직.병렬 조합에 의한 박막형 초전도 한류기의 퀜치특성 개선 (Improvement of Quench Properties of a Superconducting Fault Current Limiter Using YBCO Films by Serial and Parallel Combinations)

  • We improved quench properties of a superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) based on YBCO thin films by their serial and parallel combinations. The SFCL consisted of 6 switching elements fabricated of 4 inch-diameter YBCO thin films. The quench currents of the switching elements were distributed between 33.9 A and 35.6 A. Simple serial connection resulted in imbalanced power dissipation between switching elements even at the quench current difference of 0.6 A. On the other hand, $2{\times}2$ and $3{\times}2$ stack combinations produced simultaneous quenches. The $3{\times}2$ stack combination showed better simultaneous quench behavior than the $2{\times}2$ stacks. This is suggested to be because the currents between switching elements in parallel connection of the $3{\times}2$ stacks were more effectively redistributed than the $2{\times}2$ stacks.

  • We fabricated Ni and Ni alloy substrates for YBCO coated conductors. The Ni and Ni alloy substrate was fabricated by powder metallurgy technique and cold rolling. The texture of substrates had a strong 4-fold symmetry and [111]∥ND texture after annealing temperature of 100$0^{\circ}C$. The measured full-width half-maximum (FWHM) of in-plane and out-of-plane was in the range of 6$^{\circ}$-10$^{\circ}$. The powder metallurgy technique is fabrication of the substrates for considered to be suitable for the application of YBCO coated conductors.

F-free 구리 전구용액을 이용한 YBCO 박막 제조 (Fabrication of YBCO films in MOD processing using F-free Cu precursor solution)

  • Superconducting YBCO films were successfully fabricated by MOD process using F-free Cu precursor solution. In this study. a chemically modified precursor solution for MOD Processing was synthesized using metal-organic salts and F-free Cu precursor. It was shown that crack-free and uniform precursor films were formed after calcination in humidified oxygen atmosphere. Less than 3 hours are required to finish the calcination process. XRD measurement shows that $BaF_2,\;CuO,\;Y_2O_3$ are major constituent of precursor films. Furthermore. YBCO films without any secondary phases were successfully fabricated after annealing in wet $Ar/O_2$ prepared on a $LaA1O_3$ single crystal substrate $(10mm{\times}10mm)$ gives transport Ic of 10A at 77K. This chemical modification approach is a possible candidate for improving MOD-processing of YBCO coated conductor.

  • The effect of the addition of the nano size $Y_2O_3$ powder on the microstructurte and superconducting properties of YBCO thin film deposited on LAO single crystalline substrate by TFA-MOD method was studied. Nano size $Y_2O_3$ powder was added to the stoichiometric precursor solution with a cation ratio of Y : Ba . Cu = 1 : 2 : 3 prepared using TFA as chelating agent. Precursor solutions with and without $Y_2O_3$ addition were coated on $LaAlO_3(100)$ single crystalline substrates by dip coating method. Calcination and conversion heat treatments were performed in controlled atmosphere containing moisture Current carrying capacity(Jc) of YBCO film was enhanced about 50% by $Y_2O_3$ doping and it is thought to be due to the better connectivity of YBCO grains and/or the flux pinning by the $Y_2O_3$ particles embedded in YBCO grains.

저압공정을 이용한 MOD-YBCO 박막의 열처리 시간 효과 (Effect of annealing time on MOD-YBCO films at reduced total pressure)

  • The effect of annealing time in Metal Organic Deposition(MOD) method was investigated at reduced total pressure. As the total annealing pressure was reduced, the growth rate of YBCO films increased from 0.14nm/sec at atmospheric pressure to 4.2nm/sec at 1 Torr. For the total pres sure of 700, 500, 300, 100, and 1 Torr, the optimal annealing times of 60, 40, 20, 10, 2minutes were found in our experimental conditions. When the an nealing time was short, poor crystallinity or un-reacted phase was obtained. Also, the degradation of YBCO films occurred when exposed longer to the humid ambient at the high annealing temperature. The reduced pressure was found effective to in crease the growth rate and to control the pore size of the YBCO films in MOD method. A fast growth of MOD-YBCO films was realized with high critical current density over $1MA/cm^2$ using reduced pressure annealing. Large pores, usually observed at atmospheric pressure in MOD method, disappeared and also, the number of pores was reduced.

스퍼터링 증착된 Y-Ba-Cu-O계 박막의 열처리 전 조성이 열처리 후 박막의 초전도특성 및 미세구조에 미치는 영향 (Effects of composition of preannealed Y-Ba-Cu-0 thin films deposited by sputtering on the superconducting properties and microstructure of post-annealed thin films)

  • $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta}$ 단일 타게트를 사용하여 R. F. 마그네트론 스퍼터링법으로 MgO(100), Si(100)기판 위에 박막을 증착한 후, $880^{\circ}C$의 산소 분위기에서 1시간 동안 열처리를 하였다. 열처리 전 박막의 미세한 조성변화에 의해서도 열처리 후 박막의 미세구조 및 전기적 특성은 크게 변화했다. MgO(100)기판의 표면에 성장되는 입자들은 선택 배향적으로 성장하려는 경향을 가지므로 가늘고 길쭉한 입자 형상을 띠는 반면에 이들 입자위에 성장되는 다른 입자들은 결정 성장 방향의 선호도가 없으므로 둥근 모양의 입자형상을 가진다. 열처리 전 박학의 조성이 1-2-3을 벗어나면 증착 후 열처리할 때 액상이 형성되며, 액상의 양이 많을수록 선택 배향적 성장이 용이해져 texture를 쉽게 이룬다. 그러나 이러한 액상은 냉각 시에 초전도입자의 입계에 이차상으로 형성되기 때문에 초전도 박막의 전기적 특성, 특히 임계온도를 저하시킨다. 또한 $T_{c,\;zero}$$T_{c,\;on}$에 비해서 입계에 형성되는 이차상의 영향을 더 크게 받는다.

