Role of Intra-aortic Balloon Pump in High Risk Patients undergoing Off-Pump Coronary artery bypass graft (심폐바이패스 없이 시행하는 관상동맥 우회술시 고위험군 환자에서 대동맥내 풍선 펌프의 유용성)

  • Background : This study aimed to evaluate the usefulness of preoperative placement of intraaortic balloon pump(IABP) in reducing operative risk and facilitating posterior vessel OPCAB in high risk patients with left main disease( 75% stenosis), intractable resting angina, postinfarction angina, or left ventricular dysfunction(ejection fraction 35%). Material and Method : One hundred eighty- nine consecutive patients who underwent multi-vessel OPCAB including posterior vessel revascularization were studied. The patients were divided into group I(n=74) that received preoperative or intraoperative IABP and group II(n=115) that did not receive IABP. In group I, there were 39 patients with left main disease, 40 patients with intractable resting angina, 14 patients with left ventricular dysfunction and 7 patients with postinfarction angina. Ten patients received intraoperative IABP support due to hemodynamic instability during OPCAB. Result : There was one operative mortality in group I and two mortalities in group II. The average number of distal anastomoses was not different between group I and group II(3.5$\pm$0.9 vs 3.4$\pm$0.9, p=ns). There were no significant differences in the number of posterior vessel anastomosis per patient between the two groups. There were no differences in ventilator support time, length of hospital stay, and morbidity between the two groups. There was one case of IABP-related complication in group I. Conclusion : IABP facilitates posterior vessel OPCAB in high risk patients, with comparable surgical results to low risk patients

A Study of Korean-American Consumers' Fashion and Shopping Behavior Based on a Bidimensional Model of Acculturation (이차원적 문화적응이론을 토대로 한 한국계 미국인 소비자들의 패션 및 쇼핑 행동에 관한 연구)

  • This study assumes a bidimensional model of acculturation theory in order to understand the acculturation patterns of Korean-Americans and their fashion and shopping behavior. Bidimensional models of acculturation suggest that acculturating individuals may possess the components of both the heritage culture and the new, host culture. A combination of email and paper and pencil surveys was conducted with a convenience sample of Korean-Americans who are living in Seattle and vicinity area (n=108). The questionnaire included questions related to the respondents' and their parents' demographic information, the respondents perceived relationship with their parents, self-reported ethnic identification, ethnicity-related behaviors/attitudes, clothing involvement, shopping motivations, and fashion reference groups. The results support the bidimensional models of acculturation process as opposed to the linear model. Three different groups among Korean-Americans based on their ethnic identification pattern were found: a group with dominant Korean identity(Segregation group), a group with dominant American identity(Assimilation group), and a group with dual identity(Integration group). According to the results of MANOVA and subsequent Duncan and Scheffe tests, the Integration group showed distinct characteristics from Segregation group or Assimilation group, in terms of their ethnicity-related behaviors/attitudes, clothing involvement, shopping motivations, and fashion reference group influence.

