  • 초임계 익형은 천음속 영역에서 비행하는 상업용 민간 항공기와 전투기 날개의 공력성능을 향상시키기 위해 Whitcomb R. T.가 제안 하였다. 초임계 익형은 상부표면을 평평하게 디자인하여 임계마하수보다 큰 마하수에서 나타나는 익형 주위의 충격파 출현을 지연시킴으로써 항력을 줄일 수 있고, 상부 표면의 평면 설계로 인한 양력 감소를 보정하기 위하여 하부 표면의 꼬리부분에 캠버가 있는 형상을 하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 EDISON CFD를 이용하여, 초임계 익형의 공력특성을 해석하고 Xfoil의 data와 비교 분석하였다. 또한, 초임계 익형의 형상을 변경하여 두께와 뒷전 캠버가 다른 초임계 익형을 설계하였다. 새로운 초임계 익형의 형상은 상용 프로그램 Maple12을 이용하여 Whitcomb Integral Supercritical Airfoil의 형상을 수정하여 구할 수 있다. 초임계 익형 주위의 유동을 2D압축성 유동으로 가정하고 EDISON CFD의 2D_Comp-2.0 솔버를 사용하여 수치해석을 수행하였다.

  • The turbulent mixing and combustion of a shear coaxial injector under supercritical pressures have been theoretically/numerically investigated. Turbulent numerical model is based on large eddy simulation with real-fluid transport and thermodynamics over the entire pressure; Soave modification of Redlich-Kwong equation of state, Chung's model for viscosity/conductivity, and Fuller's theorem for diffusivity to take account Takahashi's compressible effect. The results are compared with previous researcher's. The large-scale vortices shedding from the outer rim into the recirculation region to react with gaseous oxygen was investigated.

  • The turbulent mixing of a kerosene/liquid oxygen coaxial swirl injector under supercritical pressures have been numerically investigated. Kerosene surrogate models are proposed for the kerosene thermodynamic properties. Turbulent numerical model is based on LES(Large Eddy Simulation) with real-fluid transport and thermodynamics over the entire pressure range; Soave modification of Redlich-Kwong equation of state, Chung's model for viscosity/conductivity, and Fuller's theorem for diffusivity to take account Takahashi's compressible effect. The effect of operating pressure on thermodynamic properties and mixing dynamics inside an injector and a combustion chamber are investigated. Power spectral densities of pressure fluctuations in the injector under various chamber pressure are analyzed.

An Analysis of the Difficulties Faced by New Science Teachers in Secondary Schools (중등과학 초임교사가 교직수행과정에서 겪는 어려움 분석)

  • This study aimed to identify the difficulties that new science teachers in secondary schools experience. Subjects for this study were 190 science teachers attending qualifying training for 1st degree of teaching certificate. Using an open questionnaire, the difficulties these teachers encounter were collected, categorized, and compared between their first year and their succeeding years of teaching in terms of their school level, gender, majors and regions. Results showed that first year science teachers have had difficulties in areas including subject teaching, guidance, administrative affairs, human relationship and self-understanding. On their succeeding years, difficulties about subject teaching were reduced to half while other difficulties remained. New teachers in middle schools have experienced the most number of difficulties about guidance, while new teachers in general high schools have experienced the most number of difficulties about subject teaching. Based on these findings, some recommendations were proposed for new science teachers in secondary schools, school administrators, and training institutions.

  • 천음속 영역에서 비행하는 에어포일 주위의 유동은 아음속 영역과는 달리 충격파(Shockwave)를 동반하고 이에 따라 복잡한 유동 현상이 발생한다. 본 연구는 천음속 영역에서 설계된 에어포일 주위의 유동에서 충격파 발생에 따른 유동변화의 특징들을 관찰하였다. 특히, 충격파에 의해서 발생하는 진동(Buffeting)과 경계층 유동 박리(Shock-induced boundary layer separation)현상에 대한 관찰과 일반적인 에어포일과 초임계 에어포일(Supercritical airfoil)간의 유동 특성의 차이점을 분석하였다. 본 연구를 위해서 EDISON CFD코드가 사용되었다.

  • Theoritical principles about the real gas equation of state are investigated and comparisons for the thermophysical properties of oxygen, hydrogen, and methane as the propellants of liquid rocket engine are carried out for the various conditions of pressure and temperature including supercritical conditions. The properties obtained using the real gas equation of state(Soave modification of Redlich-Kwong, Peng-Robinson equation of state, and extended corresponding states principle) have been compared with the results of applying the ideal gas equation of state. Differences of thermophysical properties among the models specifically at the liquid phase regime and their error ranges are addressed.

  • In order to maximize the utility of vacuum residue, supercritical solvent extraction technique where n-pentane was used as a supercritical solvent was applied to obtain deasphalted oil from vacuum residue. Oil-extraction yield at various temperatures and pressures and the contents of metal complex and sulfur of extracted oil were investigated. In supercritical state, extraction yield of deasphalted oil was found to be strongly dependent on the n-pentane density, and the metal complex content of extracted oil was effectively lowered when compared with that of vacuum residue. However, the sulfur content of extracted oil showed little difference when compared with that of vacuum residue.

  • Injection visualization of heated mixed simulant droplets based on hydrocarbon fuel was performed under supercritical state environment. Mixed simulant consisted of Decane and Methylcyclohexane with different critical pressure and critical temperature. Flows injected into the supercritical state environment created droplet by Rayleigh breakup mechanism, and the Oh number and Re number were determined to confirm the breakup area. The temperature of the mixed simulant varied from Tr=0.49 to Tr=1.34. The flow rate was maintained at 0.7 to 0.8 g/s. Droplet became shorter in breakup length as heated and into a lumped form. Second droplet was formed and when Tr=1.34, the phase was not visible in the supercritical state with local unsteady flow.

  • Temperatures of cryogenic nitrogen jet inside an injector and at three different downstream positions (0.9, 10.6, and 28.1d) were measured with thermocouples in sub- and supercritical states. The jet temperature decreased while cooling the supply line and injector. The jet experienced from flash boiling, boiling and then no boiling according to decreasing temperature. As an analogy to flash-boiling at the subcritical state, pseudo-flash boiling has been assumed considering the existence of pseudo-boiling at the supercritical state. By showing an area where the temperature did not increase downstream, the plausibility of pseudo-flash boiling is proposed.

  • Bitumen extraction and sulfur removal from Athabasca oil sand were conducted using water in sub- and supercritical condition. Bitumen yield in micro reactor was investigated in the pressure range of 15~30 MPa, the temperature of 360 and $380^{\circ}C$ and water density $0.074{\sim}0.61g/cm^3$ for 0~120 min. Bitumen yield increased with reaction pressure irrespective of temperature and dramatically increased in especially supercritical region due to hydrogen formed from water gas shift reaction. Total amount of gas product decreased with reaction pressure but the portion of sulfur and hydrogen increased a little with increasing pressure to 25 and 30 MPa. It is seen that supercritical condition was favourable to the hydrogen formation and sulfur removal. Bitumen yield and sulfur removal from original oil sand reached a maximum 22% and 40% respectively in supercritical condition(the reaction time of 60 min at $380^{\circ}C$ and 25 or 30 MPa).
