  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of adolescent health behavior on obesity using an online health behavior survey. The subjects of this study were 12,090 middle school students and 14,248 high school students among 26,338 Korean youths that responded to an online survey of youth health behaviors in 2018 (14th). There were significant differences in lifestyle, mental factors, exercise habits, and sitting habits as health behavior factors. The risk of obesity was higher in smokers (p<0.001), drinkers (p<0.001), those who ate breakfast less than four times a week (p<0.001), those who consumed fruit less than four times a week (p<0.001) and those who ate fast food less than two times a week (p<0.001). The obesity rate was higher in people with high-stress (p<0.05). Exercise habit as a factor was higher in the obesity rate than in physical activity by three times as much (p<0.001), whereas students categorized as muscular (p<0.01) had one to two times more physical activity (p<0.001). Students who had less than six hours of learning purpose were found to have higher obesity rates than those with more than six hours of learning purpose (p<0.001). In conclusion, the obesity rate did not increase with prolonged sitting habits, but did increase with longer sitting time except for those who studied purpose folly. Therefore, it is necessary to have a set time for internet use, as well as to educate schools about proper lifestyle, and to promote healthy exercise habits.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influences of adolescents on self-rated health and happiness, physical activity, and mental health according to time of smartphone use. The researcher used raw data from the Korea youth risk-behavior web-based survey(2017). A total of 64,991 adolescents were enrolled and 54,603 were analyzed in logistic regression analysis. The researcher set gender, self-rated health and happiness, physical activity, and mental health as independent variables and performed logistic regression analysis with smartphone overuse time as dependent variables. As a result, the female had a smartphone overuse of 1.49 to 1.67 times higher than male. Subjectively healthy people were 1.2 to 1.35 times more likely to use smartphones than those who did not(p<.001). People with higher physical activity were higher by 1.17 to 1.18 times than people without physical activity(p<.001). Subjective happiness did not predict smartphone usage(p>.05). People with subjective stress were higher 1.13 to 1.22 times than people without stress, and person with sadness and despair and suicide plan, 1.37 to 1.54 times, 1.17 to 1.24 times than those who did not(p<.001). Depression tended to become more serious as smartphone use increased. These investigation suggest that the self-rated health, physical activity, and mental health excluding self-rated happiness are related to overuse of smartphone.

  • Thepurpose of this study was to provide a basic data health plan & education program for adolescents by examining the recent 3 year Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey data obtained in 2013, 2014 and 2015. The data was analyzed with theSPSS 18.0 statistical program using the t-test and cross-analysis. After confirming the drinking habits of teenagers in Korea, the issue was slightly lower in the issue of problem drinking. However, the first time for drinking alcohol was the 2nd grade of middle school(21.5%) and the average alcohol intake was 20 to 29 days(3.8%) and usually consisted ofmore than two bottles (12.2%)s. Also, the method of buying liquor was found to be mainly at convenience stores(32%), and the adolescents werefound not to have been trained for drinking(52%). As a result of comparing the general characteristics of these items, it was found that there was a significant difference between the coeducation type, the high school type, the trace in the residence type, and the 'middle-high level' in terms of the socio-economic level. When comparing the results of the drinking behavior during these three years, the outcome of the trend is still noteworthy, as health education for drinking alcohol is still important, and attention needs to be paid to this problem.
