A Lane Tracking Algorithm Using IPM and Kalman Filter (역투영 변환과 칼만 필터를 이용한 주행차선 추적)

  • In this paper, A lane tracking algoritm is proposed for lane departure warning system. To eliminate perspective effect, input image is converted into Bird's View by inverse perspective mapping. Next, suitable features are extracted for lane detection. Using clustering and lane similarity function with noise suppression features are extracted. Finally, lane model is calculated using RANSAC and lane model is tracked using Kalman Filter. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can be processed within 20ms and its detection rate approximately 90% on the highway in a variety of environments.

  • In this paper, we propose a road lane color recognition method from the image obtained from a driving vehicle. In autonomous vehicle techniques, lane information becomes more important as the level of autonomous driving such as lane departure warning and dynamic lane keeping assistance is increased. In particular the lane color recognition, especially the white and the yellow lanes, is necessary technique because it is directly related to traffic accidents. In this paper, color information of lane and road area is mapped to a 2-dimensional S-color space based on lane detection. And the center of the feature distribution is obtained by using an improved mean-shift algorithm in the S-color space. The lane color is determined by using the distance between the center coordinates of the color features of the left and right lanes and the road area. In various illumination conditions, about 97% color recognition rate is achieved.

  • License plate recognition system for an exclusive bus-lane is made of 5 core parts which are vehicle detection, image acquisition individual character extraction, character recognition and data transmission. Among them, the accuracy of license plate extraction can bring effect significantly to the accuracy of a whole system recognition rate also the more exact extraction of license plate is required in various weather and environment conditions. Therefore in this paper we propose a plat extraction algorithm that makes pyramid structure to reduced the extraction processing time binarizes plate's template region using adaptive thresholding extracts candidate region containing plate, and verifies a final region using plate character distribution characteristics among the candidates. Experimenal results were exactly extracted the license plate region by using proposed method to the image obtained in an exclusive bus-lane with various weather and environment conditions.

  • 최근 IT 기술이 융합된 지능형 자동차 기술에 대한 관심이 높아짐에 따라 이에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 차선 검출은 지능형 자동차의 주요 과제인 첨단 안전자동차 기술의 핵심적인 부분으로 국내외에서 다양한 방법들에 대한 연구가 진행되었다. 차량의 안전을 향상시키기 위해서는 충분한 제동거리 확보가 가능한 거리까지 정확하고 빠른 차선 검출이 이루어져야 한다. 기존의 경계선 검출기반 차선 검출은 소실점 근처에서 경계선 검출이 이루어지지 않았다. 이는 차선과 도로의 색이 잘 구분되지 않는 채널을 사용하는 문제에서 기인한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 선형 판별 분석 기법을 이용하여 차선과 도로 색을 가장 잘 구분할 수 있는 RGB 가중치를 계산하여 이로부터 projection 영상을 만들고, 변환한 영상에서 경계선 검출을 수행함으로써 보다 정확한 경계선 검출 결과를 얻는 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 방법으로 얻은 영상과 기존의 흑백 영상에 동일한 경계선 검출기를 적용하여 성능을 비교하고, 이를 적용한 차선검출 실험결과를 제시한다.

  • Recently, global companies are developing the automobile technologies, converged with state-of-the-art IT technologies for the commercialization of autonomous vehicles. These autonomous vehicles are required the accurate lane information to enhance its reliability by controlling the vehicles safely. Hence, the study planned to examine possibilities of applying UAV photogrammetry of high-resolution images, obtained from the low altitudes. The high-resolution DSM and the ortho-images were generated from the GSD 7cm-level digital images that were obtained and based on the generated data, when the positions information of the roads including the lanes were extracted. In fact, the RMSE of verifying the extracted data was shown to be about 15cm. Through the results from the study, it could be concluded that the low alititude UAV photogrammetry can be applied for generating and updating a high-accuracy map of road areas.

  • This paper proposes a vehicle to road tracking algorithm based on vision sensor by using EKF(Extended Kalman Filter). The lateral offset, heading angle, and curvature which are obtained from vehicle to road tracking might be used as inputs to steering controller of LKAS(Lane Keeping Assist System) or for the warning decision logic of LDWS(Lane Departure Warning System). To the end, in this paper, the yaw rate, steering angle, and vehicle speed as well as lane raw points together with considering of vehicle lateral dynamics are utilized to improve the exactness and convergence of the vehicle to road tracking. The proposed algorithm has been tested at a proving ground that consists of straight and curve sections and compared with GPS datum using DGPS-RTK equipment to show the feasibility of the proposed algorithm.

