An Examination of the Minimum Reinforcement Ratio for Reinforced Concrete Flexural Members (철근콘크리트 휨부재의 최소철근비에 대한 고찰)

  • The minimum reinforcement ratio is an important design factor to prevent a brittle failure in RC flexural members. A minimum reinforcement ratio is presented by assuming an effective depth of cross-section and moment arm lever in CDC and KHBDC. In this study, it suggests that a rational method for minimum reinforcement ratio is calculated by material model and force equilibrium. As results, a minimum reinforcement ratio using a p-r curve in KHBDC is evaluated about 52~80% of recent design code's value and it induces an economical design. And also, a ductility capacity in case of placing this minimum reinforcement amount is evaluated about 89% of recent design code's value, but ductility in a member is 7 or more, so it has a sufficient ductility capacity. Therefore, it is judged that a minimum reinforcement ratio using p-r curve has a theoretical rationality, safety and economy in a flexural member design.

  • IMO는 해양사고의 80% 이상이 인적과실에 기인하고 있음에 관심을 갖고 ISM Code를 채택 시행하고 있으며, 이로 인해 해양사고의 발생률은 줄었으나, 여전히 인적과실이 해양사고의 주요 요인이 되고 있으며, 특히 선원의 피로가 기여하는 바가 크다는 점에 주목하였다. 이에 IMO STW전문위원회에서는 1999년 11월에 개최된 제21차 회의에서 채택된 안전승무기준에 관한 결의서 A.890(21)의 개정이 필요하며, 현행 SOLAS협약 상 각 체약국 정부가 자체적으로 정하여 시행하고 있는 최소안전승무기준을 통일시켜 국제적으로 일관된 기준에 따라 적절히 시행될 수 있도록 노력하고 있다. 이 논문은 IMO STW전문위원회 논의결과 마련된 최소 안전승무기준의 주요내용과 향후 전망에 대해 알아보도록 한다.

  • The current Korean Concrete Design Code(KCI Code) requires the minimum and maximum content of shear s in order to prevent brittle and noneconomic design. However, the required content of the steel reinforcement In KCI Code is quite different to those of the other design codes such as fib-code, Canadian Code, and Japanese Code. Furthermore, since the evaluation equations of the minimum and maximum shear reinforcement for the current KCI Code were based on the experimental results, the equations can not be used for the RC members beyond the experimental application limits. The concrete tensile strength, shear stress, crack inclination, strain perpendicular to the crack, and shear span ratio are strongly related to the lower and upper limits of shear reinforcement. In this research, an evaluation equation for the minimum content of shear reinforcement is theoretical proposed from the Wavier's three principals of the mechanics of materials.

The Current Status and Issues of the Standards of the Public Library Service for the Disabled (공공도서관 장애인서비스 기준의 현황 및 과제)

  • The realistic guidelines of the library service for the disabled should be made in the circumstance of the growing importance of the library service for the disabled. Therefore, this study intended to draw implications through investigation of guidelines of the library service for the disabled on domestic and foreign libraries. As the results of those investigation, this research found that the legal standard and related guidelines should be amended urgently according to the current status of related library situation. The first Issue that was derived in this study is to separate consideration of the minimum standards and the detailed criteria of library service for the disabled. Secondly, the guidelines of the library service for the disabled should be linked statistics and evaluation index of government in order to be applied to the library spot realistically. To do so, this research suggested that opinions of the library for the disabled and the disabled users should be reflected through listening and communications.

A Study on the Flexural Minimum Reinforcement for Prevention of Brittle Failure Specified in KCI and EN Codes (유럽과 국내기준에 규정된 취성파괴 방지를 위한 휨 최소철근량 고찰)

  • In the design of reinforced rectangular concrete beam structure, the minimum amount of flexural reinforcement is required to avoid brittle failure. KCI code is based on concept of ultimate strength and usually used as a model code. But bridge design code enacted by Ministry of land, transportation and maritime affairs in 2012 is based on concept of limit state and similar to Euro code EN 1992-2. This means that the minimum reinforcement presented in both design codes has different origination and safety margin. When rectangular concrete beams with minimum reinforcement are designed according to EN and KCI codes, the amount of minimum reinforcement specified in EN code is only 76% of that in KCI code. This makes the design engineers to be confused. In this study, flexural tests were conducted on nine beams with the two different minimum reinforcement specified in KCI and EN design codes. In results, the measured ratios of nominal strength to crack strength from the test were about 25% greater than those evaluated from the equations presented in KCI and EN codes. The EN beams having only 76% of the minimum reinforcement for the KCI beams were fractured by rupture of steel reinforcement but in ductile manner. It is confirmed that the minimum reinforcement concrete beams designed according to both codes have enough safety margin in flexural capacity and moreover in ductility.

