water natural frequencies of the RSR are lower than in-air ones due to the added mass effect of the fluid. Also, to design clamp which needs to fix RSR, Von-Mises stress and displacement of RSR to clamp pressure are calculated.

When sea tide and wave velocity change, the behavior of silt protectors underwater changes, and a hydraulic force exceeding the anchor wave force is applied. In this study, the movement mechanism of a silt protector has been analyzed using the mass-spring method. The initial position of the silt protector was in the Jindo area near Gwangpo Port (742-1, Gyupori, Chongdo-myeon, Jindo-gun, Jeonnam, Korea). The tension required to exceed the holding power of the anchor was 0.05 m/s at 318 sec., 0.15 m/s at 77 sec., 0.25 m/s at 43 sec., and 0.3 m/s at 37 sec.. As the anchor started to move from the sea floor and the tide speed increased to 0.01 m/s, anchor movement start time shortened by an average of 11.2 sec.. Compared with when tide was the only affecting factor, the silt protector and anchor were found to have moved 19.7 % at 0.1 m/s, 7.6 % at 0.15 m/s, 5.8 % at 0.2 m/s, 4.3 % at 0.25 m/s and 2.8 % at 0.3 m/s, showing an increase. When wave effect was added to the tide, anchor movement started when the flow rate was slow 7.6 % of the time. With a high flow velocity, anchor movement started without any significant difference less than 4.3 % of the time. When tide speed exceeded 0.13 m/s and the direction of the waves matched, the silt protector was not able to perform due to collisions with surrounding sea structures. When installing a silt protector, the fluid flow situation and the silt protector situation must be carefully analyzed using the mass-spring method to apply the result found in this study.

In this paper, a reaction-force compensation system for an XY linear motion stage, without an additional external isolation structure or extra motors, is developed. This system consists of a movable magnet track, a spring, a dummy weight, and a dedicated sensor module that measures the relative positions of the movable magnet track with respect to the motor coil. The reaction force compensation system is modeled, and simulations are carried out to optimize design parameters such as the moving distance of the magnet track, the transmission force, the dummy weight, and the allowed size of the mechanism. An XY linear motion stage is built, incorporating the reaction force compensation system, and the performance of the system is verified experimentally. For acceleration and deceleration values of 10 m/$s^2$, 85% of the reaction force is absorbed by the reaction force compensation system.

In this study, the experimental test results are given to confirm the control efficiency of the linear control algorithm used for designing the active mass dampers(AMD) which are supposed to be installed at Incheon international airport control tower. The comparison between the results from test and numerical analysis is conducted and it was observed that the AMD showed the control performance expected by the numerical model. The effects of the gain scheduling and constant-velocity signal added to the control signal calculated by the algorithm is identified through the observation that the AMD always show behavior within the given stroke limit without any loss of the desired control performance. The phase difference between the accelerations of the structure and the AMD were almost close to 90 degree, which implies that the AMD absorbed the structural energy effectively.

Recovery of aromatics in extract phase which was obtained by batch equilibrium extraction between light cycle oil(LCO) and dimethylsulfoxide(DMSO) solution as solvent was investigated by re-extraction. To select the most suitable re-extraction solvent for recovery of aromatics in extract phase, distribution equilibrium was measured between extract phase and solvents. The solvents used were benzene(B), toluene(T), m-Xylene(mX), n-hexane(Hx) and n-hexane(Hx) and n-Octane(Ot). From the distribution coefficients and yields of aromatics, Hx seemed to be the most suitable. Furthermore, effects of operation parameters for re-extraction of aromatics in the extract phase were studied by batch equilibrium re-extracion with Hx as solvent. Yields of aromatics were found to increase with increasing solvent/feed (extract phase) mass ratio(S/F), while distribution coefficients of aromatics were fixed irrespective of S/F used. Operating temperature did not affect distribution coefficients and yields of aromatics. Distibution coefficients and yields of naphthalene group(carbon numer : 10~12) increased with increasing cabon number. Mass transfer rates of aromatics were also measured with a batch stirred vessel.
