Simultaneous Determination of Residual Synthetic Antimicrobials in Animal Muscles by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (액체 크로마토그라피를 이용한 동물 근육조직 중의 합성항균제 동시 분석)

  • This study is conducted to deyelop more conyenient simultaneous determination method by HPLC for mixed antimicrobial agents (sulfamerazine; SMR, sulfamethazine; SMT, sulfamonomethoxine; SMMX, sulfadimethoxine; SDMX, sulfaquinoxaline; SQX, furazolidone; FZ, zolene; ZOL and ethopabate; EPB in muscles of boline, pork and chicken. The drugs were extracted by dichloromethane and water. The extract, after solyent eyaporation, was partitioned in hexane/water and water/dichloromethane. The dichloromethane layer was filtrated with anhydrous $Na_5S0_4\;in\;_3G_3$ glass filter and was eyaporated to dryness. The residue was dissoIYed in mobile phase. The test solution analyzed by HPLC. The chromatograpic conditions were as follows; Column-Spheri 5 RP-8($4.6{\times}220,\;5\;{\mu}$), Wayelength-270 nm, Mobile phase-acetonitrile: 0.005 M oxalic acid (22 : 78). The ayerage recoyeries of drugs from muscles of boline, pork and chicken spiked standard solution were approximately 74~99%, 73~99% and 75~96%, respectiyely. The limits of detection were 5 ppb for SMR, SMT, SMMX, SDMX and EPB, and 8 ppb for SQX, FZ and ZOL.

Biological Evaluation of Water Quality and Community Structure of Benthic Macroinvertebrates in the Pyungchang River Water System, Gangwon-do, Korea (강원도 평창강 일대 저서성 대형무척추동물의 군집구조 및 수질의 생물학적 평가)

  • A biological assessment of water quality was carried out in the Pyungchang River water system, Gangwon-do, Korea from September 1999 through August 2000. The benthic macroinvertebrates collected seasonally from 15 field sites were identified mostly up to species level. Benthic macroinvertebrates composed of 109 species, 77 genera, 31 families, 10 orders, 4 classes in 4 phyla. Dominant species occurring in all the field sites were mostly ephemeropterans and trichopterans. On the basis of the values of species diversity and biological indices such as Trent Biotic Index (TBI) Modified Biological Monitoring Working Party Score System (BMWP) and Biotic Index (BI), the Pyungchang River Water system was generally regarded as showing oligosaprobic water quality.

Detection of Synthetic Musk Compounds (SMCs) in Nakdong River Basin (낙동강 수계에서의 인공 사향물질 검출 특성)

  • The aims of this study were to investigate and confirm the occurrence and distribution patterns of synthetic musk compounds (SMCs) in Nakdong river basin (mainstream and its tributaries). 4 (HHCB, AHTN, AHMI and ADBI) out of 6 polycyclic musk compounds (PMCs) and 1 (musk xylene, MX) out of 5 nitro musk compounds (NMCs) were detected in 29 sampling sites and HHCB (>50%) was predominant compound followed by musk ketone (MK) and AHTN. The total concentration levels of SMCs on February 2009 and on September 2009 in surface water samples ranged from N.D. to 2147 ng/L and N.D. to 1386 ng/L, respectively. The highest concentration level of SMCs in the mainstream and tributaries in Nakdong river were Goryeong and Jincheon-cheon, respectively. The sewage treatment plants (STPs) along the river affect the SMCs levels in river and the SMCs levels decreased with downstream because of dilution effects.

