  • NCS(Naval Combat System) is a system that maximizes the combat effectiveness for the naval ships by providing track detection, tracking, thereat analysis, engagement, hit assessment and many other capabilities using ship integrated heterogeneous sensor and weapon systems. In order to achieve the purpose of the NCS, every crew is require to be proficient in the operation of NCS. In accordance with the goal, NCS provides a onboard training function, and the crew conducts system operation proficiency and teamwork training on the ship. Training instructors for control training should have a high standard of training environment control and monitoring capabilities, which need to be studied. This paper studies a 3D display method for visualizing the training situation of training instructors.

  • With current battlefield environment relying heavily on Network Centric Warfare(NCW), existing weaponary systems are evolving into a new concept that converges IT technology. Majority of the weaponary systems are implemented with numerous embedded softwares which makes such softwares a key factor influencing the performance of such systems. Furthermore, due to the advancements in both IoT technoogies and embedded softwares cyber threats are targeting various embedded systems as their scope of application expands in the real world. Weaponary systems have been developed in various forms from single systems to interlocking networks. hence, system level cyber security is more favorable compared to application level cyber security. In this paper, a secure real-time operating system has been designed, implemented and measured to protect embedded softwares used in weaponary systems from unknown cyber threats at the operating system level.

  • Owing to the complexity of shapes and elements, some difficulties are found in the modeling and sharing phases in a project at the earlier design stages. This paper extends the boundaries by suggesting the data interoperability between 3D modeling software, McNeel Rhino 3D and BIM system, and Autodesk® Revit® Architecture. The main research methodology is to link the architectural form data in the NURBS supporting the 3DM format, especially for integrating surface properties into the mass family template of Revit. This algorithm-driven interoperability approach using visual programming, such as Dynamo in conjunction with Autodesk®, can be applicable in a theoretical part and also a practical use-case. This paper summarizes these results as sequence guidelines and project template recommendations suggesting an efficient design process to interoperate geometric data with the BIM system to manipulate and control the regular and curved form of office buildings.

  • It is an important issue to evaluate the effectiveness of chemical warfare through modeling and simulation(M&S) technology. In this paper, we propose the M&S methodology and environment for the chemical warfare for effectiveness analysis. In detail, for modeling perspective, we propose three fundamental component models according to their behaviors, which are a chemical weapon, a detecting device system, and an engaging unit system. Among proposed models, the chemical weapon and the detecting device system models are represented by engineering-level system models, whereas the engaging unit system model are described as an engagement-level system model. For simulation perspective, we apply a hybrid simulation environment using High Level Architecture (HLA) to interoperate with the proposed engineering and engagement-level models. The proposed M&S methodology and environment enables to evaluate the effectiveness of the chemical warfare system considering the doctrines, the performance of device or weapon, and weather factors. To verify the efficiency of the proposed methodology and environment, we experimented three categorized case studies, which are related with those considering factors.

  • Avionics OFP runs on the mission computer and can be operated by interacting with several avionics equipments. In order to verify OFP SW, SIL having real avionics equipments or models is absolutely necessary. Therefore in many cases SIL is implemented concurrently with OFP developing, and only one SIL is provided to developers. So developers sometimes need an alternative to SIL for verifying requirements in the middle of development process. In this paper, we propose a single PC based STE SW that simulates interworking equipments and verifies OFP in a single PC environment without actual interworking equipments or SIL HW interfaces.

  • In this paper, we have proposed a design method for standardization of weapon information exchange between a weapon control computer of guided missile system and a high echelon command and control system. Because the weapon control computer based on diverse combat platforms is operated with several kinds of a high echelon system, it is necessary to provide a standardized design method for weapon information exchange between mutual system. In fact, it is possible to standardize a interface design specification of weapon information message because weapon information message is closely related to standard tactical data link message. It is essential that the interface design specification of weapon information is submitted to that of tactical data link information. It seems that this interface design specification is very useful in development process of the future weapon system.

  • This paper proposes a standard method for linking data between the U-City Integrated Urban Management Platform and u-service systems through systemization of event identification and standardization of event priority. By applying the proposed method, the incoming events to the Management Platform are listed and processed according to their priority of urgency. The application of the systemized event ID and standardized event priority enables prompt counter-measures against urban emergencies and disasters, which improves the efficiency of business processes by reducing the time and cost to complete required actions.

  • In this paper, we have described an aircraft captive flight test for the development test of weapon systems. We have conducted a captive flight test for the development of core onboard parts and sensors of airborne weapons and guided missiles. We have used KTX-1/XKO-1 aircraft as a platform for the captive flight test. In order to perform a captive flight test, we have made a captive test pod as a shape of external fuel tank in the XKO-1 and have modified XKO-1 aircraft for a system interface. We have taken a development test about all kinds of seekers, navigation & guidance systems, and core part of guided missile through the aircraft captive flight test.

  • An airbreathing propulsion system of a subsonic cruise missile is mainly composed of a small gas turbine engine, air intake and vehicle's fuel tank. The propulsion system integration work started from engine acceptance test is finally closed by ground functional test of the missile's propulsion section, after some modifications of engine's sub-components, development of engine-related onboard systems, interface analyses, and tests. The whole process and stepwise technologies of this system integration work are described herein.