Stable and Precise Multi-Lane Detection Algorithm Using Lidar in Challenging Highway Scenario (어려운 고속도로 환경에서 Lidar를 이용한 안정적이고 정확한 다중 차선 인식 알고리즘)

  • Lane detection is one of the key parts among autonomous vehicle technologies because lane keeping and path planning are based on lane detection. Camera is used for lane detection but there are severe limitations such as narrow field of view and effect of illumination. On the other hands, Lidar sensor has the merits of having large field of view and being little influenced by illumination because it uses intensity information. Existing researches that use methods such as Hough transform, histogram hardly handle multiple lanes in the co-occuring situation of lanes and road marking. In this paper, we propose a method based on RANSAC and regularization which provides a stable and precise detection result in the co-occuring situation of lanes and road marking in highway scenarios. This is performed by precise lane point extraction using circular model RANSAC and regularization aided least square fitting. Through quantitative evaluation, we verify that the proposed algorithm is capable of multi lane detection with high accuracy in real-time on our own acquired road data.

Vision-based Real-time Lane Detection and Tracking for Mobile Robots in a Constrained Track Environment

  • As mobile robot applications increase in real life, the need of low cost autonomous driving are gradually increasing. We propose a novel vision-based real-time lane detection and tracking system that supports autonomous driving of mobile robots in constrained tracks which are designed considering indoor driving conditions of mobile robots. Considering the processing of lanes with various shapes and the pre-adjustment of operation parameters, the system structure with multi-operation modes are designed. In parameter tuning mode, thresholds of the color filter is dynamically adjusted based on the geometric property of the lane thickness. And in the unstable input mode of curved tracks and the stable input mode of straight tracks, lane feature pixels are adaptively extracted based on the geometric and temporal characteristics of the lanes and the lane model is fitted using the least-squared method. The track centerline is calculated using lane models and the motion model is simplified and tracked by a linear Kalman filter. In the driving experiments, it was confirmed that even in low-performance robot configurations, real-time processing produces the accurate autonomous driving in the constrained track.

A Recognition Algorithm for Vehicle Road Lanes and Obstacles Based on Single View Geometric Constitution (단일 시선 기하구조 기반 주행차선 및 장애물 인식 알고리듬)

  • 본 논문에서는 1대의 CCD카메라로 주행 중 차선과 선행차량을 인식하고 선행차량까지의 거리를 실시간으로 계측하는 알고리즘을 제시하였다. 도로와 카메라간의 기하구조를 분석하여 사영행렬을 추출하였고, 주행 중 차간 거리를 실시간으로 계측하는데 이용하였다. 또한 차선 인식을 위해서 Hough Transform을 적용하여 처리시간을 단축하였다. 도로상의 장애물은 인식된 주행차선 내로 한정하였고 도로 영상에서 수평에지성분을 구한 후 히스토그램 투영을 적용하여 장애물을 검출하였다. 거리가 점차 멀어질수록 계측오차가 증가함을 볼 수 있었으나 기존의 방법에 비하여 주행 중에 운전자가 장애물을 판단하여 제동을 취할 수 있는 정도의 유효한 오차특성을 보였다.

Image processing algorithm for preceding vehicle detection based on DLI (선형차량 인식을 위한 DLI 기반의 영상처리 알고리즘)

  • 본 논문은 차량 내에 설치된 두 대의 CCD 카메라를 이용하여 도로 영상으로부터 주행차선내에 있는 장애물을 인식하는 새로운 알고리즘을 제시한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 주행하는 차선과 관련이 있는 차선 정보만을 이용하여, 스테레오 영상에서 변이도를 추출할 수 있는 변이도 함수인 DLI(Disparity of lane-related information)를 정의하였다. DLI는 선행 차량과 같은 장애물은 주위보다 상대적으로 큰 에지값을 가진다는 특성을 이용하여, 주행차선 내에 있는 장애물의 유무를 검출하고 위치를 유추한다. 제안된 방법은 특징점의 탐색공간을 현저히 줄여 실시간 처리문제를 해결한 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 DLI를 이용한 선행차량 인식기법의 성능을 검증하기 위하여 다양한 환경의 도로영상에 알고리즘을 적용하여 제안한 방법의 우수함을 확인하였다.