An Experimental Study on the Determination of Minimum Response Concentration of Inorganic Pollutants in Tap Water (수돗물에서 무기 오염물질 최소 반응 농도 결정의 실험적 고찰)

  • In this study, four inorganic pollutants (cadmium, chromium, manganese, lead), that could cause contamination events in drinking water distribution system, were selected and batch tests were carried out to determine the "minimum response concentration (MRC)", a part of Korean Contamination Warning system establishment. As the results, the minimum response concentration of cadmium was found to be 0.05 to 0.08 mg/L (0.005 mg/L : water quality standard) and that of chrome was 0.03 mg/L (0.05 mg/L). And the minimum reaction concentration was 0.005 mg/L for manganese (0.05 mg / L for water quality) and 0.02~0.08 mg/L for lead (0.01 mg/L).

Analysis of paddy rice water demand depending on transplant period and ponding depth (이앙기 및 담수심 변화에 따른 논벼 수요량 분석)

  • 본 연구에서는 논벼 이앙일수와 담수심의 변화가 논벼 수요량 산정에 미치는 영향을 분석해 보았다. 한국농어촌공사 관할지구인 금사, 중흥, 창평, 구성 지구를 대상으로 하여 2013년부터 2019년 기상자료를 활용하여 산정하였다. 이앙일수는 기존의 농업생산기반설계기준에서 제시한 일수 20일과 전국쌀전업농중앙연합회 소속 농업인을 대상으로 실시한 설문조사 결과를 기반으로 다양한 이앙기간을 적용하였다. 또한 담수심은 최소 0mm, 최대 100mm 범위에서 다양하게 적용해 보았다. 그 결과, 이앙기간이 길어질수록 이앙용수량이 증가하고, 궁극적으로 필지용수량과 논벼 수요량을 증가시켰다. 기존 설계기준인 20일의 이앙일수를 적용한 경우에 비해 이앙일수를 최대 51일 적용할 경우 필지용수량은 평균적으로 16.6 %, 논벼 수요량은 평균적으로 12.9 % 증가를 보였다. 이앙시기를 다르게 한 논벼 수요량과 현장의 농업용수 공급량을 비교 할 경우, 51일의 이앙기간을 적용한 논벼 수요량이 공급량과 가장 적은 차이를 나타내어, 이앙기간 51일이 실제 현장 여건을 가장 잘 반영하는 것으로 판단되었다. 담수심과 논벼 수요량과의 관계에서는 최소 담수심 증가는 수요량의 증가를 야기하였으며, 최대 담수심 증가는 수요량의 감소를 야기하였다. 통상적으로 필지에서 최소 담수심일 때 수요량이 발생하고, 최대 담수심일 때 유출량이 발생하는데, 논벼 생육기간동안 일별 담수심의 변화가 최소 담수심에 도달하여 수요량이 발생하는 일수가 최대 담수심에 도달하여 유출량이 발생하는 일수 보다 많기 때문에 발생된 결과로 사료된다. 따라서 논벼 생육기간 수요량이 크게 산정된 연도 일수록, 최소 담수심 변화가 수요량에 미치는 영향이 크게 나타났다. 결론적으로 이앙일수의 경우 농업현장을 기준으로 볼 때 기존 설계기준에서 제시하는 논벼 수요량은 실제로 소모되는 필요수량보다 작게 산정되는 것으로 파악되어 이앙일수를 현장여건에 부합되게 더 연장하여 적용하는 것이 필요하며, 담수심의 경우 기존의 설계기준보다 최소 담수심은 낮게, 최대 담수심은 높게 적용하는 것이 유효우량 산정에 적합할 것으로 사료된다. 또한 논벼 수요량 산정 결과의 신뢰도 향상을 위해 이앙시기, 담수심 조정 외에도 수로손실 및 침투인자 등에 대한 현장여건 반영도 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

A Study of Minimum Reinforcement Ratio of Singly Reinforced Beamy (단철근 보의 최소철근비에 대한 고찰)

  • A cross section in RC flexural members must be designed to satisfy flexural strength and ductility requirements simultaneously. In design provisions, ductile behavior is ensured by a sufficient reinforcement ratio or depth of the neutral axis. If the reinforcement ratio is less than the balanced reinforcement ratio, ductile behavior is secured, and this value is theoretically the maximum reinforcement ratio. But for a cross section with less steel, brittle failure can occur regardless of ductile behavior because of unqualifying a cracking moment. Recently, designs with a minimum steel ratio have been increasing along with the use of high-strength material, so in design provisions, a minimum amount of reinforcement is suggested. In the KCI(2012) standard, a minimum amount of reinforcement was suggested in terms of strength of steel and concrete. But in the revised KCI(2017) standard, a minimum amount of reinforcement was suggested by a relationship between the design flexural strength and cracking moment indirectly. This code can reflect the effect of cover thickness, but a material model must be defined. Therefore, the minimum amount of reinforcement in KCI(2012) and KCI(2017) was examined, and a rational review method was studied by parametric analysis.
