Implementation plan of eMBMS in the case of LTE-R (철도통합무선망(LTE-R) 환경에서의 eMBMS 구현방안)

  • In December 2017, the world's first LTE-R for 250km/h high-speed railway was commercialized with the opening of Wonju-Gangneung high-speed railway. LTE-R has many advantages such as voice and video call, high-speed data transmission, coverage redundancy and DU redundancy. But it requires efficient use of radio resources because of a limited bandwidth of 10MHz for UL and DL, respectively. The existing unicast scheme has limited high frequency efficiency so when the number of users increases, service is limited due to the network load, which could be a problem for LTE-R in terms of stability and reliability. On the other hand, the multicast scheme via eMBMS can provide stable service even if the number of video users is high. This paper derives the number of unicast scheme users considering the LTE-R network with LAB test and calculation result, and proposes implementation plans and considerations for eMBMS commercialization on LTE-R.

  • The railway system has been recognized as one of the best eco-friendly advanced transportation systems. Furthermore, the improvement of the passenger transportation quality and the energy saving have been studied for being the most competitive transportation system. However, most of the studies have been mainly focused on the improvement of the transportation efficiency and energy saving because of the characteristics of the urban railway which serves the unspecified multiple passengers. In this paper, the 3-dimensional vibratory lateral acceleration has been measured in various environments for the automatic and manual operation modes of the general train and express train in the urban railway lines. In terms of the improvement of the passenger transportation quality, the comparison analysis of the ride quality is carried out based on the measured 3-dimensional vibratory lateral acceleration and the statistical techniques of UIC513R suggested by the International Union of Railways.

  • In this paper, we studied efficient design of wireless transmission system for unified data transmission in a subway and railway. It is increased that need of broadband multimedia service to make useful environment for users and to support the operation of railway system. High bandwidth is better if we need more services. But, high bandwidth requires more cost at tunnel of subway. And more bandwidth makes received antenna sensitivity bad. So it needs more wireless stations. We deduced best bandwidth for subway wireless transmission system using the cost of installation and efficiency of system. Consequently, we proposed efficient service model for broadband wireless system at a subway. Subway broadband wireless transmission system is testing and extended to province subway. The cost of subway broadband wireless transmission system is saved, because the system can be efficiently designed using proposed service model. Therefore, the effectiveness of it will be expected to be very big.

  • 21세기는 한국 철도의 르네상스시대라고 부르고 있다. 이는 자동차와 비행기 등 다른 교통수단에 의해 낙후되어있던 철도가 다시 안전하면서도 정확한 운송시간 등으로 그 경쟁력을 확보해가고 있으며 때를 같이하여 고속철도의 개통을 앞두고 있기 때문이다. 이러한 철도의 경쟁력을 강화하는데 크게 기여한 부분 중 하나가 신호 보안장치 즉 열차제어장치의 발전에 있다고 하겠다. 하지만 열차를 제어하기 위해선 실시간격으로 열차의 절대 위치를 알아야만 하는 문제점이 있다. 이를 비교적 쉽게 극복할 수 있는 방법 중 하나가 인공위성을 이용한 통신기술을 이용하는 것이다. 이는 이미 다른 분야에서는 상용화되어 서비스가 이루어지고 있는 GPS(Global Positioning System)이다. 본 논문에서는 열차의 절대 위치를 GPS(Global position system)를 이용하여 구해 보고자 한다. 이를 위해 GPS 신호 추적을 확장형 칼만 필터를 적용하여 열차의 속도 변화에 대한 GPS 신호 추적 루프를 예측 제어함으로써 보다 정확하고 빠른 GPS 위치 정보를 도출하였다.

  • Recently, the demands for the satellite broadband mobile communication services are increased. To provide these services, mobile satellite communication systems for the passengers or crews on the high-speed moving vehicles, are being developed for the last several years especially in the Europe and North America. However, most of these systems can provide only several hundred kbps of transmission rate and this is not enough performance to provide satellite internet service for the group users such as passengers on the high-speed train. Moreover, service availability with these systems is limited to be rather low because they don't have any countermeasure scheme for the N-LOS environment which happens often along the railway. This paper describes mobile broadband satellite communication system, which is on the development, to provide high data-rate internet services to the high-speed trains. This system is applied with the inter-networking scenarios of both satellite/terrestrial network and satellite/gap-filler network so that it can provide seamless service even in the train operating environment, and these inter-networking schemes result in high service availability. And this system also has the countermeasure schemes, such as upper layer FEC and antenna diversity, for the short fading which is occurred periodically on the railway due to the power supplying structures so that it can provide high speed internet services. Mobile DVB-S2 technology which is now being standardized in the DVB is used for the forward-link transmission and DVB-RCS for the return-link.