  • High critical current density, high n value, multiple faults endurances, and fast recovery characteristics of YBCO thin films are very attractive characteristics for developing resistive type superconducting fault current limiters. But due to the limited current and voltage ratings of one YBCO module, it is needed to construct series and parallel module connections for high capacity electric networks. Especially for distribution network, more than 30 units should be connected in series to meet voltage level. So in order to construct distribution-level superconducting fault current limiter, simultaneous quench in one YBCO thin films should be realized, and furthermore, quench should be occurred in all fault current limiting units equally to avoid local heating and failures. In this paper, we proposed optimum design of YBCO thin films for fault current limiting module and technical method using shunt resistor to achieve simultaneous quench between multi current limiting units. From the analytical and the experimental results, optimal current path and thickness of shunt material was determined for YBCO thin films and shunt resistor between modules was developed. Finally, 14 kV one phase resistive fault current limiter using multi YBCO thin films was constructed and it was possible to get satisfactory test results.

Fabrication of YBCO thin film on a cube-textured Ni substrate by metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) method

  • Cube texture를 갖는 Ni기판위에 MOCVD(Metal Chemical Vapor Deposition)를 이용하여 NiO, CeO$_2$, YBCO 박막을 제조하였다. NiO(200)와 CeO$_2$(200) buffer layer는 450${\sim}$470$^{\circ}$C에서 10분간 MOCVD방법으로 (100)<001>Ni 기판위에 직접 증착하였다. 제조된 NiO, CeO$_2$ buffer layer는 조직이 치밀하며 표면의 상태가 매우 좋으며 Ni기판 위에 epitaxial하게 성장하였다. NiO는 Ni기판과 NiO<100>//Ni<100>의 방위관계를 가지고 성장하였으며, CeO$_2$는 증착조건에 따라 CeO$_2$ <100>//Ni<100> 및 CeO$_2$ <110>//Ni<100> 의 방위관계를 가지고 성장하였다. 증착된 NiO막과 CeO$_2$막에서 균열은 발생하지 않았다. MOCVD법으로 표면에 biaxial texture를 갖는 ceramic buffer를 증착시킨 NiO/Ni및 CeO$_2$/Ni 기판위에 YBCO박막을 MOCVD법으로 제조하였다. YBCO막은 기판온도 800$^{\circ}$C,증착압력 10torr, 산소분압을 0.7torr로 하여 10분간 행하였다. 공급원료의 조성에 따라 YBCO의 막의 texture와 형성되는 상이 변화되었다. NiO/Ni및 CeO$_2$/Ni 기판 위에 증착된 YBCO막은 c축 배향성을 가지고 성장하였으며, -scan 및 ${\varphi}$ -scan으로 측정한 (500)면의 in-plane과 (110)면의 out-of-plane의 FWHM(Full Width Half Maximum)값은 각각 10$^{\circ}$ 미만으로 우수하였다.

YBCO 박막을 이용한 3상 6.6kV 항형 초전도 한류기의 동시Quench 분석 (Simultaneous Quench Analysis of a Three-Phase 6.6 kV Resistive SFCL Based on YBCO Thin Films)

  • We fabricated a resistive type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) of 3-phase $6.6 kV_{rms}$ / rating, based on YBCO thin films grown on sapphire substrates with a diameter off inch. Each element of the SFCL was designed to have the rated voltage of $600 V_{rms}$ $/35A_{rms}$. The elements produced a single phase with 8${\times}$6 components connected in series and parallel. In addition, a NiCr shunt resistor of 23 $\Omega$ was connected in parallel to each of them for simultaneous quenches between the elements. Prior to investigating the performance of the 3 phase SFCL, we examined the quench characteristics for 8 elements connected in series. For all elements, simultaneous quenches and equal voltage distribution within 10% deviation from the average were obtained. Based on these results, performance of the SFCL for single line-to-ground faults was investigated. The SFCL successfully limited the fault current of $10 kA_{ rms}$ below 816 $A_{peak}$ within 0.12 msec right after the fault occurred. During the quench process, average temperature of all components did not exceed 250 K, and the SFCL was totally safe during the whole operation.

  • For microwave device applications, c-axis oriented high temperature superconducting YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_{7-{\delta}}$ (HTS-YBCO) epitaxial thin films on the r-cut sapphire substrate(Al$_2$O$_3$) were prepared. In order to reduce the lattice mismatch with a substrate and to enhance the crystallity of HTS thin films, CeO$_2$ buffer layer on the r-cut sapphire substrate was grown by the RF-magnetron sputtering. The YBCO films on the CeO$_2$ buffer layer were deposited using the pulsed-laser deposition (PLD) method. These HTS YBCO /CeO$_2$/Al$_2$O$_3$ multilayer thin films(30 $\times$ 30 mm$^2$) routinely exhibited a critical temperature(T$_{c}$) of 89 K from the R-T measurement. Using HTS YBCO/CeO$_2$ /Al$_2$O$_3$ multilayer thin film. We fabricated and characterized the microwave passive devices (planar type filters) with cryopack-age such as the coupled -line type low-pass filter (LPF) and the open-loop meander type bandpass filter (BPF).filter (BPF).).