  • RDF는 장기저장이 가능한 것이 특징 중의 하나이지만, 우리나라보다 앞서 대량저장을 시작한 일본의 RDF 저장 사일로에서 폭발사고가 발생한 사례가 있어, RDF를 실제로 저장하여 RDF 온도 및 가연성가스 발생상황 등을 장기간 감시 측정하여 사일로 안전관리지표를 도출하였다. 실험에 사용한 RDF 저장조는 직경 3.1m, 높이 11.4m의 사일로방식으로 제작하였다. RDF 저장량은 $70m^3$이었으며, 저장기간은 475일이었다. 사일로에는 15개의 열전대를 설치하여 사일로 표면, 직경방향 1.2m 지점 및 기온을 측정하여 수직방향 및 수평방향의 온도변화를 분석하였다. 가스 샘플링포트는 온도측정지점과 동일한 위치 설치하여 진공펌프로 흡인하여 테트라 백에 포집하여 GC로 분석하였으며, 가스샘플링은 17회 실시하였다. 비교적 대형 저장설비이고 RDF가 열전도성이 낮은 물질임에도 불구하고 사일로 내부온도는 기온보다는 높았지만, 기온의 영향을 많이 받아 7월에 정점, 1월에 하점을 나타내는 사인곡선과 같은 패턴을 보였다. 측정지점별 온도차는 수평방향 보다 수직방향에서 높게 나타났으며, RDF층으로 전열 및 축열이 진행되고 생화학반응을 촉진시키는 상승작용의 결과로 월평균온도가 $49^{\circ}C$를 나타내는 지점도 있었다. 실제 사일로는 RDF의 투입과 배출이 연속적으로 진행되어 방열이 이루어지므로 하계에 대량저장을 실시하지 않는 한 RDF층 내부에서 생화학적 반응열이 생성되더라도 $40^{\circ}C$를 상회할 가능성은 매우 희박할 것으로 판단된다. RDF 저장시 발생하는 가스는 대부분 $CO_2$였으며, 미량이지만 $H_2$, CO, $CH_4$도 검출되었다. 가연성 가스는 저장 후 2개월 동안은 발생하지 않았으며, 하계에는 타 계절에 비해 상대적으로 고농도로 검출되었다. 발생가스와 온도 및 $CO_2$$H_2$농도의 상관성은 높게 나타나지 않았지만, 정의 상관관계를 나타내었다. 저장한 RDF의 성상(수분, 발열량, 분화물)은 실험개시 전의 RDF분석결과와 실험종료 후 분석결과에서는 큰 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 따라서 RDF의 안전 저장을 위해서는 (1) 반입되는 RDF성상관리, (2) RDF가 2개월 이상 장기간 체류하는 데드스페이스가 발생하지 않고 선입선출이 확보되는 저장조 설계, (3) 사일로 내부에 최소 3개 이상의 지점에서 온도를 측정하여 상시감시하고 $40^{\circ}C$이하로 관리, (4) 발생가스는 CO, $CO_2$, $H_2$, $CH_4$ 등의 가연성가스를 모두 측정 감시하는 것이 바람직하지만, 최소 $CO_2$$H_2$는 상시감시하고 각각 1%와 100ppm 미만으로 관리, (5) 배풍기 등을 이용한 상시 환기실시, (6) 하계에는 대량저장이 이루어지지 않도록 저장조 운용계획 수립 등을 실시해야 한다.

Removal of Nitrate in River Water by Microorganisms in Saturated-Zone Soil: Laboratory-Scale Column Test (포화층 토양미생물에 의한 하천수의 nitrate 제거: 실험실규모 컬럼 실험)

  • Aquifer recharge and recovery is a technology used to ensure a stable supply of clean water. During the process, river water is injected into a soil aquifer and stored. The stored water is then recovered and used to produce drinking water. It is important to understand quality improvement of the injected water while it is stored in the aquifer. In the present study, a lab-scale column reactor containing saturated-zone soil was employed to mimic an aquifer. The reactor was used to investigate microbial removal of nitrate that is a major inorganic contaminant detected in the Nakdong River. The reactor was introduced with river water that contained nitrate at concentrations (5.07, 6.81, 8.27, and 11.07 mg $NO_3{^-}/l$) detected downstream of the Nakdong River in the past 2 years. The nitrate concentrations decreased during the introduced water is retained in the reactor. Effluent from the reactor contained 1.49 mg $NO_3{^-}/l$ or less and had an average pH of 7.98 regardless of the nitrate concentrations of the influent. However abiotic control reactor showed similar nitrate-concentrations in its influent and effluent. Considering the result of abiotic control, the decreased nitrate concentration observed in the test column suggested that microorganisms in saturated-zone soil removed nitrate in the river water introduced into the reactor. Results of this study will be used to better understand microbial improvement of water quality in aquifer recharge and recovery technology.

  • We studied the characteristics of catch fluctuation and distribution of yellow tail resources in Korean Waters from 1991 to 2000. The obtained results are summarized as follow, The distribution of yellow tail resources in Korean Waters was showed by mooving north-ward groups from Spring to Autumn and south-ward groups from Autumn to Winter with they passed Winter and spawned from the south of Jeju Island and Tsushima current. Therefore, the fishing ground of yellow tail by handline fishing around Marado targets a school of yellow tails which migrate south-ward so as to winter and spawn.

Colonization Rate of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in Neonates: A Single Center Experience (단일병원 신생아 환자의 메티실린내성 황색포도알균 보균율)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate the colonization rate of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in neonates by different clinical characteristics, to presume the origin of MRSA acquisition, and to identify the risk factors associated with MRSA colonization. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 1,733 neonates admitted to Seoul Eulji hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit between January 2008 and December 2011. Nasal, inguinal and rectal swab specimens were obtained upon admission and each week until discharge. We classified the route of MRSA acquisition as; hospital associated (HA-MRSA) and community associated (CA-MRSA) according to the case definition. Results: Among 1,733 neonates, 415 (23.9%) were colonized with MRSA. Gestational age, birth weight, delivery type, maternal antibiotics usage before delivery, birth place and care place before admission were influencing factors in colonization of MRSA. The colonization rate was significantly high in neonates without maternal prophylactic antibiotics use before delivery than in the other group (relative risk 2.77, 95% CI 1.88-4.07; P<0.01), and outborns showed higher MRSA colonization rate compared to inborns (relative risk 2.28, 95% CI 1.17-4.42; P=0.015). Conclusion: We identified the neonatal MRSA colonization rate to be 23.9%. We estimated HA-MRSA colonization rate to be 10% (51/511) and CA-MRSA colonization rate to be 36% (309/858). We ascertained that risk factors in MRSA colonization in neonates were prophylactic use of antibiotics in mothers and the birth place.

