  • The Purpose of this study was to find the way of discriminating EEG for some mental activity. which are not characterized within linear spectral analysis but with non-linear analysis . We lave investigated the way of characterizing EEG changes during emotional and cognitive states in healthy volunteered subjects who responded to three designed status. in which the subjects were relaxing with ease and eyes closed. listening to music and computing a simple subtraction with eyes closed. Especially, we estimated EEG dimensional complexity by Skinner s Point-wise correlation dimension(PD2) method for each mental states. As a result it has been found that the subjects, who responded that the\ulcorner had concentrated well during the arithmetic task. show higher PD2 in their non-linear EEG measures. in comparison with the subjects who responded that they had not concentrated during the task This highness of PD2 is also significant in statistical analysis. A subject who had the highest score in evaluating the intensity of induced emotion during emotional task shows significantly lower PD2 in statistical analysis than other subjects who had lower scores. Linear spectral analysis was also performed on these data. However, they did not show and significant difference. Only non-linear dynamical analysis shows the significant different result on these mental status.

  • This research aimed to explore the effects of collaborative writing activities in a mathematical context, specifically pertaining to areas such as numbers and operation, geometrical figure, and measurement in Mathematics: Level 5-b, on their mathematical achievement gain and disposition among Grade 5 students. To do this, out of a total of 62 students selected from two Grade 5 classes of J Elementary School in Dalseo-gu, Daegu City, who were found to be homogenic from the tests of math performance and dispositions, an experimental group(n=31) was designed and compared to a control group (n=31). Over a six week period from October to November in 2009, the experimental group was given collaborative writing lessons in math classes while the control group was given teacher-oriented regular lessons. The results were as follows. First, there was more or less considerable, though not significant, difference in overall mathematical achievement in the students experiencing collaborative writing activities when compared with the students in the control group. However, in terms of numbers and operation, a sub-category of mathematics, there was significant difference between the two groups. Second, the students experiencing collaborative writing activities were more positively affected in all sub-categories of mathematical disposition: confidence, flexibility, determination, curiosity, reflection, and value, than those in the control group. In summing up, the exposure of collaborative writing activities to mathematics learning was found to help students not only to have a concrete and proper grasp of the relevant problem solving process, which was observed from their mathematical achievement gain especially in the sphere of numbers and operation, but also to have their mathematical disposition set towards more positive direction, which was seen in all sub-categories of mathematical disposition measurement.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the number-operation games and to analyze the effects of the games on mathematical creativity of gifted elementary students. We set up the basic direction and standard of mathematical gifted creativity program and developed the 10 periods games based on the mathematically gifted creative problem solving(MG-CPS) model. And, to find out the change of students' creativity, the test based on the developed program and one group pretest-posttest design was conducted on 20 gifted students. Analysis of data using Leikin's evaluation model of mathematical creativity with Leikin's scoring and categorization frame revealed that gifted students's creativity is improved via the number-operation games.

  • Optimal determination of cluster size has an effect on the result of clustering. In K-means algorithm, the difference of clustering performance is large by initial K. But the initial cluster size is determined by prior knowledge or subjectivity in most clustering process. This subjective determination may not be optimal. In this Paper, the genetic algorithm based optimal determination approach of cluster size is proposed for automatic determination of cluster size and performance upgrading of its result. The initial population based on attribution is generated for searching optimal cluster size. The fitness value is defined the inverse of dissimilarity summation. So this is converged to upgraded total performance. The mutation operation is used for local minima problem. Finally, the re-sampling of bootstrapping is used for computational time cost.

  • Elementary mathematics textbooks present contents for enhancing problem solving competency. Still, teachers find teaching problem solving to be challenging. To understand the supports textbooks are suggesting, this study examined tasks from the challenging/thinking and inquiry mathematics. We analyzed 288 mathematical activities based on an analytic framework from the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum. Then, we employed latent class analysis to classify 83 mathematical tasks as a new approach to categorize tasks. As a result, execution of the problem solving process was emphasized across grade levels but understanding of problems was varied by grade levels. In addition, higher grade levels had more opportunities to be engaged in collaborative problem solving and problem posing. We identified three task profiles: 'execution focus', 'collaborative-solution focus', 'multifaceted-solution focus'. In Grade 3, about 80% of tasks were categorized as the execution profile. The multifaceted-solution was about 40% in the thinking/challenging mathematics and the execution profile was about 70% in Inquiry mathematics. The implications for developing mathematics textbooks and designing mathematical tasks are discussed.

  • The clustering algorithm is the grouping of similar objects. In radar system, it is mainly used to group adjacent hits using the CFAR algorithm results. However it is difficult to separate adjacent targets by a general clustering method. In this paper, we describe how to separate adjacent targets using double clustering method. First, we execute a range direction clustering. And we find the inflection point and separate it. Next, we execute a doppler direction clustering using range clustering results. This method makes the computation time less change even if the target increases by range-doppler clustering respectively.

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the genetic diversity and relationships of Ogye populations in Korea. A total of 243 genomic DNA samples from 6 Ogye population (Yeonsan Ogye; YSO, Animal Genetic Resources Research Center Ogye; ARO, Chungbuk Ogye; CBO, Chungnam Ogye; CNO, Gyeongbuk Ogye; GBO, Seoul National University Ogye; SUO) and 3 introduced chicken breeds (Rhode Island Red; RIR, White Leghorn; LG, Cornish; CN) were used. Sizes of 25 microsatellite markers were decided using GeneMapper Software(v 5.0) after analyzing ABI 3130XL. A total of 153 alleles were observed and the range was 2 to 10 per each locus. The mean of expected and observed heterozygosity and PIC (Polymorphism Information Content) value was 0.53, 0.50, 0.46 respectively. The lowest genetic distance (0.073) was observed between YSO and SUO, and the highest distance (0.937) between the RIR and CBO. The results of clustering analysis suggested 3 clusters (${\Delta}K=7.96$). Excluding GBO population, 5 Ogye populations (YSO, ARO, CBO, CNO, SUO) were grouped in same cluster with high genetic uniformity (0.990, 0.979, 0.989, 0.994, 0.985 respectively). But GBO population was grouped in cluster 1 with low genetic uniformity (0.340). The results of this study can be use to basic data for the genetic evaluation and management of Ogye populations in Korea.

  • Clusters of workstations (COW) are becoming an attractive option for parallel scientific computing, a field formerly reserved to the MPPs, because their cost-performance ratio is usuallybetter than that of comparable MPPS, and their hardware and software can be easily enhanced to thelatest generations. In this paper we present the design and implementation of our runtime library forclusters of workstations, called "Collective I/O Clustering". The library provides a friendlyprogramming model for the I/O of irregular applications on clusters of workstations, being completelyintegrated with the underlying communication and I/O system. In the collective I/O clustering, two I/Oconfigurations are possible. In the first I/O configuration, all processors allocated can act as I/Oservers as well as compute nodes. In the second I/O configuration, only a subset of processors canact as I/O servers, The compression and software caching facilities have been incorporated into thecollective 1/0 clustering to optimize the communication and I/O costs. All the performance results wereobtained on the IBM-SP machine, located at Argonne National Labs.
