Investigation on Minimum Film Boiling Point of Highly Heated Vertical Metal Rod in Aqueous Surfactant Solution (계면활성제 수용액 내 고온 수직 금속봉의 최소막비등점에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, experiments were conducted on the MFB(minimum film boiling) point of highly heated vertical metal rod quenched in aqueous surfactant solution at various temperature conditions. The aqueous Triton X-100 solution(100 wppm) and pure water were used as the liquid pool. Their temperatures ranged from $77^{\circ}C$ to $100^{\circ}C$. A stainless steel vertical rod of initial center temperature of $500^{\circ}C$ was used as a test specimen. In both liquid pools, as the liquid temperature decreased, the time to reach the MFB point decreased with a parallel increase in the temperature and heat flux of the MFB point. However, over the whole present temperature range, in the aqueous Triton X-100 solution, the time to reach the MFB point was longer, while the temperature and heat flux of the MFB point were reduced when compared with pure water. Based on the present experimental data, this study proposed the empirical correlations to predict the MFB temperature of a high temperature vertical metal rod in pure water and in aqueous Triton X-100 solution.

  • 지열은 날씨와 기온 등에 영향을 받지 않고 연중 가동할 수 있어 기저부하를 담담할 수 있는 유일한 신재생에너지 자원이므로 이에 대한 기술개발이 시급하다. 우리나라는 비화산지대이며 지중 온도가 가장 높은 지역의 5km에서 약 $170^{\circ}C$ 내외이므로 외국에 비해 지온경사도가 크지 않은 편이다. 그리고 3km 이상에서는 지하대수층이 거의 존재하지 않기 때문에 지열발전을 위해서는 EGS 기법을 도입할 수 밖에 없는 실정이다. 그리고 지열수를 확보할 수 있는 온도범위가 약 $100{\sim}150^{\circ}C$ 정도이므로 이에 적합한 지열발전 플랜트를 선정할 필요가 있다. 일반적으로 지열발전에 적용되는 플랜트는 건증기 지열발전, 플래쉬증기 지열발전, 바이너리 사이클 지열발전으로 분류할 수가 있으나 국내 여건에 맞는 방식으로서 바이너리 사이클 발전으로서 ORC 플랜트 또는 Kalina 사이클 플랜트가 적합하므로 이에 대한 기술 개발이 적극적으로 이루어져야 한다. 따라서 국내 지열발전의 기술개발에 있어서 핵심요소는 심부천공 및 EGS를 위한 인공파쇄기술과 지상 플랜트로서 저온지열 발전 플랜트의 기술확보가 필요한 실정이다. 이와 같은 기술개발이 완성되면 발전 뿐만아니라 집단지역난방, 온실 및 양어장 등에도 열공급이 가능한 열병합발전이 가능하게 될 것이다. 또한, EGS 기술로서 상업적 성공을 이룬 것은 세계적으로 2~3개 사례에 불과한 신기술로서, EGS 기술의 국내 조기 실현으로 기술 선점 및 해외 수출을 모색할 필요가 있다. 그리고 심부 지열자원은 국내 어디에나 부존하는 ubiquitous 자원이며 이산화탄소 배출이 전무한 청정 국산 에너지 자원이나, 이의 개발에는 높은 초기 투자비와 risk를 요하므로 민간 업체의 투자가 제약을 받는다. 따라서 정부의 적극적인 지원하에 산.학.연 중심으로 시범보급이 우선 이루어진 후 민간의 자발적 투자를 통한 지열 개발을 유도할 필요가 있다.

  • In this paper, the effects of temperature change (low and high temperature) on the impact damages of CFRP laminates was experimentally studied. Composite laminates used for this experiment are CF/epoxy orthotropic laminated plates, which have two-interfaces $[0^{\circ}\;_6/90^{\circ}\;_6]s$ and $[0^{\circ}\;_4/90^{\circ}\;_4]s$. And CF/PEEK orthotropic laminated plates, which have two-interfaces $[0^{\circ}\;_4/90^{\circ}\;_4]s$. And, this study aims experimentally to present the interrelations between the impact energy vs. impact damages (i.e. delamination area and matrix crack) of CFRP laminates (CF/epoxy, CF/PEEK) subjected to FOD(foreign object damage) under low and high temperatures. A steel ball launched by the air gun collides against CFRP laminates to generate impact damages.

An Electrochemical Reduction of TiO2 Pellet in Molten Calcium Chloride (CaCl2 용융염에서 TiO2 펠렛의 전기화학적 환원반응 특성)

  • A porous $TiO_2$ pellet was electrochemically converted to the metallic titanium by using a $CaCl_2$ molten salt system at $850^{\circ}C$. Ni-$TiO_2$ and graphite electrodes were used as cathode and anode, respectively. The electrochemical behaviour of $TiO_2$ pellet was determined by a constant voltage control electrolysis. Various reaction intermediates such as $CaTiO_3$, $Ti_2O$ and $Ti_6O$ were observed by XRD analysis during electrolysis of the pellet. Once $TiO_2$ pellet was converted to a porous metallic structure, the porous structure disappeared by sintering and shrinking with increasing the reaction time at high temperature.