Performance Evaluation and Characteristic Study of the Single Anaerobic Digestion from Piggery Slurry (돈분 슬러리를 이용한 단상 혐기소화공정의 특성연구 및 성능평가)

  • BACKGROUND: Disposal of slurry animal manure produced by an anaerobic slurry-type barn method is not easy since the animal slurry contain high moisture content which makes solid-liquid separation a difficult process. However, recently, the interest about anaerobic digestion process as an environment-friendly waste disposal method has gained a wide interest because it can treat highly organic matter contained by the piggery slurry, decrease the odor after treatment, and enable the effective recovery of the methane gas which is a valuable energy resource. The objectives of this study were to identify the solubilization characteristics and to improve the anaerobic digestion efficiency of piggery slurry through full-scale anaerobic digestion experiments. METHODS AND RESULTS: In a full-scale continuous anaerobic digestion operation, the adaptability of single anaerobic digestion and its digestion efficiency were also evaluated in the farm field. The actual pH range and alkalinity concentration of piggery slurry used during the operation were comparatively higher than the concentrations of pH and alkalinity in the digestion tank which were stable at 7.5~8.0, 4,008 mg/L (as$CaCO_3$), respectively. The removal efficiency of organic matter (TCOD) by anaerobic digestion was 75~90% and methane gas production amount was at 0.33 L/L/day, a little higher than that of ordinary animal manure. CONCLUSION(s): Our findings showed higher recovery of highly purified methane and greater efficiency of anaerobic tank digestion since its methane gas content was at 65~70%.

Water Column Structure and Dispersal Pattern of Suspended Particulate Matter (SPM) in a floating ice-dominated fjord, Marian Cove, Antarctica during Austral Summer (유빙이 점유한 남극 마리안 소만의 하계기간 수층 구조와 부유물질 분산)

  • Vertical measurement of CTDT at about 30 min intervals and spatial surface temperature, salinity, and concentration of suspended particulate matters were conducted to elucidate the character of water column and the dispersal pattern in a floating ice-dominated fjord, Marian Cove, West Antarctica. Marian Cove showed two distinct water layers in terms of turbidity; 1) cold, fresh, and turbid surface plume in the upper 2 m,2) warm, saline, and relatively clean Maxwell Bay inflow between 15-45 m in water depth. Thermal melting of Maxwell Bay inflow and tidewater glacier/floating ices developed the surface mixed layer and the activity of floating ices cause Maxwell Bay inflow to be unstable. Due to the unstable water column, the development of Maxwell Bay inflow and subsequent surface plume are not influenced by tidal frequency. Coastal current generated by strong northwesterly wind may extend warm, saline, and turbid surface plume into the central part of the cove along the northern coast via the western coast of Weaver Peninsula. Terrigenous sediments of meltwaters from the glaciated ice cliffs near the corner of tidewater glacier and some coasts enter into the cove and their dispersion depends upon the hydrographic regimes (tide, wind, wave etc.). At the period of spring tide, the strong wind stress with the northwesterly wind direction reserve suspended sediment-fed surface plume and so allow the possibility of deposition of terrigenous sediments within the basin of cove.

  • Aim to get operation factors, an In-vessel Composting of Wastewater Sludge was operated. The composting equipment is consisted of three chamber, 1st, 2nd and 3rd consequently. In the results, the temperature of fermentation had shown that 1st fermentation chamber(F/C) temperature was higher than that of 2nd and 3rd fermentation chamber. The temperature was steady in all steps during the sludge being composted, the ranges of each step were $50^{\circ}{\sim}59^{\circ}C$ of 1st F/C, $41^{\circ}{\sim}50^{\circ}C$ of 2nd F/C, and $32^{\circ}{\sim}37^{\circ}C$ of 3rd F/C. Organic material content of the end product was 28% and that of pH was 7.5. Properties of the compost which have been composted on optimized condition, were shown that is acceptable to use as a fertilizer. Even in the winter time, the composting system was working well without any trouble. According to result of investigation, the end-product of the system was satisfied with the standard for a fertilizer usage. HRT(hydraulic retention time) of entire process was appropriated to be 14 days(0.9 days at drying and 3.5, 4.4, 5.2 days at each step of fermentations, respectively).

