This study is to concentrate vanadium in Jeju groundwater using reverse osmosis processes, and to utilize the concentrate for vanadium water. Groundwater samples were taken from Wahyul, Ayum, and Seogwipo groundwater wells with different in vanadium content each other. Their vanadiuln concentrations were 31.8, 44.5, and 53.0 ppb, respectively. The rejection coefficients of every component in groundwater were increased with the increase of TMP At the TMP of $8 kg_f/cm^2$, the rejection coefficients of vanadium, sodium, potassium, aluminium, iron, and barium were $97.4%{\sim}99.0%,\;97.7%{\sim}97.8%,\;98.0%{\sim}98.3%,\;94.8%{\sim}97.5%,\;88.0%{\sim}96.4.0%$, and $97.9{\sim}98.0%$, respectively. And those of magnesium, calcium, chromium, mauganese, and strontium in three groundwater were more than 99.0% at the same TMP. It was possible that vanadium contents of Wahyul, Ayum and Seogwipo groundwater were concentrated into 58.6, 118.9, and 165.1 ppb, respectively, by 6 stages treatment at the recovery ratio of 15%. And these concentrated water (vanadium water) did not exceed the permissible drinking water standards.

In the present study, carbon molecular sieve (CMS) hollow fiber membranes were prepared by carbonizing a methyl imide hollow fiber precursor, which was spun by non-solvent induced phase separation process. And effects of carbonization parameters such as pre-oxidation, pyrolysis, and post-oxidation on the gas permeation were systematically investigated. CMS membrane having the highest gas flux was obtained by carbonizing the precursor through a combined process of air pre-oxidation at $250^{\circ}C$ for 2h, nitrogen pyrolysis at $550^{\circ}C$ for 2h, and oxygen post-oxidation at $250^{\circ}C$ for 2h. The optimized membrane showed a considerable gas permeance : the $H_2$, He, $CO_2$ permeances were 69.72, 35.61, 31.01 GPU, respectively, and the $O_2$ and $N_2$ permeances were ignorable. Therefore, it was clear that the prepared CMS hollow fiber membrane was a promising membrane for recovering small gases such as hydrogen and hellium and carbon dioxide.

We synthesized novel polyimides with high gas permeability and selectivity for application of gas separation membrane. 2,2-bis(3,4-carboxylphenyl) hexafluoropropane dianhydride (6FDA) and two kinds of amines with high permeability and solubility were used to prepare the novel polymide. 2,4,6-Trimethyl-1,3-phenylenediamine (DAM) was used to improve gas permeability and 4,4-Methylenedianiline was used to improve the gas selectivity respectively. The polyimide copolymers were synthesized by commercial chemical imidization method using Triethylamine and Acetic anhydride and their average molecular weights were over 100,000 g/mol. The glass temperature (Tg) and the thermal degradation temperature were characterized using differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The synthesized copolymers showed high Tg over $300^{\circ}C$ and high thermal degradation temperature over $500^{\circ}C$. The gas permeation properties were measured by time-lag equipment. Although general polyimides showed very low gas permeability, synthesized polyimide copolymer showed high $O_2$ permeability of 10.1 barrer with high $O_2/N_2$ selectivity around 5.3. From this result, we confirm that these membranes have possibility to apply to gas separation membrane.
After membrane fouling factors in acrylic wastewater were minimized by pretreatment process accompanied with $TiO_2$, it was utilized in MF/UF/RO process. After composing of ultrafiltration/reverse osmosis or microfiltration/reverseosmosiss module set according to types and kinds of membrane, the separation characteristics were examined with the variation temperature and pressure using pretreated acrylic wastewater by membrane module sets. The permeate of ultrafiltration or microfiltration module was sent to reverse osmosis module. It was found that final permeate flux of reverse osmosis module in module set 2 (MWCO 200,000 UF+RO) was excellent. It was shown that the removal efficiency of TDS, T-N and COD was very low and was not dependent on the variation of temperature and pressure in UF and MF modules. From the above result, the removal efficiency of TDS, T-N and COD was very excellent in RO module. The removal efficiency of turbidity in UF and MF module was very high (> 99% removal efficiency). Final water quality of acrylic wastewater treated by the membrane module set was satisfied with effluent allowances limit and membrane module sets were ascertained to reuse wastewater.

Carbon molecular sieve (CMS) hollow fiber membranes were prepared by carbonizing a polyimide precursor manufactured by non-solvent induced phase separation process. Gas separation performance of CMS hollow fiber membrane was investigated on the effect of three carbonization conditions. CMS membrane with the highest gas separation performance was obtained at the pyrolysis temperature of $250-450^{\circ}C$: $N_2$, $SF_6$, and $CF_4$ permeance were 20, 0.32, 0.48 GPU, respectively, and $N_2/SF_6$ and $N_2/CF_4$ selectivities were 62 and 42, respectively. In the $SF_6/CF_4/N_2$ mixture gas test, when the stage cut was 0.2, the recovery ratio of $SF_6$ and $CF_4$ was over 99% and 98%. $SF_6$ concentration ratio was 4.5 times higher than the $SF_6$ concentration at the feed side. From the results, it was concluded that CMS membrane was one of the promising membranes for recovery Perfluorocompound gases process.