  • The manual was proposed for individual role, according to the stages of forest fire suppression at forest fire occurrence site, for forest fire crew who has a responsibility of national forest office. The scopes of this manual are (1) apply to initial attack before arriving helicopter, (2) apply to ground fire fighting support with air attack, (3) apply to mop-up after withdraw air attack, (4) apply to night suppression when air attack is impossible. This manual is arranged for incident commander or ground fire fighter duties from the 1st stage of acceptance of forest fire to the 10th stage of withdraw of helicopter. This was developed for the purpose of every awareness of the crews and therefore of fire reduction of damage of lives, properties and forest through systematic and rapid response to forest fire.

The Effects of Restricted Trunk Motion on the Performance of Maximum Vertical Jump (몸통 운동의 제약이 최대 수직점프의 수행에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify effects of restricted trunk motion on the performances of the maximum vertical jump. Ten healthy males performed normal countermovement jump(NJ) and control type of countermovement jump(CJ), in which subjects were required to restrict trunk motion as much as possible. The results showed 10% decreases of jumping height in CJ compared with NJ, which is primarily due to vertical velocity at take off. NJ with trunk motion produced significantly higher GRF than RJ, especially at the early part of propulsive phase, which resulted from increased moments on hip joint. And these were considered the main factors of performance enhancement in NJ. There were no significant differences in the mechanical outputs on knee and ankle joint between NJ and RJ. With trunk motion restricted, knee joint alternatively played a main role for propulsion, which is contrary on the normal jump that hip joint was highest contributor. And restricted trunk motion resulted in the changes of coordination pattern, knee-hip extension timing compared with normal proximal-distal sequence. In conclusion these results suggest that trunk motion is effective strategy for increasing performance of vertical jumping.

Discrimination of Echinochloa colona (L.) Link from other Echinochloa Species using DNA Barcode (국내에 유입되는 열대피(Echinochloa colona) 동정: DNA 바코드 중심)

  • Echinochloa colona is one of the most problematic weeds in the paddy fields of the world. In recent years, this species is likely to be introduced in Korea due to global warming, the expansion of international trade including agricultural products, and increasing tourists. We tried to identify the species from Korean Echinochloa crus-galli and E. oryzicola in order to establish the control measures in case of the initial influx. For this study, Echinochloa colona collected from the National Plant Germplasm System, USA were examined and E. crus-galli and E. oryzicola were collected in Korea. It is, however, very difficult to identify for Echinochloa species using morphological characters because of numerous interspecific and intraspecific types found in nature. Thus, we barcoded the species using rbcL, matK, and ITS. All three markers identified E. colona very well from the others. ITS alone may be enough as a DNA barcode for E. colona identification, when considering cost and effectiveness. The barcode sequences were deposited to the National Center for Biotechnology Information database for public use.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify important evaluation criteria that need to be prioritized by developing one for the campustown development project in Seoul. To achieve this, we examined the list of initial ideas for the project and selected the criteria that corresponds to the goal of the project. Moreover, we conducted AHP and preference survey to further refine the evaluation criteria. As a result, improvement of walking space and providing urban regeneration base space were found to be most important; utilizing high density mixed land use was rated as least important. Based on the findings, the proposed evaluation criteria can help the process of the project as guidelines. As initial evidence it can also guide us for a future development direction in between the completion of the first project and the start of the second stage of the project.

  • The purpose of this study is that the low-cost mobile mapping system using INS (Inertial Navigation System) based on MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical System) could decipher the interpretation of road facility with the accuracy of x, y 0.546m plane error. Even though the MMS (Mobile Mapping System) technology as a new measurement technology has been used vividly to set up geographic information by some world leading surveying equipment manufacturers, the domestic technology is still in its beginning stage. Several domestic institutes and companies tried to catch up the leading technology but they just produced prototypes which needs more stabilization. Through this thesis, we developed low-cost mobile mapping system installed with INS based on MEMS after time synchronizing sensors for MMS such as LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging), CCD (Charge Coupled Device), GPS/INS (Global Positioning System / Inertial Navigation System) and DMI (Distance Measurement Instrument).

  • Weight-bearing building materials are substantially weakened under high temperatures, and this is evident through the collapse of structures once engulfed by fire. Currently, there is no scientific or technological process of evaluating the real-time structural stability of a building whcih is engulfed by flame. There are many building design specifications which aim to reduce the risk of fire, but little consideration given to fire officer safety while operating in a dangerous building. This paper aims to provide direction within building policy in order to ensure the safe evacuation of fire-fighters in case of an impending building collapse. This paper suggests evaluation criteria for buildings which are damaged due to fire, autilizing current information on fire-resistant building design and a fire-resistant capacity.