Analysis of UV Filters in Water using Stir Bar Sorptive Extraction (SBSE) and GC/MS-MS (교반막대 추출법과 GC/MS-MS를 이용한 수중의 자외선 차단제 분석)

  • A highly sensitive analytical method based on stir bar sorptive extraction (SBSE) technique and gas chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (GC/MS-MS) has been developed, allowing the simultaneous multi-analyte determination of seven UV filters in water samples. The stir bar coated with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) was added to 40 mL of water sample at pH 3 and stirred at 1,100 rpm for 120 min. Other SBSE parameters (salt effect and presence of organic solvent) were optimised. The method shows good linearity (coefficients > 0.990) and reproducibility (RSD < 12.9%). The extraction efficiencies were above 84% for all the compounds. The limits of detections (LOD) and limits of quantification (LOQ) were 2.1~8.6 ng/L and 6.8~27.5 ng/L, respectively. The developed method offers the ability to detect 8 UV filters at ultra-low concentration levels with only 40 mL of sample volume. Matrix effects in tap water, river water, wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) final effluent water and seawater were investigated and it was shown that the method is suitable for the analysis of trace level of 7 UV filters except of benzophenone (BP). The method developed in the present study has the advantage of being rapid, simple, high-sensitive and both user and environmentally friendly.

Monitoring of Hazardous Chemicals for Effluents of STPs and WWTP in the Nakdong River Basin (낙동강수계 주요 하·폐수처리장 방류수내 미량유해물질 모니터링)

  • This study was investigated twenty two hazardous chemicals compounds for effluents of nine sewage treatment plants (STPs) and one waste water treatment plant (WWTP) in the Nakdong Ri-ver Basin. They are eleven phthalates(DMP, DEP, DIBP, DBP, BEEP, DNPP, DHP, DCP, DEHP, DNOP, Dinonyl phthalate, seven aliphatic hydrocarbons(n-Tridecane, n-Tetradecane, n-Pentadecan-e, n-Hexadecane, n-Heptadecane, n-Octadecane, n-Nonadecane, Isoquinoline, 2-Chloropyridine, 2-N-itrophenol, and Benzophenone. The twenty two compounds were analyzed by gas chromatograp-hy mass spectrometry (GC/MS) with liquid-liquid extraction (LLE). Twenteen of twenty two subs-tances were detected. They were DMP, DEP, DIBP, DBP, DEHP, n-Tetradecane, n-Pentadecane, n-Heptadecane, n-Octadecane, n-Nonadecane, Isoquinoline and Benzophenone. Among these, DEHP, DEP and Benzophenone were most frequently observed. They were obtained as $ND{\sim}36.881{\mu}g/L$, $ND{\sim}0.950{\mu}g/L$, $ND{\sim}2.019{\mu}g/L$, respectively. When the substances were calculated the average concentration at 10 points, the maximum average detection concentration was investigated at the Dalseocheon STP.

A Study on Microstructural Evolution of Hot Rolled AZ31 Magnesium Alloy Sheets (열간 압연한 AZ31 마그네슘합금 판재의 미세조직 발달에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, a sheet forming process of Mg alloys is highlighted again due to increasing demand for Mg wrought alloys in the applications of casings of mobile electronics and outer-skins of light-weight transportation. Microstructure control is essential for the enhancement of workability and formability of Mg alloy sheets. In this research, AZ31 Mg alloy sheets were prepared by hot rolling process and the rolling condition dependency of the microstructure and texture evolution was studied by employing a conventional rolling mill as well as an asymmetric rolling mill. When rolled through multiple passes with a small reduction per pass, fine-grained and homogeneous microstructure evolved by repetitive dynamic and static recrystallization. With higher rolling temperature, dynamic recrystallization was initiated in lower reduction. However with increasing reduction per pass, deformation was locallized in band-like regions, which provided favorable nucleation sites f3r dynamic recrystallization. Through post annealing process, the microstructures could be transformed to more equiaxed and homogeneous grain structures. Textures of the rolled sheets were characterized by $\{0002\}$ basal plane textures and retained even after post annealing. On the other hand, asymmetrically rolled and subsequently annealed sheets exhibited unique annealing texture, where $\{0002\}$ orientation was rotated to some extent to the rolling direction and its intensity was reduced.

