  • Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the changes in distance refractive power and reading addition that occur after wearing corrective glasses for prebyopia. Methods: The subjects aged 42 to 75 years who had no ophthalmologic diseases and did not undergo cataract or retina surgery, had a corrected visual acuity of 20/20 and did not have a previous history of wearing corrective glasses for presbyopia. These subjects were divided into 3 groups: the control, reading spectacles and multifocals wearing group and they were measured for distance refractive power and reading addition at their visit. The maximum follow-up period was 73 months. Results: As for distance refractive power, the power tends to shift to hyperopia depending on age (r=0.486, p<.001) and 50.0% of the subjects increased plus power during this study period. Plus power Increments per year in distance refractive power in the reading spectacle wearing group were significantly different with control and multifocals wearing group (p<.05). On the other hand, the multifocals wearing group's increments were not different with control. Increments in reading addition were also increased in the reading spectacles group than in the control and multifocals wearing groups (p<.05). Conclusions: The age related hyperopic shift could be occurred in the elderly people, routine refraction is mandatory. And reading spectacles could induce an age related hyperopic shift and the additional need for reading addition that the prescription of multifocals may reduce changes in distance refractive power and reading addition.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate subjective symptoms according to the wearing, purchase and fitting status of soft contact lens wearers, and consumer perception of base curve. Methods : A survey was conducted for those who visited optical shops and lens shops in Seoul from June to August 2018. A total of 98 answer sheets they submitted were used for the analysis. The chi-square test and Fisher's exact test were used to compare subjective symptoms (dryness, glare, uncomfortable fitting, and decreased vision) according to whether fitting condition is screened (case history and push-up test, ect relevant to wearing sensation), and the odds ratio (OR) was obtained by the logistic regression analysis. Results : When the contact lenses were purchased, the rate of which the visual acuity test was performed was 86.6% at optical shop and 64.7% at lens shop. When purchasing contact lens and the contact lens was not tested for fitting, they more experienced dryness (OR 4.41, 95% CI 1.25-15.62) and uncomfortable fitting (OR 2.68, 95% CI 1.08-6.64) than testing for fitting. In addition, it was investigated that 87.8% of contact lens wearers did not know about the term base curve, 92.9% did not listen to an explanation related to the base curve when purchasing contact lenses, and 96.9% did not experience with base curve test. Conclusion : It would be thought that satisfaction of the contact lens fitting of existing consumers should be improved by changing a proper base curve by confirming the fitting condition when prescribing soft contact lens.

  • The convergence of IT technology and fashion is a marked trend in recent years induding sportswear, m-dress (mobile phone dress), and wearable computing. Despite continued research and record high development in the field, however, there still are unsettled issues like power supply, fit, washability and mobility when it comes to commercializing technological fashion product. In this context, this thesis is to propose feasible technology effectively applied to a portable bag. The first case is a bag designed to maximize sensitivity for a family who enjoys leisure activities often. The second one is a limited editionHaute Couture style bag targeting single women in their 20s and 30s. These two case studies are an attempt to demonstrate the possibility of applying wearable technology to a product design.

  • Aims of this study was to investigate on the actual condition of contact lens wearing after corneal refractive surgery, base curves and diameters of lenses on sale, and to confirm movement of lens and wear patterns when wearing of lenses in the modified cornea. After surgery, 16.5% of the respondents had experience wearing contact lenses. Also, the mostly distributed contact lenses had B.C. 8.6mm and DIA.14.0mm. The corneas of 24 eye after corneal refractive surgery were flat, the lenses moved towards inferior and temporal when wearing the lens. After corneal refractive surgery, contact lens wear may feel uncomfortable may require the detailed description and sophisticated fitting due to the limited type of contact lens. It is thought that convergence will be necessary in the industry and clinical study of contact lenses.

  • I made the three main estimated head about the facility of mechanical pencil which we always use in normal days. The head are these, the first is apparent usability by experiment, the second is the feeling when grasping, the third is the feeling when writing. After making the head, 1 selected the head which give the effect to the facility and make sure the interaction between heads by the method of actual test with 36 samples. After this test, 1 can find that there is no high interaction between the facility and the intuitively feeling by experiment. It's because the expectation which was made by experiment for the facility is higher than the real. but there is high interaction between the feeling of wearing and the feeling of writing. The mechanical pencil which has good facility is that the total length is long(169mm), the thickness is big($\Phi$8.5mm), the weight is little bit heavy(21.4g), the intersection is not circle, the surface where is hold by fingers has across grooves, and the body is glossy.

  • Purpose : This study was to investigate the change of accommodative functions by different color density and color of colored lenses. Methods : Participant had a normal NPC and no dyschromatopsia, phoria and eye disease, also had no histories of eye surgery in 31 students of university. Their accommodative functions were measured according to 50%, 80% density of the gray, blue, brown lens and non-colored lenses. Tests of accommodative functions performed include amplitude of accommodation, accommodative facility, relative accommodation, and accommodative lag. Results : The amplitude of accommodation and accommodation lag were increased when wearing the colored lens. Negative relative accommodation was more increased when wearing the colored lens than achromatic. Positive relative accommodation increased when wearing the blue color lens density by 50%. Also, accommodation facility increased when wearing the colored lens, but, as the density of the color increased, the accommodation facility was decreased. Conclusion : As since the accommodation function changes according to density of the colored lenses, working distance and environment of the wearing colored lens should be considered when selecting density and color of colored lenses.

  • This study was conducted to measure the central corneal thickness(CTT) changes associated with kinds of wearing contact lens. The CCT was measured using ultrasonic pachymeter in three hundred four subjects in their 20s and 30s. Although the CCT of Group 1 who had never worn any kinds of contact lens had no differences between left and right eye as well as between genders, the CCT tended to become thinner depending on the increment in refractive error. In Group 2 wearing only soft contact lens, the CCT was thinner depending on wearing period, and subjects wearing for more than 10 years had significantly thin CCT comparing with subjects wearing for less than 4 years. There was no significant difference in the CCT between Group 3 wearing only RGP lens and Group 2 for less than 4 years. Furthermore, when comparing the CCT between the Group 2 and Group 4 changing to RGP lens after wearing soft contact lens, there was no statistically significant change in the CCT. However, the CCT was significantly thinner in Group 5 changing to soft contact lens after wearing PMMA(polymethyl methacrylate) hard lens compared with Group 2.