In this study, loose RO hollow fiber membranes using CTA polymer were prepared by phase inversion method and their water purification properties were tested. 1,4-dioxane and LiCl was used as a skin layer formation agent and pore formation agent, respectively. Water flux, salt rejection, chlorine resistance, MWCO and membrane morphology were evaluated as a function of the dope composition. When the membrane prepared using the dope solution of CTA/NMP/1,4-dioxane = 18/72/10 (wt%) with air gap of 30 cm, it shows improved RO performance such as $20.5L/m^2hr$ of water flux, 60% of NaCl rejection, 10,000 ppm/hr of chlorine-resistance and around 5,000 Da of MWCO.

This paper presents a new image rejection algorithm based on the analysis of the distortion of a single-frequency continuous-wave (CW) signal due to the I/Q mismatch. Existing methods estimated the gain mismatch and phase mismatch on RF receivers and compensated them However, this paper shows that the circular trajectory of a single-frequency CW signal is distorted elliptic-type trajectory due to the I/Q mismatch. Utilizing the analysis, we propose a I/Q mismatch compensation method. It has two processing steps. In the first processing step, the generated signal is rotated to align the major axis of the elliptic-type trajectory diagram with the x-axis. In the second processing step, the Q-channel signal in the regenerated signal is scaled to align the regenerated signal with the transmitted single-frequency CW signal. Simulation results show that a receiver using the proposed image rejection algorithm can achieve an image rejection ratio of more than 70dB. And, simulation results show that the bit error rate performances of receivers using the proposed image rejection algorithm are almost the same as those of conventional coherent demodulators, even in fading channels.
Partially fluorinated poly(arylene ether sulfone) block ionomer membranes with different branch degree for fuel cell applications were investigated. A sulfonable monomer, a non-sulfonable monomer and a trifunctional branching agent were synthesized and the sulfonable monomer was oligomerized to obtain block structures. The oligomer was then further polymerized with the non-sulfonable monomer and the branching agent. The mole ratio of oligomer : non-sulfonable monomer was fixed at 4:6 and the content of the branching agent was varied from 0 to 2 mol% (BBC-40Bx). Post-sulfonation of BBC-40Bx was carried out using chlorosulfonic acid (CSA) (SBBC-40Bx). All the synthesized compounds were characterized by $^1H$-NMR, $^{19}F$-NMR and FT-IR. It was confirmed that the ion exchange capacity (IEC), water uptake and ion conductivity of SBBC-40Bx increased with the increment of branching agent content.
In order to select the most suitable membrane to the concentration of vanadium and silica in groundwater, two different commercial NF membrane modules (NE2540-90 and NF90-2540) and three different commercial RO membrane modules (BW30-2540, RE2540-TE, and XLE-2540) were tested. The membrane characteristics test results showed that NE2540-90 module was the most efficient because of higher permeate flux and similar rejection coefficient. Using NE2540-90 module at the transmembrane pressure of $8\;kgf/cm^2$, it was found that the rejection coefficients of vanadium, silica, aluminium, chromium, iron, boron, strontium, and barium were 98.2%, 99.0%, 92.0%, 83.6%, 96.0%, 45.1%, 98.6%, and 69.5%, respectively. It was possible that vanadium and silica contents of groundwater were concentrated into $148.9\;{\mu}g/L$ and 85.8 mg/L respectively by six-stages NF process at the recovery ratio of 15%. The waters produced by NF, which are enriched in vanadium and silica content, are expected to be commercialized the various functional mineral waters.

In this study, to optimize the production and utilization of biogas for organic waste resources, the precision monitoring of on-site facilities and the energy balance by facility were analyzed, and the solutions for field problems were investigated, and the design and operation guidelines for pretreatment facilities and generators were presented. Gas pre-treatment is required to solve frequent failures and efficiency degradation in operation of high quality refining facilities, and processing processes such as desulfurization, dehumidification, deoxidization, dust treatment, volatile organic compounds, etc. Since these processes are substances that are also eliminated from the high-quality process, quantitative guidelines are not presented in the gas pretreatment process, but are suggested to operate during the processing process as a qualitative guideline. In particular, dust, siloxane, and volatile organic compounds are the main cause of frequent failure of high-quality processes if they are not removed from the gas pretreatment process. Design of the biogas high-quality process. The operation guidelines provide quality standards [Methane content (including propane) of 95% or more] with 90% or more utilization of the total gas generation, two systems, and a margin of 10% or more. It also proposed installing gas equalization tank, installing thermal automatic control system for controlling equalization of auxiliary fuel, installing dehumidification device at the back of high quality for removing moisture generated in the process of gas compression, installing heat-resisting facilities to prevent freezing of facilities in winter and reducing efficiency, and installing membrane facilities in particular.