A Design Methodology of Relational Database Based on Dataflow Diagram (자료흐름도에 기반한 관계형 데이터베이스의 설계방법)

  • The design process of a relational database system consists of requirement analysis, conceptual design using ER diagram, logical design, and physical design. In logical design process, the conceptual schema is transformed to relational schema, and relational schema is normalized. This traditional design process is hard to applied in real database design process, since there is an ambiguity in conceptual design process. In this paper, we suggest a new design process, which provides more structural design steps by removing the conceptual design process. In new approach, we produce the data flow diagram by the structural methodology. From the attributes in the data store of data flow diagram, we construct relational table schema, and we normalize relational schema. Finally we produced table relationship diagram in order to figure out relationships between tables.

Structural Optimization of Active Vehicle Suspension Systems (능동형 차량 현가장치의 성능 향상을 위한 구조 최적화)

  • This paper presents a method for the simultaneous optimal design of structural and control systems. Sensitivities of performance index with respect to structural design variables are analyzed. The structural design variables are optimized to minimize the performance index by use of conjugate gradient method. The method is applied to a half model of an active vehicle suspension system with elastic body moving on a randomly profiled road. The suspension control force of an optimally controlled system in the presence of measurement errors are calculated by use of linear quadratic Gaussian control theory and Kalman filter theory. The performance index contains ride comfort, road holding and working space of suspension. The structural design variables taken are stiffness, daming properties and the position of the suspension system. The random road profile considered as colored noise is shaped from white noise by use of shaping filter. The performance of an optimal simultaneous structure/control system is compared with that of an optimal controlled system.

Micromorphometric change of implant surface conditioned with tetracycline-HCI : $FBR^{(R)}$ and CeliNest surface (표면처리 시간에 따른 임프란트 미세구조의 변화 : $FBR^{(R)}$과 CellNest 표면 임프란트)

  • The present study was performed to evaluate the effect of tetracycline-BCL on the change of implant surface microstructure according to application time. Implant with pure titanium machined surface, double coated $FBR^{(R)}$ surface and oxidized CellNest surface were utilized. Implant surface was rubbed with $50mg/m{\ell}$ tetracycline-BCL solution for ${\frac{1}{2}}$, 1, $1{\frac{1}{2}}$, 2 and $2{\frac{1}{2}}$min. respectively in the test group. Then, specimens were processed for scanning electron microscopic observation. The results of this study were as follows. 1. Both test and control group showed a few shallow grooves and ridges in pure titanium machined surface implants. There were not significant differences between two groups. 2. The double coated $FBR^{(R)}$ surfaces showed fine crystalline structures. The roughness of surfaces conditioned with tetracycline-BCL was lessened relative to the application time. 3. The oxidized CellNest surfaces showed the porous structures. The surface conditioning with tetracycline-BCI influenced on its micro-morphology. In conclusion, the detoxification of the affected implant surface with $50mg/m{\ell}$ tetracycline-BCL should be applied respectively with different time according to various implant surfaces.

Analysis of Trace Levels of Halonitromethanes (HNM) in Water using Headspace-SPME and GC-ECD (Headspace-SPME와 GC-ECD를 이용한 수중의 미량 Halonitromethane (HNM)류 분석)

  • Halonitromethanes (HNMs) are one of the most toxic groups of disinfection by-products. Recently, various studies have been fulfilled. An automated headspace-solid phase microextraction (SPME) gas chromatography/electron capture detector (GC-ECD) technique was developed for routine analysis of 9 HNMs in water samples. The optimization of the method is discussed. The limits of detection (LOD) and limits of quantification (LOQ) range from 90 ng/L to 260 ng/L and from 270 ng/L to 840 ng/L for 9 HNMs, respectively. Matrix effects in tap water and sea water were investigated and it was shown that the method is suitable for the analysis of trace levels of HNMs, in a wide range of waters. The method developed in the present study has the advantage of being rapid, simple and sensitive.