제강분진을 반응촉매로 이용한 침출수의 연속산화처리공정

  • 본 연구에서는 포항제철소에서 제철부산물로 발생되는 제강분진을 전처리 없이 산화촉매로 사용하여 김포 수도권 매립지의 침출수 처리공정에서 펜톤산화조에 유입되는 원수를 대상으 로 과산화수소를 이용한 연속식 산화처리 실험을 수행하였다. 먼저 회분식 실험결과를 바탕 으로 최적 반응조건에서 lab-scale 연속식 기초반응실험과 자체 설계.제작한 연속산화공정에서의 처리실험을 수행하였다. 또한 기존의 펜톤산화공정에서 Fe 공급원으로 사용되고 있는 FeSO$_4$.7($H_2O$)와의 반응성 비교실험도 수행하였다. 반응기간동안 일정 pH를 유지하기 위해 pH controller를 사용하였으며 침출수 수질은 CODcr로 나타내었다. 반응 pH 3.5, 체류시간 1 hr, 과산화수소 주입량 1,500mg/1에서 제강분진과 FeSO$_4$.7($H_2O$)를 각각 주입하여 수행한 연속처리 기초실험에서는 제강분진을 산화반응촉매로 사용한 경우에 침출수CODcr 처리율 62%, 과산화수소의 분해율 52%를 나타내었다. FeSO$_4$.7($H_2O$)를 산화반응 촉매로 사용한 경우에는 약 65-70%정도의 다소 높은 처리효율을 나타낸 반면에 과산화수소의 소비량은 제강분진의 경우보다 약 20%이상의 높은 값을 나타내었다. 연속산화공정 실험에서는 운전 3시간 이후에 유출수 중의 CODcr과 $H_2O$$_2$의 농도가 안정된 값을 나타내었다. 이 때 산화 반응조의 침출수 CODcr 제거효율은 약 43%이었으며, 처리수의 농도는 현재의 침출수 방류기준 이하로 나타났다. 결론적으로 침출수의 연속식 산화처리 실험결과, 처리효율과 경제성에서 제강분진의 산화촉매활용 공정의 개발 가능성이 매우 높은 것으로 나타났다.ell에 의해 완전분해 되었으며, 함께 존재시 TC는 Fe$^{\circ}$만으로는 분해가 되지 않았지만 cell에 의해 완전분해 되었으며, 함께 존재시 TCE분해에 저해작용을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.술의 첨가가 요구되고 있다. 따라서, 산성광산배수 오염지대에 대해 획일적으로 같은 처리방법을 채택하여 사용하는 것보다 각 지역 또는 광산산성폐수가 유출되어 나오는 광산폐기물의 특성 등을 고려하여 거기에 맞는 기술들을 복합적으로 또는 단독으로 사용하되 처리방법 채택 시 신중을 기할 것이 요망된다.정시에는 SeaWiFS 위성과 관련된 global algorithms 중에서 490nm와 555nm의 복합밴드를 포함하는 OC2 알고리즘(ocean color chlorophyll 2 algorithm)을 사용하는 것이 OC2 series 및 OC4 알고리즘보다 좋은 추정 값을 도출할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.환경에서는 5일에서 7월에 주로 이 충체의 유충이 발육되고 전파되는 것으로 추측되었다.러 가지 방법들을 적극 적용하여 금후 검토해볼 필요가 있을 것이다.잡은 전혀 삭과가 형성되지 않았다. 이 결과는 종간 교잡종을 자방친으로 하고 그 자방친의 화분친을 사용할 때만 교잡이 이루어지고 있음을 나타내고 있다. 따라서 여교잡을 통한 종간잡종 품종육성 활용방안을 금후 적극 확대 검토해야 할 것이다하였다.함을 보이고 있다.X> , ZnCl$_{3}$$^{-}$같은 이온과 MgCl$^{+}$, MgCl$_{2}$같은 이온종을 형성하기 때문인것 같다. 한편 어떠한 용리액에서던지 NH$_{4}$$^{+}$의 경우 Dv값이 제일 작았다. 바. 본 연구의 목적중의 하나인 인체유해 중금속이온인 Hg(II), Cd(II)등이 NaCl같은 염화물
