Ball-milling Induced Changes in the Crystallinity of Quartz and Wear of Milling Media (볼 밀링에 의한 석영의 결정도 변화와 밀링 매체의 마모의 영향)

  • Quartz (SiO2) is among the major rock-forming minerals in the earth's crust. The atomistic structures of SiO2 may evolve during diverse frictional processes. The reduction of friction of quartz-rock accompanied by its amorphization, hydration, and formation of silica gel provides mineralogical insights into earthquakes and related phenomena. Ball milling, together with rotary shear experiments have been useful to infer the atomic origins of such processes. In this study, optimal experimental conditions for ball milling for amorphization of SiO2 were determined by taking into account various process variables. The crystallinity of SiO2 gradually decreased and became amorphous as the ball milling time increased at a high milling speed. The degree of wear of the milling media and its effect on the amorphization of SiO2 were analyzed using distinct milling materials (zirconia, stainless steel). The amount of ball wear increased with increasing milling time. Furthermore, the worn stainless steel particles from balls tend to interact with amorphized SiO2 to form Si-O-Cr. These results aid in understanding the process of atomistic structural changes caused by ball milling of divserse materials with relatively high hardness, such as SiO2, and understanding various geological friction processes.

  • This study is a study on the methodology of establishing an innovation strategy centering on the customer experience, which is essential in order to transform the existing collection and preservation-centered mutual aid company service into a visitor-centered service. To this end, we conducted literature research on environmental changes in the funeral industry from the perspective of service science and the significance and value of customer experiences within them, good customer experiences and bad customer experiences from the perspective of customer experience management. A study was conducted to present and prove a specific model. The customer experience-oriented innovation strategy of the funeral industry means to search for various alternatives that can reach the target state from the present state, focusing on the customer, and select the most appropriate transformation plan among them. As an effect of application, it was found that it is a source of differentiation by generating positive emotions to customers, and that customer experience data is highly helpful in making important decisions for the actual resource input of the parent company. This innovation model was presented, and its value was firstly proved by analyzing the difference from the existing evaluation method. Finally, as a result of analyzing the causal relationship through regression analysis using the customer experience measurement procedure, customer experience diagnosis/evaluation, customer experience innovation strategy, and cooperative company's performance as variables, the relationship proved to be significant.

  • Mass transit information can contribute many benefits to users. Especially, transportation information technology is developing highly with information technology in Korea recently. Hereafter, it is expected to give customized transportation information to users individually with the advent of ubiquitous age in earnest. This public transportation information service can be realized by path finding algorithm in public transportation networks including travel and transfer attributes. In this research, constraints are constructed with the primary facts influencing users. Moreover, the method reducing user's path finding condition arbitrarily is proposed by making the maximum value as variables. In this study, transfer frequency, total travel time, seat confirmation, transfer time and travel time become constraint condition based on k path finding algorithm considering service time constraint condition. Moreover, case study about user customized transfer information is performed in Seoul and metropolitan subway networks.

Radar Rainfall Adjustment by Artificial Neural Network and Runoff Analysis (신경망에 의한 레이더강우 보정 및 유출해석)

  • The purpose of this study is to get the adjusted radar rainfalls by ANN(Artificial Neural Network) method. In the case of radar rainfall, it has an advantage of spatial distribution characteristics of rainfall while point rainfall has an advantage at the point. Therefore we adjusted the radar rainfall by ANN method considering the advantages of two rainfalls of radar and point. This study constructed two ANN models of Model I and Model II for radar rainfall adjustment. We collected the three rainfall events and adjusted the radar rainfall for Anseong-cheon basin. The two events were inputted into the Modeland Model to derive the optimum parameters and the rest event was used for validation. The adjusted radar rainfalls by ANN method and the raw radar rainfall were used as the input data of ModClark model which is a semi-distributed model to simulate the runoff. As the results of the simulation, the runoff by raw radar rainfall were overestimated but the peak time and peak runoff from the adjusted rainfall by ANN were well fitted to the observed hydrograph.

Removal of NAPL TCE using Cement/Slag contained Fe(II) (Fe(II)로 개질된 시멘트/슬래그를 이용한 NAPL TCE의 제거)

  • The decompostion characteristics of NAPL TCE in cement/slag/Fe(II) system were studied with various TCE concentration and amounts of binders (cement/slag) For analyses of the TCE degradation by cement/slag/Fe(II), TCE solution injected using gas-tight syringe after TCE solution dissolved a methanol. Initial concentrations of TCE are 0.42 mM, NAPL condition 11.7 mM and saturated condition 16.8 mM respectively. The result showed that the cases of 8.4 mM and 4.2 mM are decreased 88% of total TCE concentration within 18 days. NAPL condition 11.7 mM was decreased 84% within 50 days and saturated condition 16.8 mM was decreased 60% of total TCE concentration within 60 days respectively. This showed that degradations of TCE in various concentrations were in one kind reaction as pseudo-first-order. TCE was dissolved as aqueous solution before degraded. The reaction rate was increased $0.12day^{-1}$, $0.24day^{-1}$, $0.31day^{-1}$ when the mass of media 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 S/L rate was increased. TCE reaction speed is affected by cement/slag surface ares in this system. When HDTMA, experimental facter, was added, TCE decomposition rate was high despite the high concentration of NAPL. and The decompostion characteristics of NAPL TCE in cement/slag/Fe(II) system were studied by using modeling.

