3백60년의 전통을 자랑하는 하버드대학교 미국에서 가장 오래된 명문사립대학으로 찰스강 북쪽에 mit와 이웃하여 자리잡고 있다. 많은 노벨상 수상자와 6명의 대통령을 배출한 하버드 대학교는 세계에서 가장 큰 도서관을 갖고 있으며 대학원생 3천명, 대학생 1만8천여명이 재학중이다.

72년 이어폰 잭 부품을 조립 수출하는 단순 조립공장으로 출범한 흥창물산은 80년대말 참여한 이동통신기기산업으로 제2의 도약을 이루며 종업원 1천명에 1천억 매출의 중견기업으로 성장했다. 서울과 인천에 연구소를 두고 있는 흥창물산은 무인기지국 원격제어장치와 고주파 전력증폭기 등을 생산, 국내 이동통신에 납품하여 호평을 받고 있다.

연세대내에 자리한 '초미세표면과학연구센터'는 회원 1천명이 넘는 표면과학회가 주축이 되어 반도체개발에 밀접한 관련이 있는 초미세표면을 중점적으로 연구하기 위해 출범한 연구소이다. 교수급 연구원 28명과 연세대를 비롯한 14개 대학과 2개 연구소가 협력기관으로 참여하고 있다.

이번호엔 미국의 스탠포드대를 찾아보았다. 미국의 캘리포니아 북부에 있는 팔로 알토라는 소도시에 위치한 스탠포드대는 1885년 미 상원의원 스탠포드부부가 15살에 병사한 아들을 위해 1천만평의 목장을 학교부지로 기증하여 세운 학교로 18명의 노벨상 수상자를 탄생시켰다. 전체 재학생은 학부ㆍ대학원에 각각 6천명씩이며 한국인 유학생은 현재 대학원에 1백 50명이 재학중이다.

In the late 1980s, 5 new towns such as Bundang, Ilsan, Pyeongchon, Sanborn, Jungdong were constructed to solve housing problems and to disperse functions concentrated within Seoul. As the city got matured, it began to appear the initial signs of urban problems such as aging of high rise-density apartment sites, traffic congestion, lack of parking spaces and aging of infrastructure. Therefore, in order to cope with urban problems, it is very important to apprehend the process of urban growth, its change and the feature of physical/human elements. So, the purpose of this thesis is to analyze the changes in housing and population characteristics for past 20 years by use of Census data from 1995 to 2010. First, the new town's goal of population and housing plan at the time of construction was analyzed how it was achieved, and it is close to the performance of the goal. And the trend of changes in the population and household characteristics was analyzed by every five year's data. As the result of analysis, it shows socio-demographic changes such as aged and elderly population growth, rapid increase in one generation's household and single person household, highly educated city, monthly rent household's increase and charter household's reduction. Results of this analysis can be utilized to aforethought management of new towns. But it is required more sustained and systematic urban monitoring and data analysis because the one-off analysis of the city's characteristics alone is difficult enough to grasp them.

Confucius said, "at fifteen, I had my mine bent on learning, At thirty, I stood firm, At forty, I had no doubt, At fifty I knew the decrees of Heaven, At sixty, my ear was an obedient organ for the reception of truth, At seventy, I could follow what my heart desired, without transgressing what was right." This dissertation's aim is to articulate the ideas and methodology of 'learning to become a sage' based upon his saying. Confucius believe in reality of the human mind & it's nature. What Heaven has conferred is called the human nature. An accordance with this human nature is called path of human duty. Confucius's concept of human path is realization of humanness. Confucian's Human relationship is none other than conscientiousness and altruism. This Rule is expressed in the confucian version of reciprocity: "What you do not wish for yourself, do not do to others." Confucian principles of reciprocity imply is equal to Kantian Categorical imperative. This principles imply universalizability and equal consideration.

Finite element analysis was conducted for cold roller leveler to verify numerical model of roller leveler developed by POSTECH. On-line model of roller leveler was developed to predict rapid and precise roll intermesh of roller leveler in thick plate mill. The cold roller leveler in thick plate mill was analyzed using MARC & MENTAT and the results are compared with the results of numerical model of roller leveler calculated by POSTECH.
