  • Research supports that participatory strategies are central to the success of school-based sex education. Community-based participatory approaches are increasingly recognized as a central strategy for school-based sex education for their orientation towards participant engagement in program planning, content development, implementation, and evaluation. In combination with the community-based participatory approaches, a social ecological model holds values as a tool for facilitation and planning, and potentially as an evaluation aide for school-based sex education programs. This paper describes core concepts and principles of the community-based participatory research; illustrates a social ecological model organized for school-based sex education based on qualitative evaluation results of an abstinence education program in the United States ; and suggests application strategies of the presented approaches in school-based sex education in Korea.

To that end, the city conducted a study on 187 senior citizens aged 65 or older who were participating in a lifelong education program. The correlation of the main variables was checked and the middle and multiple return analysis was performed to analyze the adjustment effects. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the elderly 's motivation to participate in lifelong education on career barriers and empirically analyze the effect of income adjustment on this effect. For this purpose, 187 elderly people aged 65 or older participating in lifelong education programs in D city were studied. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, it was confirmed that elderly 's motivation to participate in lifelong education had negative effects on career barriers. • Considering that GIS (Geographic Information Systems) has not been widely adopted by teachers despite educators' considerable efforts to incorporate it into secondary education, if some teachers voluntarily participate in GIS in-service education without guaranteed benefits, those teachers deserve attention. This study investigates why teachers actively participated in a GIS staff-development program offered by Seoul National University in South Korea. Questionnaires were distributed to teachers and interviews were conducted. Results indicate that active participants are mostly young teachers who are expected to have had experiences with GIS during pre-service education. Teachers see the potential of GIS, but they also worry about several issues. Participating teachers' primary motivation was to learn enough about GIS to incorporate it into their teaching. Suggestions to facilitate the incorporation of GIS into education are provided.

  • With the rapid progress of the 4th industrial revolution, technical human capitals are considered to be the core competing factors of the enterprise. Technical manpower training of the 4th industrial revolution through technical education has become an essential task of venture start-ups. The opening of technical training courses and the education support system of companies are increasing, but the shortage of technical manpower is getting worse. This study was conducted to analyze the factors affecting participation intention of the 4th industrial revolution technology education. The research model was established based on the model of goal-directed behavior. For the analysis, 250 valid questionnaire data were used to test with a structural equation model. The results of the study are as follows. First, attitude had a positive effect on the intention to participate in education. Second, subjective norms had a positive effect on the intention to participate in education. Third, the perceived behavioral control has not been tested for a significant influence on educational participation intention. Fourth, positive and negative anticipated emotions had a significant effect on educational intention. The impact of significant variables were found in the order of positive anticipated emotions, attitudes, negative anticipated emotions, subjective norms. On the other hand, as a result of testing the mediating effect of desires, it was found that desires plays a mediating role between attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, positive anticipated emotions, negative anticipated emotions, and participation intention. In particular, the causal relationship between perceived behavioral control and intention to participate in education was not significant, but perceived behavioral control had a significant effect(full mediation) on participation intention through desires. Based on the results of this study, the following implication were suggested. First, the model of goal-directed behavior(MGB) was applied to the technical education field. Second, the direct relationship between antecedent variables and behavioral intentions was simultaneously tested. Third, unlike the existing education-related research, the factors affecting participation in education were analyzed. Fourth, the importance of desires for education were suggested.

First, Korean youth have high level of their parents' civic resources but the level of civic education in school is lower than other countries, and Taiwan youth have relatively high level of national identity. Second, the factors affecting on civic participation are more influenced by educational experiences than individual background such as parents' socioeconomic status, and the mass media have significant effect on youth's civic participation in all the three countries. Third, non-formal program and cultural experiences in school have significant effects on civic participation in future adulthood. Based on these results, this study suggested that it was important to provide various non-formal activities as well as expansion of civic education for encouraging youth's civic participation.