Evaluation of Flood Events Considering Correlation between Flood Event Attributes (홍수사상 요소의 상관성을 고려한 홍수사상의 평가)

  • A flood event can be characterized by three attributes such as peak discharge, total flood volume, and flood duration, which are correlated each other. However, the amount of peak discharge is only used to evaluate the flood events for the hydrological plan and design. The univariate analysis has a limitation in describing the complex probability behavior of flood events. Thus, the univariate analysis cannot derive satisfying results in flood frequency analysis. This study proposed bivariate flood frequency analysis methods for evaluating flood events considering correlations among attributes of flood events. Parametric distributions such as Gumbel mixed model and bivariate gamma distribution, and a non-parametric model using a bivariate kernel function were introduced in this study. A time series of annual flood events were extracted from observations of inflow to the Soyang River Dam and the Daechung Dam, respectively. The joint probability distributions and return periods were derived from the relationship between the amount of peak discharge and the total volume of flood runoff. Applicabilities of bivariate flood frequency analysis were examined by comparing the return period acquired from the proposed bivariate analyses and the conventional univariate analysis.

Climatic Yield Potential Changes Under Climate Change over Korean Peninsula Using 1-km High Resolution SSP-RCP Scenarios (고해상도(1km) SSP-RCP시나리오 기반 한반도의 벼 기후생산력지수 변화 전망)

  • The changes in rice climatic yield potential (CYP) across the Korean Peninsula are evaluated based on the new climate change scenario produced by the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences with 18 ensemble members at 1 km resolution under a Shared Socioeconomic Pathway (SSP) and Representative Concentration Pathways (RCP) emission scenarios. To overcome the data availability, we utilize solar radiation f or CYP instead of sunshine duration which is relatively uncommon in the climate prediction f ield. The result show that maximum CYP(CYPmax) decreased, and the optimal heading date is progressively delayed under warmer temperature conditions compared to the current climate. This trend is particularly pronounced in the SSP5-85 scenario, indicating faster warming, except for the northeastern mountainous regions of North Korea. This shows the benef its of lower emission scenarios and pursuing more efforts to limit greenhouse gas emissions. On the other hand, the CYPmax shows a wide range of feasible futures, which shows inherent uncertainties in f uture climate projections and the risks when analyzing a single model or a small number of model results, highlighting the importance of the ensemble approach. The f indings of this study on changes in rice productivity and uncertainties in temperature and solar radiation during the 21st century, based on climate change scenarios, hold value as f undamental information for climate change adaptation efforts.

A Study on the Calculation of Load Resistance Factor of over Tension Anchors by Optimization Design (최적화 설계를 통한 과긴장 앵커의 하중-저항계수 산정 연구)

  • To consider the risk of damage and fracture of P.C strands, the existing post-maintenance system alone has the limitations, hence it is necessary to quantitatively evaluate and predict the deterioration, durability and safety of facilities and establish a reasonable maintenance system considering the asset value of facilities. Therefore, it is worth considering a preventive maintenance plan that allows proactive measures to be taken before a major defect occurs in the temporary anchor. This study devised a preventive over tension method, reviewed its effectiveness through design and field tests, by calculating the resistance factors by performing a reliability-based optimization design. At this time, the over tension anchor method was evaluated using the ratio of the residual tension force after the fracture of P.C strands to the effective tension force before the fracture of P.C strand, followed by the resistance factor calculated by the optimal solution for each random variables using Excel solver and applying it to the limit state equations. As a result of the study, if the over tension ratio is 125% to 130%, the remaining strands showed a high resistance effect even after the fracture of P.C strand. As a result of the optimization design, it was found that it is appropriate to apply the load factor (γ) of 1.25, and the resistance factors of Φ1, Φ2, Φ3 as 0.7, 0.5, 0.6.

Analysis of the effect of improving human thermal environment by road directions and street tree planting patterns in summer (여름철 도로 방향과 가로수 식재 방식에 의한 인간 열환경 개선효과 분석)

  • This study aimed to identify the optimal street tree planting method to improve the summer thermal environment in Seoul, Republic of Korea. The effects of road direction and street tree planting patterns on urban thermal environments using ENVI-met simulations were analyzed. The 68 scenarios were analyzed based on four road directions and 17 planting patterns. The results showed that tree planting had a reducing air temperature, mean radiant temperature, human thermal sensation (PET and UTCI). The most effective planting pattern among all scenarios was low tree height (6m), wide crown width (9m), high leaf area index (3.0), and narrow planting interval (8m). The largest improvement in the thermal environment was the northern sidewalk of the east-west road. Since this study used computer simulations, the difference from real urban spaces should be considered, and further research is needed through field measurement and consideration of more variables.

Influence of Temperature on the Photosynthetic Responses of Benthic Diatoms: Fluorescence Based Estimates (온도가 저서규조류 광합성 반응에 미치는 영향: 형광을 이용한 추정)

  • Benthic diatoms are very important primary producers in understanding estuary ecosystems and their productions are largely varied by their photo-physiological characteristics. The short-term effects of increased temperature on the photosynthetic and photo-physiological characteristics of cultured different species of benthic diatoms (Navicula sp., Nitzschia sp., Cylindrotheca closterium, and Pleurosigma elongatum) were investigated by measuring their PSII-fluorescence kinetics using a Diving-PAM. Photosynthesis versus irradiance curves were measured every two hours at six different temperatures (10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and $35^{\circ}C$) for twenty-four hour. The effective quantum yield of PSII ($\Phi_{PSII}$) for most of the species showed a decreasing trend with increased temperature. The relative maximum electron transport rate (rETRmax) was significantly increased up to the optimum temperature level and then sharply decreased. Relative to the values of other parameters, the maximum light use coefficient ($\alpha$) was not substantially changed at lower temperature levels (<$30^{\circ}C$) but significantly decreased only at higher temperatures (30 and $35^{\circ}C$). The light saturation coefficient ($E_K$) mirrored the rETRmax temperature response. In regards to the temperature acclimation abilities of the four species with time, Navicula sp. and C. closterium acclimated to short-term changes in temperature through their photo-physiological adjustments.