A study on the wire reduction design and effect analysis for the train vehicle line (철도차량 배선절감 방안 및 효과분석에 관한 연구)

  • The railway is a public transportation system that provides large-scale passenger transportation and service, whose reliability and safety is the top priority. The wiring of railway vehicles is classified into train control lines (train lines) and communication lines. The train lines are used for input / output signals related to vehicle driving and safety functions, and the communication lines are used for the input / output signals for passenger services such as broadcasting. In order to measure the reliability of railway vehicles, a train line is applied to the input / output interface of the control signals between the electric control devices in the vehicle, and there are many electromechanical devices such as relays and contactors for the control logic. In fact, since the vehicle control circuit is composed of several thousand contacts, it is difficult to check for errors such as contact failure, and it is impossible to check the real-time status, so a lot of manpower and time is required for regular maintenance. Therefore, we analyze the current state of the train line design of the electric equipment used for driving and services in domestic railway cars and propose three wiring reduction methods to improve it. Based on the analysis of domestic electric vehicles, it was confirmed that the wiring reduction effect is 35% or more.

  • Korea Railway is enhancing the railway wireless communication system from VHF and TRS which have been used for 100 years to LTE-R starting with Ministry of Science and ICT's allocation of Integrated Public Network Frequency on December 2014. LTE-R has advantages on technology performance, also on ease of evolution based on standardization compared to existing technologies. However there are few problems that need to be solved to provide stable railway wireless services in the future. Due to national spectrum policy, LTE-R has frequency interference with Integrated Public Networks (PS-LTE, LTE-M ) and UHD-TV which was commercialized in 2017. This paper introduces performance changes caused by interferences which were founded from the test bed in Wonju~Gangneung LTE-R project and the result of RAN-Sharing. In addition, this paper suggests the standard for LTE-R cell planning in the case of sharing the Integrated Public Network Frequency by analyzing the changes of designed link-budget factor based on the test result.

  • 선로상에 열차의 은행에 지장을 주는 장애물들 검지하였을 때 반대편 열차에 알리거나 열차내의 긴급한 상황이 발생하였을 경우에 대비하여 열차와 지상의 사령과는 항상 열차무선을 통하여 정보를 교환한다. 초창기에 사용하는 열차무선시스템은 열차의 운행빈도나 사용자의 측면에서 아날로그방식의 음성통화로 충분한 서비스를 제공할 수 있었으나, 근래에는 고밀도의 열차운행 및 고속화로 다수의 사용자가 요구하는 서비스를 충족하기에는 많은 개량할 부분을 가지고 있다. 통신기술의 발전과 더불어 한국의 고속철도에서 사용예정인 열차무선시스템은 이러한 사용자들의 요구를 충족하기 위해 통신망의 개념을 도입하고 디지털의 TRS 시스템을 이용하여 많은 사용자의 요구를 충족하려고 노력하고 있다. 또한, 유럽에서 여러 국가를 횡단하는 고속열차의 경우 열차무선시스템에서 횡단하는 국가들간의 호환성을 극복해야하는 문제 등을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존 VHF방식의 개량할 점과 TRS시스템의 특징 및 유럽에서 사용중인 열차무선시스템의 운영방법 등을 통하여 열차무선의 발전방향을 제시하고자한다.

  • This study investigates effects of hardware and telecommunication and software service divided by ICT service on each 5 transportations to explore convergence of ICT and Transportation. Research models are production inducing effects, Added Value inducing effects of Demand-Driven model and Shortage cost effects of Supply-Driven model by using data for 2010~2012 of Input-Output Table. Results are that network and software service effects are more impact than hardware effects on transportations. Especially, hardware is impacted heavily on production inducing effect, telecommunications and software services has had a significant impact on the production inducing effect and Shortage cost effects. In addition, by each detail the transportation industries, packages and other transport and road transport is influenced greatly from ICT. On the other hand, rail and water transport are relatively lower impact by ICT, However, the effects of rail and water transport by ICT is grater than investment ratio of ICT. As a result, increasing investment in the ICT services could contribute to development of rail and water transport development.
