In this paper, overseas criteria and research results were reviewed to develop a rational criterion proper to domestic airport runways on measurement of friction coefficient and removal of rubber deposit. The friction coefficients of the runways of the Incheon International Airport were measured by the ASFT(Airport Surface Friction Tester) from August 2007 to July 2009 and the data at intensively landed points were analyzed. Variation of the friction coefficient due to accumulation and removal of tire rubber was analyzed and seasonal influence on the variation were investigated by pavement types. The friction coefficient steadily decreased over a long term despite periodical removal of the rubber deposits. The variation of the friction coefficient in summer was larger than other seasons and asphalt pavement was more sensitive to the seasonal influence than concrete pavement. The friction coefficient of the asphalt pavement with macro texture was even larger than that of early age concrete pavement with micro texture. The variation of the friction coefficient of the asphalt pavement due to the deposit and removal of the tire rubber was also larger than that of the concrete pavement.

The objective of this study is to examine the reproducibility for compressive strength development and mechanical properties of lightweight concrete made using bottom ash aggregates and foam(LWC-BF). Based on the mix proportions conducted by Ji et al., six identical mixes were prepared with different actual foam volume ratios from 0% to 25% and water-to-binder ratios from 25% to 30%. The presently measured properties, including initial slump, slurry density, compressive strength gains at different ages, splitting tensile strength, and modulus of rupture, were very close to those determined in the previous tests by Ji et al. Thus, the developed LWC-BF has a good potential in obtaining a reproducibility for compressive strength development and mechanical properties even though the troubles of mixing control owing to the addition of preformed foam.

In this study, the effects of ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBFS) and expansive additive(EA) on early strength mortar were examined for the purpose of reducing carbon and improving cement performance. As a result, ealry strength Portland cement(EPC) tended to decrease in flow compared to ordinary Portland cement(OPC), but binder with EPC and GGBFS was possible to obtain higher liquidity than OPC. EPC showed higher compressive strength and shrinkage than OPC. The compressive strength of specimen with EPC and GGBFS was reduced proportionally to the replacement ratio of GGBFS. The replacement ratio of GGBFS above the compressive strength equivalent to OPC was higher under low temperature conditions. The use of GGBFS resulted in high shrinkage compared to OPC, and this characteristic was even greater under low temperature conditions. The shrinkage of specimen with EA was decreased in early ages, but was higher than the OPC in long-term ages.

This study evaluate the fluidity and hardening properties of mortar by replacement ratio of ferronickel slag powder to estimate the applicability of ferronickel slag powder for cement replacement materials. Ferronickel slag powder was replaced by 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20% of the cement weight. In addition, blast furnace slag powder and fly ash were also used for comparing with the mixtures using ferronickel slag powder. As the test results, the micro-hydration heat of the mixture containing the ferronickel slag powder was lower than that of the mixtures containing the same amount of blast furnace slag powder and fly ash. The flow of the sample with ferronickel slag powder was relatively higher than the other mixtures. In all ages, the compressive strength of the mixture with ferronickel slag powder and fly ash was similar to that of the mix containing only fly ash. In case of drying shrinkage, the mixture containing ferronickel slag powder exhibited lower drying shrinkage than the mixture using blast furnace slag powder, and similar to the mixture containing fly ash.

In general, repair mortar is used to rehabilitate underground communities, but difficulties are encountered in the execution of long-term construction due to spatial co-operatives. In this study, the engineering properties of repair mortar according to the curing condition and accelerator type were reviewed. The results showed that the aluminate, alkali-free and calcium-aluminate precipitates in the water curing conditions showed higher compressive strength at the beginning of age than mortar specimens under air curing conditions, and increased. Especially in CA and AF test specimen with cement mineral quick setting, a large amount of ettringite products were observed compared with AL, thus reducing the pore volume and increasing the strength of the compound by micro-filling effect were found.

In this study, to characterize the application of CSA and dihydrate gypsum Utilizing industrial byproducts, we investigated the characteristics of CSA and dihydrate gypsum to investigate the characteristics of Mine Liner according to the addition amount. As a result of compressive strength, length change and absorption rate of mining lime wastewater according to CSA addition amount, up to 30% of CSA showed a positive effect on shrinkage and absorption reduction effect as well as strength at initial age. However, due to excessive use of CSA 50%, it was reduced by 15% compared to OPC due to increase of absorption rate and decrease of cement amount due to over expansion rather than shrinkage compensation and void filling.

This research assesses the mechanical properties of concrete, utilizing both normal and lightweight aggregates, through measurements of compressive strength and ultrasonic pulse velocity. The study observed that concrete with normal aggregates exhibited higher compressive strength in its initial stages, whereas concrete with lightweight aggregates showed increased strength over time, likely attributed to the higher water absorption rate of lightweight aggregates. Ultrasonic pulse velocity generally registered higher in normal aggregate concrete, barring a specific duration, presumably due to variations in the internal pore structure of the aggregates. The correlation coefficient(R2) for the strength prediction equation, derived from the relationship between compressive strength and ultrasonic pulse velocity, exceeds 0.95. This high correlation suggests that the predictive equation based on these experimental findings is a reliable method for estimating concrete strength.

This study presents an experimental investigation into the performance of self-sensing grout formulated with a high volume of ultra-fine fly ash(UHFA). To explore the potential benefits of alternative cementitious materials, the research examined the effect of substituting UHFA with equal parts of blast furnace slag(BFS) fine powder. Both UHFA and BFS are byproducts generated in significant quantities by industrial processes. The evaluation focused on the fresh properties of the grout, including its flow characteristics, as well as the hardened properties such as compressive strength, dimensional stability(length change rate), and electrical properties. The experimental results demonstrated that incorporating UHFA resulted in a substantial reduction in the plastic viscosity of the grout, translating to improved flowability. Additionally, the compressive strength of the UHFA-modified grout surpassed that of the reference grout(without UHFA substitution) at all curing ages investigated. Interestingly, the electrical characteristics, as indicated by the relationships between FCR-stress and FCR-strain, exhibited similar trends for both grout mixtures.

This paper presents a study aimed at developing repair materials for emergency slope stabilization after disasters such as floods. The research assessed how different mix ratios of fly ash and reinforcement with basalt fibers affect the basic quality properties of mortars. Optimal amounts of fly ash were selected based on these properties, and appropriate amounts of chemical admixtures and thickeners were determined to enhance the quality attributed to the basalt fiber mixture. Notably, high-volume fly ash reduced the need for high-performance water reducers and improved workability, known benefits that also helped mitigate fiber ball issues in conjunction with the effects of thickeners. The experimental results indicated that the developed repair materials could potentially be used for emergency repairs, with a focus on initial age strength. This research aims to provide foundational data for repair materials used in future emergency slope stabilizations.

In this study, DEIPA was used for enhancing cementitious performance of bottom ash replaced cement. By applying the partial or no-known crystal structure method to X-ray diffraction data, the amounts of amorphous bottom ash and calcium silicate hydrate(C-S-H) could be separated and quantified. In the sample without DEIPA, the bottom ash hardly reacted, resulting in low compressive strength. However, the addition of DEIPA not only altered the hydration behavior of the cement but also enhanced the pozzolanic reaction between bottom ash and calcium hydroxide, leading to the generation of additional C-S-H. This resulted in high compressive strength not only in the early stages but also in the later stages. Therefore, with the addition of DEIPA during the pulverization of the bottom ash, the reactivity of the bottom ash was significantly improved. Hence, there is potential in the development of bottom ash replacement cement.
