  • Polysilanes with organic substituents such as methyl and phenyl were synthesized by Wurtz dechlorination-condensation reactions using ultrasonic from organochlorosilanes. The yields were compared with the results of thermal dechlorination-condensation reactions. Properties such as thermogravimetric analysis and photoreactivity were investigated for the possibility of applications.

  • In the present study, stabilized rayon fabrics were prepared from fast isothermal stabilization processes, which were carried out within four minutes at $350^{\circ}C$. The effects of ultrasonic cleaning and chemical pre-treatment on the chemical composition, physical characteristics, X-ray diffraction pattern, thermal stability and shape of the stabilized rayon fabrics were investigated extensively. In order to reduce the weight loss and thermal shrinkage of rayon fabrics occurring during the stabilization process, ultrasonic cleaning was first conducted and then chemical pre-treatments using $NH_4Cl$, $Na_3PO_4$, $H_3PO_4$, and $ZnCl_2$ were performed, respectively. The results indicated that both ultrasonic cleaning and chemical pre-treatment influenced the weight loss, thermal shrinkage, microstructure, carbon content, thermal stability and fabric shape of stabilized rayon fabrics. Also the results depended on the fast-stabilization time and the type of chemical pre-treatment agents used.

  • Ultrasonic absorption was measured in bovine serum albumin (BSA) aqueous solution (50 g/l) in the frequency range from 100 kHz to 1600 MHz at neutral pH. Three experimental techniques were used to cover the wide frequency range : plano-concave resonator, conventional Bragg reflection, and high-resolution Bragg reflection methods. The absorption spectrum at neutral pH fitted the relaxation curve well using the distribution function of a mirror image of Davidson-Cole function. The relaxaition behavior was interpreted in terms of various degree of hydration of BSA molecules.

  • This paper presents experimental research results to evaluate the applicability of chemical neutralization reaction and ultrasonic wave to remove cement paste and mortar attached to the surface of recycled aggregate. In order to derive optimal ultrasonic cleaning efficiency and chemical neutralization reaction, experiments were conducted using variables such as ultrasonic frequency and type of chemical solution. As a result, the optimal frequency was found to be 24 kHz, and immersion in a 15% hydrochloric acid solution for 30 minutes of stimulation showed the highest efficiency. In addition, the specific gravity, absorption rate, and wear rate of the quality-improved recycled coarse aggregate were similar to those of general aggregate and were found to satisfy all KS F 2527 standards. Therefore, it is believed that the recycled aggregate whose quality has been improved through the method proposed in this study can be used for concrete.

  • Ultrasound(50KHz) accelerated the reduction reaction of aromatic nitro group to aromatic amino group in high yield with mild condition using iron, hydrazine hydrate and activated carbon under room temperature and atmospheric pressure. The activated carbon has been used as a mixing material to highly active metals. However, aromatic nitro group does not reduce at all only with iron-hydrazine witliout adding activated carbon even under ultrasonic irradiation. We also discovered that the conversion yield from nitro group to amino group is directly proportional to the amount of activated carbon.

  • Determination of uric acid by electrochemical method using ultrasonic stimulation has been investigated. Effects of sonication power, sonication time, pH of the solution and temperature were studied to obtain the optimal analytical conditions. The stability of the electrode was also examined. The optimal conditions for the sonovoltammetric determination of uric acid were as follows: temperature, $25.0^{\circ}C$ pH 7.0; sonication power, $20W/cm^2$. The calibration curve for the determination of uric acid by sono-LSV was linear over the range of$8.0{\times}10^{-6}\~5.0\times10^{-4}M$ and the limit of detection was $6.5\times10^{-6}M$.

  • In examining particulate deposits in the pipes of a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) system, vibration diagnostics is compared and studied against ultrasonic diagnostics, The latter method involves pulsing the outer wall of pipes with an ultrasonic sensor and analyzing the resulting echo to observe particulate deposits inside pipes. Vibration diagnostics examines the existence of particulate deposits by analyzing the difference in the frequencies generated when a vibrator is adhered to the outer wall of pipes. With ultrasonic diagnostics, good test results were obtained only when particulate deposits were attached to the inner wall of the pipes, After some time, however, particulate deposits were not detected properly, as the ultrasonic wave failed to cross the fine gaps created between the inner wall of the pipe and the deposits. The ultrasonic wave bounced back because of the dried particulate deposits on the wall. Thus, it has been proven that the ultrasonic diagnostics is not an appropriate means of examining the particulate deposits in a vacuum, On the other hand, vibration diagnostics succeeded in detecting the particulate deposits regardless of the lapsed time. In conclusion, the vibration diagnostics is being expected as the effective method in monitoring the particulate deposits inside pipes in the CVD system where the desired behavior is reduced frequency along with the particulate deposits in comparison to the case where the pipe is clean.
